My guess is it is an older style building that's been maintained.

Lots of the newer buildings tend to go for the flat top which, as TM noted, is troublesome to maintain compared to other options.

Another (possibly relevant, possibly silly question: Where is Capital City, geography-wise? New England, New York, Midwest, West Coast? Allison needs to know what kind of weather drama she might need to cope with...

The short answer is that Capital City replaces San Diego, in California.

I honestly thought about one of the x-14 rooms, but I figured Allison could add some cleaning chores to her task list. Plus she might have need of a mop for those pesky indoor rainstorms...

No elevator? Students carrying stuff up the stairwell all at once has got to suck. And there should be more than one stairwell unless the building is VERY old, for fire evacuation purposes.

It's not because it's the biggest.

That's just a part of it!
1) It's big!
2) It's on the ground floor which means getting in and out at night is easier
3) Ground floor means easier escape in case of accidents or fire
4) Less neighbors. There's one room to the south, and one directly above. Most room have double that, or are right by high traffic areas like the hallway to the bathrooms or the stairway.

Skew was early enough to get 514 or whatever the top floor biggest room is.

I'd imagine room assignments to be a bit more randomized, others there could be fights for the best real estate. Requests might be allowed, though.

Violet would much rather be up on the top floor, but I figure she can't always get what she wants.

Hmm... Not sure when T-Man is planning to kick the narrative off, and Jessamine getting her things could take a couple hours in-game. Maybe I could have a Phantasm wondering around checking things out for her, just for something to do.
