Ah, sorry.

I wanted to give more people an opportunity to post before I did.

I shall do so shortly!

Nice twenty. I don't think all the extra dice are added up though, so it's a 28(critical) total right?

yeah its only a 28 but it is a nat 20 and the Sci skill is technically short by 2 but with the nat 20 ill rule its close enough to succeed on both checks because of toymakers background

Ill post the action soon then we move into the messy part

Correct, 28 critical. :) (after a truly dismal roll where it was all 1s and 2s, spent a story point to recover)

I'm not happy with the formatting, very difficult to read. Is there a better way to put the line into coyote code?

Edit: If I'm reading correctly, if the Science was a success, it would have been treated as a critical and if it had been a critical, it would have been a 'double critical' right?

For Coyote code it would seem that using a ; between rolls instead of a + is the best bet so something like this

_: 1D20 = [9] = 9
1D2 = [2] = 2
1D4 = [4] = 4
1D6 = [4] = 4
1D8 = [6] = 6
1D10 = [1] = 1
1D12 = [12] = 12
2D8 = [2, 7] = 9
3D6 = [4, 6, 4] = 14

also you can just do 2D20 for when you have an edge or snag. and it doesnt matter which order theyre in as edge gives you the better of the two and snag the worst of the two

Edit: If I'm reading correctly, if the Science was a success, it would have been treated as a critical and if it had been a critical, it would have been a 'double critical' right?
the science wasnt treated as a critical in this instance as the base roll was a fail but criticals in the system provide some benefit and for me a nat 20 is always a benefit to the characters so in this instance im letting the roll succeed thanks to the nat 20 and the fact that it ties into toymakers background so its sufficient to succeed on the roll

Not sure about coyote, but on Orokos you can type things out as such: 1d20+1;1d2;1d4;1d6

as an aside normally I let the PCs choose the effects of crits whether it be extra damage or an alternate effect or if they have a suggestion as to how the crit can be applied my own version of how do you want to do it persay

just in this instance theres no other real benefit to the crit on the tech side of things but it does affect the science side so it makes sense to use it in that fashion

Goodness, the game writers set the initial intro storyline at a shockingly high threshhold! (or not realizing just where they put the bar)

What's next, planet crackers?

Lotta info to take in at once, there.

>Combat Knife
>The pistol
>Ken does not pick up a rifle or shotgun (He won't ever)
>Ken will not pick up grenades (Seriously ain't his style)
>Tactical Armor

What thing can I get for the pistol, and could I instead trade in my rifle/shotgun requisition option for a second?

I and everyone else also seem to have a second upgrade option, not sure what all would be good to get. Might bug Ark about it.

Also, I seriously doubt I'll be flying while we're crawling around in the tunnels, hah.
