Yeah I've seen hooked before but not in clusters like that. You expect to see a constant row.

Carpet Sharks

CARPET SHARKS:
-And odd group, the Orectolobiformes have an extremely varied set of animals within it, connected primarily by mottled skin patterns and little else. The dissimilar Carpet Sharks, Zebra Sharks, Wobbegong, Nurse Sharks and the titanic Whale Shark are all in the same group!

Disabled (Aquatic)- Fish typically will not last long on land- they are borderline immobile, can't defend themselves, and will slowly dehydrate or suffocate.
Weakness (Small Size)- At their natural size, these fish are vulnerable to large creatures- even without good accuracy. Anything of Size Rank -2 or more (human size and up) using a melee attack on these fish effectively strike with Burst Area Damage at their strength rank naturally.

Era: Modern Day
Range: All waters of the Earth.

Colouring: Grey, brown.
Size: 1-3 feet long (2-8 lbs.)
Encounter Groups: Small groups.
Diet: Small fish (herring, mackerel).
Tactics: Attack in groups or flee.

-The "Blind Sharks" are not at all blind, but named for the fact that when they were first captured, their eyes were closed. The Bluegray Carpetshark, of the Carpet Shark order, is only 30 inches long. The Network & Floral Banded Wobbegongs are only 20-30 inches long and would fit here as well, as would a few of the Epaulette Sharks, who are usually under 80 inches long. They adapt well to captivity, being small and naturally-adapted to tight spaces. They hail from Australia. The Short-Tailed Nurse Shark is also less than 3 feet long, and would fit here.

Encounter Groups: Solitary or small groups of young

Tactics: Rapid attacks from above or below.

-Wobbegongs are notable for their amazing multicolored camouflage and extremely-advanced stealth capabilities- they lie on the seabed, awaiting prey that passes by. Then they lash out at top speed, tearing into anything small enough to fit into their mouths... or a person who accidentally steps on them. Wobbegongs have bitten at least 50 people worldwide, but none fatally- they are flexible enough to easily bite someone who grabs their tail, and are noted for tenaciously holding on, requiring the jaws to be pried apart.

-Larger Wobbegongs include the 6-foot Tasseled Wobbegong, notable for its incredible array of fringed "dermal flaps" around its head to aid in camouflage. Others include the Banded & Spotted Wobbegongs. Their distinctive name comes from an Australian Aborigine term- almost all known species hail from Australia, descended from the Tasseled Wobbegong.

-Wobbegongs are not terribly dangerous, but can cause horrible wounds- a Spotted Wobbegong has apparently bitten off a fisherman's foot in Australia.

-Zebra Sharks are actually spotted, not striped, but still ende dup with that name, I dunno. They lay eggs, which they attach to various structures via adhesive tendrils. Hardy in captivity, they are popular aquarium sharks. Like other Carpet Sharks, they hang about on the ocean floor, but don't simply rest there- they are fast swimmers and good hunters.

Total: Abilities: 6 / Skills: 36--18 / Advantages: 4 / Powers: 22 / Defenses: 12 (62)

Era: Modern
Range: Eastern hemisphere coastlines.
Colouring: Light grey with dark spots.
Size: 8-14 feet long (100-600 lbs.)
Encounter Groups: Solitary (rest in groups of 10-40)
Diet: Shellfish, crustcaeans small fish.
Tactics: Lie in wait or ferret out prey, using suction via opening their mouths underwater. Big defensive bites.

-Nurse Sharks are fairly well-known, and may derive their name from "nusse"- a name that also went to the Catsharks. They are distinctive bottom-dwellers, with jaws projecting far forward from the eyes and sitting at the tip of the snout. Some are quite large, averaging from 10-14 feet long. Nurse Sharks rest by day in groups of up to 40 individuals, but disperse to hunt alone, typically taking crustaceans, shellfish and smaller fish (they have some of the most powerful suction ratings of any vertebrate, literally inhaling prey just by opening their mouths). There are five species in the group, though one is so much more notable that it's just called the "Nurse Shark"- it's naturally the biggest of the group, and one of the most common sources of shark bites: it's #4 in the list on attacks on humans.

-Nurse Sharks show the greatest "site fedelity" of sharks (which usually travel about a lot), returning to the same sleeping and mating locations time and again. The Tawny Nurse Shark is slightly smaller, as is the Pacific Nurse Shark.

-Nurse Sharks still hunt prey far below themselves on the food chain, and so don't fit huge power levels- they're merely a solid PL 5 set, well-balanced and still dangerous to humans. A Nurse Shark is about as heavy as a tiger, for example, but have small mouths ideal for capturing smaller prey, not taking giant chunks out of Sea Lions or surfers. In areas where their habitats overlap, Nurse Sharks are actually preyed on by American Alligators & Crocodiles, both of which are stronger and heftier.

-The Whale Shark is the largest fish in the entire world- a titanic, slow-moving creature that sucks in plankton and krill instead of awesome things like seals & surfers. These giants are actually part of the Carpet Shark order, not sharing a group with the very similar Basking Shark & Megamouth Shark. Their white spots and counter-shaded bodies are indicators of this, though the fact that an animal THIS BIG has counter-shading still could be indication of a truly gigantic predator in their past.

-Whale Sharks were actually discovered in 1828, as they don't go near coastlines and rarely head directly to the surface. They have 300 rows of tiny teeth and some big filter pads to trap tiny plankton and smaller fish in their huge gullets. Unusually, they have dermal denticles on their EYEBALLS, as well as having the ability to retract the eye deep into its socket- believed to be adaptations to keep their eyes from harm. Living so far from humans, studying them has proven difficult, as sizes vary greatly across their distribution and length is hard to measure in a living animal, especially in the water- males are 26-30 feet on average, and females in all sharks are larger- the maximum length found is almost definitely not as big as they can get, as females could easily hit 48 feet long, but some scientists think they can get to be over SEVENTY!

-It's a major status symbol for an aquarium to pack one of THESE forty-foot monsters. Though I've had the privilege of seeing them live at Kaiyukan Aquarium in Osaka, noting a pair of juveniles at a mere 13-ish feet each. I did note in their "Trip Advisor" page nearly every tourist reports a different amount of them, one saying "Their whale shark was incredible!" and another noting "Wow, they had THREE whale sharks!" and another saying "Well it said there were whale sharks but they didn't have any when I was there...". Pretty quickly, I came to the realization that their sharks are DYING FREQUENTLY, and being replaced with freshly-caught specimens occasionally. The animals are likely extremely difficult to keep in captivity (which you might expect for giant filter-feeders).

-A great mystery of an animal, the Megamouth Shark remains one of the last giant creatures science has discovered- despite weighing a few thousand pounds, nobody had ever described one of these things until one turned up in *1976* (when it was caught in a U.S. naval ship's anchor), making it one of the greatest Zoological stories of the century! Sharing word-of-mouth duties with the thought-extinct Coelocanth, the Megamouth is another plankton-feeder like the Basking & Whale Sharks, but is a bit smaller. Less than 100 have ever been observed- a crazy number for something so huge. Animals are typically found in bycatch and are generally dissected, though a few have been eaten or sold. It's actually quite strange that we went from ZERO sightings to 100 in just the past 45 years, to the point where fishermen are finding them.

-As a plankton-eater, the Megamouth isn't very tough- it retains the size of a Great White, but none of its fearsome power. It's only PL 5 because of its great size and Toughness- it's a little easy to hit.

-Basking Sharks are the second-largest Sharks in the world, and also drift along, casually eating plankton and small animals. They are probably best-known for being mistaken for either Great White Sharks (they have a similar silhouette, and are reasonably-close in size) or Sea Serpents, as their decayed corpses will lose most cohesion quickly, resulting in a Shark's head left attached to a fleshy, stringy neck, as the rest of the body fades away. This looks strikingly like the corpse of a Plesiosaur. Basking Sharks cover much of the world's oceans, and can dive up to 3,000 feet- they will travel south for winter, and migrate to chase the richest zooplankton stores. They are Endangered, having been over-exploited for liver oil and their fins.

-A Basking Shark is basically a heavier, tougher Megamouth, PL 6 by virtue of its huge size, though they are no threat to anything other than tiny fish and zooplankton.
