That's a really good, empassioned plea, so here's what I'll do...

Ericka has 5 persuade, and if we assume the last 5 dice rolled are that, she only got one success on it, leaving 3 from her base cunning.

I'll allow Ericka to reroll just her Persuasion dice, but with advantage, and that will add to the 3 successes of the original cunning result.

Or more simply, roll 5 dice, success on 4 or better.

6, 1, 6, 5, 4 (That would be four successes from Persuade alone, then!)

for a total of seven successes overall
The mayor still looks defensive, but hearing murmurs from the townsfolk behind him, you can almost seem him sweating. While he has his convictions, he has the rest of the town to consider and Ericka's words seem to have reached them, giving Ciego little other option but to relent.

"You understand, that if you do this and fail, we all suffer for it." he glared at the group to let that sink in, but before the silence lasts long enough for people to think that's just another excuse, the scarred, elderly mayor speaks again, "so you'd best not fail. We cannot offer much in way of support, but this is our home, and you will have anything we can provide to help defend it."

The town roars with approval and support, ready to do anything they can to aid the wielders and put an end to the sacrifices and the threat to their home.

Lloyd scowls. The hypocrisy of the man caring about his people's suffering now when for decades he's been killing someone every so often in the most horrible manner that the akuma likely didn't know or care about. Lloyd judged that nothing positive would come from voicing his opinions even if he could find all the Southland words to express his thoughts. He stayed quiet.

Lloyd put part of his attention on the Bruiser, Willow. If he was this upset by the mayor's words she might be incensed enough to do something... unfortunate.

Willow looks a bit on guard, but the mayor won't be the mayor much longer if he backpedals on this kind of thing, giving the town hope that the sacrifices will no longer be necessary.

It's evident the town only supported the sacrifices as a means of coping. It's not easy for anyone in this world to just up and move, so many people have to make due with circumstances as they are.

Even the mayor, his driving force was protecting the town and itta people by any means necessary, and the Warden ceremonial station certainly wasn't his idea, he perpetuated it out of necessity, the idea being to give the chosen sacrifice due respect for that which they were chosen to do.

It may not have been right, but without the guild supporting the town, they had no real other options.

Ericka Akcire

The woman's shoulders slumped forward as the tension was lost, finding relief that she wouldn't need to exert herself before this coming encounter. Looking back to her friends, "Well, if they're offering their support now... Do you think there's anything we could ask of them, to help us?"

Lloyd looks over at the sense-shifted gunswoman. "The next step is hers." he says.

"Soon, portal will open up to old Petram. Mayor, you were there. Look through and tell us how to navigate to where you last saw Akuma and most significant buildings. Akuma attracted to Power and importance." The Northman says.

The mayor frowns. "Where I last saw Helmontra will be useless information....it was decades ago. I don't know the full extent of damage the blaze did either, but I'll do what I can to direct you if it will help.."

Willow speaks up. "Any bandages or elixers the village can spare would be helpful for the fight ahead." A few villagers, probably shop owners, nod and race off to go collect what they can.

"Fuel, batteries." Lloyd says.

"Barrels of water and cloaks we can soak." The Northman requests "Fight fires."

The mayor directs the townsfolk away to collect whe they can quickly. Given the lack of prep time, they are at least able to return with three barrels full of water and several clocks of varied descriptions and sizes. There a re not a lot of supplies to be had in the other department. They are able to turn up two full canisters of compressed gas, a container of liquid fuel and a battery, all of which were probably taken from various generators or heating elements. For medical supplies, they bring plenty of bandages and a medical kit, but don't have many elixers, supplying three regular elixers and two strong elixers, handed over personaly by one of the town's merchants, probably taken driectly from inventory. Seeing the group has some firearms, the merchant even brought some previous ammunition for Dog and Moira.

Besides this bounty, the villagers bring other things that might be useful; lengths of rope, flasks of oil, flasks of alcohol (whisky mostly, though there are a few glass bottles of beer), bits of food for a last minute meal, nails, various handiman tools and the like.
Three full barrels of water. Not easily moved, so not something you can take with you, but it's around 120 gallons of water, so you have a fair amount to work with in small scale. Maybe enough to set up some kind of trap on this side of the portal, but too much to realistically haul with you. Water's heavy.

There are enough cloacks for you two take two each if you want, so that's about 10 cloaks.

There are 20 bandages and three medical kits. Bandages are not very useful in combat, but the medical kit can be used in combat as a Heal check as a 1AT action. 3 Elixers (restore 1 Injury), 2 Strong Elixers (restores 3 Injuries) and the Life Elixer (restores 6 injuries) can be used as a Free action with no skill check needed.

Lastly, Moira and Dog can add 10 ammo for their respective firearms.

Besides that, there are plenty of mundane materials and tools that might be useful if you have any ideas you want to try and implement before going through the portal. If it's mundane material or tools and not a huge quantity needed, you can assume you have what you need available.
After sorting out who might take what, Moira is able to, through her raptor's eyes, spy the charred skeleton of what must have been Old Petram. The whole flight when moira has checked in, she has seen nothing but a desert of ash. Small winds picking up and blowing the gray grit, depositing it in small dunes, the odd glowing ember here or there.

With the way the ashes shift, she can't make out any tracks, nor does she spot any fires large enough to be letting off a large enough smoke plume to be worth investigating. Having opted to go high and fast, it didn't take long to find the place, and once she did, she knows it's the right place.

Old Petram looks to have originally been smaller than the town they are currently in, with less technology, which makes sense as it stood several decades ago. What must have been simple homes follow a simple layout, though despite the devastation of the surrounding lands, the town itself withstood shockingly well, perhaps Helmontra prevented what damage she coudl to the structures themselves during or after the attack on old Petram's people, but time and neglact and the proximity to an akuma with a clear affinity for flames have left their toll on this ruin of a town with most of the structures charred, collapsed either fully or partially with perpetually glowing embers visible anywhere flames have touched. The intensity and frequency of the embers seems to come to an epicenter she can see from above, and at that center, she can see a figure standing, hunched over.

The figure, though hunched, still stands perhaps three feet taller than the tallest human any of you have seen, skin a pallid gray, not unlike ash itself, cracked with veins glowing like embers themselves, walking with what appears to be a large beam, likewise glowing with embers but otherwise charred black.

More startling, is that even from the distance Moira spots the figure, she can feel it's glowing eyes settle on her raptor, shortly after feeling her raptor having to take evasive maneuvers as intense bolts of flames streak through the air to try and take the totem down.
I don't need any rolls for Raptage just yet. You need to choose to either land at a safe distance, or yolo in to try and complete the portal without getting blasted.

If you land further away, there is the possbility of an extra encounter to deal with before reaching the akuma. If you yolo it and fail, well, you lose the portal.

If you would like to yolo it, I'll need a Recovery check as if it were combat. This will determine how many attacks Raptage can try to evade. I'll be rolling six attacks. If it survives those attacks, then you've successfully landed to complete the portal and we'll go from there.

Sound good? Any questions from anyone?

Lloyd will grunt a thanks and enjoy a light meal with beer. "Sashura likely close fighting. She should get strong elixir. Maybe Willow too, if you coming." he phrases it like a question. "If not, Dog or I probably."

"Hand cart for 1 barrel of water? I pull." he says. Ideally they'd like to have 1 barrel on their side to actively douse anyone on fire. He soaks cloaks and blankets intending to bring sopping wet cloth as well.

Someone is able to provide a handcart for Lloyd's request. It may get difficult to maneuver if the terrain gets rough on the other side of the portal, but it's reletively sturdily built.

Ericka Akcire

Already the wielder was mustering up her inner magics, having produced a small stock of disposable spears as well as bringing out Enimeg to join Gemini. Not being the most technically minded, she wasn't entirely sure on what they could do to create a trap using the materials provided. Moira seemed much more in tune with the engineering of it all.

Ericka does follow Lloyd's example however, making sure the cloaks were readily soaked to help protect against the heat and flames of Old Pertram.

Sashura Vlasova

Sashura pondered a bit as she used a whetstone on the blade of her weapon.

She had two strong elixers of her own, but another probably wouldn't hurt. At worst, she could let someone else use it if necessary if she didn't have time to use Chelydra's Restorative powers.

Two more gas canisters may prove useful, if she calls upon the Auto-Buckler many, many times.

She noted the cloaks. Soaking them in water would prevent fire damage, but won't do much against hot, dusty air.

"I might have something that may make the journey more bearable." she stated as she invoked her Arcane Trick : Adjust Climate. "This trick makes a bubble of perfect weather that lasts a whole day. Great for dealing with frigid wastes and blistering deserts ! Hot and dusty ash fields shouldn't be that differerent."
The check needed vs CR 1 :
Arcane trick roll 12/20: 5#1d6t5 0 0 0 1 0
1 success, so no Haunts.

Before going through Lloyd will activate Symbiotic so Heartwood infuses him with the strength of a mighty tree in order to pull the cart better.
