Avatar Legends: Ash & Steel [OOC thread]

Post by Gunmetal_Rainbow »

With Soulbound concluding, I've been thinking about what I might like to run next, and...well, my Avatar Legends pledge came in not too long ago and figured maybe I'd see if anyone else on the board here has looked into it and might like to play one of the adventures from there.

For any who don't know, Avatar Legends is a Powered by the Apocalypse game with a few tweaks, such as Techniques and the Balance mechanic. Developed by Magpie games, it is an officially licensed ttrpg for the Avatar universe.

I'm not sure which adventure I'll run, and might leave it to the potential players in a poll, I'm just gauging interest in the game itself for the moment. The intention would be the run one of the adventures, and not do something of an extended campaign, as I'm still getting my feet wet with the game.

Any takers? Questions?

That's one! I would like at last three! (Though, I was worried I wasn't even going to get one at the rate things were going here lol, but to be fair, I guess a full 24 hours hasn't gone by yet)

I actually think we have that book! My dad backed it some time back himself. I'll put down some interest.

I've played a few powered by the apocalypse games. Those the ones with the playbooks, right?

What era would we be in?

It is!

As for the era, I have all the published adventures from the KS, and the newer Starter set that was released, so they cover all the eras currently published. I was figuring to put it to a vote as to which my prospective players can agree on. I have no super strong preference. :)

Depending on if Vivid and Corrigon are more certain about their interest, you could at least have your three or four. I'll be honest, I wouldn't have predicted GI Joe to be the more popular pick of interest, but perhaps I'm not considering the forum demographics.

Very solidly interested. I'd like an era before Korra's I think. I loved Korra but I think the stories of pre-Korra eras have a lot of potential.

The 100 year war era, or perhaps around Aang's reemergence might be good for adventure and drama both.

The Aang era in Avatar Legends is after the events of the show, as oppose to during the same timeline.

100 year war can take place more or less any time between Roku's death and shortly before Aang's emergence from the ice.

Might offer more player freedom for the war era while still allowing for interesting adventures, as there could theoretically be escaped air nomads roaming in secret at that time. If someone wanted to airbend, that is.

I'm fine with anything. I don't recall what the adventures in the starter set are in terms of eras, but Ash and Steel is the 100 Year War era adventure in the adventure guide.

It's an escort mission where you are tasked with the protection of a defecting fire nation general to Ba Sing See, carrying war plans as leverage for her defection.

Looks like it could be a fun one, given the factors and goals in play.

Actually, while I'm at it, I'll give a rundown of the five adventures I have access to right now while I'm away from home and you guys can make an informed decision.

Kyoshi Era, "Earth and Root", A crime in Ba Sing Se has officials abusing the situation and may destabilize the entire city. The city must be helped until the Avatar can be brought to set things right .

Roku era, "Fire and Brimstone", A supply of precious metals has gone missing at a technologies summit and all nations in attendance are suspects. Failure to find the truth could mean war.

100 Year War, "Ash and Steel", One of Ozai's generals has detected and stolen vital war plans as leverage to reach Ba Sing Se and the fire lord has no intention of letting that happen.

Aang era, "Air and Wind", The group is approached by someone who is wanted for the theft of some plans for a flying device, but not all is as it appears.

Korra era, "Water and Mist", Varrick has been kidnapped and there some suspicious corporate moves happening regarding the management of Republic City's water management. Discover the truth before it's too late.

I like the Aang era one, though that leaves Airbenders off the table.

The Roku one feels a little too social investigation.

for the 100 years one, are the PCs working for the fire lord?

Ii don't know much about the Kyoshi era.

The Korra one could be cool too.
