Mighty Davidson, may I please ask if you would be interested in discussing some notions for the SUPER POWERED LEGENDS-verse that I’ve been toying with? (I’d very much like to share them with another fan of the setting for the sake of having a second opinion).

Thank you for this position, I shall very happily do so as time allows - would you object to my doing so via PM, as this is a digression not entirely pertinent to your thread?

It was law enforcement's, particularly AEGIS and the Foundation of World Harmony, nightmare. After the breaking apart of the criminal organization known as the Chamber one of it's subsidiary's went solo taking some of the Chamber's best criminal minds with it. At roughly the same time in Europe S.P.I.R.E.'s mad science convention was crashed by Dr. Necros and Dr. Diablo resulting in an inevitable conflict between the two villains which in turn caused Europe's superheroes to intervene, leading to many arrests. The majority of the organization's best minds managed to escape however and, having collaborated with Ghostworks before, decided to combine their resources with those of Ghostworks forming a whole that was exponentially worse then it's constituent parts.

Across the United States the new Ghostworks would set up various black sites using front companies, where they would conduct experiments of various types. The worst of these were the ones located in remote places since those were the ones that engaged in human experimentation. One such site was located deep in an old growth forest disguised as a lumber company. Psychic kids would be stolen from their parents, who were then murdered, in order to be experimented on. The goal was usually the granting or expansion of psychic powers, with an eye toward improving the power of Ghostwork's Psi branch prior to their inevitable conflict with The Foundry. The ones with the strongest powers were groomed as future agents of the organization and treated relatively well, those who didn't go along with the program, were considered expendable or if one of the staff just didn't like you it was a man made Hell. Eventually these state of affairs would backfire on them and superheroes investigating the kidnappings would arrive to see the facility go up in flames with everybody within it slain.

Some children in the facility worked together to combine their powers, to provide each other emotional support. Due to prior planning and a heaping helping of good fortune, namely an experiment that gave them the power to teleport, they were able to get free at the last moment. Many died but six escaped and they're now hunting down Ghostworks to ensure that they, or anybody else for that matter, never again inflict the horrors they suffered.

The Psychic Six

Nathan "Nate" Rogers: The eldest of the group at sixteen years old and thus viewed as the leader of the team as a result, due to being the most experienced and the most charismatic. In addition to being very likeable Nate was also quite intelligent and never failed to stand up for other people at the facility no matter how many times he was punished for it. Despite this the staff did their very best to recruit Nate into the fold, even resorting to various methods of brainwashing in order to achieve it. No matter how much Nate resisted they kept trying, for reasons specifically related to escapees from the Soviet regime when it fell.
Mister Zero: Count Reich I's Ubermensch made flesh, Marcus Zero is something of a second
generation clone. Having successfully restored the original Otto Von Mass to life through the use of a
captured Thran "memory downloader" and his pickled brain, Project: Hammer had him attempt to
recreate his Hans series even more effectively. Mister Zero was the product of attempting not only
to take the original superhuman strength of the original but also add superhuman intellect to the
process.
Mister Zero proved himself beyond their wildest expectations, becoming a master of nearly every
known form of science imaginable as well as succeeding in every possible athletic endeavor. Mister
Zero managed to win six Gold Medals and one silver medal for the Soviet Union (losing the silver in
skiing to a future member of the Tomorrow Society). Unfortunately, Mister Zero could never quite
overcome his own feelings of inferiority. Bizarrely, he wanted to prove himself against the perfect
humans appearing in the West as superheroes
Needless to say Nathan wasn't delighted to discover that he was the clone of a German mad scientist and a Soviet supervillain, or that his parents were only raising him on behalf of the organization they worked for. Having believed himself a fairly normal boy from Hannibal, Missouri the revelation that his life was essentially a lie shook him to his core and nearly allowed Ghostworks to break him, were it not for the intervention of his friends.

Only mildly telepathic Nathan's true power is to mimic any skill that he's seen performed either in person or via video, making him one of the group's best front line fighters and useful in damn near any situation.

Kyla Richards: A fifteen year old African American from Falconcrest City with impressive telepathic and telekinetic powers, which were enhanced by the experiments done to her at the facility and able to sense just what sort of calumny the staff had in store for them and the fates of the children who'd come before them, either accidentally or intentionally. It was Kyla who acted as the telepathic go between for her friends so they could plot their escape without the staff knowing and it was her who helped them figure out how to pool their powers, so they could be strong enough to effect that escape.

In many ways Kyla is the heart of the team having helped Nathan deal with the revelations about his birth, resulting in her becoming his girlfriend and helping her teammate Kim the various traumas inflicted on him by the staff, leading to her become an elder sister for him. In combat situations she uses her telepathy to keep the six of them in constant contact so they can co-ordinate their actions better. She also can use her telepathic powers to make the entire team unnoticeable, so they can get into and out of areas they otherwise wouldn't be able too. She also has the ability to use what Justin and Kim refer to as 'the Jedi mind trick' in certain situations.

Justin Davidson: A fifteen year old from Moncton, New Brunswick Justin was kidnapped not only for his telepathic ability sparse though it was but also for his intelligence. As smart as Nathan is, Justin also has a gift for gadgetry and the various sciences related to that. So not only could he decipher the various alien technology that Ghostworks was experimenting with, watching him do so allowed Nathan to be able to do that as well. Acutely aware that his skills were being used for criminal ends, Justin would rebel along with Nathan only to be punished harshly when he did so. His growing friendship with Kim Hawkins made this easy as whenever Justin rebelled they would simply punish Kim instead and make Justin watch. His inability to protect his friend sent Justin into a funk, listlessly working on gadgets, eating and sleeping in a zombie-like state. Or so it seemed.

Though he was unsure of when his ability to manipulate technology psionically developed, Justin made good use of it by plumbing the computer archives of the facility and posting them online in places he was certain superheroes would find them. He also disabled the collars all of them were forced to wear that would alert the staff if they tried to leave the facility.

Since leaving the facility Justin has managed to get his hands on various pieces of technology anyway he was able, using them to create a pair of high tech gloves with various abilities including ice powers, various energy blasts and forcefields. He would never be unable to defend his friends again.

Andrea "Andi" Scarvino: A fourteen year old from New York City with the ability to enhance her strikes with telekinetic force, who later learned to use that telekinetic force to leap long distances. Of course this wasn't enough for Ghostworks who immediately subjected her to experiments involving Grue DNA. Beyond all expectations these experiments were incredibly successful, though Ghostworks themselves would not learn it until much later. Able now to alter her body to enhance strength, agility and the like she could also alter her powers to some extent as well allowing her to create telekinetic knives or a sonic scream.

Being something of a hothead the staff at the facility dismissed Andrea as a threat, allowing her to work with Kay Cooper as they pretended to go along with the program in order to spy on the staff in order to gain information they could use to escape. Andrea also helped Kim move on when he discovered his crush on Kyla was unrequited. Like Justin she tried to protect Kim as best she could though she wasn't more successful then he was at the time. Now that they're all free of the facility, Andrea tends to act like Kim's bodyguard eager to make sure that he's never hurt again.

Kay Cooper: A thirteen year old from Provincetown, Massachusetts Kay Cooper was a pyrokinetic who also possessed a degree of telekinesis. Eager to recruit the boy into the organization due to the power of Kay's abilities the staff were delighted when Kay seemed to tow the line without trouble, despite his apparent friendship with rabble-rousers like Andrea. When it seemed Andrea was towing the line due to said friendship, the staff patted themselves on the back for finding such a compliant and useful boy. They envisioned many successful years of service for Kay in their organization and looked forward to his pyrokinetic skills taking out Foundry agents.

Kay himself was delighted to have snowed the staff and simply smiled as he spied upon them, fully intent on using the information to free everybody before using his powers to burn the facility down to the ground. That his deception required him to act as if he didn't care about said friends most of the time still bothers him. While they clearly understood that he did what was necessary for the benefit of them all, Kay still feels horrible about even pretending to be horrible to them.

He is, naturally, the team's heaviest hitter. He's also proven quite capable of working with Andrea, using what street smarts they have to help the team survive.

Kim Hawkins: The youngest member of the team who hailed from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Abducted when he was only twelve years old, his thirteenth birthday was spent in the facility being injected with an experimental mutagen laced with fear chemicals created by the original Fearmaster on the logic that intense trauma and near death experiences increased the psychic power of an individual. Already possessing some telekinesis and telepathy the mutagen ramped up Kim's telepathy almost to the same level as Kyla's, while also giving him strong empathy as well. For several horrible moments he felt the pain of all the the children being held at the facility, felt the disdain the staff held for said children and their sadistic enjoyment of his predicament. He saw things that flitted between shadows and the light that he couldn't make out, didn't want to make out.

Then he had a precognitive flash for the first time, that predicted the demise of one of the boys in the facility later that day.

It is a testament to Kim's mental fortitude and the support of his friends that Kim wasn't irrevocably broken by that incident or by any of the other indignities the staff put him through simply because he was the smallest boy in a place run by bullies. The PTSD he suffers hinders him from time to time, particularly around deep bodies of water due to being dunked repeatedly in an immersion tank as a punishment for perceived lies but Kim never fails to push past it on behalf of his friends.

Like Nate and Justin, Kim has super intelligence though his far surpasses theirs possibly making the half Filipino boy one of the smartest people in the world if not the smartest. His telekinesis is nowhere near as strong as Kyla's but he can fire small objects (a ten pin bowling ball would be the heaviest he could manage) incredibly fast making him a devastating ranged combatant.

A truly fantastic write-up of these new characters, MD!

You've managed to create a quirky potential Power Pack in the waiting while also giving them a pretty grim Stranger Things-esque background.

Nathan's origin is definitely my favorite as no one wants to find out they were made by Nazis.

Very true. I was rather surprised by how dark I got with Kim's origin, I'd worried I might have overdone it a bit there. Glad you like it and I appreciate the Power Pack reference, love those guys.

The Demon Khan's Tournament

The Iron Khan is dead.

Sort of.

The Iron Khan's mastery of sorcery and science has kept Khanate independent when much of the rest of the East and South Asian world has fallen under the sway of China or modern Western forces. Unfortunately, his constant conflicts with superheroes and the collapse of PHANTOM into WRAITH resulted in the dictator becoming isolated as well as falling way behind in terms of GDP as well as military forces.

The issue was also compounded by the fact that his immortality serums as well as various pacts have fallen as well. John Burton, Interstellar Trucker and a bunch of other heroes ended up thwarting his attempt to take over the Interstellar Khanate in what was an attempt to escape Earth's pull to become an immortal GALACTIC dictator. This cost him vast amounts of remaining resources that were further depleted when Madame Tomorrow revealed to the Celestial Bureaucracy just how badly he'd corrupted numerous gods as well as broken countless compacts designed to keep them satisfied with prayer.
Corruption in the Celestial Bureaucracy is tolerated, even encouraged, but getting caught? Oh and missing your tithes? That's just unforgivable.
Temugin has since shown himself to have absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever by proceeding to make one final pact in hopes of saving his life: he's sold his country to Orkus. The God of Evil rejuvenated Temugin one last time and proceeded to give him access to the powers of darkness he could no longer channel on his own. Unfortunately, Temugin failed to read the fine print as all of his armies were mentally enslaved to Orkus and he was kicked off the throne of Khanate before said country was mystically bonded with Abaddon.

Declaring himself The Demon Khan, Orkus has created a particularly powerful avatar with Genghis' body as the base and begun unleashing his forces into the Earth. This would have immediately resulted in an alliance of the Earth's gods and heroes descending on Khanate in order to kick some righteous ass but Orkus has been cleverer than that. Instead, he has announced to the greatest 200 warriors and magicians of the Earth that he will settle this conflict with CELESTIAL COMBAT.

The Demon Khan's Tournament will be a contest of arms and powers, limited to rough parity, to decide who will be ruler of Khanate as well as owner of its hundred million souls or so. Furthermore, he will grant a wish with his stolen magics that will fulfill the hearts desire of whoever wins the conflict. Everyone is expecting treachery from Orkus because, well, he's Orkus but no one can say that he's not going to be putting his money where his mouth is as the conflict will be supervised by the Omniscience as well as some of Earth's most powerful mages.
Unfortunately, agreeing to serve as referee for the contest has also deprived Madame Tomorrow and Seven of being able to compete themselves. Which is something that they know Orkus planned.
Orkus winning the tournament would, unfortunately, legitimize his occupation of the Khanate and permanently bond him to his avatar on this planet. Furthermore, it would flood the Earth with his kind of energies. While the ley lines presently keep the demons, monsters, and spirits of Abaddon within its borders, these would cease to be a barrier once he was the legitimate master of Khanate both spiritually as well as physically.

Temugin is, of course, furious at being "cheated" by Orkus and is determined to win the conflict himself. He is also someone who has no problem cheating as well and has already begun plotting as well as assembling his own team to assassinate, sabotage, or injure the White Lotus Society among other contestants.

Orkus expects nothing less.

Notably in addition to Earth's own champions, interstellar warriors are coming as well. Conquering a piece of the Earth is no small thing for them either.

The Splotchverse

Splotch is, despite his many accomplishments, considered to be something of a B-List superhero and not even the most memorable member of the Patriots. This is despite the fact he is a superheroic legacy and has been keeping street crime at bay in New Amsterdam well after his attempts should have resulted in his death.

This all changed when he ran into the mysterious Granny Ink who had the most bizarre collection of art in her tiny New Amsterdam studio. Each of them representing a different Splotch or member of the Splotch Family across a seeming infinite Multiverse.

Granny Ink proclaimed that in addition to being the protectors of New Amsterdam, the inheritors of the Dark Force were actually the protectors of the entire-multiverse as they had been "chosen" by its energies to serve as a balance against those who would misuse it. That they connected through cosmic strands of black inky energy that bound the universes from interfering with one another.

Now, Splotch was no stranger to the concept of a multiverse but this seemed impressively weird even by his standards. However, he became more credulous when he was attacked by the Knights of Light who were the insane servants of the Multiversal Church of the Lightbringer that wanted to destroy every Splotch everywhere.
The Multiversal Church of the Lightbringer is a bunch of brainwashed loonies who worship a sentient Pyramid of Light.
Splotch has since joined up with the Splotch Corps across multiple universes to go on adventure after adventure to rescue his fellow Splotchs as well as help them with their own myriad challenges. Unfortunately, despite defeating the Multiversal Church of the Lightbringer that wanted to unite all realities under their insane god, they have since run into a number of other unstable threats. These include Zombie Splotch, Nazi Splotch, and the Bloodstain that has gained cosmic power by eating whole universes via paradoxes.

The Splotch Corps have included among others:

* Pulp Splotch: A Splotch that appears to be the brother's Golden Age ancestor but he's a lot "sillier" (even Nick Cagian) than they expected, prone to long weird rambling speeches as well as addicted to milkshakes.

* Splotch (Supervillainy-verse): A Splotch with a slightly different history due to their grandfather marrying a Japanese woman, Stanley Oktid comes from a world that is familiar but different.

* New Splotch: Someone who makes Joel extremely uncomfortable due to the fact that he's the adult son of Afro-Puerto Rican girlfriend. He hadn't been that serious with her and meeting his possible child has gotten him seriously thinking he needs to settle down.

* Splotch Woman: Notably not his cousin, Splotch Woman is Jennifer Jameson, the private detective and foul mouthed investigator who inherited his powers. The fact Jennifer died as a teenager in his world due to his arrogance as a hero is something that makes their interactions very hard.

* Inkstain: A variant of Splotch's arch-frenemy, this version was one where he didn't divest himself of the massive boost to the Dark Force energy parasite that he'd received during the conflict in Battleworld. Instead, this Splotch is a cold and merciless killer who hungers for the life of others. Except, unlike his world's Inkstain, this version actually manages his hunger pretty well. Still, all the other Splotches would love to take him in for his gleeful psychopathy. They're just tolerating him because they need his help right now.

mightydavidson wrote: Sat Oct 23, 2021 2:23 am The Freedom League

With the continued existence of the Patriots being uncertain at this time, given the American government's apparent decision to switch their patronage from them to the Arsenal of Democracy, the Freedom League shares with the Sentinels the status of most powerful super team in the United States. Headquartered in a satellite in synchronous orbit over Freedom City, said headquarters is called the Lighthouse, the team stands vigilant to battle any threat to humanity from the Earth, the stars or anyplace else. They also try to maintain good relations with the super teams of other nations, in the event that they have to co-ordinate with those groups in the face of a threat the Freedom League can't face on it's own.
A great write-up and perfect line up for the 21st century!
American Eagle: The newest member of the Freedom League and only the second person to hold the American Eagle mantle. Thomas Clarke and his siblings were transported to another world where a dark faerie intended to make them her depraved servants, rulers of her domain of the faerie world in a twisted version of the Chronicles of Narnia. Teased and tormented each sibling was abused and altered in their own way, with Thomas being put through torturous alchemical treatments in order to increase his strength and stamina and to give him the regeneration factor common in trolls. Thomas was to be her high king, though his younger brother Edwin was clearly her favorite and every time he resisted she would make a point of tormenting one of his younger siblings, with his younger sister Janet being his favorite target.
A fantastic character and one that definitely has a lot of roleplaying potential. The fact Thomas is from the 1920s and dating a transgender woman is something that also surprises some people as they assume that he would be massively bigoted in a variety of ways. However, Thomas is actually a great deal more progressive than some people suspected. His sister, Janet, has also eagerly embraced this new world and sometimes shocks even him. Thomas does have some old fashioned values and attitudes, though, as he's been fully prepared to knock some sense into the "vultures" that try to get pictures of him with his girlfriend or harass her.

One notable thing being when he beat up (without his armor), a ex-boyfriend of Centuria who tried to sell compromising photos of (and still wants to humiliate her with once he acquires new ones via hacks or other methods). This got him an assault charge he had to do community service for.
The Bowman: The fourth man to carry the mantle of the Bowman, Fletcher Beaumont III has had a lot to live up to and for the most part he's managed it both as leader of the original Next Gen and as a member of the Freedom League. Due to the leadership ability he displayed as part of the Next Gen, Daedalus hopes that Fletcher will eventually be able to assume the same role in the Freedom League despite his thrill seeking nature. Thus far he's shown the tactical acumen to handle such a role though sadly he's not been quite so successful in his private life as his focus on superheroing has started causing issues in the Beaumont publishing empire. While things aren't to bad as of yet, the sharks have begun to circle and if he doesn't start showing interest soon, or find somebody trustworthy to run the family business, it's possible he could lose it all.
Part of this issue is the fact that Fletcher isn't really the guy to deal with the changing nature of the medium. Newspapers are a dying medium and Fletcher doesn't know nearly enough about social media to help them make the transition. He's also someone who absolutely "despises" clickbait and editorializing with his desire to print the 'unvarnished truth' and be 'objective' not really working well in the polarizing climate. His values are somewhat out of step with the activist present and not taking a side is really taking a side by itself. Sonia Gutierrez is particular in her wish he'd start DOING more with his influence while he still has any.
Centuria: The daughter of The Centurion from another dimension, placed in an interdimensional capsule by her father when her home dimension was invaded by the Terminus. Gaining powers from traveling through dimensions as her father had before her, she was educated at Claremont Academy before receiving training from the second Lady Liberty, Daedalus and Captain Thunder. Due to her heritage Centuria is a huge celebrity in the United States and around the world, though she doesn't often get to enjoy it very much due to that same heritage. She and Saturnalia Roman feud as much as their fathers used to for example and the supervillain Superior has tried to force her to wed him at least once and seems to relish the opportunity to do it again. On top of that several supervillains have been trying to make their name by taking Centuria down, particularly the vile Osprey who openly hopes to make a mockery of The Centurion's legacy.
There's also the fact Centuria has other issues that are not ones she's willing to deal with. Centuria is horrifyingly afraid of her private life being exposed. Despite being a confident and sweet heroine, the fame-hungry exploitative nature of modern superhero celebrity culture is something she has no idea how to deal with. She's seen the hell that fellow superheroine, Lady Liberty III has gone through, and it terrifies her in a way that fighting Omega's minions hasn't. This is in part due to the fact she's bisexual and been romantically linked to a couple of her fellow teammates. It is her worst fear some video or pictures will link that will define her forever as almost happened with one of Fletcher's more zealous followers.
Daedalus: The Cunning Greek's battle against the Labyrinth and The Foundry continues and while he and the Freedom League have managed to make decent headway against The Foundry and it's leader, Talos, the Labyrinth has proven as slippery as ever. Successes have been made, goals of Taurus have been thwarted and assets of his destroyed but they have yet to come close to actually capturing Taurus himself nor discovering the members of his Inner Circle which frustrates Daedalus to no end. That Taurus is up to something goes without saying, the Labyrinth is never idle in forwarding it's plans after all but the information they've gathered suggests that he's expanding his and Daedalus fears this means a reformation of the Zodiac Cartel and Labyrinth taking a more active role on the world stage.
Daedalus has had, well, let's just say a few years because he's been attempting to find long term solutions to systemic problems as his watching the corruption of the Foundation for World Harmony and fall of the Lor Republic has left him believing that he should set up Earth as a galactic power to replace it. This is a project he fully expects to take a thousand years but thinks might be the best way to also finally defeat the Labyrinth once and for. He's been working on things like free energy, universal food rations, and harnessing the power of Meta abilities to combat climate change. He's even made under the table deals with Genesis Island and less heinous criminals. His plans to make a kind of Superhero Illuminati has gone over like a wet balloon with many people believing he's adopting a little too many attitudes of his enemy.

Even so, he's less and less in the armor and using a series of proxies to handle his affairs without him.
Doctor Metropolis: The literal spirit of Freedom City is as enigmatic as ever, coming and going seemingly at random and giving no hint as to it's origins or goals, though obviously it intends to protect Freedom City and it's twin city, Freehold, to the best of it's ability. He gets along well enough with the other members of the Freedom League certainly and is polite enough with civilians though folks can't help but think he's more then a bit detached. That being said Doctor Metropolis has never failed to take a strong stance against terrorists and those who would reign destruction upon a city and it's citizens simply for the sake of it. It seems to have enmity with the Green Man due to the time that villain stole it's powers in order to murder the city's entire populace for example and during various invasions it expressed great rage at aliens who rained death and destruction upon the city from their starships. However the creature known as Hiroshima's Shadow was the only thing Doctor Metropolis seemed to actually dislike, though nobody was ever sure of why that might be the case.
Doctor Metropolis does have a secret, though. It is less secret than he thinks, though, which is rare for the nearly-omniscient city totem. Specifically, he's started a life with a family in the suburbs. His wife, Mrs. Metro, his daughter Jane Metro and son Jon Metro are all in an area between Freedom City and Freehold with their own lesser versions of his powers. This is an attempt to understand his citizens more but is humanizing him in a lot of ways that make other heroes uncomfortable. The Freedom League isn't sure if the other members of the family are actually manifestations of him or genuine people in their own right. Their dealing with bigotry and the struggles of youth also REALLY ticks off the normally unflappable elemental.
Jonny Quick: For the Freedom League's speedster things have been going pretty much as they always have: he's still a lightning rod for homophobes call him a menace due to his sexual preference, villainous speedsters are forever trying to prove that they're faster then him despite him making it very clear that he doesn't care if he's the fastest or not and of course The Maestro tries to kill him for not appreciating classical music as much as Maestro thinks he ought too. With his husband by his side Jonny can handle pretty much anything if he has too, though increasing conflicts with agents of the Eightfold Web do have him a bit alarmed to put things mildly. Aware of Daedalus' concerns regarding the Labyrinth, Jonny has become concerned that the Eightfold Web is dialing up their own activities, possibly in answer to the Labyrinth's own increased activity. Though he's made his concerns known to Daedalus, Jonny doesn't think he's heard the end of this.
Really, things have massively improved for Johnny in some respects as things are a very different place from when he first started as the only "out" hero and now he's not even the only out hero in Freedom City let alone the world. However, he is dealing with something he never expected to deal with and that's the fact he's now one of the oldest rather than youngest members of the Freedom League. It's causing him to reevaluate some of his choices and whether or not he is taking up space that could be used for other heroes. Which bothers him as he doesn't WANT to quit or start teaching at something like the Claremont Academy but he can't push himself QUITE as fast as he used to.
Lady Liberty: The latest woman to take up the mantle and powers of Lady Liberty and, much to the scandal of the less openminded parts of the country, the first transgender heroine active in the United States so far as anybody knows. Sonia Gutierrez has naturally as a result of that been the recipient of a great deal of prejudice, with some claiming that she actually managed to steal her powers from her predecessor simply because she wasn't biologically female. The fact that her first tussles with members of Lady Liberty's rogues gallery, most notable Orion the Hunter of the Crime League, have not gone so well only "proves" to such people that she's not worthy of holding the powers. The fact that her skills have vastly improved due to training with the Freedom League and she's since thwarted bigots like Knightfire and terrorist threats from the Globalist among others has not changed the minds of such people.
Lady Liberty has many good qualities but is also something of a massive loudmouth that has gotten her into trouble on more than one occasion. By taking as firm a stance as she has on human rights (which includes a lot of people not protected by the legal system as she should), she has started the same process that happened two centuries earlier with the splitting of Lady Liberty into two separate individuals during the American Civil War.

While Southern apologists have tried to say this is because the Southern cause was valid, in truth it is more like a parasite than anything else. The other Lady Liberty manifesting is Mary Roach AKA Lady Righteous, a news anchor for an Anti-Super rag secretly controlled by August Roman. She plans on running for Congress and is, bluntly, a nutcase with not even the genteel manners of her Confederate forebearer. Sonia feels physically sick every time Mary manifests her powers and the two are opposites not only on politics but how they wield the same abilities.

Part of why Lady Liberty isn't as strong as she could be is that only one of them can exist and they'll eventually have to settle it permanently. Lady Righteous thinks this means killing her doppelganger. Sonia won't cross that line.
Mar'ann: The Galactic Guardsman assigned to Earth and a dear friend of Earth's Star Knight, Maria Montoya. A member of the alien people known as the Thran, Mar'ann is both larger and stronger then a human capable of defeating several of them in hand to hand combat even without her Galactic Guardsman gear. Due to the Thran's attempt to conquer the Earth awhile ago Mar'ann still receives prejudice from certain circles and distrust from the US government, despite her long tour of duty with the Patriots. The fact that she betrayed the Thran in order to help Earth defeat them in the first place is often overlooked by dimmer folks. The fact that there's at least one organization dedicated to causing trouble for aliens is not making things any easier for Mar'ann either.
Mar'Ann coming from another planet means that she's also stumbled into the celebrity-focused nuttiness of the 21st century with the Liberty Men's many issues. Tsavong concepts of gender are, well, fluid and she has no issue with Lady Liberty but has unwittingly gossiped about a lot of things that other members would keep secret since the thought they'd be secrets would never occur to her. This includes Sonia's relationship with Clark, details of his imprisonment, and her own lovelife with several Earth humans (some of which hadn't known about the others). Centuria is particularly furious with her because she is afraid she'll reveal their relationship even as Mar'Ann ships her and Fletcher (as well as wants to renew her relationship, ahem, with both).

She is the ultimate in innocently insensitive.
Siren: The current vessel of the Voodoo Loa of the seas and as a result the usual go between when the Freedom League has to deal with the various realms that the surface world refers to as Atlantis. She tends to take the lead when the team faces off against villains from the sea like Merrow, Deep Ones or the villainous scion of Nautilus known as Neptune. In his attempts to claim the throne of Nautilus, Neptune has attempted to woo Siren more then once and has even attempted to take her by force once or twice as well. Each time she's managed to fend him off as despite his superficial charm, Siren can tell that he's not been empowered by any Cosmic Eternal as he claims. Indeed she can clearly sense the true source of his power as it is one of her direst foes: the Entropic Master known as Dagon.
Siren has received some rather generous offers from other individuals to be their queen that she's been more receptive too, including the White Lion who notes that she would be a valuable asset to his kingdom. While a bit old to be siring heirs, a fact she sometimes regrets, that's easily fixable with their technology. Similarly, Siren has received an offer to be queen of Genesis Island and wife to Cassius Mass. This absurd offer on the face of it is one she's also entertaining because the dictator has mellowed considerably over the years and has a great deal less tradition to deal with. Siren also suspects he would almost certainly prefer to actually leave the ruling to her and get back to science (which is something nobody expected). Attraction wise, they're both about even.
Star Knight: The other cosmic defender of the Earth on the team and one of the longest serving members of the team aside from Daedalus himself. As a result she's usually considered the leader of the team these days, with either Daedalus or Jonny Quick taking command when she's not around which sadly is happening quite a bit as of late due to the situation in the galaxy these days. Not only due to the fall of the Lor Republic but the rise of the Argents and the Blackguard as well, particularly since a great many Void Knights have chosen to join the latter organization for their own reasons. The apparent start of an alliance between the Void Patrol and the Argents isn't doing much to make her feel better either and the fact that The Cosmic Mind might have begun operations in the Stellar Khanate isn't wonderful news either.
Star Knight is also someone who has bristled at the fact that other Star Knights have been appointed to Earth in her place. This shouldn't be taken by her as an insult but her personality clashes with them multiple times. The fact one of them, Starbright, a Claremont Academy superheroine selected to be her successor (without consulting her) is a fan girl of hers since she was six years old has also left her feeling her age in the same way that Johnny Thunder is. The worst part? The worst part is she KNOWS she should be taking a leadership role in the greater galaxy and Star Knights but that would permanently take her away from Earth.
Thunderbolt: Ray Gardener Jr, the son of Captain Thunder and one of the more tragic stories in the superhero world at the moment. In an attempt to prove himself to his father Ray faced off against Dr. Stratos, his father's archenemy, on his own. Overwhelmed and needing to be rescued by his father it became clear that he'd been the bait for a trap laid for his father. With a great deal of willpower Ray was able to prevent himself from being turned into a "Thunderbomb" that would have obliterated both himself and his now powerless father, he even managed to defeat Dr. Stratos but in the process he became a being of living energy. Daedalus and Dr. Atom were able to keep him from dissipating by transferring his energy form into an advanced containment suit but Thunderbolt's life would never be the same again.
Thunderbolt more or less spends all of his time fighting supervillainy these days. Since he no longer requires sleep or a secret identity, he does the work of three superheroes at once and has actually managed to step out of his father's shadow through sheer volume of work. Unfortunately, Ray Gardener (no one calls him junior) has become a humorless unpleasant man who thinks of the rest of his team as a bunch of sex-obsessed celebrities more obsessed with fame than helping people. This is just misdirected anger and he's aware of that on some level. Some heroes worry he's a future Psychotic Seven member in the making but Thunderbolt would rather die first.

He's also an absentee dad as he managed to sire a now-adolescent son on a fellow student before his transformation. It is his greatest shame he's barely been a part of Ray III's life.

Supervillainy-Verse Notes

Entropicus: The Biblical Cain eventually lived to the end of the universe and given the chance to repent, angrily refused and has since fled back into the rest of the time stream seeking power to overthrow God as well as the rest of the celestial order. A Dark Lord who rules a pocket universe at the end of time, Entropicus draws most of his power from a pact with Orkus as well as the fact that he was once lovers with Death. Typical plots include multiversal genocide, conquest, and acquiring the True Name of Reality. He has sensed the Mightyverse's loss of its Master Mage and believes it would be vulnerable to invasion, though notes others have tried and failed. Orkus' relationship with him can be summarized as similar to Skeletor's relationship with Horde Prime. There's a level of respect but one is plotting against the other even when allied.

Merciless: A Gary Karkofsky has visited this world from his own on his Multiversal travels and has gotten himself into no end of trouble upon arrival. Simply put, a superhero who claims to be a supervillain with an Iron Age sensibility but a Silver Age sense of humor does not gell at all with the tone of the place. He has wandered like a wrecking ball into multiple situations where superheroes don't know what to make of him. He's proven impossible to keep imprisoned, impossible to kill, and generally just incredibly annoying. Jane Doe AKA Weredeer has commented on, "It's like someone put Wizard Deadpool in the Freedom City RPG. Oh, right, you don't know either of those things."

Strangely enough, he's made a couple of unexpected friends due to the fact that the people he unleashes his terrifying potential on are primarily PHANTOM, SHADOW, and WRAITH. The Jewish superhero (villain? Both?) also sending Superior running with his tail between his legs despite his seeming incompetence has become a meme. Without Earth's Master Mage, though, sending him home seems impossible.

President Omega: The former President of Earth-737,218 is a time traveling lunatic from a Utopian future who has escaped into the Multiverse to wreck havok simply by how BORING it all is. He assisted Tom Terorr in finding the Mightyverse and has had several confrontations with the locals. He is, in simple terms, a psychotic spoiled child with advanced super technology plus an army of cloned minions as well as kidnapped individuals desperate to get home and/or brainwashed. Think an American version of John Simm's Master and give him Kang's forces. Omega the actual god actually gave him much of his tech and their brief encounter drove Charles Omega (previously Charles Wilson) mad.

The Primals: Fate, Death, Destiny, Life, Chaos, Order, Creation, and Destruction are omniversal beings that sort of transcend PL X. They are, however, extremely bored and surprisingly humanized entities who can (and often are) everywhere doing something off the wall at any given time. This can be hanging out at a coffee shop discussing poetry or engaged in epic rap battles ("flyting" as Destiny would call them) for the fate of a universe about to be destroyed. Being Chosen as one's champion or herald is a sure route to godhood or godhood but their criteria is utterly inscrutable if not outright arbitrary.

Red Riding Hood: The deranged but adorable heroine has added another element to the Mightyverse that didn't previously exist in the "psychopath everyone loves." Violent female criminals who have just enough antiheroic tendencies to blow up on social media have caused as many headache for the Freedom League as Gary, especially when you have young girls going as her for Halloween. This version of Cindy Wakowski is less interested in fighting Nazis and overthrowing the bourgeois than she is simply making bank while looking good at it. On the other hand, she can usually be roped into whatever scheme he has cooking against the "fascists."

The amount of magic in the world has fully awakened her werewolf self but the fact she's already a psychopath means that she maintains complete control over the beast. "Want, take, have" is in complete communion with the spirit within. OF COURSE both Black Wing and Foreshadow ended up in brief tumultous affairs. It's practically their motto. Raven was less receptive to her overtures. "The world had no resistance to Harley Quinn Werewolf," Jane would say. "It was like the Black Death."

Tom Terror: The Council of Terrors is a universal alliance of the Nazi Mad Scientist and his desire to conquer the Multiverse. They're all enemies of one another but it's rare that they get a chance to consult with a peer. The Tom Terror of Earth-737,281 was driven off his universe fairly recently and has decided to set up permanent shop before plotting a long-game revenge. The fall of Death's Head represents an excellent opportunity for the man and his absolute irredeemable evil means he's quite good at picking up the pieces. He did, unfortunately, bring along some passengers he'd like to dispose of and it's only a matter of time before the heroes of the Supervillainy-verse (or its alternate) come looking for him.

Weredeer: Jane Doe doesn't hail from the Supervillainy-verse. Instead, she hails from Earth-V where supernaturals like vampires and shifters are vastly more common while metahumans are almost nonexistence. Interestingly, the majority of superheroes present in the Mightyverse are fictional characters and she's familiar with them (almost to an absurd degree) due to her love of comic book as well as superhero prose. Her powers are fairly limited by comparison to most heroes in the world (PL: 8) but being able to turn into a deer as well as possessing their proportional strength as well as speed has kept her alive while she seeks a way home.

She's mostly been hanging around the Claremont Academy for lack of anything better to do and is serving as a TA and ertswhile bodyguard.

Officially a sub team of the Freedom League, the Freedom Knights began as a joint effort between the League and the Patriots prior to the apparent dissolution of the Patriots intended to take the fight to organized crime, particularly the International Crime Syndicate and the Black Hand, as well as ferret out information on the activities of terrorist organizations like SHADOW and the Eightfold Web. Officially led by the second Blackwing, the group is more of a mutual respect society rather then a strict hierarchy as each member of the team is more then well aware of their teammates' skill at crime solving. Also even when the Patriots were still active as a team the Knights were never a Freedom League/Patriots outfit only as Blackheart of the Sentinels has been a member of the team since their second outing, when they foiled an ICS human trafficking ring which was providing subjects to a cabal of mad scientists
The Freedom Knights are actually something of a solution to a problem no one was actually aware they had until it started getting solved. Basically, a large number of street vigilantes in the Mightyverse are brooding loner types who continue their escapades until they got killed or were forced into retirement. Worse, a large amount of them were actually never actually getting off the ground as they started their careers only to be shut down early due to a lack of the right information, training, or backup at a critical time. No one can guess at how many would be Bowmen, Ravens, or Black Wings ended up dead on their third or fourth outing.

The Freedom Knights didn't exactly make every street vigilante suddenly sociable but it did, however, give them a lot more sharing of information and equipment. A centralized database (with multiple backups and partitioned networks) suddenly opened up a huge amount of connections that none of them previously suspected existed between criminal syndicates. Something that dwarfed even the International Crime Syndicate and PHANTOM (as well as used them as proxies).

You could call this organization "Labyrinthine"

The group also suddenly started providing each other services of street doctors, night nurses, magic healers, and other basic care for things that were needed to back them up. While boot camp would be better for a lot of would-be vigilantes, bluntly the mentoring system has also helped a lot of them as well. Either you had what it took to survive Foreshadow's six weeks of training or you should probably retire. It wasn't the Claremont Academy and if you didn't have powers, or ones that were immediately useful, you'd have to work for it.

For example: Mark the Tailor now manufactures forty suits a year for heroes that are bulletproof, fire proof, and disrupt cameras rather than the two he used per year. Thankfully, he's already a millionaire since most can't pay for them.

It's still not even a formal group but suddenly a LOT less vigilantes are dying and thus their numbers are growing and forming their own teams in city after city. Taurus and others have noticed a percentage or two drop in profits that they haven't yet put together. It's just that percentage represents net loss of billions. Similarly, the Black Hand is just not having nearly as much effectiveness or capability of putting pressure on the White Lotus Society anymore.

(The loss of Khanate hasn't exactly helped either)

Red Leopard, Aquarian, Manhattan Project, the Union Siblings, Moss Pit and Hecate. In better says some of them were considered among the best heroes the world had to offer and even lesser lights like Manhattan Project were undeniably on the side of good even if they weren't the most competent heroes the world had ever seen. Now a days however their names are synonymous with treason and destruction, with people only recalling the massive collateral damage they caused when attempting to capture criminals, the brutal executions of said criminals and of course their attempt to conquer the United States of America.
Fantastic story about their final ride, no notes.
Hecate alas, would fall deeper into delusion believing that she'd been betrayed not only by Athena but by every other hero who'd tried to stop her when she was part of the Psychotic Seven and grew closer to her father Ares and the rest of her family. Studying with her father, her brothers Phobos and Deimos and her aunt Enyo, Greek Goddess of Destruction, she learned all manner of ways to cause chaos, bloodshed and terror. She would study the darkest of magics but she had more in mind then a simple rampage, oh no for a sorceress with divine boons from all her relations, that was not nearly a suitable enough revenge. For after all Adrian Eldritch had fallen, there was no Master Mage of the Earth at the moment and thus she was provided with a unique opportunity.

She would become the Master Mage of Earth, she would become the Earth's Dark Lady and all humanity would suffer for her betrayal.
Athena has since ascended to the throne of Olympus after she overthrew her father (the prophecy about Zeus being overthrown by his child with Metis never occurring to him to refer to a girl child). However, she has not forgottne heir and has charged her successor goddesses in the New Muses with the task iof redeeming or capturing her for treatment. This is a very tall order for them and even as a team working together, they've barely survived their encounters with her. Now that she has a team, it's hopeless unless they find some help.
Bloodwing: One of, if not the most, deadliest supervillains in the history of the world. Though he's been thwarted hundreds of times he's managed to rack up a body count exceeding that of every supervillain in the world and he's more then happy to raise that tally by as much as he is able. He is no mere thug either, horrifyingly enough as he possesses the vast knowledge and skill of Blackwing and occasionally the resources as well, all commanded by a mind as cold bloodedly vicious as The Shape from Halloween.
Oddly enough, the present Blood Wing is significantly more "chill" than the other members of his serial killing associates and this is due to the fact he attempted to steal Black Wing's soul and ended up with a fragment of it. Only a tiny bit but enough that he actually is interested in punishing "evil doers" over normal people for the Hell of it. He's not even sure why he does it. He also feels a weird...affection...for Hecate that is different than he feels for other mortals. This almost allowed him to kill Black Wing in their last encounter as he reacted in ways that are inconsistent with his past self. Still, he captures people who fit his "code" and tortures them to death so he's not a good dude despite his dispassion. When he's not with the Psychotic Seven, he works as a Miami Coroner. Yes, he's seen the show. This version is more likely to plot the deaths of millions because Hecate asked him to rather than himself.

He is, ironically, the only member of the team that remembers they're supposed to be punishing evil or cares (and he barely cares save as it's the only kind he gets any enjoyment out of these days).
Conqueror Worm: The greatest enemy of the superhero The Raven, recently returned from the grave due to the magics of Malador the Mystic that he might bedevil the world once again. The Conqueror Worm is one of the few villains in the world who can match Bloodwing for sheer murderous malice to the extent that most of the original Raven's foes simply refused to work with him by the end of his life. His mad schemes, sometimes only thwarted by the barest of margins by The Raven, were always designed to cause as much death and insanity as he was possible and he delighted at tearing down the trappings of society and sometimes specific people, if the mood struck him. There is no hope that a clash of egos between Worm and Bloodwing will hamper their plans either, the two get along quite well and relish the opportunity to pool their murderous skills.
The Conqueror Worm IS worried about his friend's "change of heart", however. He believes the essence of Black Wing has infected him somehow and also throws a lot of shade at Hecate for corrupting him somehow (since it was her plan to steal Black Wing's soul and corrupt it). He's not sure which it is and some people might construe his desire to change Bloodwing back and/or destroy Hecate to be jealousy. But such emotions are for lesser beings. Still, he would very much like to get that fragment out of Bloodwing before it gets him doing more damage.
Ligeia: The Conqueror Worm's partner in crime and lover, who gleefully aided every psychotic endeavor he ever planned. Though overshadowed by her boss during his lifetime, though she would still prove herself dangerous during this period regardless, Ligeia would prove to be incredibly dangerous in her own right after the Conqueror Worm's demise at the hands of Raven. Deciding to become a living monument to her beloved's criminal career, Ligeia engaged in an orgy of violence and depravity that terrorized even some of the criminals who deigned to work with her. Corruption was her vibe during this period too as she would target the Next-Gen and the Tomorrow Society hoping to corrupt it's younger members to evil. During this period she would also create some of the most vicious street gangs Freedom City had ever seen, gangs that would give even FORCE Ops pause.
Ligeia has noticed a few things that are troubling her now that Conqueror Worm has returned to the team. The fact he's much more interested in Blood Wing and obsessing over him and his activities has left her feeling neglected. There's also the fact that while she has grown significantly as a murderous kill-happy supervillain, Conqueror Worm doesn't seem to appreciate this or treat her remotely as an equal. She's showing remarkable patience with him but it is slowly building up to some sort of fight. Probably, ironically, blaming Bloodwing as opposed to her beloved Wormy.
Fearmonger: The second villain to use this name and his gimmick is pretty much explained by his name. Unlike the first Fearmonger, this one tends to use elements of slasher movies in his schemes and particularly his costume. Though he's not yet reached the horrible heights of his namesake, his skill at causing fear was still more then enough for Hecate to recruit him. He leapt at the opportunity too as, after all, it's not every day somebody offers you the opportunity to terrorize an entire universe.

That they're totally into each other likely helped as well.
Fearmonger is completely oblivious to the fact that Bloodwing has decided he will be one of his victims. Indeed, he's completely oblivious to the bubbling cauldron of problems underneath the team's apparent happy surface. Indeed, he's been having the time of his life and is surprised at any time any of the team show disatisfaction with their current rampage.
Razortalon: An Australian villain who has the ability to turn into a beast man and is therefore rather straightforward in his villainy. He lives to hunt and kill and the more dangerous the target the better, which is usually why he targets humans and metahumans. Normally he satisfies these urges by being an assassin and has in the past been hired by SHADOW, PHANTOM, the House of Serpents, the ICS and even the Labyrinth (though in that case he didn't know who he was actually working for.) He's battled most of the superheroes in the world by this point and while he's been captured many times, none of them have found a way to keep him incarcerated. Hecate recruited him by promising to give him a populated world or two to use as his very own hunting preserve, once she achieved her goals.
Razortalon is an irredeemable mass murdering psycho and less than kind to women. However, a mistake that many individuals have made over the years that his archenemy, Demon Rider has done his best to convey to others is that Razortalon is SIMPLE in his tastes. That does not mean STUPID. Kill, get paid, get laid. Kill again. That doesn't mean he's not an incredible observer of human behavior (his super senses help) nor a cunning tactician. He is WELL aware of the Psychotic Seven's current roster being a ticking bomb and is just waiting for it to explode with a beer in his hands.

No, not Fosters, that's for tourists.

He has no illusions that Hecate will be able to provide him an island let alone a world but he's just enjoying the soap opera until the fireworks.
Bloodstain: A deranged psychopath with the powers of the superhero Splotch. All he wishes to do is kill and maim and unless he's completely restrained, he will try to do just that even when he doesn't have his powers. When he does he's one of the nastiest supervillains Splotch, or anybody else for that matter, have the misfortune of dealing with. He's not bright but he is cunning in the way of a dangerous animal like a wolf or a tiger and Hecate treats him more like a pet then an equal.

So long as she lets him kill people, Bloodstain doesn't mind all that much.
Bloodstain is surprisingly nervous as part of the Psychotic Seven, which he covers in bravado. The simple fact is he's not used to being on a team of individuals that he cannot intimidate or abuse into compliance. He's used to being the alpha in any social situation and just about everyone else is stronger than him or possessed of no human emotions. Killing Bloodwing was supposed to make him the most feared of the group but he just came back the next day and didn't even seem to phase him.

He's also on the run. Stain has fully converted to the side of the heroes and while he's not going to be joining the Freedom League any time soon, the Lethal Vigilante has made it his "redemption" to hunt down and destroy his wayward half-brother. Fearmonger has tried to befriend Bloodstain but the simple fact is that Bloodstain is irritated that he gets more attention from Hecate and considers him the primary competition for "murder art."

Re: The Mightyverse

Post by mightydavidson »

The Demon Khan tournament was a master stroke for Orkus, enabling him to establish a foothold on Earth and enabling him to form a powerful avatar as well. The issue was however that he would have to fight for it and while the need to crown a new Master Mage prevented the most powerful mages of the planet Earth from competing they were all permitted to name proxies to fight on their behalf, in addition to that the challenge to 200 warriors of Earth had been extended not just to the planet itself but to the entirety of the dimension Earth was part of. Which meant that he would have to deal with quite a few more fights then he anticipated.

The Demon Khan himself was seeking revenge of course and though he had knowledge of the weaknesses of Orkus' avatar and the magical skill to capitalize upon them Orkus wasn't to worried. The Grand Emperor of Hong Kong entering his loyal dragon Jin Long into the tournament caused him considerably more concern. As did the frost giant Big Thunder entering the tournament as well, as the colossal Canadian packed quite a punch even if he wasn't quite as formidable as Ymir.

Of course the moment that thought crossed his mind the Atomic Viking joined the tournament as well, much to Orkus' annoyance. The Pugilist joining the fight as well only made things worse. Though not as strong as some of the other combatants entering the tournament Orkus was familiar with the Puglist and how the Bostonian had managed to defeat a great many of Orkus' most formidable servants in the past and due to his friendship with Orkus' son Cantor he was well aware of various weaknesses that Orkus possessed.

Then Cantor himself joined the tournament, which only increased Orkus' ire.

It was when Heracles and Son Wukong signed up that Orkus realized that perhaps he'd started something that was going to be a great deal harder to win then he'd initially anticipated.
