It's a Palladium attempt at a metaplot for their various game lines.
It spills out into all of the games.

Basically the demon realms of Hades and Dyval ramp up their war and due to the nature of the Rifts it goes extra dimensional.

The books that cover it are:
Hades (RIFTS - Dimension Book: 10)
Dyval (RIFTS - Dimension Book: 11)
Dimensional Outbreak (RIFTS - Dimension Book: 12)
Armageddon Unlimited (Heroes Unlimited)
Megaverse in Flames (RIFTS - World Book: 35)
Heroes of the Megaverse (RIFTS - Dimension Book: 15)
Heroes of Humanity.

-Ereshkigal is a Chaotic Evil entity who lives to torture mortal & god alike, and will not relinquish a slave unless forced or tricked into doing so. Though loyal to Apsu & Tiamat, she continues to rule over the dead under Marduk's crew. Of importance is that she rules a magical realm that reduces all visiting Gods to 1/5th of their durability, and won't allow them to teleport out!

-Nergal is the god of plagues, violence and destruction, and is the consort of Ereshkigal. He sided with Apsu & Tiamat, and was spared by Marduk only because of his marriage, and has since hung out with Tiamat in her dimension. Now interfering on Rifts Earth, he has decided there's plenty of violence, but not enough wars! So he & his agents are trying to start a Coalition/Tolkeen War, help the Gargoyles & Bordkil against the Triax, and more.

-Interestingly, he has three 3/day Fire Spells- with his high level (15th) he can actually do 15D4 with a Fire Ball, making that piddly spell actually very potent.

-A Succubus loyal to Apsu & Tiamat, Lilith enjoyed seducing powerful rulers and getting them to declare war on their neighbors for no good reason. She has apparently caused the destruction of an entire world this way, laughing as she teleported away during a nuclear exchange. She has far simpler powers than other Gods, but is more of a seducer anyhow.

-The greatest hero of Babylonian mythology, Gilgamesh may or may not be the original man- the book leaves it up to the GM and players. He was a mighty king of Uruk, as powerful as the gods, but covetous and cruel. The Gods sent Enkidu to fight him, but the two became friends until the next challenger- a bull- seemed to slay Enkidu. Now searching for immortality, Gilgamesh disappeared into the multiverse. He has a bizarre statline- as powerful and skilled as just about any god, but WAY lower Toughness. Though +18 to Parry & Dodge (six attacks and a huge +13 to defenses) is truly exceptional.

-Bizarrely called "Endiku" repeatedly in the book, likely via someone speed-reading, Enkidu was Gilgamesh's friend and ally (he had been sent to kill the king, but was beaten and offered mercy, turning the two into friends) who was tragically killed by the bull sent to fight them. But in this book, Enkidu was merely taken away by the Gods, who wanted their minion back. Enkidu misses Gilgamesh terribly, and still hopes he returns, but is a loyal minion of the Gods, especially Marduk, who grew to respect him.

Galla

Post by Jabroniville »

Image

GALLA R.C.C.: ST +8, STA +9, AGI +2, FIGHTING +5, AWA +1, Dodge +3, Darkvision, Infravision, See the Invisible, Invisibility, Regeneration 5, Immunity (Heat), Half-Immunity (Fire Damage) [73]

-Galla are demonic minions of Apsu, related to the "Ball-Rog" (of course Palladium, obsessed with its own IPs, would use that name)- vastly durable, they are equivalent to Dragon Hatchlings, are great fighters, and do at least +10 damage unarmed! They're not meant for PCs because they're supernatural demons, of course. Humorously, there's little to them beyond inflated stats, but these things would be PL 10-11 apiece and make for a tremendous threat.

Scorpion People

Post by Jabroniville »

SCORPION PEOPLE R.C.C.: ST +7, STA +5, FIGHTING +6, PRE -1, Ranged Attack 6, Dodge +4, Pincers +1, Regeneration 2, Wall-Crawling 1, Half-Immunity (Poison, Drugs), Extra Limbs 2, "Venomous Tail" Tail +1 Linked to Affliction 8 (Fort; Dazed & Vulnerable/Stunned & Defenseless/Paralyzed) (Extra Condition) [69]

-Scorpion People are monstrous-looking, but not evil, and have been used by the Gods as soldiers for generations. They worship the Babylonian Gods and have a religion akin to Ancient Sumer- on their homeworld, they still have nations fighting each other and attemping to sell the others into slavery. Scorpion People will likely have +8-ish durability and do +10 damage in melee, with +11 to hit. So they're very dangerous creatures at baseline.

THE DARK COUNCIL:
-This group of frauds have taken the names of Sumerian Gods to command respect, and wish to become true deities- they are currently experimenting with how to use the P.P.E. of worshippers. They conquer various worlds and areas hoping to recruit people.

-The false "Ea" is an altered Sowki, whatever that is. He made an evil pact with Apsu eons ago, gaining power in exchange for absorbing worshipper's P.P.E. for the boss. But he cleverly skimmed some off the top until he was able to sever the connection, and now works for himself. With Apsu now trapped, Ea is free to do whatever he wants, and formed the Dark Council to become a real God with his allies. Ea is pretty powerful, but has less than 1,000 M.D.C., so is hardly a match for any real deity.

-Krellon here actually has a pretty awesome story- he was a vastly powerful Warlock who took control of his entire world, becoming its ultimate ruler. He chose to stay there and relish his might after travelling the universe and finding little that interested him, but was horribly beaten when a rival powerhouse arrived to challenge him. Krellon threw everything he had at the opponent, but found he could never truly beat him- the man was a God, and had limitless M.D.C. Krellon was badly beaten and only survived thanks to his minions. He escaped with his life, and threw himself into gaining power- he horribly mutilated himself to become a "Bio-Borg" M.D.C. being. But when he returned to his world to slay the usurper... the God was already dead! Ea & Tiamat had beaten him to it- upon talking with the two of them, they realized they shared the same goal, and united. Now "Enlil" seeks to become a God, too.

-Krellon's stats are kind of unimpressive, but he's more of a "thinker" who trades fairly for a lot of potions and magical gadgets.

-The false Tiamat is actually a normal Dragon, swiping the name of Tiamat on her own to gain worshippers and strike terror into others (the real Tiamat learned of this, but was more like "yeah, kill in my name- that's fine"). Unfortunately, she went to the Pantheon of Dragonwright and demanded to be made a God with them, and was horribly mangled by Styphon the Black, who taunted her nearly-dead body. Now recovered, she seeks revenge, and to be made a proper God- she is the most powerful member of the Council, but defers to Ea, whom she respects.

-Gilgamesh the Wanderer has another strange backstory- he woke up with no memories and a Babylonian script explaining that the wandering Gilgamesh, in search of immortality, had come across a Cyber-Mancer who offered him a way- creating and slaying a clone seven times in a row, extending his life span each time until he was immortal. But this man has no idea if the story is true, if he is the real Gilgamesh, or a victorious clone. He secretly hopes he is not the original, as he is horrified at what Gilgamesh did in search of his goals. So now he's a wandering do-gooder. Gilgamesh has MASSIVE defenses, packing six attacks and +13 to dodge & parry, making him one of the few characters to hit PL 19 despite a fairly low M.D.C. count for a "God" (even with Scale Mail that doubles the number).
