Cowboy Ken (Mizuki Kenshiro)
Health: 3 Story Points: 0 Condition: Normal

It was good to hear that things weren't deadly serious as of now for the base-staff, sounds like things were busy with all the other teams. Instead of worrying about that, he was mentally starting to unpack what few things he took along with him as decor. '<Hm... I can probably put the horses over the bed, but where would I put the movie posters? ...Ah, wasn't there something else I wanted to check up on first?>
Am I dead? Am I alive? The answer may surprise you!

Ghost Raven (Esmerelda Ravenwood)
Health: 4; Story Points: 6
Condition: Normal

Whatever the situation was, Dial Tone wasn’t worried about it. Surprised by the sudden absence of most everyone. “Seems we missed out on the action.” This was said matter of factly The Ranger was very much still here. She walked into basically the nearest unoccupied room, shut the door, and set everything down. Unpacking didn’t take very long. Her personal items were mainly toiletries and clothes, not knickknacks and mementos. A photograph of her father, Henry Ravenwood. The bolt action .22 varmint rifle she used from about six to just after her twelfth birthday. It was completely disabled, even I it didn’t look like it. It would take significant work and several replacement parts to get it ever fire again. Everything else was a practical use item, and she carried most of it with her. The digital clock radio was an exception. It also functioned as a phone dock and music player.

She changed into basic army work clothes. She didn’t actually look that different. BDUs and cargo pants were quite similar. T-shirt instead of a tank top. Different jacket. Her belt sported some new items in addition to the knife, multitool, and pistol. She had a holstered canteen and a few pouches containing basic survival items. Compass. Couple of glowsticks. Small LED flashlight. Matches. A few granola bars. And, of course, her phone (placed on vibrate). She confirmed everything was where she wanted it, and then stepped outside to where Dial Tone waited. “Reporting as ordered, Sergeant.”

"Relax Raven, GI Joes military, but were pretty casual around here amongst the rank and file." He does nod in acknowledgement though of her discipline. then he chuckles as he remembers something funny "Heck I remember doing the same when I first got here, Scarlet and the others helped me relax."

He leans closer conspiratorially "Don't make that mistake I made with Duke though." he pretends to look around for listeners "Let Rock and Roll prank me into thinking Duke and the rest of the brass were as casual as Scarlet was about their ranks. Duke set me right straight."

He gives a good laugh then. "The Tops a good Joe though, keep a cool head and do your job right and you'll be on his good side no sweat."

"Not having to share a bunk is comfort enough for me." Albert took a card and keyed it to his left thumb. He laid claim to one of the apartments and got changed into his "personal" set of ACUs he'd acquired before joining the Joe team. Then he was back out with the others, ready for the briefing.

Relic (Jacob "Jake" Fraser)
Health: 3 Story Points: 0 Condition: Normal

Jake dropped his rucksack in his room.
There wasn't much in it that he was attached to. He's spent too much time traveling through rather rough parts of the world. He'd gotten into the habit of carrying anything vital on his person, and to avoid anything that looked like it was worth a lot of money.

A quick change of clothes and he was ready to go. His pistol holstered at his waist, and his leatherbound journal tucked into a pocket. With that settled he made his way back out to meet the others.

Toymaker
Health 4, Story Points 6
Condition: racking up those bennies

It wasn't the most direct route down, he wanted to give the new Joes a moment to settle in, get comfortable.

Being comfortable was very important before seeing him. He was recognizable, not just from his current appearance but based upon his history.

A moment to stop off at the armory, to pick up a few pieces, to make the guarding duties a bit more managable. That and everyone felt better armed. It was just human nature. Heartbeat, breathing, lethal weapon.

Basic human comforts.

Breech noted the vehicles as he passed, remembering being checked out on them. He wasn't much of a driver so that portion of his training had been the most awkward. Gunner yes, but lets hope nobody wanted him to do a high speed pursuit.

He pressed his thumb on the gold badge and waited for it to do its magic before heading upstairs to find a spare room. He dumps his bag on the bed, wondering how much he was going to need to curl up in order to fit. He was too big for most beds so it wasn't a surprise.

He changed into army fatigues and a red beret with a little badge with a crown and CR and strapped a side holster complete with pistol to his side before heading back down to meet up with the others. He heard Dial Tone speaking with Ghost Raven and decided to not stand on ceremony as Dial Tone requested.

"Ready when you are," he announced as he stepped inside and loomed large.

Everyone

When everyones done Dial Tone gives a grin and leads you all down the hallway to the elevator where he takes up up a floor to the 4th floor which is administration and comms and tactical. He takes you to a briefing room where theres plenty of room to sit and stands before a wide screen which he ques up a video presentation of expert quality.

"So folks welcome to the PIT." he begins "Normally wed have a full party to welcome you and this would happen later but we've had a fairly unusual situation, namely no less than four all hands-on deck missions."

"The missions we're sudden and required us to even call up some of your classmates from Sarges Boot Camp." he explains "needless to say everyones out there, even the brass who were all called up to DC in one for or another and let me tell you Scarlet was not happy."

"So that leaves us as we are now, with PIT sitting duty." he grins easily, while queuing up the map on the video "So lets begin your tour of the PIT."

He then begins pointing out places of interest in the multi layered underground facility which is a near miracle of construction and engineering.

On the very bottom in lowest Sub layer is the Geothermal Tap which is one of the bases primary power suppliers along side the bases high energy reactor. Add in the camouflaged solar panels and a dedicated wind farm as well as underground water turbines powered by the enormous underground river and the base is fully powered and nearly impossible to knock off line thanks to the enormous batteries built in underground which store excess power.

the next floor up is the environmental controls and life support systems which keep the underground base comfortable, and a part of the reservoir where not only is the power supply generated but a section of the area is cut off to act as hydro cooling for the PITs powerful computer system which is one of the most advanced in the world.

Up next is the ""ground floor"" where the various launch and vehicle bays are kept. the bays are in 4 separate area like a giant cross. first is the Lanf bay where all the land vehicles are kept as well as the maintence bay which assists in repairing and maintaining them, and the Elevator which leads up to the hidden exit ramp. Across from it is the Air bay where the Sky Strikers and new next gen Talon Fighters are kept, along with any transport craft, and JUMP Jetpacks. On another is the Vertical AirCraft hangar and bay where the various Helicopters, and sky hawks are kept. then across from that is the harbor which links to the reservoir and the underground river for the Joes Water based vehicles which can reach either ocean via deep dug tunnels.

Around those bays is the Central core of the base which is the elevator which you road up and which can rotate to open to any side of the base as needed. its activated by your key cards and is monitored and secure.

The next floor up the second is the Joes weapons and armaments floor. here is the Armory, the firing range, and the various labs and Engineering rooms, and the archives, and equipment lockers. this is where you go when youre heading out on a mission.

the third floor is where you'll live namely the living quarters. On this floor is the main training room which is a massive two floored area filled with a running track, a double Olympic sized swimming and Deep Dive pool, Obstacle course, fighting ring, and full-scale weight gym and exercise area. Across from the gym is the main cafeteria where everyone eats, and where Joes work with professional chefs to prepare meals, including a full-scale buffet and requested dietary needs. a PX and pharmacy are also included which have all sorts of personal items, and so on. the medical bay is here as well, and the laundry room and apartments, and the massive movie theater sized main briefing room where movie night is held and friday night films are held including the newest films old classics and even the occasional imax film. the Apartments of course are there and the arcade where everyone can have some fun. Lastly there is a place called "The PIT Stop." which he introduces as a combination of bar, dance club and general place to relax and chill. Just near it is the Worship space its non-denominational and we have someone there most times for counseling as needed. lastly there's the morgue which is near the medical bay. Don't end up there yeah.

the fourth floor is command and control, where the Bosses offices are, as well as Troop services, Communications, theres a small secondary kitchen and mess hall, Security is there and the Brig (dont end up there either its not fun), And the archives where files are secured and stored, lastly the war room is here where the heart of the base is and the big brains make the big decisions, back up enviro controls are here as well.

lastly is the fifth floor where the Observatory is, we have a full-scale astronomical telescope, and our Aeronautics lab, as well as perimeter surveillance, and weather monitoring. Lastly speaking of the stars is the Launch tube, a full-scale ballistic missile launch tube if needed we could host and launch a nuclear strike, but dont worry the main use of the launch tube is space-based craft. cobras been more active up in space and even on the moon and when they get up there we go up as well to stop them. And yes the gym has a full scale zero g training simulator so we can get you NASA certified easily enough.

Theres also a group of pre-planned escape and evac routes for everyone on the chance the PIT is overrun. Furthermore, theres what we call the Decoy lodge which is an operational hotel and recreational area which we use to host VIPs without giving away the PITs security and makes a great cover for the comings and goings of the top brass.

--ooOoo--

Once hes done showing the PIT off and pointing out places of interest he takes a few moments to answer any questions you have about the PIT and its services and when hes done he pulls up another image of a list of tasks.

"So Folks." he says "Normally there'd be at least a dozen of us here running things but for now its just thee and me. So we need to get to work." he starts going down the list explaining each job as he does and when done says "Ok folks we've got some time which means we work, once were done we can play a bit which means we train." He laughs good naturedly "You'll do a lot of that in your off time but dont worry theres plenty of time to play play on your downtime and plenty of ways to blow off steam."

"So he says who wants to do what."

--ooOoo--

Outside the base

4 hours to zero

six individuals gather around a table in the back of a Van listening to their erstwhile leader explain the plan.

"Ok people stay focused were almost there." he looks at one of them who nods and says

"Four hours and counting until launch."

"what if it doesnt work??" one says earning a groan from the rest

"Itll work, dont worry." the leader says " All we need to do stick to the plan."

"How many do you think well face in there?" another woman dressed in armor asks her voice even and dangerous

"A dozen maybe less." he answers "My Contacts caught some chatter apparently the Joes got called out on multiple missions. which is good for us means theyre understaffed, and if were fast enough we can be in and out without anyone the wiser."

"Who cares how many of them there are." one big and beefy armored man says "If we run across them well carve them up." he adds patting his machine gun which earns a few grunts and nods of approval

"NO, Only in if theres no choice, were in this for the information, not a fight, understand me?" He adds pointedly staring down the bigger man who backs down with a not and a grumbled gotcha.

"Do our jobs and we'll all be where we want to be ok?" he says adding an inspiring tone to his otherwise tired voice "Were Scar Squad, we cant be stopped, and were going to get what we want right now."

this is met by a series of cheers from the others as the Faceless leader looks at the clock which now seems to be counting down eternally slowly

There we go. *faceplant*

So roll time

there are a list of tasks for each task you complete you which takes an hour and allows one skill test. others can assist in the task giving the primary person a +1 up on the roll for each person assisting it takes the same time but makes it easier to complete.

for each task completed you get an hour to train which also requires a skill test which cannot be assisted pass or fail uses up a training hour

for each success on the task theres a benefit same with training

heres the list Toymaker has allready completed two of them in the observatory and the lab tasks giving benefits to the team

Relic (Jacob "Jake" Fraser)
Health: 3 Story Points: 0 Condition: Normal

Jake immediately made his way to the kitchens.
He'd learned the hard way with experience that a good meal at the end of the day could make all of the hard work feel like it was worth the effort.

And a bad meal was the cherry on a misery sundae.

He'd spent a lot of time cooking for himself as well as well as assisting in camps.
It just made sense to start there.

In the kitchen he went for an easy quick meal. A Greek lemon Chicken and potatoes recipe which would allow him to prep a lot of food in a very short period of time.
The longest part was really just peeling potatoes. The rest of it was dipping the chicken and potatoes in a mixture of olive oil, minced garlic, rosemary, and lemon juice before putting it in the oven to cook.
A little boiled water and some corn on the cob was underway.
A mixer was set aside to make some dinner rolls, swapping out the sugar for honey to give it a better flavor.
And finally, just to avoid complaints, he put together a functional if uninspired greens and vegetable salad with an olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing.

It wouldn't be winning any Michelin stars but it was a meal he could put together in a short period of time. Honestly the dinner rolls would take the longest of all of it. And more importantly, it would taste good.

Cowboy Ken (Mizuki Kenshiro)
Health: 3 Story Points: 0 Condition: Normal

Ken was slightly soured on the idea of going straight to work, what he'd really wanted to do was head straight on down to the range and put in a few holes. Yet he couldn't go around slacking off, so he took himself on down to the garage so he could get a proper look on horses they've got in stock. Make sure they're all properly brushed and shoed as any good rider should.

He hadn't much experience when it came to breeds like this though, he much favored something a little more on the sleek side than these bulky beasts. As such, he was having a fair amount of struggle getting all the kinks worked out. Half his confusion coming from an embarrassing struggle to find the right mates to the VAMP's bolts. There wasn't anything pretty about it by the end of it all, and his hands were cramping up somethin' fierce once all was said and done. But it was done, and that's all that really counted on the field.

Relic (Jacob "Jake" Fraser)
Health: 3 Story Points: 0 Condition: Normal

After supper was mostly finished, easily watched after by the staff on site, he made his way down to the Equipment locker.
It was, to be kind, a giant mess. It was obvious that somebody had been in a hurry to pass out equipment and to take it back. The good news was that this wasn't hard work. If anything it was mindless scut work.
The big trick was figuring out what the storage layout was before putting things away. The second trick was "don't fix the terrible layout of the storage without getting approval from the quartermaster first".
He learned that lesson the hard way as a kid. After spending hours improving the storehouse he got chewed out by the angry quartermaster and had to put everything back in its original place.

He'd never forgiven that guy.

Either way he'd learned his lesson. If they wanted to live in an inefficient, confused, disorganized mess? That's how they could live.

Dusting his hands off he considered the work and nodded.

Boring. Tedious. Easy. And done.

With that out of the way he went to blow off a little steam.

OOC: Equipment locker cleanup DC5: 1d20 18 1d4 3
21, success.

He hit the sparring mat first. Literally and figuratively. He was good in a brawl, the less rules the better. However most training or sparring matches always put him on the back foot as he was hesiting, holding back from attacks which would be effective fight enders, but would also do some serious hurt to his sparring partner who wouldn't appreceate being hurt like that, and honestly didn't deserve it.

He was getting better at it, though, and he was able to keep his own without accidentally breaking the rules of the spar, or bringing about his own loss by second guessing what the best attack was.

He won as often as he lost, and according to his sparring partner he was was starting to close up a few of the holes in his defense.

One thing he could say for the Joes, they knew their stuff.
OOC: Sparring Training DC10: 1d20 10 1d2 2
12, Success.

Once he'd showered he made his way down to the firing range.
Fighting worked off the stress, but shooting? That was like meditation. Control your breathing, careful positioning of you body, going into a trance like state as you hit target after target.

It was the closest he was willing to get to that fru-fru new age nonsense.
Crystals? Chanting?

Not having any of it.

Put a gun in his hand? Now that sounded like a good way to pass time.

He knew at least one person would agree with him.

As it stood it was a great way to wind down the day, tagging target after target with his clunky old Mateba.

Ghost Raven (Esmerelda Ravenwood)
Health: 4; Story Points: 6

Dial Tone was nothing like the Sergeants in the Rangers. This wasn’t a bad thing, though. Esme just had to learn how to relax while on duty. Right. Relax when anything could be happening and it’d be her job to handle it? How, exactly? Job One was actually food, but she spotted Jake heading that way and moved towards Job Two. The environmental controls. It was simply, really. In the desert if you had AC it was important to keep it running , both for morale and for avoiding heatstroke and heat exhaustion in the group. In more wintry climates it was even more vitally important to keep the heat going. Hypothermia killed, and frostbite could easily maim. Whoever was here before had definitely run out in a hurry. She had to clear out some trash and do a little basic sweeping before she could even get started. And in their haste, they’d accidentally’d some of the controls into the wrong alignment. Bumping from climate to climate depending on floor would be…rather distracting. So let’s fix that.

Ghost Raven (Esmerelda Ravenwood)
Health: 4; Story Points: 6
Condition: Normal

Esme thought she’d organize loose gear. She had a knack for that, but she also saw Jake heading that way and figured he could handle it fine. So instead she had to think for a minute before heading up to the comms room. Communications were very important for a number of reasons. To call for backup in the form of the literal or metaphorical cavalry was what most people thought of. But there was also calling in airstrikes, getting mission updates (like when the rules of engagement change, for example), and what she was about to do here. She wasn’t one of the big brains that did it, but listening to what the locals had to say to each other could be a big advantage. A warning when the enemy passes through, for example. Whether they’re all talking about something else or conspicuously silent. These guys had also left in a hurry, but it wasn’t so bad. The equipment was fine. She just had to toss out a little trash, cop a squat, and have a listen.
OOC wrote:Monitor Local Comms (Streetwise) Diff 5, 11+3=14, success
Huh. Interesting. As usual she didn’t know the importance of any of this, so she ran it up to the specialist. In the case, that’d be Dial Tone. “Sarge? Got some comms chatter for you to decipher. Not my field and it is yours. Sending now.” She leaned back in the chair and stretched. That was work. After work came training. And only after training came fun. But honestly? Training was fun. Especially her favorite type of training. The range. Just a little bang bang. It was important to stay sharp.
Target Practice (Targeting), Diff 10, 13+4=17, Success+Critical
That would do nicely. She felt as sharp a shot as ever, if not sharper. However, in the spirit of staying sharp, she decided to take herself back to the basics. She jogged over to the training area and her old pal/nemesis, the obstacle couse. The tires. The ropes. The big wall to climb. They were all here, and she knew them well. Nothing but to get started.
Obstacle Course (Athletics) Diff 10, 8+1, Failure
Ugh. Not her best work. As always, it was that damn wall. Not the tires, she was deft enough those wouldn’t catch her. Not the ropes. She had enough upper body strength to pull herself along. No, it was the goddamn wall. 5’ 4” was a just a bit too short to get it done, sometimes. At times like this she almost cursed her ancestors for not being tall. She made the walk of shame to the showers, and washed the sweat and dirt of. Write it off, Ravenwood. You’ll do better next time. Anyway, now what? More work? Always something to do on base. Cleaned up, she walked to find a new task.

I was going to do comms but as two people did that, I will flit to something else with the roll
As the others split up, including two people heading up to the comms which had been one of his secondary specialities, he looked around for something he could do. Remembering the basic training he'd received, he found the manual to carry out the basic maintenance and refuelling for the Skyhawks.

Least its still intact he surprised himself as he completed the task.
