Albert listens and nods. " I...I don't want to run away. I have done nothing wrong. I...want to stay and help out, if I can. Especially since I kind of owe you my life. Thank you for that." He takes a deep breath. " I had no plans to do anything with these powers. As I said, I wanted nothing but a normal, quiet life. But now...I probably should train them. I mean, I only learned now that I can turn my body into electricity and heal myself..."

"The only problem with training is you might have trouble hiding the fact that you are training," Deborah says. "Perhaps we need could help you find a hidden facility for this training. Or a place that would not give off literal sparks as you practiced.

"Of course a place to train might be useful in general. Let me think about that. I might be able to come up with a space."

Deborah makes a note for herself to look into perhaps a warehouse outside of town she could purchase and use to store stuff or to do larger photography sessions. As long as it wouldn't bankrupt her. Or maybe a "gym" for sunstormers...

"Excellent!" Khemis tells Albert approvingly.

"For training, there are abandoned 'L' lines and stations, and other tunnels and things under the city that might do the job," suggests Khemis. "And getting an understanding of your powers is definitely a good idea!"

"But I think we should let Charger know what is going on too," she adds, and begins texting a summary of what they've found out to her.

And sends a copy to 'Lawscribe98', the internet law person who has been offering advice as well.

"I can't help with finding a great place to train, but considering your abilities so far? Someplace close to natural earth would be good, and away from power-lines. Electricity moving around, especially at high voltages, generates magnetic fields that will play havoc on nearby electronics. And a good source of ground will be a god-send if you have trouble with control while training..." Sunny reminded Albert, and by extension, the others. "But once you have that figured out, let me know when you plan on training. I'm always open to helping out with figuring out how to master your abilities, especially given how much I've been learning about my own over the last month. Plus, I'm durable enough to not worry about being in danger while you figure things out with your abilities."

"Not that these gals have accepted my offers to help them experiment and master their own..." He shot Deborah a smirk, the memory coming back to him of a conversation they had had a month prior, soon after the Plaza incident and Albert's shooting. "I can recall our psychic friend here saying she was interested in flying lessons and honing her telekinetics, but never made the time for it. You gonna do the same?" Sunny joked.

After spending a few minutes unsuccessfully trying to shoot down the moon with her gun or using her gravity manipulation power to somehow bring it to come crashing down upon the Earth, Helen looked at her watch yet again. Satisfied at what she saw, she remained where she was, hovering a hundred feet in the air. The cold breeze from this height was annoying but at least it kept her mind in sharp focus.

DuPont can keep. He was pathetic, nothing more. Let the FBI or whoever the heck the other two clowns who had sent her on this wild goose chase in the first place, deal with him. Helen was tired of being everybody's errand girl for tonight.

Eventually she managed to float gently down to the ground and walked to her car. Once inside, she flipped on the police radio. The broadcasts were pretty much the same: assault, muggings, rape, domestic violence and the occasional rousting of vagrants who had no place to sleep.

Helen ignored most of that, of course. She reached into the glove compartment and took out a new bottle of Jack Daniels.

She guzzled nonstop until it was half empty and staggering with bottle in hand, Helen left the police car and suddenly loudly enough to wake the dead, sang Paper Lace's "The Night Chicago Died.'.

Off key as usual:

"Daddy was a cop on the east side of Chicago.
Back in the USA, back in the bad old days.
In the heat of a summer night.
In the land of the dollar bill.
When the town of Chicago died.
And they talk about it still,
When a man named Al Capone
Tried to make that town his own
And he called his gang to war
With the forces of the law.
I heard my mama cry.
I heard her pray the night Chicago died.
Brother, what a night it really was!
Brother, what a fight it really was!
Glory be!
I heard my mama cry!
I heard her pray the night Chicago died.
Brother, what a night the people saw!
Brother, what a fight the people saw!
Yes, indeed!
And the sound of the battle rang.
Through the streets of the old east side.
'Til the last of the hoodlum gang,
Had surrendered up or died
There was shouting in the street,
And the sound of running feet
And I asked someone who said
'"Bout a hundred cops are dead!"
I heard my mama cry.
I heard her pray the night Chicago died.
Brother, what a night it really was!
Brother, what a fight it really was!
Glory be!
I heard my mama cry.
I heard her pray the night Chicago died.
Brother, what a night the people saw!
Brother, what a fight the people saw!
Yes, indeed!
Then there was no sound at all,
But the clock up on the wall,
Then the door burst open wide
And my daddy stepped inside
And he kissed my mama's face
And he brushed her tears away.
The night Chicago died.
Na-na-na, na-na-na, na-na, na-na-na!!!!!
The night Chicago died.
Brother, what a night the people saw!
Brother, what a fight the people saw!
Yes, indeed!
The night Chicago died.
Na-na-na, na-na-na, na-na, na-na-na!!!!!
The night Chicago died.
Brother, what a night it really was!
Brother, what a fight it really was!
Glory be!
The night Chicago died.
Na-na-na, na-na-na, na-na, na-na-na!!!!!
The night Chicago died.
Brother what a night the people saw!!!
Brother what a fight the people saw!!!"

This continued for nearly twenty minutes before a squad car pulled up next a prancing Paladino.

One policeman stepped out carefully.

"You okay, Hel?"

Helen blinked several times before focusing her drunken attention on the four or was it five blurry cops in front of her.

"Heyyyyy...... It's coolio aaand all!!!" she slurred.

The other cop who was in the driver's seat rolled down the window and called out: "Should we tell her?"

The first cop shook his head. "Nah, Paladino is tanked up tonight. Come on, Helen. We'll take you home. We'll also have someone pick up your car."

As he gently took Helen's arm and escorted her to the car.

However he leaned closer and whispered: "You didn't hear this from me but there is a rumor going around that someone, don't know or much care who; on the force is leaking confidential information about the sunstormers to outsiders. Not sure if it's the press or special interest groups. Thought you should know. I know you're drunk as freaking hell and most likely won't remember anything the next morning. So here." With that he placed a folded piece of paper into the front pocket of her uniform.

"This conversation never happened so don't ask me about it ever again."

By the time Helen was unceremoniously dumped in the back of the police car, she was already unconscious and snoring like a hog in a mud wallow.

"Well, I'm pretty sure the internet will give us a list of more electrical-type powers than we could possibly imagine that you could try!" chips in Khemis. "Who knows how many of them you might have? So far we've got teleporting through power cables (is it always damagingly?), electrical healing of some kind, being able to overcome internet encryption..."

"All of us training together is probably a good idea, I agree," she continues. "Once we've got a suitable space for it."

"But apart from that, what's the best way forward? Do we find out more about these guys and then expose them? Or try to use what we find to apply pressure more quietly? I prefer the first idea as this stuff is deeply bad and needs to be exposed, but I'm willing to be convinced..."

Albert listens, then says, " To be honest...I would want them exposed. I...I don't want to be on the run and, honestly, it makes me a bit angry. I am being treated like public enemy number one...after I got shot! And I didn't choose to have these powers. And now they are sending some Captain America-wannabes after me and others? That's just not right. I always thought of myself as a patriot. I love my country. But this is going too far."

"No, it's not right," agrees Khemis. "And yes they should be stopped now. Before they start going proper Nazi on people. Exposé it is then, assuming you are both OK with us doing that as a group? Otherwise, I'll give it a go on my own..."

She looks at Deborah and Sunny as she says the last.

"People like that always seem to miss the second bit of 'my country right or wrong'," she muses. "The part where it continues 'if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right.'"

"If that's what you guys think is best... then alright." Sunny gave in, after some internal debate. "But the question remains -- do we try to keep this quiet, or are we going to be loud about it? Because there's still two days until these mugs meet with the government spook running their outfit, and we need to have a plan for what we're gonna do till then."

"I think we should keep it quiet until we've found out more," suggests Khemis. "Which we hopefully will once we - or Deborah at least - gets a chance to have a look at the spook guy. But until then, could Deborah maybe have a look at some more of their squad? Find out more from them? There was the guy who even his own team member seemed to think was going off the deep end in particular it might be worth looking at. See just how much of a danger to everyone around him he might actually be..."

"But once we have enough evidence to blow this whole thing wide open?" she continues in a serious tone. "Then I think we should go loud. As loud as we can."

" Stupid bitch", a misshapen mouth grumbled after Gravity Cop had left. Slowly, Dupont moved his new, hulking shape to avoid breaking any more furniture. Polypous growths on his shoulders smelled the air with new, extremely heightened senses, making sure she was indeed gone, before he sat down on the floor in front of his computer. His chair hadn't survived the first week after his transformation.
Neither had his mirrors, though for other reasons. He knew how he looked now, there was no need to remind him.

His skin was now pale white, dark veins showing underneath. It glistened with a sweet-smelling oily substance he constantly exuded. His face - for lack of a better term - had all the aesthetic appeal of a melted spider. The Sunstorm had granted many people fabulous powers. He had instead been gifted with horror.

But he was not going to take it lying down. In his mind, this was just another instance of the world being fundamentally unfair. He'd been unfortunate enough to draw the short straw his entire life. But he would fight back. The universe might have wanted him to be a victim, but he would turn the tables.

Re-opening his chat window, he typed, quickly losing himself in the mire of affirmation, self-loathing and blind rage he and his fellows were stewing in.
Soon, it would be time. Very soon. He and the others were only waiting for the word. Word from the Alpha.

OOC: Waiting for responses from Deborah and Sunny...

I think the plan is find out as much as possible, then release it to maximum effect, and in parallel find a space to train in and use it. But the others may have other or better ideas!

"I unfortunately agree. It is the least dangerous of all the dangerous plans, and I include doing nothing in that list," Deborah says. "We don't really know one another well. But, we have to trust someone in this world that seems to be turning against us. Let's go about our normal lives the next two days while we wait for the meet up with the boss.

"Albert, I don't know what to tell you. If you completely disappear now, that meeting might get changed to another day. I hate to ask this. But, it might be best if you at least make a few appearances at your apartment the next couple days. If you had said you wanted to run, I'd say run fast and run far. And that would mean we would have to maintain surveillance on the folk watching you.

"If you stick around, that means the-- we need a code name for those folks watching you... the scouts... I know it sucks as a name but it'll be convenient shorthand. If you stick around, that means the scouts won't get jittery and change the appointment for when they meet their boss. Assuming that can do that. It's likely they are far more paranoid than we are and we know there are people out to get us."

Albert hesitates, then takes a deep breath and nods. " I can do that. Only trouble is...no one saw me leave the apartment. So...I'd have to sneak in or...use the current again."
