Octogirl decides to stay where she is and punch out at the elemental with her fist pulses.

Octogirl makes a valiant effort, but it seems that this is one creature she can't best back with raw power alone. Her fists fly straight through its element body, the seering heat nearly enough to hurt her back if not for the protective shielding.

GM: It is flat out immune to physical damage due to its Insubstantial nature.

Exemplar
Hero Points: 1; Luck Points: 2; Condition: Fatigued, Bruised -1

Fully aware that the Fire Fiend is still conscious despite the best efforts of the others, Exemplar raises her hand to her temple once again and unleashes a second blast of psychic energy into its mind (though from the perspective of the others, nothing seems to happen!)...

Warlock
HP: 1; Cond: Fatigued

Sam thought things through very quickly. The binding spell had worked marvelously. The Fire Fiend was stuck in place and couldn't move much. Sure, it could still belch flame, but it couldn't make those flaming charges nor could it dodge out of the way... But despite the other Players unloading into it with their attacks, the creature was infuriatingly resilient on account of its fire-body allowing it to withstand those blows to an absurd degree.

Of course, the best way to really do some damage would be with a spell that was diametrically opposed to the flame-element... and with all the power that Martin could muster. But to deal as much damage as he could with that spell, Sam knew that he would have to break some of the most common rules for playing a mage-character in an RPG...

Channeling the power of the waters all around him, Martin started to charge forward. He had started with a quick jog that broke into a run and finally flat-out sprinting as he dashed forward with the grace of a man whose only experience with sports had been failing tryouts to play freshman soccer in high-school. But then, Martin was also pulling with him the flowing streams of the river, forging them into ice-cold spears and coiling whips that were being brought together to forge the body of an eastern dragon forged out of ice and river-water, roaring and whipping its furious head as the ghostly wisps surged from the Wandering Warlock and into the spell to infuse it with the power to slay spirits with the dragons elemental fury.

Martin didn't stop charging forward until he was right up next to the Fire Fiend bound in the watery tendrils, a serpentine torrent of watery fury surging around him. The moment he got within spitting distance of the monster, he unleashed the spell upon it with a mighty roar: "If laser blasts and energy-fists won't take you down, then how about the Rage of the North Sea Dragon King!"
OOC wrote:Martin is going to Run up to the Fire Fiend until he is in Close-Range with it. Eyeballing it looks like more than 30-feet between the center of the docks where he was standing and where the Fire Fiend is, so he's gonna make DC 15 Athletics check to increase ground movement speed by +1 rank as a free action: Athletics: 1D20+2 = [17]+2 = 19. That should give him enough movement to make it to Close-Range with the Fire Fiend.

Once he's in Close-Range, Martin's gonna hit the Fire Fiend with a Mystic Blast and use Power Attack for 2. I don't think Partial Cover applies if Warlock is right next to the Fire Fiend? Descriptors of the attack are gonna be Ice/Water-Elemental and Spiritual on account of Raiment of the Exorcist. Also, since he's in Close-Range, this is a Finishing Attack.

Mystic Blast: 1D20+7-2 = [9]+7-2 = 14 Should be enough to hit the Fire Fiend. That'll be rank 13+2+5 Damage --> DC 35 Toughness save from the Fire Fiend.

(Will) 14!

The phantom pain hits the fiend once more, sending it further into an unquenchable rage. If only it could figure out what hero was causing it, it could flam-broil the pitiful mortal's flesh as a punishment. If only it could slip itself loose of these bindings, these infuriating chains, then none of these pitiful fleshy-creatures would stand in their way. It struggled and strained, the magical chains starting to crack from it's efforts. Just a little bit more, just a little bit longer, and-

*Crack!*

It roared out in victory as the bindings finally gave way, turning abuot in an effort to charge forth and meet these pitiful creatures in battle once more. Already it could sense the presence of another, that Mage that had humiliated it thus far. A perfect way to reassert it's dominance would be to put it's would-be jailer out of their misery. So blinded by anger, it didn't notice the halo of energy surrounding the warlock until it was too late.

(Toughness) A natural one, 9 total!

As it rushed head-on, a tide of water slammed into it as well. As the wave hit, the elemental found itself snuffed out entirely only to be replaced by an explosion of superheated steam that flew out from the maneuver. Those within the cargo hold and just outside took the full brunt of the searing mist, but as it finally cleared and vision normalized, there was nothing left of the Fiend. The elementals both had been dealt with, at least for now.

GM: The combat with the elementals is over! Anyone within the hold please make a DC 25 check to resist being flash-boiled by Mark's shockingly effective maneuver.

RS flailed a bit as the magic-user came rushing in and blasting the fire elemental with water, resulting in a massive wash of steam. Fortunately, her force field held against it, preventing any damage, but gosh if it didn't startle her and cause her to vanish from the stream for a few moments bfore the steam could clear.

Wandering Warlock
HP: 1; Cond: Fatigued

Warlock had... well, he'd forgotten about what happened when you put a bunch of water into an open flame that's being contained by metal. Usually, putting water onto a fire would douse it and smother the fuel the fire was burning. Sam had clearly forgotten about how the Fire Fiend had also been hot enough to vaporize the water when the telekinetic had tried to drown it, because when the Fire Fiend exploded, it also caused all of the water Martin had used to attack it with to boil and evaporate instantly... and that change in pressure caused it to seek the only exit it could: the molten hole that Martin and the neon-colored heroine had just run through.

"Oh, Shishkebabs of Sarrukh!" Martin swore as he was blasted off his feet, but not before he had been quick enough to ensure his protective spells shielded him. The rush of steam was great enough to scald, and if he hadn't already been busy fighting a fiery menace, might not have withstood that blast of fumes from the smothering of the Fire Fiend.

With the disappearance of the Fire Fiend, Exemplar looks around with all of her senses to get an idea of the current situation.

In particular, whether anyone is in danger, and what the state of the formerly mind controlled dock workers is.

The Operative
CND: Exhausted. HP: 1 JuryRig: 2
Utility Belt: Relocation disks
Projection System: Lasers
Scanner Suite: Detect life, Analytical, radius, Rapid

Similarly, the Operative increased the gain on her triage scanners {Detect Life, Analytical, radius, rapid}.
Perception: 1D20+14 = [20]+14 = 34
should be -2 since exhuasted so 32

Maggie Cole

Maggie focused on why her vision was fuzzy around the edges and a heart icon was pulsing in the corner of her vision. She had to consult the cheat sheet to find out that she was very low on stamina and needed rest.

As the steam disperses into the cool harbor air, Ocotogirl seems to be the only one that came up worse off from the encounter after having accidently flown into it's direct path. It tames the heroes a moment to recover from the ordeal overall, as the adrenaline rush starts to taper off and slow. Exemplar and the Operative both however are quick to roll with the situation by surveying the area and the downed civilians.

The former notes their mental states seemed to have been left foggy from the ordeal, their dreams and thoughts still awash with anger. It's fading, but it may be a few hours until they're back to normal all on their own. Maggie for her part takes note of their various injuries, noting that most of them at most seem bruised and suffering from headaches. The people who were affected by the fire will need to have their wounds treated once more, but nothing seems to be fatal.

Both heroes note, however, that there's at least one person/mind that's fully healthy/cognizant, if partially intoxicated. Their location is difficult to pinpoint, but they're somewhere nearby. The reasonable assumption is that they're doing something to mask their presence, and it's only now that everyone else has been knocked out that they're even detectable.

Once the heroes within the punctured ship leave, everyone hears a voice echoing out across the emptied area. It's deep baritone has something in common with rocks grinding together, and there's an almost amused lilt towards the end of his words. Words that are, everyone notes, almost entirely foreign to them. Those that fought the Alemental notice a similarity and identify it as being the same language. "ᛁᛟᚢ×ᚢᛖ ᚨᛚᛚ ᛗᚨᛞᛖ ᚨ ᛗᛖᛊᛊ, ᚺᚨᚢᛖᚾ×ᛏ ᛁᛟᚢ?"

There's a pressure at the back of everyone's minds, as they recognize the indicators of a Villainous PC enacting a monologue sequence.

GM: Details about Monologues in OOC.

The voice of Exemplar rings persuasively in the minds of all of the civilians in the area.

*There is a villain monologuing here! Exit the area in as quickly as possible in a calm and orderly fashion!*

She spends a Luck point to try again.

That'll do!

Hellcat
HP: 1; LP: 0; Condition: Normal (Monologued)

Hellcat paused, looking slowly around the area- now that she wasn't moving in quite such an outlandish fashion, the cat-like "ears" on her cowl had perked up, and they flicked a bit as she turned her head. She had been on the receiving end of monologues before, though she usually didn't pay enough attention for them to really take hold- but usually it was just her, not this kind of big crowd scene, with so many people caught up in the speechifying... She jabbed a thumb out in a random direction. "I guess all of that might make more sense if we had had some of that beer first, right?" At some level, she wanted to roll out and meet up with whatever authorities might be responding, to tell them what was going on- but bringing more people into the mix when things were still unresolved didn't seem like the best idea.

Somewhere below her conscious mind, someone curled a lip into a sneer. She had been monologued at before at various stages of development, and it wasn't any more fun now than it had been in the "old days"...

Anyone that was within range and conscious enough to to follow through comply with Exemplar's order, making a break for relative safety. Those that can pull away people they could get to who were knocked out in the the recent fight, though a fair amount of civilians still remain. There's a a dry chuckle throughout the surrounding area, "ᛏᚨᚲᛁᛜ ᚨᚹᚨᛁ ᚨᛚᛚ ᛗᛁ ᛞᚱᛁᚾᚲᛁᛜ ᛒᚢᛞᛞᛁᛖᛊ ᚾᛟᚹ, ᚨᚱᛖ ᛁᛟᚢ? ᚹᚺᚨᛏ ᚨ ᛊᚺᚨᛗᛖ."

Anything from anybody else?

RAINBOW STAR
[HP:1] Cond: Fatigued - -1

Caught in the monologue loop, RS could do nothing but look around to try and spot the source. Until she saw it, she couldn't try and will through to disrupt the effect. "I don't know what you're saying, why don't you come out so I can read your lips?"

The chat loved quippy one-liners and it worked in line with her 'character', so RS tried to use them when she could come up with them. Honestly, they were usually groaners, but most of the chat found it endearing that she kept trying. Sometimes she actually landed a good one.
Perception to spot the monologuer: 1D20+7 = [13]+7 = 20

And just in case to try and taunt the speaker to come on out. Deception to Trick them seems most appropriate here. Deception to Trick the speaker into showing themselves.: 1D20+8 = [7]+8 = 15

If you think Persuade would be more appropraite though, it's 2 higher.

Concentrating hard, Rainbow Star feels like the voice might be originating from one of the nearby warehouses. ᛟᚺ? ᛏᚺᛖ ᛗᛟᚱᛏᚨᛚ ᚹᛟᛗᚨᚾ ᛁᛊ ᛊᛈᛖᚲᛁᛜ" There's a dry chuckle here, "ᚨᚷᚨᛁᚾ. ᛊᚢᚲᚺ ᚨ ᚲᚢᚱᛟᚢᛊ ᚦᛁᛜ. ᚠᛚᛁᛏᛏᛖᚱᛁᛜ ᚨᛒᛟᚢᛏ ᚢᛈᛟᚾ ᚦᛖ ᚹᛁᛜᛊ ᛟᚠ ᚨ ᚢᚨᛚᛖᚱᛁᛖ."

Her stream she notes seems to be getting a lot of pings, at least one person in the chat seems to have identified the voice in the chat as being vaguely Nordic. Likely a pseudo language inspired by the real one. She can't tell if she's having an effect on him, but the speaker dosnt seem to show regardless.
