The Master Power Level List

Post by SolarOracle »

So, I commented a while back on the Discord server about how cool it would have been to have had the foresight to have had one of these posted at the start of my thread, since having one of these for quick reference would be both really cool and useful. With some encouraging from Jab, I decided that it was not too late, and I could just have one of these even if at a much later page, linking to it in my thread's index, tho I still really wish I could have placed this at the top of page 2 instead. Oh well.

First of all tho, here;s a couple of stuff I had to decide on when organizing this list.

There are some characters that have very different attack and defense PLs, as is common in superhero fiction in general. In those cases, I mostly decided to take into consideration what that character's main "thing" is, and base their listed PL mostly on that, so a blaster character with a low defense would have their list PL based on their ranged attack, while a character focused on having really high defense would have their defensive PL taken into account. There are also a couple cases, mostly for non-powered characters or character whose powers don't assist them in combat, where I decided to list them as an average between that gap, usually rounded up. My main reason for these is that I want their listed PL to be what PL I'd consider them as being when assembling an encounter for a session.

I'm completely ignoring skill and Fortitude/Will PLs for this list, since otherwise I'd have inventors and scientists at PLs comparable to powerful heroes and villains, and that just doesn't seem right.

For characters whose main power and means of combat is summoning, I decided to list their Power Level as the highest between their PL and the PL of their summon. The reason for this is the same as with the "Power PL takes priority" thing: When assembling an encounter, the PL of their summon would take priority, since that is closer to the actual threat they represent in combat.

Since it's a big anime cliché, and a lot of my builds come from Hero Academia, there are a lot of characters who have "special attacks" that go above their usual PL, but that they can't use reliably. I went back and forth on this, but decided to disregard this for their listed PLs, since it would inflate them too much for something they won't always use in combat. This applies to stuff like Kaminari's Discriminate Discharge (tho I still did place his USJ Arc build at PL 8, since he otherwise doesn't have anything going for him, ironically making that version of him higher PL than the others), All Might's United States of Smash and Kamui Woods' Lacquered Chain Prison.

Lastly, also another anime cliché, there are the powers that never fail to take effect which I represent by giving them a stupidly high effect rank, to the point it can't be reasonably overcome, but that are usually powers that have difficult to achieve activation circumstances, or which the activation of won't completely nullify the threat their opponents represent. This is the case for characters like Aizawa, Shinso or Mr. Compress. Because this would deceptively inflate their PLs way too much, I decided to ignore that for this list.

I think these are all, tho I may edit this further in the future. Here comes the list!

Crude Behavior: Mitsuki has a tendency of acting crudely and in a way others can perceive as rude.

Responsibility: Family: Mitsuki has a son and husband and cares deeply for them.

6 Abilities, 1 Powers, 0 Advantages, 8 Skills, 3 Defenses = 16 Character Points

About: An energetic, direct and somewhat crude person, Bakugo Mitsuki is the wife of Masaru and the mother of Bakugo Katsuki. Her quirk, Glycerin, makes her sweat a substance similar to glycerin, which keeps her skin properly moisturized and youthful, despite she being in her late 30's.

In her youth, Mistuki met Masaru, who was working on the fashion industry, finding the fact that he worked in fashion endearing. She pursued him quite aggressively, and eventually, after a long time trying to get him to go out with her, managed to get him to agree to a date, starting their relationship, which turned out to be pretty successful, with the two eventually getting married and having a son.

Mitsuki seems to have a bit of a strange relationship with her son, with the two bickering constantly and insulting each other despite the two clearly having a lot of love for each other, contrasting with her husband's more mellow and timid personality. In the actual story, her only real appearance in the story is the same as her husband, when All Might and Eraser Head come to ask them to keep Bakugo enrolled at U.A. and to move him into the student dormitory they are building, since they want to increase student safety after Bakugo's recent kidnapping. To the teacher's surprise, Mitsuki is extremely nonchalant about the whole thing, telling them to put some good judgment in the head of her idiot son, and that the concern and confidence in Bakugo's skills and development made her confident that keeping her son at U.A. is the best possible choice for him.

So... Mitsuki is incredibly popular for a secondary character, with a lot of people really liking her design and personality. Like, it's kinda wild how many people on the internet want to bang Bakugo's mom, LOL. : P

That aside, she's a pretty funny character, especially the weird dynamic she has with her son. A thing I forgot to mention in Masaru's about section is how Bakugo's quirk is supposed to be a mixture of both of his parens', since his dad has a nitric acid quirk and his mom has a glycerin quirk, giving him a nitroglycerin quirk, which is kind of cool. His name of Katsuki is also a combination of both of their names, with the "Katsu" part of it coming from his father's name (which has that kanji in the end) and the "Tsuki" part coming from his mother's name. I kind of wish we got to see Mitsuki interacting with more people, like maybe seeing her interacting with her husband more so we can see what the relationship dynamic between them is now, or her talking with Midoriya's mom or something. Hope we get to see a bit more of her before the end of the series.

Outfits: Mitsuki is shown wearing light and comfortable clothing, like a skirt, a light blouse and a light jacket.

Nice Master PL List! It’s always interesting how things play out. All Might and All For One being sky high compared to the entire rest of the universe really puts a point on how important they are.

Help Us Company

Post by SolarOracle »

Image

A group of rescue specialists, the Help Us Company employs their knowledge of the field by acting as rescue victims in simulated rescue operations, often employed by the Hero Public Safety Commission for testing hero students in simulated scenarios, with the H.U.C. also being responsible for grading the heroes, based on their demeanor, the tactics they employ and how skillfully they perform the job.

They appear during the Provisional License Exam arc, where they are acting as the survivors of a large disaster that the heroes need to rescue and take care of, as well as protect from the simulated villain attack. During this, we see them criticizing and scolding the students taking the test whenever they do something wrong, like Bakugo's general rude behavior toward them, Midoriya not attempting to calm the victims before starting the rescue, or Uraraka starting to employ a risky rescue plan, subtracting points based on how many and how grave a slip-up each student committed.

Gotta say, even with how wacky the Hero Academia universe is sometimes, the Help Us Company really stands out with how weird a concept it is, and I kind of love them because of that. Just something about a huge group composed of a bunch of people with different body types, all making a living by getting hired by the higher ups of hero society for simulations and training operations and stuff.

Motivation: Hero Rescue Training
: The Help Us Company exists to train heroes in rescue operations, with them acting as rescue victims in their simulations for that purpose.

4 Abilities, 0 Powers, 0 Advantages, 11 Skills, 2 Defenses = 17 Character Points

About: A base build representing members of the Help Us Company. Their main thing is having a pretty good amount of ranks in Expertise (Rescue Specialist), otherwise being a fairly normal PL 0 build with PL 1 defenses. Also gave them a couple of Expertise (Survival) ranks, since they would probably know a fair bit about that as rescue specialists and all. They have a slightly-above-average Stamina, since their job seems to require some degree of constitution, and have a pretty decent Deception and Insight, representing them being good at judging and reading others, and their skill at acting.

Honestly, in a setting where training to be a hero is highly regulated, you'd expect something like this to be a thing. Heroes are going to need to train at rescuing people, and not only be good at the physical rescue but at doing things to put the people they're rescuing at ease. That's why All-Might was always smiling and his catch phrase was that everything was fine now that he was here. So you need real, living people to play the role of endangered civilians and to grade each hero on how they act. Thus the Help Us Company producing people specialized for this kind of training totally makes sense.

The only thing I could think of that would make more sense in a world of Quirks would be for these people to have individual Quirks that make them exceptional at survival. Things like high durability, phasing, shapeshifting, teleportation, regeneration and other self-preservation Quirks would almost seem mandatory for people who are going to be in danger, however simulated and at the relative mercy of inexperienced heroes. The conflict between Todoroki and Inasa Yoarashi shows how things could go horribly wrong during a hero exam and the people pretending to need rescuing could need actual rescuing, or need to rescue themselves.

It'd be cool if several Pro Heroes or retired Pro Heroes were secretly mixed in, or if their membership was made up of folks like that. Someone like Grand Turino or Recover Girl who'd look like an other old person out of combat but who are both experienced heroes who can give advice to new heroes and take care of themselves.
"My heart is as light as a child's, a feeling I'd nearly forgotten. And by helping those in need, I will be able to keep that feeling alive."

Motivation: Freelance Journalist
: Tokuda Taneo is great at his job and seems to really enjoy it. He is often going after scoops to sell to print media.

Motivation: All Might Fan: Tokuda’s father was saved by All Might when he was just a child, and he’s had a deep admiration for the Symbol of Peace ever since. Due to this, Tokuda will prioritize protecting All Might’s secrets over his job, even purposefully ignoring a scoop once so no one would know that Midoriya inherited One For All.

10 Abilities, 2 Powers, 1 Advantages, 21 Skills, 4 Defenses = 38 Character Points

About: A talented freelance journalist, Tokuda Taneo is a very laidback, composed and perceptive guy with an amazing intuition and talent for finding scoops and journalism in general. His quirk, Whole-Body Lens, allows him to manifest camera lenses anywhere he wants on his body, and lets him print pictures taken by them through a small opening on his chest, a quirk that is extremely useful for his line of work.

Tokuda is an anime-only character, appearing in a filler episode at the start of the anime's fourth season, set right in between the events of the Provisional License Exam arc and the Shie Hassaikai arc. In that episode, we learn that Tokuda, as a young child, first manifested his quirk eighteen years ago, when a huge fire happened at an industrial complex where his father was working, as All Might appeared to rescue all the people who were inside, touching the young boy and making him instinctively activate his quirk, photographing All Might as he was saving Tokuda's father, which would go on to become one of the most famous pictures of All Might in recent memory.

Years later, motivated by the success of his picture early in life, Tokuda became a famous freelance journalist and photographer, having his findings and investigative talents often be sought out by print media. He first appears at the episode entering the offices of Juzo News, a newspaper company, who want a piece about All Might after his recent retirement, telling them that, based on All Might's words after his fight against All For One, that he believes All Might is training a successor at U.A., and asks them to get him there so he can investigate and write a piece about that, being allowed to do so due to the rapport and trust he has with the editor-in-chief of Juzo.

Upon arrival at U.A. High, Tokuda spends the day photographing the students under the guise of writing a piece about the new generation of heroes being trained at U.A., but using the opportunity to reflect on each of the students' personality, quirk and connection to All Might, leading him to the conclusion that All Might's successor can only be Midoriya, just as his initial suspicions already pointed to.

When Midoriya is alone outside, the journalist approaches him, talking to Midoriya about his life story and his deep respect and admiration for All Might, and how all that lead him to his current career, bonding with the boy before revealing his findings to the boy, shocking him with how he managed to figure out so much going off just All Might's words after the Kamino fight. As Midoriya is processing this, however, Tokuda tells Midoriya not to worry, since he doesn't plan on writing a piece exposing his secret as the inheritor of One For All yet, out of respect for both All Might and the young hero student, who presumably still needs to keep this a secret. He then proceeds to use his quirk to take a selfie with Midoriya, surprising the student as he prints the picture, saying that he will use this on his future book, "When the New Symbol of Peace was Young," and that he will only publish his findings then, when the boy is ready, smiling at Midoriya as the two part their ways.

The following day, Tokuda lies to the people at Juzo News, saying that his hunch turned out to be wrong and that there wasn't anything there to be reported, disappointing everyone at the office, but then reveals to they have nothing to worry about, since he wrote a fluff piece about All Might eating meat buns at U.A. High, causing everyone at Juzo to praise him as a genius.

Tokuda is a very cool character, with a uniquely bizarre quirk, a very cool personality and an interesting code of ethics, being pretty damn popular for an anime-only character. He's always kind of reminded me of Clark Kent for some reason, with his haircut and glasses and how he works in journalism. I always kind of thought it was a bit of a wasted opportunity that he was working with some random news company, since that would have been a pretty clever opportunity for the anime to put in Shoowaysha Publishing, Curious' media publishing company, which publishes newspapers, since that would have added a greater degree of interconnection within the Hero Academia universe and added to the scope of influence of the Meta Liberation Army later down the line. Legit wouldn't mind seeing more of Tokuda later, as improbable as that is.

Outfits: Tokuda wears a stylish blazer, a black shirt and dark grey slacks, as well as a pair of social shoes.

Young Child: Eri is a small child who can easily be lifted by a person with average strength.

Trauma: Eri’s life was filled with tragedy, from her accidentally killing her father as a baby, to being abandoned by her mother and even having her body repeatedly injured by the yakuza to extract samples of her quirk factor. Due to all this, Eri developed a very reserved and withdrawn personality, and had an enormous fear of her quirk in the past, though after being rescued, she started opening up to others more and has managed to use her quirk on command on occasion.

Power Source: Horn: Eri’s quirk is linked to how big the horn on her head is in some way, with her accidentally activating it when it’s big and she being unable to use it when it’s small. The length of the horn seems to be based on how long it’s been since she last used her powers, implying that she is accumulating some sort of source for her power through her horn, though the exacts mechanics of how that works has not been explained.

Power Only Works on Living Beings: Eri's quirk has only ever been shown affecting living beings, which could mean that she is unable to rewind objects and constructs.

About: A very quiet, reserved and deeply traumatized young girl, Eri is the granddaughter of the old boss of the Shie Hassaikai, who entrusted Overhaul to take care of her, a decision he would later come to regret. Her quirk, Rewind, is able to reverse living beings back to a previous physical state, such as rewinding their wounds back in time, curing diseases or other acquired physical conditions, or more sinister things, like rewinding the bodies of others back in time, turning them into babies, fetuses or even completely rewinding them to before they existed. Due to how her powers were the source of pretty much every bad thing that has ever happened to her, Eri has suppressed her quirk to the point she can't control it, or even activate it at will most of the time.

Eri's quirk is a mutation, being completely different from the quirk of either of her parents. It first manifested on her at an extremely young age, which caused her to vanish her father from existence by uncontrollably rewinding him too much. This incident caused her mother to panic and say that Eri was a cursed child, wanting nothing more to do with her, and leaving the child at the care of her grandfather, the boss of the Shie Hassaikai.

The old man, wanting Eri to have human connection and to be able to have a good life, entrusted her to Chisaki Kai, believing their quirks to be similar. However, Overhaul, upon conducting tests on Eri's quirk, realized she wasn't simply vanishing things from existence, but rather rewinding them back in time, leading Chisaki to want to profit off of it so the yakuza would be able to regain their power and status, planning on repeatedly harvesting Eri's body so they could get samples of her quirk factor, then heal her with his quirk so the process would be able to be repeatable indefinitely, using the acquired samples of her quirk factor to develop quirk removal drugs, supplying those to criminals and heroes alike, along illegal quirk enhancing drugs, manufacturing a war between the two sides and profiteering off of it.

The Shie Hassaikai boss, however, was horrified by Chisaki's plan, saying that it was beyond inhuman to torture a young child like that, going against everything his code of honor stands for, stating that it was a mistake to entrust Eri's care to Overhaul, prompting Chisaki to use his quirk to induce a coma on the old man, so he could put his plan into action and later show him that it would all be worth it. Now able to put his plan into action, Overhaul repeatedly mutilated Eri's body innumerous times, successfully extracting her quirk factor each time to study it and manufacture quirk removing bullets, as Eri was tortured hundreds of time while the Shie Hassaikai continued to mobilize toward Overhaul's goal.

Desperate by her circumstances, Eri repeatedly tried to escape and fight back against Overhaul and the yakuza, but was recaptured each time it happened, growing more and more desperate and more accustomed to her prison, growing more and more passive, recluse, fearful and generally more somber.

At the start of the Shie Hassaikai arc, her first proper appearance in the story, Eri is seen running down an alley while being chased by Overhaul, having recently managed to escape once again due to one of Overhaul's subordinates put in charge of watching her being distracted. As she runs, she repeatedly begs for someone to save her to herself over and over again in her head, desperate to escape the torture she's having to live with. As she reaches the end of the alley, she bumps into Midoriya and Mirio, who were patrolling the area for Sir Nighteye, attempting to investigate Chisaki and the Shie Hassaikai. Midoriya notices the wounds on the girl, as Chisaki reaches the group, saying that Eri is his daughter, and apologizing on her behalf, as Eri tenses up with his presence.

Both Midoriya and Mirio notice her reaction and Chisaki's identity, but, as the pair were ordered by Nighteye to simply locate Chisaki and not raise suspicion, they cannot act immediately, as Mirio tries to quickly end the conversation with no incident so they can report on what they saw to Sir Nighteye, but Midoriya can't help but be extremely worried for Eri, and starts inquiring Overhaul about her injuries and psychological state.

As the conversation begins to get more tense, Chisaki gets the two heroes to come with him into the alley, away from the notice of the civilians on the streets the street, planning on using his quirk to kill both heroes. However, as Eri notices Overhaul's murderous intent, she immediately runs toward him, feeling like it would be her fault if blood was to be spilled, promptly resolving the situation in a way where Midoriya and Mirio won't get hurt. As Overhaul says his goodbyes, Midoriya tries to pursue him and Eri, but is stopped by Mirio, who says that going after him right now will only make the Shie Hassaikai harder to catch later, and that it's regrettable that they need to Eri go for now, but that they will also rescue her later, a decision the pair would come to deeply regret when made fully aware of her circumstances.

Back in the Shie Hassaikai base, Overhaul kills the man put in charge of watching over Eri as he enters the base with the young girl on his arms, telling his subordinates to clean that up and have someone else in charge of taking care of Eri, as he straps her back into her chair and once again starts the torturous process of harvesting her quirk factor.

Days later, as the heroes and police discover the location of the Shie Hassaikai hideout and assemble their raid group, in preparation for the upcoming battle, Chisaki takes Eri with him to the underground tunnel beneath the base, together with Chonostasis, Nemoto and Sakaki, who were taken along to act as his bodyguards, while the rest of the Shie Hassaikai holds the heroes back, attempting a clean escape. However, thanks to his Permeation quirk, Mirio quickly catches up with Chisaki's group, trying to rescue Eri, as Overhaul and Chonostasis continue to run away with the girl, leaving Nemoto and Sakaki behind to take down the hero.

However, after his fight against the two subordinates, Mirio continues to chase after Chisaki, using his quirk to attack Chonostasis and get Eri off of his hands, trying to save the girl. She, however, is too concerned about Lemillion's well-being, repeatedly telling him to leave her and escape, as Chisaki keeps telling the girl to return to him, that her existence is cursed to only cause harm to others, and saying that her disobedience will only cause harm to Mirio, using the girl's trauma and self-loathing against her in an attempt to demoralize her and Lemillion, but the hero says that he will not let her go, and that he will save the child no matter what, causing the two to start fighting.

Completely unconcerned with Eri's safety, since he can just repair her with his quirk if anything were to happen, Overhaul unleashes devastating area attacks by reshaping the ground with his quirk, forcing Mirio to permeate through the stone spikes, while getting Eri out of the way of the attacks, making him unable to fight back, as he needs to protect the girl. This continues throughout the fight, as Mirio masterfully dodges Overhaul's attacks and protects Eri, even managing to land a couple of powerful blows, causing Overhaul to lose his edge on the fight. As this develops, however, Nemoto is reawakened by Overhaul, as the young yakuza boss asks him for help.

Nemoto, noticing that Mirio is prioritizing Eri's safety above all else, realizes that the best way to harm him is to force him to take a blow while protecting the girl, taking aim at Eri with his gun, loaded with quirk erasing bullets. Nemoto's plan works perfectly, as Mirio is hit, deactivating his permeation so he would take the blow instead of the child, shocking Eri, as she is impressed by the lengths the hero will go to keep someone he barely knows safe, losing his quirk. However, despite now being quirkless, Mirio continues to fight and protect Eri, getting more and more harmed as the fight continues, but buying enough time for Midoriya, Eraser Head and Nighteye to arrive.

As Mirio passes out and the trio of heroes join the fight, Overhaul merges himself with Nemoto to empower himself, as the heroes tell Eri to run away and hide while others get there to rescue her, but as she starts to get away, Overhaul, while exchanging blows with Midoriya, uses Nemoto's quirk to shout at Eri, asking her if this is what she wanted, and demanding her to return to him, terrifying the girl, as she stops in her tracks and starts making her way back. Chisaki then continues to use Nemoto's quirk on the girl, forcing her to admit that she doesn't have confidence on the heroes' strength when compared to his in an attempt to demoralize Midoriya, and forcing her to say that the only way to stop him from killing everyone is to go back to him, as Overhaul tells her that the reason she's so cursed is because of how she's so willing to take the pains of others for herself, enraging Midoriya even more, as the hero steps forward, overcoming the pain of Overhaul's previous attacks, and proclaims that he will make sure that no one dies, and that he will save Eri no matter what.

However, suddenly, the ceiling above the group breaks, as Ryukyu falls through it with Katsukame in her hands, having just finished his battle against him. Seeing this as an escape opportunity, with Eri still in his arms, Overhaul creates a huge pillar beneath himself, trying to reach the surface together with an unconscious Katsukame, as Midoriya jumps in the air and reaches his hand toward Eri, still trying to save her. As all this is going on, the young girl notices Mirio's cape floating in the air, remembering how he used it to protect her and reaching toward it, overcome by emotion, causing her to instinctively and uncontrollably activate her quirk, separating Overhaul from Nemoto and allowing Midoriya to catch her, as they all reach the surface, prompting Overhaul to merge himself with Katsukame in preparation for the final fight against Midoriya, transforming himself into a gigantic monster-like creature, while Midoriya straps Eri to his back to keep her safe, noticing that her horn is now glowing while her quirk is active, rewinding his wounds away.

Due to Eri's quirk, Midoriya is able to fight at full strength, as Eri's quirk rewinds back the damage One For All's full power causes his body, allowing him to take down Overhaul, despite his foe's monstrous strength, finally defeating the man who caused so much harm and psychological damage to the little girl, as Chisaki uses the last of his strength to take advantage of Eri's quirk and un-merge himself from Katsukame. However, while the other pro heroes start apprehending Overhaul, Eri cannot deactivate her quirk, as it continues to take effect on Midoriya and starts harming him, thinking to herself that she needs to find a way to control it before killing the hero, but being unable to do so, being overcome by panic and sadness again, as Eraser Head arrives just in time and uses his quirk to nullify Eri's, as the young girl is overcome by relief and passes out.

Afterwards, Eri is taken to the hospital, along every other pro hero and student who was harmed in the fight. After Midoriya explains what happened to Eri, and how her quirk works, it is decided that she should be kept in isolation in the hospital for now, in case her quirk goes haywire again, under Aizawa's surveillance, since he is the only one who can hold her quirk back.

Days later, at the end of the Remedial Course arc, Eri regains her consciousness at the hospital, with her horn having shrunk as her fever lowered throughout the days, being just a small stump by the time she woke up. The hospital staff ended up deeming her currently too psychologically unstable to receive any visitors aside from Aizawa, as she was still at risk of activating her quirk by accident.

A while later, at the start of the U.A. Festival arc, Eri makes her next appearance, as she is finally able to receive other visitors at the hospital, she requests to see Midoriya and Mirio so she can talk to them. As the two heroes arrive, bringing her a basket of fruits, Eri asks Midoriya for his name, since he wasn't introduced to her before, and he tells her it's Deku. Still sorrowful over all that happened, she apologizes to the two, as she starts crying, saying that it's all her fault that the two got so hurt during the fight, and that it's also her fault that Nighteye got so heavily injured and that Lemillion lost his quirk, projecting the self-loathing she cultivated throughout the years of abuse and torture. However, wanting to cheer the girl up, Mirio interrupts her, telling her that no one thinks she's to blame, since they were all fighting to keep her safe, and that all everyone wants is to see her happy and smiling.

After hearing that, still with tears in her eyes, Eri tries to smile, but finds herself unable to do so, as she apologizes and says she's not good at smiling, being overcome by guilt and sorrow again, causing Midoriya to realize that, despite Overhaul having been defeated, the torment, guilt and self-loathing he's inflicted on Eri to keep her in check is still imprisoning her, and that she will only truly be saved when she's able to smile and have fun. With that in mind, Midoriya asks Aizawa if Eri could be allowed to come to the U.A. school festival.

Thinking it's a phenomenal idea, Mirio proceeds to hype up the school festival to Eri, saying that it will be incredibly fun, and that if she thinks she likes the apples from the fruits basket they brought, she will love the candied apples from the festival even more, as the thought causes Eri's mouth to water. Eri, touched by the effort Midoriya and everyone else are putting into cheering her up and how they rescued her, says that she wants to be friends with everyone, as Mirio says that they will be the best of friends, and that, since he's currently on leave from school after losing his quirk, that he'll be able to hang out with her during the school festival.

As the days go by, Mirio and Aizawa takes Eri to U.A., and brings her to the Class 1-A dormitory to meet Midoriya, who is currently training their festival performance with the rest of his classmates. Principal Nezu, thinking that bringing Eri straight to the school festival might be a bit too overwhelming for her, considering she's lived in isolation her whole life, decided it would be a good idea to have her visit the school a month in advance before the festival, to get used to the space and to being around people. Taking a break from training, after Eri talks to some of the Class 1-A people, Mirio invites Midoriya to help him show Eri around the school, as class 1-A takes a break from training.

After her tour of the school, where they meet with a bunch of the U.A. students, all busy with their respective trainings and preparations for the school festival, Eri says that seeing everyone working really hard on the preparations like that made her pretty excited to see how the school festival turns out, causing Midoriya and Mirio to smile at each other as they see the progress they are having with the girl. Eri then asks Midoriya what his class will be doing, as he explains they are putting on a music and dance show, and that he hopes she watches them, since he'll put in an effort to make it really fun for her.

As the day of the festival comes, after Midoriya has his encounter with Gentle Criminal, where he says that he needs to make sure the festival goes well for Eri's sake, he manages to make it back in time for the class 1-A performance, as Eri finally smiles, seeing the show start, as Midoriya steps onto the stage with the rest of the class. As the performance goes on, growing more and more impressive as it continues, causing the audience to cheer on, Eri is overtaken with joy, as we are shown the metaphorical shadow of Overhaul looming over her evaporating into smoke as she smiles, with Mirio tearing up seeing how much fun the kid is finally able to have. As thew show ends and class 1-A starts to clean up, Eri and Mirio walk up to Midoriya, with the little girl gushing about how much she liked each part of the performance, causing Midoriya to tear up with joy.

After the festival wraps up, as Eri is looking sad that the day has come to an end, Midoriya tells her he has one final surprise for her, giving her a candied apple, saying that after he noticed that no one was serving them on the festival, that he decided to make one for Eri himself, putting a wide grin on the girl's face once again as she walks away with Aizawa and Mirio, saying that he hopes she'll come visit U.A. again soon so they can see each other.

Eri's next appearance is on the following arc, at the start of the the Pro Hero arc, where Midoriya is surprised to see Eri back at U.A. immediately after the festival ended like that, as Aizawa explains that, since Eri doesn't have a home and the only relative they know of is the Shie Hassaikai boss, who's still at a coma, she'll be staying at U.A. High for the foreseeable future, since she can't really stay at the hospital forever, and that this way, Aizawa can keep monitoring her and her quirk, since Eri's quirk has started to grow a bit, and that having her be monitored at U.A. will allow them to slowly figure out how her quirk works and how she can better control it.

At the end of the Joint Training arc, Aizawa takes Monoma to see Eri, thinking that his Copy quirk could allow him to copy Eri's quirk so they can better study it, as Eri calls Monoma "The Dark Side of U.A.," with Mirio explaining that's how he referred to class 1-B during the school festival, which seems to annoy Monoma a bit, as he monologues about how he's motivated purely by justice. As Monoma tries to copy Eri's quirk, he says that, as he thought, this copy is a "blank," since he can't properly copy quirks that need the user to accumulate something to be used, and that Eri's Rewind seems to work like that as well. This makes Eri feel sad, as she apologizes for making everyone have to waste so much time an effort just to understand her quirk, and that she wishes she didn't have those powers, but Midoriya interrupts her, saying that she was able to save him with her powers, and that it's not something she should see as a curse, but as a blessing that allows her to save others, and that, if she hones it enough, she will be able to do that really well, making the girl smile, as she says she'll keep trying.

During the Endeavor Agency arc, as class 1-A is celebrating Christmas, Eri comes to visit class 1-A, dressed in a Santa Claus outfit, saying trick or treat to everyone and offering them colored eggs, confusing the holidays, which the students find cute and endearing. Midoriya notices that Eri's horn has grown more again, commenting that with Aizawa, as he says that what Midoriya said the other day cheered her up a lot, and that she's been really positive since then, which makes Deku really happy. During the class 1-A gift exchange, Eri gets Tokoyami's gift, receiving a huge prop sword, which shocks Ojiro.

During the Paranormal Liberation Front arc, Eri ends up being of extreme help to the heroes, as it's revealed that she has been practicing her quirk on the missing limbs of bugs and lizards these past two months. Mirio, hearing about the fight with the PLF and how dangerous to the heroes it will be, thinking that he really wants to be of help, asks Eri if she can try to use her quirk on him to revert his lost quirk, bowing his head and apologizing for asking something like that from her, but she says that there isn't any problem, since she decided to start training specifically because she wanted to help Mirio with his quirk, managing to revert the loss of his quirk, and allowing Mirio to fight along his friends.

Eri also makes minor appearances in the Tartarus Escapees arc and the Final War arc, where she is shown among the crowd of civilians, now staying with class 1-B in their dorm while Eraser Head recovers from the injuries he's suffered during the fight against the PLF. As Deku and the rest of the students are leaving the school to prepare for the final fight, we see Eri and Kota coming over to say goodbye to him.

So, Eri is an amazing character, with how adorable she is, how cool and versatile her powers have the potential to be, and how amazing her character arcs are, serving once again to show how Midoriya wants to save people not only through fighting and directly protecting them, but to also make sure that they can leave a good and peaceful life free of worry, going above and beyond to help Eri recover from her traumas and fears. Seeing her go from this traumatized, self-loathing and constantly depressed child to a cheerful little girl, able to smile, is extremely touching and great. Really hope we get at least a little bit more of her before the series ends.

For this build, Eri is pretty powerful, especially when compared to other elementary-school aged children like Kota or the Masegaki Elementary students, reaching PL 5 with her quirk, but having the Uncontrolled flaw on most of her powers. I decided to give her "Rewind Conditions" the Unreliable flaw instead of Uncontrolled, since she honed that aspect of her quirk enough to be able to use it on command to help Lemillion, but still seems not to have full control of her quirk, so that felt fitting. She has pretty OK Insight and Perception due to her more distant nature, and has pretty bad interaction skills overall.

Outfits: Eri is first shown wearing a plain cream dress, being barefoot and having her arms and legs covered in bandages, showing how much she had to endure at the hands of Overhaul. After she gets out of the hospital, she is shown wearing more cutesy childish clothes, like a long sleeved white dress shirt, presumably covering her scars, a red pinafore with two golden buttons, a pair of black tights and large brown boots. She also carries a red messenger bag with flower decorations on the strap.

Oh Eri. She's like some master class in how to design a character EVERYONE wants to protect. Midoriya's immediate protectiveness of her just further cemented what a good person he is, and the emotional gut punch he and Mirio felt when they realized what was happening to her hit all of us just as hard. My brother has three little girls (an 11 year old and two 10 year old twins) and ALL of them love and want to protect Eri.

She was also a wonderful reminder of why these heroes are actually heroes. Yes, they stormed Overhaul's place to stop his distribution of Quirk destroying bullets, but you know, you KNOW, that the main motivation for every hero there was to save the life of one little girl. The fight folks like Midoriya, Mirio and Nighteye put up in her name was awe inspiring.

What was also a nice touch was that they kept her around and showed us that the trauma of a bad event doesn't end just because you're out of a bad situation. The fact that this poor girl was so traumatized that she'd forgotten how to SMILE was just heartbreaking. That Midoriya was so committed to helping her recover again shows the kind of hero he is, and embodies the best aspects of actual heroes. It's like my boy Kuuga from the Kamen Rider series and his desire to protect "people's smiles". It's not enough to protect their lives, you need to protect their happiness too.

So when you see Eri smile for the first time, you're smiling right along with her.

Also, that bit where she shows up for Christmas and keeps getting the holidays wrong was just adorable.

Complications

Stubbornness: Mahoro used to think very negatively of pro heroes, seeing them as showoffs and self-righteous, with no real spirit of self sacrifice. She was so set in this worldview, she once went as far as pranking and causing trouble for hero students with her quirk. After the incident on Nabu Island, however, she started thinking more positively of heroes, though still seems to be somewhat skeptical of the heroic spirit of most pro heroes.

Responsibility: Family: Mahoro’s father works in mainland Japan and only talks to her and Katsuma through calls. Due to this, Mahoro takes her role as an elder sister very seriously and is extremely protective of her shy younger brother, always taking him along with her even when she is up to mischief.

Holograms Cast No Shadows: Mahoro’s illusions can’t have any real effect on the physical world, including being unable to cast shadows and block out light. A perceptive opponent can notice this flaw as a way of noticing her creations are not real.

-20 Abilities, 18 Powers, 0 Advantages, 3 Skills, 4 Defenses = 5 Character Points

About: A stubborn, abrasive and energetic young girl, Mahoro is the older sister of Katsuma, whom she is very protective of. Her quirk, Hologram, allows her to create holographic projections of anything she wants, with them being able to be huge in size and even somehow project noise, though they are still simply projection and can't interact with the world around them, unable to even cast shadows.

Mahoro's overprotection of her younger brother came from their mother's death when they were very young and how their father has to work overseas in mainland Japan, leaving his children alone to care for each other, something Mahoro takes very seriously.

She, along with her brother, appear in the second movie, as the U.A. students come to Nabu Island for their Hero Work Recommendation Project, with Katsuma being extremely excited for future heroes to be helping out in the island, while Mahoro, thinking that pro heroes are all just a bunch of show offs, feels irritated by their presence and the attention they are getting. Wanting to show to her brother that the students aren't a big deal, Mahoro fakes a call to the class 1-A agency, saying that Katsuma had gotten lost, pressuring her brother into going along with her prank even though he didn't want to.

Katsuma waits on top of a hill, pretending to be lost, with Mahoro hiding nearby. As Midoriya comes by, searching for the lost child, he asks Katsuma if that is him, only for Mahoro to show up before her younger brother could respond, scolding Midoriya for taking so long with the assignment, though Midoriya only answers with relief that Katsuma wasn't really lost after all, further annoying Mahoro, who storms off, taking her brother by the hand.

Later that day, as the two are eating ice cream, Mahoro is still venting at her brother about how annoyed she is at the class 1-A students, with the praise they are getting, and how long Midoriya took to locate Katsuma despite the crime rates on the island being so low. Katsuma however, only timidly replies that Midoriya was nice to him, fanning even more his admiration for pro heroes, with annoys Mahoro even more, and makes her determined to come up with another plan to expose the hero students as frauds and weaklings, so her brother will stop idolizing them so much.

The following night, with her quirk, Mahoro creates a hologram of a gigantic praying mantis monster, stomping around the old castle ruins of the islands, and has Katsuma alert class 1-A of the apparent villain attack. Midoriya and Bakugo then rush to respond to the crisis, arriving at the scene, as they are taken aback by the size and apparent power of the monster. As Bakugo fights it, however, he notices that the "monster" doesn't cast a shadow, even with the bright light of his explosions, reasoning that it must be merely illusory, sending an attack in the direction of Mahoro's hiding place, scaring her off of it and causing her to cancel her quirk, as she realizes the jig is up.

As Bakugo starts scolding and yelling at the kids, pissed about the fake attack, Midoriya restrains him and tells the kids to run, scared that he might make them cry or attack them or something, as the two siblings run away in a panic. The two end up in a field, as they lie down, tired from their mad dash, as Mahoro starts complaining about Bakugo and his reaction, saying that he seems more like a villain, but Katsuma speaks up in protest, saying that the two boys still went over to try to protect them from what they thought was a villain attack, and that that is the essence of what a hero would do, but Mahoro scoffs, and says that their father is a batter hero than any of those guys.

The following day, as Nine and his crew start attacking Nabu, noticing the attack, Mahoro calls the class 1-A hero agency, talking about the arrival of the villains, but as Bakugo is the one to pick up the phone, he just yells at the girl, not believing her. This get's Midoriya's attention, who takes the phone from BAkugo and asks Mahoro to tell him, about what happened, just as the phone lines are cut off. Desperate, Mahoro and Katsuma run back to their home, only to find Nine already there, destroying the place.

In a panic, Mahoro tries to use her quirk to intimidate the villain, but he simply ignores the hologram, walking toward the siblings, trying to steal Katsuma's quirk, as the two are saved in the last second by Midoriya, who started looking for the two after the phone call, telling them to run as he holds off the villain. Terrified, the two watch as Midoriya is beaten up by the villain, who severely wounds him with the combination attacks he can perform with his multiple quirks, causing Mahoro to start crying and panic, creating a gigantic hologram of a cartoony depiction of Midoiriya, which gets the attention of the other hero students.

Bakugo is the first to arrive at the scene, joining the fight, but there is little he can do, as he is also beaten by Nine, even with the combined might of him and Midoriya. However, all the fighting causes Nine's disease to act up, as he falls over in tremendous pain, giving an opportunity for the heroes to rescue the two kids and all retreat.

Mahoro and Katsuma, like the rest of the population of the island, are taken to an abandoned factory by the pro heroes, to serve as their fortress against the villains, as the young girl continues to be worried about her brother, and the fact that Nine wants to steal his quirk. As Katsuma uses his quirk to regenerate Midoriya and Bakugo, Mahoro worries about how tiring this must be for him, asking him to rest, but her brother refuses to until he finishes helping out the heroes.

Later, as the heroes plan their final stand against Nine and his allies, by setting up their defenses on the castle ruins, Mahoro decides to stay with her brother in the ruins, worried about him, which the U.A. students seem to allow. The battle against Nine starts, with the villain managing to rampage through the 1-A students even when separated from his team, as Mahoro and Katsuma are told to evacuate by Shoji, as he will take them through their escaped route in the island's caves, but Nine manages to catch up to them and knock out Shoji before this can be done.

The villain takes Mahoro hostage as she stands in front of her brother to try to protect him, as he tells Katsuma he will kill her if the kid doesn't surrender his quirk already, with the villain tired of playing games and in immense pain due to his disease, causing Katsuma to surrender and sprint towards the villain, yelling at him to leave his sister alone. However, before Nine can touch Katsuma, Midoriya and Bakugo arrive, saving the kids and engaging Nine in battle for a final time.

As the battle develops, Shoji wakes up and uses his body to protect the kids from the debris and blowback of the powerful attacks being exchanged. The children cheer for the heroes, seeing them as their last hope, which encourages Midoriya and Bakugo to keep fighting, even as they are repeatedly being pummeled, and inspiring Midoriya to think of the last ditch plan of giving One For All to Bakugo, which finally gives them enough power to defeat Nine, who falls onto the seas surrounding the island and disappears.

Days later, after class 1-A helped with the repairs of Nabu Island and Mahoro and Katsuma reunite with their father, the heroes prepare to leave the island. As they are on the boat, Mahoro and Katsuma come by the port, yelling their goodbyes at Midoriya and Bakugo, thanking them for everything, which causes Midoriya to smile and yell at Katsuma that he can be a hero, which causes the boy to tear up.

Mahoro is a very fun character, with how much of a nuisance she is to the heroes for very little reason, and how self assured and obstinate she is, with her disruptive schemes at the start of the movie being really great scene. I think she was kind of underutilized in the later half of the movie though, as she just kind of tags along with Katsuma while he gets most of the spotlight, not really doing anything, which is kind of a shame. I kind of wonder what kind of future she will have, since Katsuma was inspired to be a pro hero and all.

Outfits: Mahoro is shown wearing a pink dress with red overall straps, white sandals with pink flower accessories, a bracelet with a pink flower and a very large sun hat with a pink strap and bow. Pretty cute getup.

About: The younger sibling in the Shimano family and an immense hero fanboy, Katsuma is a reserved, soft-spoken and kind boy who lives in Nabu Island with his sister Mahoro. His quirk, Cell Activation, allows him to activate the cells of the body of those he touches, including himself, which allows him to slowly regenerate their wounds and improve their physical condition.

Since their father works on mainland Japan, and how their mother died at a very young age, Katsuma and Mahoro had to take care of each other, with the older sister growing very protective of Katsuma due to this. At the start of the movie, due to his passion for heroes, Katsuma is very excited to see the U.A. students coming to Nabu for their Hero Work Recommendation Project, while his sister is annoyed at the attention they are getting and the admiration her brother has for them, as she starts planning a scheme to show Katsuma that the students are just pushovers not worthy of his respect, a plan which, despite his objections, Katsuma ends up roped into anyways due to how pushy Mahoro is.

Katsuma then pretends to be lost, waiting atop a hill, while his sister calls the agency to say that her brother has disappeared. Eventually, Midoriya appears, asking Katsuma if he is the missing boy, only for MAhoro to appear, revealing that she was timing the hero students, and pointing out how long he took to do something so simple, which embarrasses Midorioya, but he says that he is glad Katsuma wasn't really missing, causing Mahoro to storm off with her brother, with the young boy feeling bad about having helped with this prank considering how nice Midoriya had been to him.

Still determined to reveal the inability of class 1-A, Mahoro pushes Katsuma into helping her with another scheme, which he reluctantly ends up agreeing to. Katsuma went to class 1-A agency base, finding Midoriya and Bakugo outside, as he exclaimed that there was a villain attack in the old castle ruins of the island, forcing the two hero students to immediately leap into action and go there, finding Mahoro's illusion of a gigantic mantis-like monster, which makes Midoriya scared. Bakugo, however, isn't intimidated and immediately attacks the monster, noticing that it doesn't cast shadows and realizing it is a Hologram, forcing Mahoro out of her hiding place as the monster disappears, prompting Bakugo to scream at both children, scolding them for their prank, as the two siblings run away.

The following day, still feeling bad about pranking the heroes, Katsuma returns to the 1-A agency, running into Midoriya and apologizing to him about everything. Midoriya notices the Edgeshot pin on Katsuma's bag, and the two start bonding over their passion for heroes. Midoriya asks Katsuma if he wants to be a hero when he grows up, and the boy tells him that it's his dream, but that he doesn't think he can, since he considers his quirk weak and not very good for fighting, and that his sister hates heroes and doesn't want him to become one. Midoriya then says that having a quirk he considers unsuited for fighting doesn't mean he couldn't become a great hero if he applies himself and trains, and that Mahoro's hatred of heroes is actually just concern for her brother, which cheers Katsuma up, as he thanks Midoriya and goes back to meet up with his sister.

However, as the two siblings reunite, Nine starts his siege of Nabu Island, as Mahoro calls the heroes for help, only being able to exchange a few words before the villains cut the phone lines, as the the pair sprints back to their home for safety. Upon arrival, to their great shock, they see their house being destroyed, as Nine himself has come there, trying to locate Katsuma so he can steal his quirk. Mahoro tries to protect her brother as Nine starts walking towards the pair, but the powerful villain already knows about her quirk, easily ignoring her hologram as he tries to grab Katsuma, with Midoriya arriving just in time to protect the two.

Midoriya tries to hold back the villain, but he proves too powerful, repeatedly beating Midoriya and attacking with his refined control of his multiple quirks, as Katsuma and his sister watch in horror. Even as Bakugo arrives to help, Nine easily takes the pair out with a powerful bolt of lightning, which incapacitates both hero students, but luckily, after such a powerful attack, Nine is affected by his disease, falling to the ground in great pain, giving the other 1-A students and opportunity to rescue their allies, retreating with the Shimano siblings and the knocked out hero students to an abandoned factory that they are using as a hideout while the villains are still threatening the island.

As the heroes are helping the civilians in the bunker and offering medical attention to Midoriya and Bakugo, noting that they will need to go to a mainland hospital before they can make a full recovery, Katsuma enters the room, exclaiming that he can help with his quirk, feeling indebted and guilty about how far the pair of heroes had gone to protect him, as he uses his Cell Activation on them. He spends hours using his powers on them, becoming exhausted from overusing his quirk, with Mahoro asking him to take a break, but Katsuma insists that this is the least he can do for the heroes. This determination pays off, as Bakugo and Midoriya start to wake up.

As the rest of class 1-A gathers to plan their strategy, Katsuma once again unexpectedly joins them, saying that Nine only wants his quirk, and that he will probably leave the island alone if he manages to get it, so that the best solution to minimize harm is for him to simply let the villain steal his quirk, a sacrifice he is more than willing to make, but Midoriya objects, entering the room after his recovery. He explains that Nine getting Katsuma's quirk is not something that they can allow, since it would allow him to power himself up even further, making him a much greater threat to hero society as a whole, also telling Katsuma that his quirk is wonderful and it shouldn't be something he is willing to give up, which inspires the boy.

The students then start their plan, making a final stand against the villains at the old castle ruins, bringing Katsuma and Mahoro along as bait for them, setting up traps and defenses to weaken and separate the group, as only Nine remained marching toward the younger Shimano. Despite the best effort of the heroes, Nine makes his way through their defenses, taking them out one by one with his immense power, slowly making his way toward Katsuma.

Shoji, one of the students charged with keeping the children safe, tries to get them on an escape route, but it is too late, as Nine takes him out. The children attempt to run, but the powerful villain takes Mahoro hostage, forcing Katsuma to charge toward the villain, yelling at him to leave his sister alone, as Nine prepares to steal the young boy's quirk, only to be interrupted by the arrival of Midoriya and Bakugo, who rescue the Shimanos, and start their final battle with the villain.

As that battle rages on, Shoji manages to awaken again, protecting the children as the fight continues. Seeing the heroes battle with their all to protect them again, Katsuma and Mahoro yell in encouragement of them, telling the two heroes not to give up, inspiring Midoriya to give One For All to Bakugo, so they could finally overpower Nine and win once and for all.

After the battle, Katsuma and his sister reunite with their father as the heroes help with cleaning up the island. When the time comes for class 1-A to leave, Katsuma and Mahoro wait at the harbor waving at them, as Midoriya smiles and yell to Katsuma that he should continue to strive to be a hero, and to become strong and come study at U.A., as Katsuma tears up with the student's faith on him, and promises to do his best.

Katsuma is pretty cool, all things considered, if a bit bland. I like his quirk, and how it touches on the recurring theme of a power he considers useless being the keypiece to win against Nine, as it allowed Bakugo and Midoriya to heal from near-fatal wounds and all. His sense of self-sacrifice and heroism is also pretty cool, overcoming his shyness and fears in moments of crisis, like him sprinting against an immensely powerful villain when his sister was in danger, or his willingness to sacrifice his quirk to Nine without a fight if it meant no one else getting hurt, which is pretty cool, also touching on the whole "acting to protect others without giving it much thought is the very essence of heroism" thing, creating a parallel between Katsuma and Midoriya before he had his quirk, and serving to show that the young Shimano really does have the makings of an amazing hero.

Katsuma is also really popular with the fanbase, probably for all the reasons I mentioned above, with there somehow being more fanart of him as a student at U.A. on his teen years then there is of Eri or Kota, which really is saying something. Kind of a shame we won't get to see more of him.

Only real build not here is that I gave him fairly high Fortitude due to his quirk being tiresome to use for a long time and all, and him bearing through it. He ended up with slightly higher Will than his sister due to how much courage he was able to show in moments of crisis, and his willingness to sacrifice himself for others. For his quirk, I made it so he can regen others as a standard action, but it still remains a free one if he is using on himself, since I assume the latter would be less tiring and all. Otherwise, this is a pretty standard child build.

Outfits: Katsuma is shown wearing a pair of blue presumably denim overalls with black straps. Underneath them, he wears a white t-shirt. He has a floral bracelet on his right pulse, a pair of blue sandals and a yellow messenger bag with an Edgeshot pin on the strap. He also wears a very large sun hat similar to his sister's, with his having a blue strap instead of a pink one.

Good to see Katsuma and Mahoro! I’m glad you included them. I’m not surprised that Katsuma is so popular, here’s hoping we get to see him at least once more. Keep up the good work! I’m hoping to see some, uh…red, white, blue, and muscle soon, if you know what I’m sayin’, haha
