Defenses:

Complications:
Motivation (Becoming a World-Class Fighter)- Mila meets and befriends a series of great fighters and trains to defeat them and face her idol, Bass Armstrong, and beat him, too.

Total: Abilities: 52 / Skills: 32--16 / Advantages: 10 / Powers: 2 / Defenses: 11 (91)

-A practically flat-chested female character in this franchise (why, she has a mere 34" bustline!), Mila gets in on the "MMA Craze" by giving us a tall, thinner athlete-type in a sports bra & shorts. A big fan of Bass, she was convinced to fight in the tournament by Zack, who gives her an invitation and challenges her to a fight, which she wins. She ultimately loses to Hitomi in the tournament. She returns in DOA 6, and is said to have won an MMA Title between tournaments.

-I must say, though, there is not enough HELL YES in the universe to go around with this one! It's odd for a game so focused towards Fanservice & Waifus that I don't really find myself ga-ga for so many of the female characters- maybe the interchangeability of them is a turn-off (so many have the same face and body shapes- even Lisa, who is closer to my "type", is just the basic design dipped in tea), but the tougher-looking, more angular girl here is VERY appealing. She actually looks physically strong and tough, unlike literally everybody else.

-Mila's specialty in fights is using Improved Trip to haul people to the ground and pound them down, MMA style. Unfortunately this isn't really any different mechanically in terms of stats so she's basically like everyone else- just player her differently, I guess.

Defenses:
Dodge +13 (DC 23), Parry +15 (DC 25), Toughness +2, Fortitude +5, Will +7

Complications:
Motivation (Proving Herself)- Treated like an outcast all her life and with horrible origins (she is the result of a rape), Ayane is cold and detached, yet perseveres in an attempt to prove herself superior to all those who'd judged and mistreated her.
Relationship (Hayate- Haf-Brother)- Ayane is close enough to Hayate that his favoritism towards Kasumi led her nearly to suicide once.
Relationship/Rivalry (Kasumi- Half-Sister)- The two were best friends as children, even before they discovered a familial relationship. However, Ayane grew bitter over mistreatment from the family and learning that she was the product of the rape of their mother Ayame, and the two girls became rivals.
Responsibility (Mugen Tenshin Clan)- Ayane is now the leader of their ninja clan.

Total: Abilities: 58 / Skills: 58--29 / Advantages: 20 / Powers: 7 / Defenses: 18 (134)

-The lavender-haired Ayane is one of the most popular Dead Or Alive characters, and of great importance to the series- she is the half-sister of Kasumi & Hayate, being the result of the rape of their mother by their uncle, Raidou (the first DOA's Final Boss). Because of her origins, she was mistreated by much of her ninja clan, leading her to be a bit of an outsider. She & Kasumi grew up best friends, unaware of her parentage, but Ayane grew jealous when she learned of the truth, feeling like Kasumi had been the "princess" of the clan, and redoubled efforts into her ninja studies to prove she could be great, too. Ayane & Kasumi fought in the first tournament, Kasumi winning and going on to kill Raidou personally. Ayane has thereafter been set after Kasumi, who had "betrayed" the clan by going off on her own. Ayane's mission was then to kill her half-sister to preserve the clan's secrets. She fails, and is then brainwashed by DOATEC into fighting Hayabusa & Hayate- she is returned to normal after being defeated.

-Ayane is the canonical winner of DOA 3, and undergoes a character shift- when she complains that Hayate still wants to save the "traitor" Kasumi, he slaps her. She nearly commits suicide, but is stopped by her mother, who convinces her that Hayate won't stay mad at her. Ultimately, she & Kasumi bury the hatchet and kill Genra, who had betrayed the clan to DOATEC- she is named the leader of their clan as a result. After this, she is largely just "one of the heroes", teaming with Hayate, Hayabusa and others against the villains of the series. In DOA 6, she defeats both the mysterious new Honoka (discovering she is her own half-sister- a daughter of Raidou's) and NiCO of the new villain army, but is surprised by shock-gloves and brainwashed into fighting Kasumi again- Kasumi defeats her. Ultimately, however, all four siblings join forces and kill a revived Raidou.

-Ayane is, overall, a more cynical, angry and less-friendly female character, but still one of the chestiest in the series, likely playing into a number of famously-attractive personality types. The whole "Defrosting Ice Queen" thing comes to mind. Her relationship with Kasumi is somewhat central to the games- Ayane's resentment at Kasumi's prefered status in the clan gives way to a murderous attitude when Kasumi "abandons" them, but as the games go on, Ayane understands Kasumi's position and even seems to save her at various points (preventing her from trying to save Helena Douglas from a burning building, for example).

-Ayane is half a PL lower than Kasumi, owing to the numerous defeats she's suffered at the main charater's hands. She's nonetheless quite high level herself, and has performed well in the series since the beginning, and has the same Nina Magic as her family members, albeit she loses the "Ninja Teleport". She is considered the fastest character in the series, with a ton of nimble, intercepting attacks, but is harder to use than Kasumi (who has a similar style). She has a whole set of moves that can be set off when her back is turned- this is advantageous, but leaves her vulernable to counterattack (ie. she All-Out Attacks a lot).

HONOKA
Role:

First Appearance: Dead or Alive 5 Last Round (2015)
Total Appearances: DOA5 (LR), DOA 6
PL 8 (90)
STRENGTH

Expertise (Martial Arts) 6 (+6)
Perception 2 (+4)

Advantages:
Agile Feint, Chokehold, Fast Grab, Grab Finesse, Improved Critical (Unarmed), Improved Defense, Improved Hold, Improved Initiative, Improved Trip, Power Attack, Prone Fighting

Powers:

"Special Moves" Strength-Damage +2 (Inaccurate -1) [1]

Offense:

Special Moves +13 (+3 Damage, DC 18)
Initiative +9

Defenses:
Dodge +9 (DC 19), Parry +14 (DC 24), Toughness +2, Fortitude +4, Will +4

Complications:
Reputation (Ditz)- Honoka seems to forget people she's met before, and behaves in a very childlike manner.
Responsibility (Raidou's Daughter)- Honoka has inherited her father's ability to copy moves he's seen before, and is targetted for her familial link by people like MIST.

Total: Abilities: 52 / Skills: 28--14 / Advantages: 10 / Powers: 2 / Defenses: 11 (89)

-A relatively new character, Honoka is a schoolgirl-looking kid and the daughter of Raidou, making her half-sister to Ayane, but is actually a notch older than Ayane. She revealed secret powers in the DOA5 tournament qualifiers (such as the ability to perfectly mimic fighting styles), and MIST develops an interest in her. In DOA 6, she is captured by Christie and made to help revive the dead Raidou- she is rescued by Hayate, but left unconscious and not a part of the game's finale. Overall, she seems to be another new "Borderline Childlike Girl", with a soft, girly voice and happy demeanor. It's suggested she was based off of an early design for Marie Rose, who has a similar character and nature, but Honoka's MUCH bustier, fitting what's popular for Japanese waifus (the designers explicitly say she's based off of anime tropes with "a childlike face but a huge bust"). She is in fact the bustiest girl in the entire series, beating even Tina. Though the CGI nature of the game seems to actually limit this a bit, as even in the NUMEROUS skimpy bikini shots, she's nowhere near as big as say, Mai Shiranui's cel animated version.

-In-game, Honoka's another character said to be hard to use, as she has an unorthodox fighting style based around ending up in odd positions or behind the foe (mix-ups), etc.

Prejudice (Monster)- Raidou has decayed gray skin and cybernetic body parts. He cannot pass for an ordindary human and frightens normal people.
Enemy (Everyone)- Raidou remembers little, but Kasumi, Hayate and even his own daughter Ayane all hate him.

Total: Abilities: 64 / Skills: 52--26 / Advantages: 13 / Powers: 11 / Defenses: 17 (131)

-Raidou is the Final Boss of the first Dead Or Alive, and vastly important to the overall plot- he is the uncle of Kasumi & Hayate, and had raped their mother to produce Ayane, their half-sister and rival. Power-hungry and incredibly evil, he was the eldest son of the main family of their ninja clan, but was passed over by his father due to his murderous fighting style, whereas his brother Shiden used a style fitting the clan's principles. Raidou, meanwhile, would injure or even kill his sparring partners. And so Shiden was named the clan successor and was taught the secret technique of the family (Torn Sky Blast), enraging Raidou, who grew deformed and imbued with lightning, transforming him into a demonic form. He learned the ability to copy the powers of other fighters (meaning he's a knock-off of Dural from Virtua Fighter- a "Copycat Fighter").

-Returning in modern times, he badly injures Hayate, Shiden's successor, who uses the Torn Sky Blast against him- the villain happily copies it, crippling Hayate. He was killed by Kasumi at the end of the first tournament, using the secret technique that Shiden had learned. Much later, a daughter named Honoka appears, using the same powers. Raidou does not return until an update of the fifth game, having his body taken by Donovan and resurrected using NiCO's cybernetic experience. In DOA 6, his daughter, Kasumi & Hayate all teamed up to kill him for good.

-Raidou's a pretty weak Ninja design in the first game, looking pretty bland- kinda like a dirty ninja (like... a ninja who is covered in dust or dirt). The Fighters Generation guy suggests that Tecmo simply can't make quality male designs. His reappearance gives him an almost insectoid shell, glowing red from beneath like he's a modern computer cabinet.
-Raidou starts out as a PL 8 ninja, as the Final Boss of the first game (when many characters are likely PL 7-8), but upgrades to PL 9 as a Cyborg.

"You'll have to hit me harder than that!"

JANN LEE
Role:
Bruce Lee Clone
First Appearance: Dead Or Alive (1995)
Total Appearances: DOA 1-6
PL 9 (102)
STRENGTH
2 STAMINA 3 AGILITY 6
FIGHTING 12 DEXTERITY 2
INTELLIGENCE 0 AWARENESS 2 PRESENCE 2

Expertise (Martial Arts) 6 (+6)
Expertise (Bouncer) 6 (+6)
Intimidation 4 (+6)
Perception 4 (+6)

Advantages:
Close Attack, Fast Grab, Improved Critical (Unarmed), Improved Defense, Improved Hold, Improved Initiative, Improved Trip, Power Attack, Prone Fighting

Powers:
"Can Still Throw Big Guys" Power-Lifting 1 (400 lbs.) [1]
"Special Moves" Strength-Damage +2 (Inaccurate -1) [1]

Offense:
Unarmed +14 (+2 Damage, DC 17)
Special Moves +12 (+4 Damage, DC 19)
Initiative +10

Defenses:
Dodge +9 (DC 19), Parry +14 (DC 24), Toughness +2, Fortitude +5, Will +6

Complications:
Motivation (Fighting The Strongest)- Jann Lee seeks to face the strongest opponents possible, not resting until he's the best.
Rivalry (Leifang, Rig)- Leifang constantly fights Jann Lee to prove she's strong enough (after he saved her from ruffians years ago), and obsessed over Rig defeating him in a past fight.

Total: Abilities: 58 / Skills: 38--19 / Advantages: 9 / Powers: 2 / Defenses: 14 (102)

-Another game series, another Bruce Lee Clone. Jann Lee joins Fei Long, Kim Dragon, Marshall & Forrest Law and any number of other clones popping up in Fighting Game history. He is a bouncer & Jeet Kune Do fighter who debuted in the very first game as yet another "tertiary male character who makes it into every game". However, he's actually a CANON VICTOR of some tournaments! Later ones, too! His initial motivation was just to "test his skill against other great fighters", but he's made a ton of friendly rivals through the series, like Leifang (who now trains to prove she herself is strong and didn't need help, since Jann once saved her from some ruffians), Ryu Hayabusa, and Hitomi. Visually, he goes from essentially wearing the iconic Kamesenin "Orange Gi" of Dragon Ball Z to appearing as a shirtless warrior in increasingly-ornate kung fu pants, at least shaking up his appearance a bit.

-Jann is an orphan who doesn't even remember what his parents looked like- he lived in poverty and wandered the streets for food, and learned to fight by watching martial arts films (that seems... questionable), specifically Bruce Lee's. He at first fought to replace feelings of loss from being an orphan, but soon fought for the sake of fighting. He defeats both Zack & Leifang repeatedly, but never wins, and keeps his same "I want to be the strongest" fighting motivations all the way until DOA 5, in which he is the canonical victor, defeating Leifang (for a fourth time), Bass & Hitomi, but yearns for a rematch against new character Rig, who defeated him in a non-tournament fight earlier. Jann, falling into depression as fighting no longer excites him, defeats Rig in DOA 6, but is annoyed that Rig doesn't seem to remember their previous encounter- Jann then beats newcomer Diego to win the tournament, but Diego rises and defeats him in an impromptu rematch- Jann Lee confesses to enjoying the experience.

-Jann fights as a strong striker with quick, powerful kicks & punches, making him a delight for newcomers. He is true to the name of Jeet Kune Do- "Way of the Intercepting Fist", in that his game is based around fast counters and being quicker than the opponent. His grapples are weak, however, losing him some points. As a canonical winner, I pushed him up to PL 8.5- it makes him a bit less "same-y" than the girls, who are often of similar size to him.

PS I'm finding it quite absurd that a game based entirely around "FAP TO THESE WOMEN!" has like 30+ chicks in it, but has literally one black-ish character, the "white woman dipped in tea" Lisa who looks identical to everyone else save in skin color. Like, where's the Latinas, Arabs, or Black girls? This wouldn't stand out so much if they didn't have 15 white girls and 15 Asians, dammit! I mean, by this point even SNK is getting in on the game with KoF's new "Black woman in dreads" waifu, following the wake of Samurai Shodown and Tekken doing the same thing (to the point where that's almost becoming a cliched "Standard New Character".

Never mind that nearly every character has identical body types!

While "Japanese dudes aren't into black women" is hardly news to me, it stands out as odd given how most of DOA's competitors have scaled that back and given at least one prominent one. Heck, Capcom gave us Elena years ago, and since pushed Laura Matsuda (Brazilian Mixed-Race)!

Yeah, but I think the fap aspect of DOA (which I try to not to think is as great as you make it out to be!) doesn't encourage diversity. Those other games legitimately wanted to expand the way the (worldwide) fighter rosters looked. So they spent the effort to do so. Tecmo can make another bikini a lot easier.

RIG (Victor Donovan Jr.)
Role:

First Appearance: Dead Or Alive 5 (2012)
Total Appearances: DOA 5-6
PL 8 (95)
STRENGTH
3 STAMINA 4 AGILITY 5
FIGHTING 9 DEXTERITY 2
INTELLIGENCE 0 AWARENESS 2 PRESENCE 2

Skills:

Athletics 8 (+11)
Close Combat (Unarmed) 4 (+13)
Expertise (Martial Arts) 6 (+6)
Expertise (Rig Worker) 10 (+10)
Intimidation 6 (+8)
Perception 2 (+4)

Advantages:
Fast Grab, Improved Critical (Unarmed), Improved Defense, Improved Hold, Improved Trip, Power Attack, Prone Fighting

Powers:
"Special Moves" Strength-Damage +2 (Inaccurate -1) [1]

Offense:
Unarmed +13 (+3 Damage, DC 18)
Special Moves +11 (+5 Damage, DC 20)
Initiative +5

Defenses:
Dodge +8 (DC 18), Parry +12 (DC 22), Toughness +4, Fortitude +6, Will +5

Complications:
Responsibility (Mind Control)- Rig is being mind-controlled by Christie and his father, Victor Donovan- activating a "Donovan Jr." personality within him that makes him ruthless and evil, willing to engage in MIST's plans.
Enemy (The Ninjas)- Rig's actions while under mind control has made enemies of Hayate, Kasumi and others. In his normal self, he is confused as to why these ninjas keep trying to kill him.
Relationship (Bass Armstrong)- The two are friends and roommates, though they occasionally get into arguments and fights.

Total: Abilities: 54 / Skills: 44--22 / Advantages: 7 / Powers: 1 / Defenses: 11 (95)

-A mysterious rig-worker literally known only as "Rig", this was the big new character for DOA 5, along with Mila. He has worked on the oil platform since a young age, and is now one of the main people there, while also mastering Taekwondo. He & Bass work at the DOATEC-owned rig, but gets into a series of fights with various DOA characters, including Jann Lee & Eliot, defeating both and thus proving his worth. Alpha-152 defeats him when he finds her lurking about the rig, however, but later it's revealed that he's working with Victor Donovan's new group, MIST. He beats Hayate when confronted, but manages to capture him, only to lose to the real Kasumi, coming to the rescue. It's revealed in the end credits that when he leapt off a platform to avoid capture, he survived, and that he is the son of Donovan himself. In DOA 6, he's living in New York with Bass, unable to settle down or get used to boredom, and joins the DOA tournament- here, Christie activates a "Donovan Jr." persona within him (revealing his ruthless persona in his debut was a result of this mind control), and he lures the ninjas out of hiding to move MIST's plans forward. So Rig is either a laid-back, fun-loving guy or a ruthless monster engaged in MIST's dark deeds.

-Rig is a strong, high-pressure fighter not recommended for beginners due to his strange stances. It's difficult to stop him once he gains momentum, but his throws are mediocre and can be punished.

Responsibility (The Ii Clan)- Naotora feels forced to fight on behalf of her clan, though she herself dislikes fighting.
Responsibility (Poor Self-Image)- Naotora finds herself to be unattractive, bulky and clumsy, because she is quite tall (5'9"- huge for a Japanese woman, especially in the samurai period) and very apologetic.

Total: Abilities: 56 / Skills: 26--13 / Advantages: 13 / Powers: 2 / Defenses: 11 (95)

-Naotora Ii is another Guest Character in the DOA series, appearing in DOA Dimensions from Koei's Samurai Warriors series (part of a run of "Warriors"-named games that are mostly about wiping out hundreds of dudes at once in giant war campaigns). Wearing skimpy, cleavage-baring armor, she fits right in with the rest of the cast. She was created by Koei to be "different" from the established SW characters, in that while most of them chose to fight, Naotora felt forced into battle. In DOA, she was dragged into our time via a time-travel portal by Victor Donovan's MIST, and she feels she must fight for her life.

-Naotora fights using blades attached to her combat boots. She uses powerful, linear attacks, and can be a bit clumsy at times- she's easy to punish. I made her PL 8, as I imagine most Warriors characters would have to be at LEAST that. Also because she's in those games, she has Takedown 2.

Complications:
Addiction (Alcohol)- Brad is frequently drunk, which makes him say rude or flirtacious things to females, most of whom are martial artists. This gets him into a lot of fights.
Motivation (Finding Genra)- Brad spent many years searching for the wine "Genra", but was disappointed by the experience.

Total: Abilities: 48 / Skills: 28--14 / Advantages: 9 / Powers: 1 / Defenses: 10 (86)

-Brad Wong is an older-looking Zui Quan-style fighter introduced in DOA 3, based on Jackie Chan's character in the Drunken Master movies. He was always on the quest for some legendary wine known as "Genra", generally acting like a drunken lout, hitting on Ayane and stuff like that. When looking for the drink, he finds the monster Genra instead. He finally finds the drink in DOA 4, but it ends up giving him a trippy, hallucinogenic experience rather than a drunken one. He's largely a drunken, comedic character, as later games just have him getting into fights and being lazy.

-Thanks to his "Drunken" style fo fighting, Brad is considered a "trick" character- one whose unorthodox style can fool opponents into leaving themselves open for odd moves. He's sort of the "Eddie Gordo" in that his style is hell on newbies, who don't know how to defend against it. He is typically unsuccessful in his canon fights, it seems, so I made him PL 7.5.

Complications:
Relationship (Kasumi- Sister)- Kasumi joins the first DOA tournament to avenge his injuries at the hands of her uncle, Raidou.
Responsibility (Mugen Tenshin Clan)- Hayate is the heir to the ninja clan, and believes deeply in its principles.
Relationship (Ryu Hayabusa)- The two are the main male characters of the DOA franchise, and good friends.
Relationship (Ayane- Half-Sister)- Despite the Ayane/Kasumi rift, Hayate cares for both his sisters. However, he is enraged when Ayane accuses Kasumi of being a traitor, slapping her for it once. Ultimately, however, they team up to defeat Genra.
Hitomi- The female karate fighter fell in love with him while he was staying with her family when he had amnesia, and carries a torch for him, but he seems unaware of it.

Total: Abilities: 64 / Skills: 56--28 / Advantages: 19 / Powers: 9 / Defenses: 13 (132)

-Hayate is the older brother of Kasumi, and was badly injured by their uncle Raidou in the first game- he makes his first playable appearance in the second, and is a major character ever since. His spine was broken and he was rendered comatose by Raidou, but it was fixe by DOATEC when they absconded with his body and worked on cloning his genetic material. However, he was still in a coma until a helicopter he was on crashed- amnesiac, he was taken in by a girl named Hitomi and her family, and went by "Ein". His memories slowly came to him in DOA 2, finally realizing that he was Hayate by the end. He & Hayabusa, his old friend, team up to defeat the Boss, Genra. In DOA 3, Genra returns, and after a lot of familial squabbling with Ayane (who thinks Kasumi abandoned the clan and betrayed them), the two ally and kill him. In later games, he just seems to be sort of one of the "Heroic Allies", forming a larger and larger group.

-Hayate is effectively the same as Kasumi but lightly more damage/toughness-shifted, being her older brother... and I ultimately dropped him a full PL lower, as despite being a major recurring character, he never nets a big one on his lonesome, and is never the canonical winner of a tournament.
