Green Scarf Taoist Sect Gear

MAGIC ITEMS- GREEN SCARF TAOIST SECT:
-The Green Scarf Taoist Sect is a nefarious pre-Rifts organization that now deals in the "infernal"- items revolving around the Demons that now inhabit China. Unusually, most of these items are only active for a certain amount of time before they lose power, meaning the buyer has to return to the Sect to buy more stuff. They especially deal with Demon Slavers, providing them gear and getting first dibs at all their slaves (at a discount).

"Binding Blinders" Will blind a Demon slave at-will.
"Binding Chains" Will prevent a Demon from escaping no matter its strength.
"Binding Demon Snare" Elite Snare against demons.
"Binding Demon Choker Snare" Snare + Choking.
"Binding Demon Stamp" Immediately makes a Demon subserviant & docile to the stamper.
"Binding Hand Stock" Generic bonds.
"Binding Head & Hand Stock" Makes lockpicking impossible.
"Binding Leash & Collar" The leashed victim must obey the wielder.
"Demon Catching Mirror" Can hold up to 4 demons, releasing at-will.
"Demonic Mirror of Truth" Will show the true image of any creature reflected on it.
"Ivory Faerie Blossom" Distracts faeries.
"Lotus Petal Circle" Contains demons within a circle of petals.
"Pipe of Ling Lun" Brings peaceful feelings to humans & makes Demons stop fighting.
"Seal of Green Scarf Celestial Master" Demon must obey one command when branded.

The Geofront

THE GEOFRONT:
-And then, in the final third of a book devoted to Chi Warriors and Magical Martial Artists, we get a section on an underground society of high-tech people with Pre-Rifts gear, lol. The Geofront was formed by a rising superpower in the 2000s, hoping to find a better way to feed and house China's massive population as life expentancies raised across the globe. And naturally, like a lot of high-tech societies on Rifts Earth, they were just coincidentally protected from the Coming of the Rifts, allowing them to maintain all their stuff. Turns out the Geofront was placed in the "Yin Caverns"- a place of supernatural power that Demons won't enter. This left them safe, and expeditions to the surface revealed how lucky they were- they grabbed some human survivors and hit their existence from the Yama Kings & others.

Their tunnels, initially long in the real world, appear almost endless and their limits have never been found- possibly thanks to mystical power. Some people wish to attack the demons NOW and want to liberate the rest of China- the "Moderates" believe more time needs to be taken to study the Yama Kings and other demons, and also want to keep the Geofront "pure" from outsiders- some fall in the middle. The Geofront itself is a military dictatorship of sorts, but with a loyal populace that will gladly spy and tattle for them. Surprisingly, their soldiers aren't just generic technology-using Grunts (to the point where, for maybe the first time ever, the book just says "Use the CS stats" in lieu of copy-pasting it to fill page space!), but ALSO Mystical Martial Artists who use the "Chi" stuff listed earlier in the book!

So... yet another "Hidden Society With Magical Self-Sustaining Everything and Pre-Rifts Technology"- luck has produced these in nearly every continent now (I'm still amazed by the "whole untouched factory of Glitter Boy suits" one in another book, lol), but... this one's in China. That China is more overrun with monsters than any other place makes this a bit more important.

-The generic Grunts of the Geofront are typical to most nations, but can learn either Tai Chi (FIGHTING 5) or Shao-Lin Kung Fu (FIGHTING 9!). They can either learn Cotton Fist or Crane Style powers, enabling Mega-Damage strikes as well. A "Demon Skin" power common to all lets them have M.D.C. temporarily. So essentially they're common Grunts but with innate super-powers.

-Depending on the martial arts & powers chosen, Geofront mooks can be either PL 7.5 or PL 9.5- quite the variance.

-Demon-Eager Cyborgs are the elite warriors of the Geofront, and built specifically to hunt down and fight Demons tooth & clay. Demons have noticed them, but suspect they are from an alien realm so far. They have solid base M.D.C., but upgrade to an insane 560 M.D.C. total with armor that "hooks right onto their body", which is upper-tier.

-Assault Geo-Borgs have an extra attack and access to some of the best martial arts, hitting +9 to hit easily, but are lower-toughness than the Demon-Eater and have fewer attacks. They're best used on stealth missions.

-The Lion Geo-Borg gets no art, but is said to be a giant mechanical LION with a human brain inside. It was created by the Whack Job Scientists to go on reconaissance missions within China, and of course was thus meant to be a TIGER, but the applicants preferred lions because those are what guards the temples against demons (okay, those are LION DOGS, but sure).

-Lion Geo-Borgs are solid fighters, but only PL 10-ish except for their defenses (PL 10.5).

-The Lightning Warriors are China's version of Crazies, but swap the "LOL I'M SO WACKY" annoying gamer lure for someone who has meditated to control the mental side-effects of the M.O.M. augmentation, making them disinterested-looking zen warriors. They can appear fidgety and impatient, but are usually detached unless on the battlefield, where they are perpetual motion. They are otherwise similar to Crazies, but get a boost to attacks when fighting demons or any monster deemed to be a threat to China.

-The Metal Warriors are the RPA (SAMAS) Pilot equivalent, and are brave warriors, but rarely fight in their armor above the surface of the caverns- the Geofront prefers to keep their best weapons hidden. I used the Black Tiger armor as a default here- it's effectively a Super-SAMAS, with 475 M.D.C. (nearly double a regular SAMAS) and otherwise similar capabilties. +2 attacks is HUGE as well, turning this into a PL 11 warrior.

-The Gun Runners are pretty inventive, taking the "John Woo" gun-toting hero concept and boosting it with Chi, turning these guys into elite soldiers. Gun Runners appear in squads of 4-60 and raze everything demonic they find "out in the world" (as they call it)- they are devoted soldiers who are useless with anything BUT guns, but always carry tons of them. They start off being able to convert S.D.C. weapons into M.D.C. ones (doing +11 damage, or 4D6 Mega-Damage, with a magnum or whatever), and later get other powers. Many of these powers are no joke, and turn the guys into very dangerous bad-asses, especially as S.D.C. weapons are so cheap. Most cost a bit of I.S.P., at least:

-3rd Level: using gun as blunt weapon does +9 to demons; 4th Level: Automatically knows ammo count, Sleight of Hand +4 with Guns; 5th Level: Can use damaged/old guns without penalty, +2 Ranged Attack with guns; 6th Level: "Bullet Punch" does +11 to demons unarmed; 7th Level: Move Object (Guns Only), +2 to hit with guns; 8th Level: Half penalty for shooting blind, all guns do +10 Energy Blast; 9th Level: Can dodge or parry guns (boost defense, I guess), +1 to shooting; 10th Level: +1 to shooting; 11th Level: "Snapping Kick" does +13 damage to M.D.C. creatures; 12th Level: Can make bullets harm undead, energy beings, etc.; 13th Level: +2 to shooting; 14th Level: Teleport guns to hands; 15th Level: "Patient Shot" has +6 accuracy and does triple-damage if it hits.

-Gun Runners end up with an extra attack, boosts to their physical stats, and more.
