City of Heroes

Has anyone else been following this?

Short version is some fans have got a fully functional server running with up to 4000 people playing concurrently. I'm going to try getting it running tonight.

Yeah I've been following it since news broke about the private server last month.

There are currently 5 Homecoming servers that can host up to 2000 players each playing actively, and most are usually filled up.
Then there's the Coxg, the Redit, the Virtue, and I know I'm forgetting one but they are all up and running and can host about 1500 each.

The homecoming team just became an LLC on their way to becoming a non-profit and are able to take donations for the servers. This months bill came to $7000+, They reached it in 20 minutes.

As with anything else that deals with people and the internet, there is drama. I am trying like hell to stay out of everything and not pick sides and just play my game.

More info can be found at the Homecoming forums:
https://score.savecoh.com/

The installers for the game can be found at:
PC - http://patch.savecoh.com/tequila.exe
Mac - http://ir.powermad.net/islandrum-mac.zip

You will need to make a forum account on the Save CoH forum (https://score.savecoh.com/) and then a game account (located at https://score.savecoh.com/account

The full guide on how to install the game can be found here:

Incredibly, they closed down the donation link once their initial goal was met. Possibly because they need to stay non-profit.

I've been playing on Excelsior and got each of my kids an account as well. Getting registered was easy and their instructions are quite clear.

Go ahead and add my global as well, I'm @Sentai Shadow on the Homecoming servers.
I'll admit I've been in-game far more than many people would find "healthy". They can STFU and MYOB. LOL

I'm loving the return of it. There are more servers coming out soon, I believe.

Excel is good. I believe that Positive Gamer YouTube guy makes his home there and runs an SG.

From what I hear, unless you're into it, I'd stay away from the 4chan server. Just have not heard... ANYTHING... good about that community. Very Toxic.

I got to play with my 2 kids in a group last night. Let's just say tanking for a pair of 10 year old blasters is quite challenging
