Bulwark

The metal smashes hard against the robot causing it to stagger back and deepening the dent in its chest plate.

But it is still standing.

Harry "The Shield" Mackenzie
HP: 0
Cnd: Fatigued, -1 dmg res.

Harry cringes when the blaster bolt hits him in the back. But that doesn't stop the old warhorse from pressing the attack. Whirling around he swings his left leg in a wide arc, intent on slamming the ball of his heel into Dr. Jeste.

Madame Macabre

HP: 1
Cnd: Normal

Elizabeth remains oblivious to the chaotic battle raging within the hall. As she walks slowly, methodically around the summoning-circle, her path will soon bring her dangerously close to her enemies. But she has no choice. The ritual is very specific about what must be done (or at least that is how she remembers it).

Her steps eventually bring her to a point on the outer edge of the circle where she stops. She turns - facing the circle - and squats down with her hand slightly extended. There are small symbols, an abhorrent alphabet of some kind, that form words unknown to anyone but the enemy-ritualists and Elizabeth herself. Scribbled in blood these words serve to invite the Aberrant from its own plane of existence. With her extended hand, the pale necromancer smears out one of the words, blood now covering her hand. In its place she draws new symbols, intending to slowly diffuse the summoning-circle itself. Once finished, she rises and continues her trance-walk around to the far side of the circle.

The Shield

It's clear to the hero that Dr Jeste is little more than a normal human. Even though it is a glancing blow, it nearly puts him down.

The mad scientist is barely standing.

Czarina

Refusing to acknowledge defeat, Czarina lashes her whip out at Silver Phoenix.

"Stop standing around and kill these Americans!" she shouts at the indecisive robots.

The Shield throws himself in the way of the blast, tanking it.

The second robot fires at his assailant, Zyzzak.

Khan and Medea

A war of psyches battles on for control of the beast just on the other side of the portal. Each mage is straining with all their might

Khan continues to shout words that no one understands. Waves of power push back on Medea, causing her to step back.

Medea chuckles. "Infant. I was there when that spell was transcribed." Her hand circles around, and her fingers make intricate movements. The waves of power dissipate.

"Impossible," Khan gasps.

"And your pronunciation is crap."

Silver Phoenix:
[Harper Zhao]
Condition: Bruised
HP: 1

The martial artist's blows land solidly, and the Russian villain is only barely able to stay standing. Refusing to acknowledge defeat, Czarina lashes her whip out at Silver Phoenix. "Stop standing around and kill these Americans!" she shouts at the indecisive robots.

Seeing one of the Juggernaut’s targeting her, Silver Phoenix is distracted just enough that she cannot fully avoid the other woman’s attack. Luckily, the whip barley tears through her uniform and isn’t enough to prevent her from completely avoiding the robot’s eye beams.

The silver energy still surrounds Silver Phoenix’s body as she backflips her way out of the robot’s attack, then she comes right back at Czarina with a new volley of martial strikes.

OOC wrote:Toughness Check (vs DC 18): _: 1D20+8 = [9]+8 = 17, Bruised.

The Juggernaut’s attack misses.

Keeping with what’s working, Silver Phoenix will use Phoenix’s Flowing Flame Claw again.
Attack Roll: _: 1D20+12 = [17]+12 = 29.

"Cool" Luke
HP: 1
CND: Ice Cold

"I think I like your voice when it's less killing bent Czarina. I'm all for bossy women, sometimes, but ordering robots to kill us is a bit much no?", retorts Luke when Czarina gives her orders. Looking at the others, Luke keeps up the glib American who just wanted to watch a movie tune. "If we are form the future, clearly y'all lost. So by time travel rules you guys don't summon the demon that will kill everything. Does it make sense you would let such a cool and classy American like me live?", says Luke.

Cool Luke

Your blast hits the defenseless robot smashing open it's armor exposing critical components. Badly damaged critical components, as it were. Zyzzak can feel the robot stop struggling under the tractor beam.
Since the Juggernaut is Defenseless, the rolled hit is a Critical.

Evelyn "Bulwark" Gracen
HP: 3
Cnd: Healthy

Taking note of Shogun's menacing advance on the team's mystic, Evelyn released her power's hold on the chunk of metal she had used as a weapon. Redirecting her focus she tried to grasp hold of the swordsman's metalic equipment and hold him in place. Thus stalling his progress before he could get into striking range of Elizabeth.

Madame Macabre

HP: 1
Cnd: Normal

As if the shouting and theatrics of Khan and Medea are not enough, Elizabeth finally reaches the point of her counter-ritual where she must challenge the intensity of the opposing summoners. She dreads this part as it will certainly draw more attention to herself than she has up to this point. But she is facing two powerful mystics, both intent on drawing the attention of an unfathomable menace to this world.

As she continues her orbit, her commands are now vocalized as loudly as possible. When she is forced to mention the name of the creature, her voice trembles. Merely saying its name over and over forces the chanter to think about the nature of the entity…and that can cause despair and even madness.

Relying on her own Entropy Field and teammates to keep her safe, she tries not think of her own vulnerability. This is the point where she needs the utmost concentration and focused willpower. She hopes that her own shouting will distract the two summoners even if but for a few moments…anything to weaken their resolve and close the portal.
