Weakness (Small Size)- At their natural size, these fish are vulnerable to large creatures- even without good accuracy. Anything of Size Rank -2 or more (human size and up) using a melee attack on these fish effectively strike with Burst Area Damage at their strength rank naturally.

Era: Modern Day

Encounter Groups: Hordes of two to thousands.
Diet: Tiny plankton.
Tactics: Flee at all costs. "School" together for defense.

-The incredible Archerfish are named for being one of the only creatures in the animal kingdom with a RANGED ATTACK. Adult Archerfish almost never miss with a distinctive blast- spitting water up to ten feet away to strike insects and other small animals off of tree branches, sending them tumbling into the water where the predator awaits. I stat this up as a "Move Object" effect, with such a low level it could only affect tiny creatures.

Archer fish have always been cool to me because they dont miss or rarely do such an interesting evolutionary advancement

for their attack would not an affliction be more appropriate since it does stun the prey it hits maybe with a limit that it cant affect anything some orders larger then it?

The issue is even a human can just throw water at something and "afflict" it like that so I don't like attaching more powers to it. Effectively all it does is drop stuff into the water.

Yeah the only reason it does anything is because a blob of water is a significant mass when compared to the bugs it hits.

-Icefish are the only known vertebrates to lack hemoglobin in their blood as adults. This renders their blood colorless. They are found in Antarctic waters, making them quite remote. Most are very tiny. Snailfish look like slimy versions of Rattails, and live in cold waters, retaining the same stats.

-Most of these are from the same group- freshwater Bass. These include the Red Snapper, Walleye and the Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass, all incredibly common North American freshwater fish. There's also the oceanic Marbled Grouper. Most of these are high-end predators in their range, eating anything smaller than themselves (up to half their body weight!).

-These perch-like fish are fairly large, though about half the size of most people. Their size makes them successful predators, able to take nearly any animal smaller than themselves. This group contains the Snooks, Zander (an important European food fish), Striped Bass, and Sea Wolves.

The Antarctic Toothfish was initially caught as bycatch, but the large, oily fish soon became popular. These fish end up at PL 2.5- not great, but substantially more powerful than anything smaller.

-These include some of the largest bony fish in the world- the Giant Grouper is an astounding 880 lbs. at maximum. The Giant Sea Bass is known for its extended lifespan (up to 75 years!) and enormous size- weighing up to 800 lbs. They are opportunistic predators that hang about reefs, where they are top predators, eating smaller fish, small sharks, turtles and anything else they can fit into their mouths, swallowing them whole.

-Overall, I went with PL 4 for these- more accurate than they are strong, but tougher than they are defensive. They're just big, strong, tank-y fish.

-The Priacanthiformes are another "generic" fish species, made up of two families- the red, squat Bigeyes & the elongated, slimy-looking Bandfish. Though they look completely different, both are related in what is now considered a single order (they were once thought to be Perch-like).

-Scorpaeniformes are an order of carnivorous fish with over 1,320 different species, making them one of the five largest orders of fish. They don't vary much in size- going from an inch long to a meter. The most famous members are the Blobfish & Scorpionfish.

-The famous "Blobfish", known for the photos of dead ones that appear to be droopy, frowning creatures, are actualy ambush predators from the depths of the sea floor. They droop so much out of water because they are designed for incredible pressures, and have a gelatinous layer beneath the first layer of their skin. These adaptations are of course poorly-made for being brought to the surface, but are suitable for their lifestyle. A handful of "Blob Sculpins" are around, most quite small.

Size: Up to 12 inches long (less than a pound)

Diet: Tiny fish.
Tactics: Sit and await prey; stab aggressors with venomous spines.

-Scorpionfish are famously dangerous- their spines, common to most Perciformes, actually contain a lethal, venomous mucous that can kill even adult humans. Despite their fearsome reputation, these fish are extremely tiny and vulnerable- human deaths from contact are typically accidental, and from stepping on them. The have names like Scorpionfish, Stonefish, Goblinfish, Pigfish and Waspfish- all very unappealing names. The Mangrove Stonefish can kill a man within 1-2 hours of contact.

-Scorpionfish venom is infamously dangerous, but the Stonefish may have the worst- the excruciating pain it inflicts almost instantly has been described as "worse than childbirth". This is not used for predation, but is a defense measure to prevent the creatures from being stepped on or eaten- most human envenomations are from accidental steps.

Total: Abilities: -32 / Skills: 16--8 / Advantages: 5 / Powers: 43 / Defenses: 7 (31)

Era: Modern Day
Range: Indo-Pacific Oceans.
Stereotypes: Aggressive venom-dealers.
Colouring: Any possible color, in any possible design. Tend towards wild colors.
Size: Up to 15 inches long (less than a pound)
Encounter Groups: Solitary.
Diet: Small molluscs, invertebrates.
Tactics: Blow jets of water to disorient prey, then eat headfirst.

-Like the Scorpionfish, the spectacular-looking Lionfish are quite venomous. However, these ones aren't hidden predators, but ostentacious, brightly-striped ones with tons of spines. These hunters eat molluscs and invertebrates, and aren't preyed on by much themselves, though Morays & Sharks can eat them- Sharks seem immune to their venom. The venom is quite paralytic, though typically has minor symptoms in humans, such as diarrhea and intense pain (versus the rarer, more extreme ones of paralysis and heart failure, leading to death). They have a unique hunting method that entails blowing jets of water at potential prey- this both confuses them and spins them to be facing the Lionfish, who can then swallow them whole. They are one of the most notorious invasive fish species on the planet, as the aggressive predators have been dumped in locations around the world, where they nearly always form powerful populations.

-Lionfish aren't as deadly as Scorpionfish, but are still quite nasty, and more aggressive, accurate predators.
