A massive slowdown? On my thread?
It's more likely than you think.

Jokes aside, yeah, sorry about that. I'm moving soon, so stuff has been kind of chaotic on my end. Kind of sucks, as I was hoping to be done with these before the end of October, but oh well! Next up are some movie heroes that actually matter somewhat, LOL.

No worries! I know what a pain moving can be, so I hope it goes well for you. Take your time.

Also, I had completely forgotten about Maestro. Nice job with him!

Complications

Paper-Thin: Salaam’s body is extremely light and un-aerodynamic. Attacks with the appropriate descriptor, such as Wind, can knock him back significantly, requiring him to make a Dodge check against the effects DC to resist that.

48 Abilities, 40 Powers, 17 Advantages, 20 Skills, 17 Defenses = 142 Character Points

About: Salaam is Egypt's number 1 pro hero and seems to be extremely popular. His quirk, Papyrus, makes his body permanently paper-thin and malleable, as well as extremely durable. This gives him the appearance of an old hieroglyphic painting, and it is said that no one was ever able to see him from behind.

Salaam appears in the third movie, as the heroes stationed in Egypt stay with his agency. At the end of the movie, while Kaminari and Mineta are chasing down members of Humarise, Salaam appears, encouraging them, and using his quirk to run toward the acolytes.

Salaam is an interesting concept, kind of wish we knew more about him, with him being Egypt's number one hero and all. The movie 3 heroes kind of all suffer from this same problem, since they were all over the promotional material, but end up having barely any screentime at all. His quirk is pretty creative tho.

Salaam ended up at PL 12, as he is one of the strongest heroes in his country, but only defensively, as it doesn't really have any obvious attack applications. I struggled to come up with offensive applications for his quirk, but ended up settling for a pretty basic bump to his unarmed damage due to how malleable his body is and stuff, plus a bunch of grab advantages for that same reason. He has a really good Parry and Dodge, making him tricky to hit.

Outfits: Salaam's hero outfit is very similar to the clothes of a pharaoh, with an ancient Egyptian wraparound skirt, short robes, bracelets and a neckpiece, a long white cape and a crown covered by a striped yellow and blue nemes. He also wears eyeliner similar to the eye painting done by ancient Egyptian royalty.

Nice build for Salaam. I especially like giving him the unarmed damage bonus, that’s something I hadn’t thought of. I also wish we learned more about him, though I like the little in-universe detail about him that no one has ever seen his back.

The "Random Backgrounder Pro Heroes" are kind of interesting designs, much as they are possibly the series' best examples of "Sketchpad Characters" who exist only because an artist decided to draw them. It's interesting how many pro heroes are in fact just intermediate level guys compared to the regular classmates at the school- are the students said to be a particularly gifted class, or is it normal for pro heroes to be outstripped in power by kids like that?

Meanwhile poor Flatman from the Great Lakes Avengers is pining for a world where someone with his power (and a less effective version of his power to boot) could be the number one hero of an entire nation.

56 Abilities, 41 Powers, 15 Advantages, 19 Skills, 21 Defenses = 152 Character Points

About: Singapore's number 1 pro hero, Big Red Dot is an extremely tall and muscular man who seems to specialize in aquatic operations, based on his costume. His powerful quirk, Tidal Bore, allows him to summon enormous amounts of water from his mouth, being able to cause massive damage to others or push heavy objects.

During the first movie, Big Red Dot is aided by Majestic and his interns, Yaoyorozu and Tokage, in locating and stopping Humarise in Singapore, and, by the end of the movie, is shown fighting off against their cultists and using his quirk to get the Ideo Trigger bomb as far away from the city as possible, using the powerful force of his quirk to shoot it upwards.

Later, during the Tartarus Escapees arc, Big Red Dot is shown in the main series, angry at the world's governments for their unwillingness to allow him and other non-Japanese heroes to go aid in the fight against All For One, saying that it was unreasonable that there was so much bureaucracy involved in what he simply saw as helping a friend in need, a moment that I really enjoyed.

Big Red Dot seems like an interesting guy based on the one interaction we see with him, showing that he is someone with values and prioritizes helping others above all else. Shame he didn't get any real screentime in the movie, especially considering how heavy the promo material focused on him and the other international heroes. His name is probably a reference to Singapore's nickname of "Little red dot", but I really have no idea how that connects to him as a character aside from his nationality, considering his design, themes and powers.

This build is a pretty simple powerhouse-type, with really high Toughness and Strength, which I did due to how massive he is, but where he really shines is his powers, having powerful PL 12 blasts which make him a really powerful presence in combat. I also gave him relatively high Dodge and Parry compared to what I'd usually give a powerhouse type, mostly due to him being a top hero with a lot of experience and stuff.

For his powers, I considered doing them paired with an Instant Recovery Affliction that leaves his targets prone, since I wanted to represent the force of the water and that's how the Power Profiles book recommends doing those type of effects, but opted with a Limited Move Object instead, as that also allow him to Trip others, and has the added benefit of allowing him to actually push things away from himself. I should also probably note that I gave him quite a few Limited to Swimming Athletics ranks to reflect his status as an aquatic hero, and I considered giving him a swimsuit as a support item, but that felt weird.

Outfits: Big Red Dot's hero costume is a sleeveless wetsuit with blue scale patterns. He also wears white shoulder and forearm guards, as well as a blue belt and small black domino mask over his eyes.

When it comes to guys like Midoriya, Todoroki and Bakugo, yes, as they are consistently shown and stated to be better than most pros. Otherwise, kinda, but not really? There is an exception here and there, but most combat oriented U.A. students fall at around PL 8.

The tricky thing with the PL of pro heroes is that not all of them are combat-focused, with a lot being rescue specialists or support heroes, which is why there are quite a few students and people with not that much experience who end up being stronger than them, but tend to lack experience on the other aspects of heroism.

The "benchmarks" I've been kind of going by since I started these is that most hero students would be at PL 6-7, combat oriented ones at 8, inexperienced pros and sidekicks at 8-9, established pros at around 10 and top combat heroes at around 12. Beyond that, you get guys like Endeavor, Star and Stripe, All Might, and, god forbid, Deku as he currently is in the manga.

The FINAL Assortment of Non-Builded Pro Heroes (Mainly The Ones From The Movies)

Post by SolarOracle »

As we head toward the finish line, let me take a post to say a thing or two about the characters so minor I couldn't stat them out for a final time.

Image

Car Girl

About: Car Girl is an international pro hero who is seen in I-Island signing an autograph to a fan. She seems to have a car theme, which probably connects to her quirk or something. The idea of a pro hero with, like, Transformers powers sounds cool.

Image
Image

Amplifier

About: An unnamed international pro hero who was working as staff in I-Island, acting as the announcer for one of the events where heroes would try to get the best time taking down fake villains. Back in the day, the wiki referred to her as "Amplifier", which is a name I quite like, and suggested that her quirk could possibly be the ability to amplify the volume of her voice at will, similarly to Present Mic, as she didn't have any visible microphones despite being able to be heard from afar. Considering her wiki page was deleted tho, I'm going to assume this is another case of someone making shit up and it not being verified for years.

Image

Mr. Plastic

About: Another international pro hero, Mr. Plastic has a quirk called "Plastic Transformation", tho there is no clear information on what it could do. I kind of assume he has Plastic Man powers or something, but since it isn't clear, I didn't do a build. I should also mention that this guy appears in the third movie as well, in background shots and the like.

Image

Madame Peacock

About: An unnamed international pro hero who first appears in the first movie, who also appears in the third one. We don't really know anything about her, combat ability-wise, personality-wise, or even her name, so I've taken the liberty of naming her "Madame Peacock." Kind of wonder what country she is from. Maybe India or China, considering the importance of peafowl in those cultures?

Image

El Matador

About: Another unnamed international hero from the first movie, El Matador, as I've taken the liberty of calling him, is presumably a Spanish pro hero with a bullfighter aesthetic. This dude seems interesting, I wish we got to know him.

Image

Gun-Hand Man

About: An unnamed pro hero that shows up in the chase scene at the start of the second movie, this hero has a machine gun for a hand and uses that to try to stop the League of Villains. Didn't even bother trying to come up with a name for him because of how brief his appearance is and how uninteresting his design and concept are.

Image

Electricity Woman

About: Another one of the original heroes at the start of the second movie, this lady has some kind of electricity quirk and tries to stop the League. Again, didn't bother trying to come up with a name.

Image

Laser Eye Man

About: The final movie two original hero, this guy's quirk seems to be the ability to project some kind of energy beam from his eye, similarly to X-Less. We don't know for sure tho, since Dabi takes him down before he is able to do anything. This is maybe the most boring out of all these boring characters, LOL.

Image

Gas Mask Teacher

About: Moving on to main-series heroes I forgot about, this unnamed U.A. Teacher, always shown wearing some kind of gas mask, is shown in a few groupshots of the staff, tho who he is doesn't ever get explained. I kind of assume he is maybe a teacher in the Marketing or General Education department or something, since we don't know any of the teachers from those courses.

Image
Image

Labcoat Teacher

About: Another unnamed and unknown U.A. teacher, this guy is also shown in quite a few groupshots, tho never has any lines. Again, he could be a teacher in some of the other U.A. courses we don't know much about or something. He is always shown wearing some kind of labcoat thing, as well as some purple thing over his eyes - maybe a sleeping mask or some cool goggles or something. Due to his labcoat, I kind of took to calling him "Doctor Doctor" in my head, purely because I was at an Iron Maiden concert slightly before taking note of him, LOL.

Image

Gyges

About: One of the most powerful guards at Tartarus, Gyges is a hero with a monstrous appearance, multiple arms and immense power. He is killed by Shigaraki and Gigantomachia when they invade the prison at the end of the Paranormal Liberation Front arc.

Image

Briareos

About: Another one of the elite Tartarus guards, Briareos had ten arms and a monstrous appearance. Like his partner, he is killed by Shigaraki at the end of the Paranormal Liberation Front arc. Considering that both he and Gyges are named after hecatoncheires, I kind of wonder if all the guards at Tartarus were similarly named after primal monsters of Greek myth.

Complications

None.

30 Abilities, 15 Powers, 11 Advantages, 13 Skills, 19 Defenses = 88 Character Points

About: The most prominent of the Flaming Sidekickers, the nickname given to Endeavor's passionate and capable sidekicks, Burnin is an explosive, passionate and enthusiastic woman who seems to lead her fellow sidekicks. Her quirk, Blazing Hair, grants her a hair made of green flame, which she can control, a quirk she uses in combat by removing pieces of it with her hands and throwing them at her enemies, as her hair seems to quickly regenerate.

Burnin, along with the other Flaming Sidekickers, first appears during the Endeavor Agency arc, where they receive Midoriya, Todoroki and Bakugo to the agency, and she starts telling them about how difficult working as a sidekick for the country's number one hero is, and how they will need to work really hard to stand out and do more than just paperwork. However, due to Endeavor having received coded messages from Hawks, informing him about the emergent threat of the Paranormal Liberation Front, Endeavor takes the training of the hero students as a priority, putting them to work alongside Burnin and the others so they can get as much field technique and perfect their new techniques as much as possible.

During the events of the third movie, Burnin works alongside her boss, providing Endeavor with support through her quirk, as they raid Humarise's bases. Later, as Endeavor is stationed in Otheon, she, along with the rest of the Sidekickers and the interns, is placed at Clair Voyance's agency as well. As the climax of the movie begins and the Ideo-Trigger bombs spread throughout the world are set to detonate, Burnin assists Clair and Endeavor in fighting the Humarise cultists as they retrieve the bomb, as the sidekick is put in charge of protecting her boss while he fies the bomb as high in the sky as possible to minimize casualties, though, thankfully, Midoriya and his group manage to stop the detonation in time.

Later, Burnin appears in the Paranormal Liberation Front arc, where she takes the important role of leading and protecting the hero students who were asked to participate in the fight, charged with helping evacuate the city once the operation starts, which proceeded smoothly thanks to her leadership.

However, as Shigaraki awoke and his decay started to spread throughout the city, Burnin is forced to tell the students to retreat as fast as possible while the pros are fighting the villain. As the fight progresses, and Midoriya charges to fight Shigaraki, knowing that he is the villain's target due to his quirk, Burnin is among the other heroes, sidekicks and students to join in, fighting off the nomu Shigaraki had called in to prevent anyone from interfering with his fight, which ended disastrously, as more than half of the people involved in that fight ended up dead, as the fight ended with Shigaraki retreating and commanding his nomu to follow him.

During the Final War arc, Burnin and her fellow Flaming Sidekickers, Onima and Kido, were charged with the important role of assisting Todoroki in his final battle against Dabi, as the sidekickers use their quirks to protect Todoroki from the villain's attacks so he can focus on taking him down as quickly as possible. This seems to work, as Todoroki takes his brother down with his new super moves, and Burnin starts calling for others to apprehend the villain, but they end up surprised, as Dabi stands up again, taking Onima and Kido down as Burnin yells at Todoroki to run. Really wanna see where this fight will go!

Burnin is a fan favorite character for good reason, having a really cool and memorable design and a really memorable and positive personality, kind of like a less asshole version of Bakugo. When I originally posted her as a non-build, I mentioned that I did so because we didn't really know much about her combat capabilities, and, honestly, not a lot has changed about that, but I feel like we know as much as we ever will about it, LOL.

I decided not to include the stuff about she using her hair to deflect Dabi's flames as a power, since that feels so specific I kind of assume it would be a power stunt. Otherwise, she has pretty good flight speed and is a pretty decent blaster build, at PL 8 ranged attacks with her flames and PL 7 defenses.

Outfits: Burnin wears a grey double breasted skirt with black cuffs and a collar, a black belt around her waist with a temperature gauge in the center and a fire extinguisher on the back, black knee high socks, a pair of black boots and a tattered black mask.

Bandages: Kido's quirk being linked to his bandages heavily implies that they are constantly connected to his body. This can cause problems in day to day life, and would probably make him stand out in a crowd even while not in hero costume.

34 Abilities, 5 Powers, 10 Advantages, 10 Skills, 19 Defenses = 78 Character Points

About: Another member of the Flaming Sidekickers, Kido is a silent, rational and pragmatic man covered in bandages, always keeping his cool and going about the issues his team faces in the most practical way possible, however, despite this calm personality, he still seems to take pride and be passionate about his role as an important member of Endeavor's agency. His quirk, Traject, allows him to change the trajectory of anything that passes through his bandages, a power that makes him a great asset to his team, as he is able to improve the aim of ranged attacks by his boss and fellow sidekicks, as well as quickly adjust their flight trajectory for better maneuvering. He is also able to redirect hot air around him to lessen its impact of him, an important technique for him to have as Endeavor's sidekick.

Kido shows up sporadically throughout the manga, usually accompanied by his fellow sidekick Onima, pretty much whenever Endeavor did something important, being present in the Hero Killer arc as Endeavor fought the Nomu in Hosu and being shown helping Endeavor capture the wheels villain in the Joint Training arc. He is also obviously shown working during the Endeavor Agency arc, where he and the rest of the Flaming Sidekickers are introducing themselves and the agency to Midoriya, Bakugo and Todoroki, and he also is shown participating in the Paranormal Liberation War.

He finally takes an important role in the main series in the current story arc, the Final War arc. where he and the rest of the Sidekickers are positioned together with Todoroki to assist him in his big fight against Dabi, as he deflect the heat from Dabi's attack away from himself through his powers to be able to fight properly and uses his quirk to defend Todoroki during the fight, redirecting Dabi's attacks. However, after Dabi seems to have been defeated, Kido is caught off-guard as he stands up again and attacks the sidekicks, taking down not only Kido but also Onima. It's unclear if both survived or not.

Kido also has a pretty memorable appearance in the Vigilantes spinoff, where his quirk was first presented. During the Final Performance arc, as Endeavor is sent to stop Bee Pop's attack on Naruhata, Kido ends up playing a part in the fight, as he is shown changing Endeavor's flight trajectory with his quirk so he can better reach the villain and deal with her unpredictable movements, which was a pretty cool scene.

Kido is awesome, really love the design and his quirk is really unique and cool, making him a really useful support-focused fighter and someone who fits really well with the job of sidekick. Really hope he survived, and I kind of wish we got to see more of him and Onima hanging out with the rest of Endeavor's agency before the end of the series. I really have no real excuse not to have built him before when I was doing all sidekicks, but I guess I was lazy about it due to not having a Burnin and Onima build then, LOL.

Buildwise, I feel like the wording on the power ended up a bit confusing. The intent is that he can provide his bonus to any ranged attack that has a trajectory that is passing near him after he activated this effect on his turn (which is to say, Kido has a turn, sets up the power, Endeavor has a turn, does a ranged attack that has a trajectory where it flies by one square away from Kido or whatever, granting it the +5 and Extended Range bonuses), representing him adjusting the trajectory mid-flight so the attack becomes much harder to dodge. I feel like there was a way it could have been phrased better on the effect, but I couldn't figure out how.

His other effects are simpler, him deflecting hot or cold air with his quirk granting him half-immunity to those, and him being able to Deflect ranged attacks meant for his allies by changing their trajectory. He wouldn't be able to do so to attacks aimed against him, as the attack needs to pass through his bandages before he can change the trajectory, and it would be much harder to do that to an attack aimed squared at him or melee strikes. Other than this, Kido has good defenses but is a mediocre fighter, being better at supporting his allies with his powers, ending up at PL 8, but with an offensive PL of only 4 with his unarmed attacks.

Outfits: Kido's whole body is constantly covered in white bandages, as those are part of his quirk. On top of them, he wears a dark red flask jacket, a pair of pants, boots and a shirt.

About: Clair Voyance's unnamed sidekick (whom I'm naming "Glider Girl"), who appears a few times throughout the third movie, mostly together with her boss and during action scenes. Her quirk, which I'm calling simply "Flying Squirrel", gives her a cloak similar to the fur of a flying squirrel, and allows her to use it to glide, a power she uses very effectively for support, being able to transport Clair around with ease so she can better scan her surrounding through her X-Ray vision.

Glider Girl appears in the movie a few times, firstly in the first base raid, where she is shown gliding with Clair on her back as they enter Humarise's base. She is later shown in Clair Voyance's agency, hanging around her boss while the group is trying to locate Humarise and Flect Turn, and sort out the situation with Midoriya. Lastly, in the big final fight, when the Ideo-Trigger Bombs are activated and the heroes around the world are trying to protect the cities, she is shown fighting in Otheon, transporting Clair so she can locate the bomb quicker.

I like this character's concept, really cute design and general idea. Honestly, now that I think about it, don't think I've ever seen flying squirrel themed characters before anywhere. Wouldn't mind if she had a line or two in the movie, honestly, and got some screentime, but I said that about most movie-original characters, LOL.

This is a simple build, with PL 6 defenses but completely lacking in attack options, since her main focus is support and using her quirk to move her allies around quicker. For her gliding, I copied Jab's flying squirrel build, tho I made her somewhat quicker, and added some Lifting Strength so she can carry other people on her back while gliding without problems. For her ability scores, I took some assumptions about her personality and skills, kind of making her a baseline support sidekick and also gave her a rank in Intellect, meant to represent the training she's had under Clair, who seems to favor rational approaches to situations and all. I went back and forth between giving her enhanced senses, as she has an animal mutant quirk and stuff, but decided against it.

Outfits: Glider Girl wears a dark blue kimono, a black ninja mask and a pair of black tabis that go up to her thighs.
