Did you say Helmontra *wasn't* floating? Maybe it's an age/power thing? Does our training cover that?

Re: Tales from the Trails (Soulbound) - (Full)
I actually failed to mention, but no, Helmontra is not floating. But not all akuma do. Younger ones remain planted on the ground for the most part while as they get older, they have more excess magical power that gets used to levitate and eventually just fly.
But even the older ones don't need to float/levitate/fly if they don't want to, especially when they shapeshift. A floating human would be a mostly dead giveaway. (or at least cause some unreast. I know wielders can do it, but even wielders levitating around would cause people to be uneasy with the free use of magic power.)
That would be common enough knowledge for wielders I think, I won't call for a roll on it anyways.

Sometimes it's more intimidating for such a powerful creature to just casually walk towards you.
Am I dead? Am I alive? The answer may surprise you!

I can already take a guess as to what that was, but should I roll a lore check?

Go for it. Roll your d6 while you're at it!

Well, I was going to say I should put another rank into Divine but apparently I did that last year and didn't remember to write it down.
I'm thinking maybe bumping up Blinding might be a good idea

Blinding 2 would increase the tier save to 4 and radius to 3 tiles. Or you could add Dart to it so you can throw a blinding flash upto 6 tiles away
As for new powers, there are some really powerful options in the Ruin corruption.
Fire Imbued for more elemental damage
Volcanic for some unavoidable elemental damage on the ground/area denial
Explosive for big damage as a rider to successful attacks (has to be reapplied, it's a charm, not an enchantment)
Breaching will demolish inorganic matter (adds a little bludgeoning damage, not much)
Super Heated will add some extra armor penetration
And Devastating, while having a higher CR, is a single use charm that adds a level of advantage, and if you hit, 6 automatic damage that ignores armor.
Ruin is called Ruin because it ruins everything. Buildings, people, landscapes. Very potent spells.
Anywho, up to you.

Well, after consideration I think I'll go for the ruin power.
Blinding could be very useful, but I get the feeling I'm more likely to blind most of my own team than to get any usage out of it.
Plus we're near the end of the game too, so pulling out a new power might be fun.
You certainly made them sound interesting ;~)

What's happening with the fire ring around the well?

That fire ring is volcanic! Bearrage set it off, and it'll stick around until "the end of the day" before it cools off.
As for turns, we're kind of paused, so not functioning in "turns". I was giving you guys a little bit to regroup. Lloyd has information he hasn't really passed on about sensing something inside the building. Moira's now aware of it as well.
When combat resumes (since OBVIOUSLY it's an enemy in there) we won't be re-rolling Recovery, that's why I had you keep your AT as is. If you've been spending it for movement or anything in this pause period, refund yourself.
Basically, I'm giving you guys a chance to reset any thing that needs to be reset or reapplied and decide how to approach the enemy in the building.

Oh, I missed the check!
It's a person! A corrupted person no less. You best guess is the akuma used some kind of magic to create a magical disguise, much like how they use magic to disguise themselves, but used on a human.
