So much went into it that its nigh impossible to list it all. Namor was Spectacular to watch in action and so was his kingdom

the death of Chadwick Boseman was played respectfully and really played into the story well.

all told it was well done and i highly recommend it to all

I loved that they did not go for the usual " Atlantis" backdrop for Namor. Also, once again, a " villain" with wholly understandable motives. Was really worth my time and money and I am getting the Blu-Ray once it comes out. The effects were, once again, fantastic.

What I will never get used to, however, is the translation of " Wakanda Forever" (not the film title, that was unchanged), the warcry of the Wakandans.
Here in Germany, they translated it to " Wakanda über alles!" (Wakanda above all) instead of the literal " Wakanda für immer/Wakanda auf ewig!"
" Deutschland, Deutschland über alles" (Germany above all) is the original first line of our national hymn which was truncated for obvious reasons when reason returned to our country. The first stanza of our anthem is only sung by right-wing extremists and outright neo-Nazis.
What the eff, guys? I cringe every time I hear them yell " Wakanda über alles!"

Criiiiiipes. That's way past tone deaf.

Okay movie, but way too long and trying to do too much. The twist on the Submariner story was clever and unexpected. I'm relieved that hints about Doom showing up here turn out to have been hot air. I'd give it a flat B, compared to the first one's A+.

I've not seen it but a majority of the comments I've read/seen have said that the first part of the movie where the character's are mourning T'Challa's death is great but almost everything following (story, script, characterisation etc.) is disappointing and that the movie is at least an hour too long. No, actually not everything, they pretty much all praise Angela Bassett.

just my own two cents but i thought it was well worth the three hours and the pacing was very good so it doesnt even feel like 3 hours worth.

Angela Basett was truly an Oscar worthy performance

And as to the rest all i can say is it was highly enjoyable they brought the stories together into a cohesive whole and it all comes together nicely,

Interesting. I had the exact opposite reaction, that Shuri's subtly unhappy reaction to learning that Toussaint's life has been pretty much all planned out suggests that her character arc isn't done.

Oh, there’s definitely going to be a third Black Panther movie. The ending was clearly laying groundwork for a sequel with Shuri in the suit from the start… and financially, both movies were box office gold: Black Panther did $700,426,566 domestically, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has made $453,626,325… Not quite as good, but still solid.

Personally, I found it to be a great movie. It avoided the typical “third act problem” that a lot of superhero movies have (and Black Panther was hit hard by) and it was evident in every frame of the film’s first two acts that the entire cast and crew genuinely cared for and missed Chadwick Boseman. Angela Basset probably will not win the Best Supporting Actress Oscar, but holy hell does she deliver a performance worthy of it. (My personal vote would be Stephanie Hsu or Angela Basset. But the Academy hates sci-fi almost as strongly as it loves period pieces and poverty porn. So the smart money is on Kerry Condon.)

I’m going to give Wakanda Forever an “A-” grade, it was damn near perfect. I feel the pacing was a bit off during the whole recruiting Ruri sequence and there was a bit too much time spent on the “look at our pretty CGI!” sequences in Atlantis, but other than that I don’t really have anything negative to say about the movie. Looking over my notes, I only have the first Black Panther down as a C+… Almost entirely due to how weak the third act of that film was.

It was a fine movie, not one of my favorites among Marvel movies but I enjoyed it. Acting was really good: actors of Namor, Shuri, Queen and Okoye portrayed their characters very well. The background of Talokans was awesome; I really liked the Mesoamerican Atlanteans. Namor's action sequences were well done. What I didn't like was the few plotholes.

Namor was negotiating about killing the "scientist" (not engineer) girl with Shuri. He could have just kill her and send the princess peacefully while both were in custody. Talokan vs Wakanda war seemed quite unnecessary and fruitless. Also Namor using the term "hateful language" was weird and broke the immersion for me for a moment. Apart from Namor genociding entire worlds with Thanos of all people in comics, it felt like a something an American would say rather than a centuries old hardened warrior who is very eager to go to war.

I think that Namor pushing for a war between Talokan and Wakanda was suppossed to feel unnecessary. For all his claims about oppression and victimization, Namor and the Talokanians(?) were still clearly carrying on with their Meso-American cultural roots as a warrior aristocracy of imperial conquerors.

Namor felt Talokan was insulted that the Wakandans rejected his offer of alliance and personally slightly by Shuri and Queen Romanda’s attack on his person.

Honor demanded that these slights against the sovereign and the kingdom be answered with war.

A pointless, stupid, and counterproductive war.

I’m hardly going to pretend to be an expert… Just the opinion of one rando on the internet.

But the MCU Namor and the Earth-616 Namor both use the same battle cry of “Imperius Rex!” They’re both absolute monarchs of massive militaristic kingdoms, both seem to see single combat as the ideal form of battle, and so on and so forth.

Neither Namor seems like the kind of guy for whom turning the other cheek and a strongly worded letter of condemnation is going to be anywhere on the list of options for how to handle an international crisis.

Yes, while the MCU Namor clearly has a sense of honor (keeps his word, is respectful of those he considers equals or allies, admires worthy opponents), he's rather clearly a villain; he's ruthless, will kill anyone he considers even potential threats to Talokan, and won't abide anyone defying his orders. He might be termed "faux affably evil", to use the TV Tropes term. Sadly, this is mostly how the MU has treated comic book Sub-Mariner for the last twenty-plus years, losing the character's nuance.

Honestly? Not trying to brag, but I think I could fix Namor in the span of twelve issues, not that I'll ever get the chance. I elucidated on this once, about how I'd start off a series with Namor Mckenzie (yeah, I'd explore that part of him, too) getting deposed when the Atlanteans decide they want to become a modern-day constitutional democracy, doing away with the throne. And at one point, I'd have someone point out to him that "Imperious Rex" just means "Arrogant King!", with the Sub-Mariner realizing his old girlfriend Dorma was just pranking him when he was a teenager when she told him it was "Mightiest Champion"...but he can't break the habit of yelling it in combat.
