Some Thoughts on The Secong Movie

Post by SolarOracle »

Alright, finally back, so let's not waste any time, shall we? Next up, we're going over the villains from the second movie, so to keep up with what I did with the first movie, here's a quick review and synopsis of it. Like with the first movie, this one's canonicity is a hot topic, though it had way more crossover with the main series than the previous movie (which only has had the All Might flashback sequence in the beginning referenced in canon, with the recent-ish introduction of Star and Stripe as the number one American hero, who was revealed to have been the girl in the car All Might saved from the Red Villain's rocket attack, which was a REALLY cool way of bridging the manga and movies). In the second movie's case, Nine had a brief appearance in the manga, when Shigaraki was first talking to Dr. Garaki, where an image of him seen from behind with a bunch of cables connected to him appears behind Shigaraki in a collage of other scenes when he is talking about his desire to destroy everything, since the second movie takes place more or less at the same time as this, kind of solidifying it on canon more and all. There were also two special chapters of the Team Up Mission spinoff made to promote the movie, where we see Midoriya and Bakugo in middle school helping the pro hero Air Jet capture a villain who could turn to sand and was disguising himself as a puddle of mud after the weather had suddenly changed, which is revealed to have been Nine's doing.

As for the movie itself, I like it a lot, in general, way more than the first one at least. I think the first half of it, where we see the 1-A students helping the locals of Nabu Island and stuff, but the fights and action from the latter half feel a bit rushed and off and all. I'm also not really that big a fan of Nine himself as a villain, even less than Wolfram, since he doesn't really have much going for him other than a cool power. I kind of hate the two kids on this movie as well, since they are kind of annoying and all the dialogues with them feels off and weirdly patronizing, which probably comes from the movie not being written by Horikoshi, I guess. I like Mahoro's quirk tho.

As is tradition with BnHA movies, this one also has a generic name that doesn't really mean anything: My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, which I guess is in reference to the students having to deal with situation they were facing on their own, not having any assistance from the pros, having to "rise" as heroes and stuff, tho by that logic, that name would also work for the first movie. I kind of just call this one My Hero Academia: Movie 2 - The Island One... even tho the previous one also takes place on an island, now that I think about it. Huh.

The movie is centered on Nine, a villain with an incredibly powerful weather control quirk, who wishes to tear down hero society in order to create a world ruled by the strong where those with strong quirks are free to use them as they please and rise in society, like some weird super-powered feudalism, I guess, and started gathering a crew of other uber-powerful misfits to do that. However, Nine would later find out that his powerful quirk also caused his cells to slowly damage themselves, meaning that he didn't have very long to live, and made him and his group start seeking a way to revert and counter that. This lead him to All For One and his League of Villains, putting him in contact with Dr. Garaki, a long time member of All For One's inner circle and one of the world's most talented quirk scientists, who offered to give Nine experimental treatment so his body could hold more than a single quirk, so he would have the opportunity to find and acquire a cell regeneration quirk to combat his condition, also planning to give him a copy of All For One's own quirk so he could take other quirks for himself. After accepting to undergo this experiment, Nine ended up locked up inside a big sciencey tube in a secret lab for a while.

The movie opens up with part of the League of Villains, specifically Spinner, Mr. Compress and Dabi, conducting an operation to finally free Nine, now that the experiment was finally over, under Dr. Garaki's orders, before being intercepted by pro heroes trying to stop the extraction. A fight breaks out, with Compress and Dabi delaying the villains with their quirks while Spinner attempts to drive away, but they end up overpowered by Endeavor's flames, turning to mud and being revealed to have been copies created by Twice (which raises the question of how there were three of them, since Twice's quirk only allowed him to create two duplicates before he learned his Sad Man's Parade super move, but OK), and the truck falls down the cliff on the side of the road.

As the heroes examine the fallen truck, Endeavor and Hawks start to speculate what they could have been carrying, theorizing that it could have been a new type of nomu, as we see that Nine managed to escape the truck and reunites with his crew, stating that he is ready to implement their plan.

After that, we cut to class 1-A doing hero work on Nabu Island, a small island off the coast of Japan that has no pro heroes, where they have been for the last month as a mandatory preparatory program for heroes in training, mandated by the Hero Public Safety Commission (which I feel doesn't really connect with the series timeline too well, I'd guess, but don't really know for sure. IDK, just sounds kind of weird for a class of highschoolers who are licensed to assist in times of crisis and stuff to spend a whole month out of the country, I assume having to have remote classes, while the country is facing one of the biggest villain crisis it ever has), where we see them having to help the locals with the problems they are facing, like Kaminari having to to use his quirk to help a local farmer with his truck's battery, Iida taking an injured old lady to the hospital with his high speed and Koda helping to locate the missing pets of the residents, in a sequence that is really nice and showcases how the core of heroism in this universe really is centered on wanting to help others, not just beating up supervillains.

As the class continues to help the locals with their issues, they get a call from a girl asking for help locating her missing brother, to which Midoriya, Jirou and Uraraka respond to. However, as they locate the missing boy, named Shimano Katsuma, at a park, it is revealed to them that it was just a test by her sister, Shimano Mahoro, to measure their response time, as she calls them sloppy and unworthy for taking over an hour. Midoriya, however, is just relieved to know no one was actually in danger.

Later that night, we see the two siblings in a video sent to their father, who is working in Kyushu and is away from home, where they tell him how much they miss him, as he is watching it with a smile on his face while driving. His car is suddenly attacked by Nine's crew, as Nine approaches the man. We learn that recently Nine has been attacking Japanese heroes with quirks he sees as useful and stealing their quirks for himself after defeating them, arming himself with many powerful abilities. As he uses one of the quirks he recently stole, Scanning, to see what the man's quirk is, Nine says that the man's Cell Activation quirk is exactly what he needs to counter his celular degeneration, and uses his copy of All For One to steal the quirk as him and his teammates celebrate, finally ready to overtake the world and topple down hero society. However, as Nine feels a deep chest pain, he realizes that Cell Activation only seems to work on those with blood type A, unlike himself. As the group laments their wasted effort, they notice the video on the man's phone, seeing his kids, and realize that one of them may have a version of the quirk that would work on Nine.

Back on Nabu Island, Midoriya and Bakugo run into Katsuma outside their agency, who warns the pair about a villain attacking the ancient castle ruins on the island, as the two heroes follow the kid to the direction of the villain. Arriving at the ruins, they see a giant mantis-like monster. As Bakugo attacks it, ready for a fight, he quickly stops, noticing that the monster doesn't seem to produce a shadow even after being hit by the light of his explosion, deducing that the creature is illusory. He creates a huge explosion, scaring away Mahoro, who was hiding and using her quirk, Hologram, to create the monster. Bakugo, pissed off as all hell, starts screaming at and scolding the two siblings, before Midoriya intervenes to restrain him, giving the pair a chance to escape. After getting some distance from the heroes, Mahoro rants about how Bakugo seems more like a villain than a hero, and how Midoriya seems incompetent, talking about how she thinks pro-heroes are all too self-aggrandizing and not worthy of being considered heroes, but her brother interjects, saying that the two wanted to help someone they thought was in need and that was enough for them to be called heroes.

The next morning, Midoriya runs into Katsuma outside again, who shyly apologizes for what happened the previous night, explaining that his sister wanted to prove that the heroes wouldn't come to help. The two bond over their mutual love for pro heroes, as Midoriya notices an Edgeshot pin on Katsuma's bag. The kid ends up telling Midoriya about how he wants to be a hero one day, but thinks he won't be able to due to how his quirk isn't useful for fights, having a Cell Activation quirk like his dad. Midoriya ends up deducting that Mahoro's dislike for heroes must come from her concern for her little brother, thinking that hero work is too dangerous. Seeing a bit of himself on the kid, Midoriya tells Katsuma that he will absolutely be able to be a great hero one day if he is willing to put in the effort.

Later that day, Nine and his team arrive at the island's harbor, with Slice using her quirk to shoot sharp strands of her hair at the nearby boats and destroy them, as Nine tells the rest of the crew to create a distraction while he tries to locate the kids, with Chimera destroying the local phone tower so contacting pro heroes on the outside, and Mummy using his quirk to animate local objects and spread havoc on the urban area of the island, forcing the 1-A students to intervene and try to stop the villains.

We see Aoyama, Hagakure and Mineta near the region Mummy is attacking, trying to fight him off, but having trouble bypassing all the objects he has animated to block their path, as Hagakure attempts to call their agency to discover that they have been cut off. The three end up having to fight Mummy and his army of puppets on their own, leading to them being exhausted and about to be defeated, before being rescued by Bakugo, Kaminari and Kirishima, as Yaoyorozu, Ashido and Jirou arrive to evacuate the area and help the tired students escape. As Bakugo's squad starts to destroy Mummy's army, Bakugo eventually ends up being captured by the villain's bandages, turned into a puppet himself as the villain controls his costume, but Bakugo manages to escape by detonating one of his bracers, quickly flying towards Mummy and using his remaining bracer to unleash a full power explosion point-blank at the villain, incapacitating him.

Meanwhile, at the beach, Tokoyami and Ojiro struggle to hold Chimera off while Shoji and Asui evacuate the place. After noticing how futile their attacks against the villain are, the group decides to base to inform the rest of class A about what is happening and get backup. After hearing from Tokoyami about the villains, Iida quickly separates the claa on their groups, each with a specific role, to defeat the team of villains, as the class quickly separates to do each of their designated functions. Returning to the beach, Ojiro. Todoroki, Tokoyami, Iida, Sero and Sato all try to take Chimera down, but the villain is able to take down both Ojiro and Sato easily, proving to be way to strong for the class to be able to deal with, being forced to retreat.

As the villain attack continues, Katsuma and Mahoro try to return home for safety, but end up seeing their house destroyed by Nine, who had arrived earlier. As the villain uses his Scanning, he is able to see that Katsuma has the Cell Activation quirk he needs, and slowly approaches the siblings, ready to steal it. However, Midoriya arrives at the scene, creating an opening and telling the kids to run away. Midoriya tries to fight Nine off, but ends up being blocked by his Air Wall quirk, which he uses as a shield. After scanning Midoriya, Nine says he has an interesting quirk, and tires to steal it for himself, but ends up failing, as he realizes the boy has more than just one quirk and he doesn't have room for all of his powers, deciding to simply defeat him.

As Midoriya gets more and more beaten from the fight, Mahoro and Katsuma worry about him, but he continues insisting they run. Desperate, Mahoro ends up using her Hologram quirk to create a giganting cartoony image of Midoriya as she cries, which manages to get the attention of Bakugo who arrives at the scene right after defeating Mummy. However, Nine reveals another of his quirks, creating a hydra from his back to hold Bakugo down, but creates an opportunity for Midoriya to attack him back, having to use his Weather Manipulation to summon a bolt of lightning and severely wound the two heroes and causing a massive blackout on the whole island. Nine prepares to get hold of Katsuma, but ends up being affected by his cell degener5ation, falling to the floor and grunting in pain as Slice arrives to help him, as he orders her to get to the children, but ends up unable to due to a big wall of birds brought to the scene by Koda with his quirk, as the rest of 1-A arrive there and rescue both their classmates and the kids, with the both groups of villains and heroes alike being forced to retreat for a while to recover from their wounds.

As the hero students gather all residents of the Island on an abandoned factory for protection, Midoriya and Bakugo, still incapacitated, are getting medical assistance from locals with healing quirks, as the rest of the heroes assist on making sure they have enough resources and provisions for everyone there and organizing and calming down all the locals. Midoriya and Bakugo's treatment isn't going very well due to the quirks there only really being able to cure their external wounds, and them seeming to need help from an actual hospital. However, Katsuma and Mahoro arrive, with Katsuma insisting to use his quirk to attempt to treat them, which ends up succeeding, as the wounded heroes now only need to rest a bit before being in fighting condition again.

On another room, the rest of class A is converging to figure out a plan of action, Yaoyorozu having already created a drone to send to the mainland and ask for help, but it will only arrive in six hours, and that questioning the captured Mummy didn't get them any useful information. As the class is starting their discussion, Katsuma enters the room, announcing that the villain wants his quirk, and that the best plan of action not to risk the lives of the locals would be for him to simply peacefully surrender to Nine and allow his quirk to be stolen. However, as the kid is suggesting this, Midoriya and Bakugo arrive at the room, advising against that idea, since that would only empower Nine even further and make him near unstoppable, and saying that the only possible course of action would be to defeat the villains, to which the whole class agrees and starts to devise their strategy to separate and defeat the villains one by one.

The following day, as the villains approach the ruins, where the heroes have prepared their last stand, Aoyama initiates their defense by blasting Nine's crew with his Supernova super move, which, assisted by Yaoyorozu attacking with canons she created, succeeds in breaking the group up, with Slice falling underground into a hole that leads into a cavern, where she is confronted by Ashido and Tokoyami, and Chimera ends up falling off a waterfall, landing on a valley where Iida, Todoroki, Kirishima and Asui await him.

As Nine continues approaching the ruins, the heroes start their plan to immobilize him, using Mineta, Sero and Uraraka's quirks to pile lots of rubbe on top of him to immobilize him, but end up failing as the hero knocks them, Yaoyorozu and Aoyama out. Midoriya and Bakugo then approach the villain, prepared for a rematch, but end up still being overpowered by him like before, using his Hydras to immobilize and wound the pair, but, as he is readying himself to finish them, his cell degeneration starts affecting him like before, forcing him to kneel down and deactivate his quirks as he grunts in pain, giving the heroes an opportunity to attack him, however, as they are about to do so, Nine uses his support item to lessen the effects of his degeneration, enabling him to summon a bolt of lightning like before, presumably incapacitating the pair.

Meanwhile, Slice is fighting off Tokoyami and Ashido, more than able to keep up with them, laughing as they attempt to take her down. However, eventually, Ashido is able to use her quirk to melt Slice's hair, making her unable to use it for melee attacks and setting Tokoyami up for a final strike, but now majorly pissed off, Slice sends a barrage of strands of her now short hair towards them both, which ends up hitting and harming Ashido. Surprised by his friend being hurt, Tokoyami loses control, allowing Dark Shadow to become much more powerful than before due to the darkness of the cave, easily overpowering Slice and defeating the villain.

At the valley, the heroes try to take Chimera down, but his brute strength still proves too much for them, even able to survive being frozen under the waters of the local river by Todoroki. As the battle continues and more attacks are unleashed by Iida and Kirishima, Chimera notices that he feels sluggish and weaker, as the group reveals that they have coated their clothing with Asui's poisonous mucus, which allowed them to somewhat weaken the villain. This enrages the villain, as he activates his quirk to further empower him even more, becoming a huge monstrous beast, with his animal traits and muscles augmented even more than before, blasting them with a huge beam of fire that destroys the surrounding forest. The heroes, as a final plan to take Chimera down, Iida uses his great speed to distract Chimera while the rest of the group approaches him, with Kirishima using his Unbreakable super move to block the beams of fire when the villain finally takes notice of them, and Asui and Iida quickly try to hold him down while Todoroki take him down by powering up his cold side more than ever and freezing him.

Back at the ruins, Nine is easily overpowering the rest of class 1-A with his many quirks, finally catching up to Mahoro and Katsuma, taking the girl hostage and demanding that Katsuma surrenders himself or he will kill her. As the boys starts approaching Nine to surrender his quirk, Midoriya intercepts Nine with a kick, revealing that the lightning from before had been blocked by Kaminari, who had absorbed the electricity. Now desperate, Nine goes all out with his quirks, fully aware that he is accelerating his degeneration, summoning a powerful hurricane around himself that carries the flames from his surroundings, turning into a fire tornado, as Midoriya and Bakugo get ready to fight him for the final time.

Throwing caution to the wind, Midoriya goes all out with his quirk, severely damaging his arms with each attack, as Bakugo delivers powerful explosions on the villain, but that ends up proving useless, as he block them with his Air Wall and immobilizes the pair with his Hydras. Desperate, Midoriya decides that the only way they have to overpower the villain would be to transfer One For All to Bakugo, and does so, allowing them to deliver devastating attacks that finally take down the villain, who falls onto the ocean and disappears, and Midoriya tanks One For All for everything, as he readies himself to lose the quirk that had done so much for him.

Later, as the skies clear out, All Might arrives at the scene, after Yaoyorozu's drone succeeded in warning the pro heroes on the mainland, and sees the two boys fallen on the ground heavily wounded, and approaches them to check on them. As Midoriya wakes up, he tells All Might about what happened, with tears in his face, apologizing for having had to give up on One For All after all they had gone through, which shocks All Might as he congratulates Midoriya on his dedication to being a hero, but then calms him down, as he notices that One For All is still inside Midoriya, claiming that the quirk had allowed for a miracle to happen due to Midoriya's desire to save the island, as Midoriya cries, relieved to still have a chance to be a hero.

As we see the rest of the 1-A students being rescued by the arriving pro heroes and the knocked out villains being captured, we see Nine on a nearby island surrounded by flowers, wounded and barely conscious after the fight. As Shigaraki teleports to the island through Johnny's Warping quirk, Nine says he needs more time to achieve his dream and collapse society, but Shigaraki tells him that he will topple over society himself soon enough, and that Nine doesn't need to worry, before killing him with his Decay quirk and leaves.

A few days later, after helping the people of Nabu Island to rebuild and restore everything that had been destroyed, class 1-A finally gets on the boat to leave the island, ad Midoriya talks to Bakugo about the final fight, but Bakugo claims to not remember having used One For All. As the boat is starting to leave, Mahoro and Katsuma run towards it, waving goodbye and thanking the heroes for all they have done. Midoriya smiles and tells Katsuma to not give up on his dream of being a hero, and that he will be waiting for him at U.A., as the boy tearfully agrees and the movie ends.

So, fun fact, the way the fight against Nine ended, with Midoriya giving his quirk to Bakugo, was originally intended as the way the final fight on the series was gonna go, but Horikoshi gave up on it as the series developed more.

All in all, this movie is pretty good, with way more memorable villains than the first one and a more interesting plot. Sadly tho, the writing for it just feels kind of off most of the time, with dialogue feeling weird and just slightly out of character most of the time, which is pretty sad, because otherwise, this could have been a near-perfect movie. I kind of remember liking this movie more than I did rewatching it before doing the villain builds.

Still, I'd say this movie is still worth watching if you get the chance. The animation, especially on the fight scenes, is fucking amazing, and the plot is overall pretty good. Nine can be a bit of a boring villain, but he at least feels very different from other villains the series has had so far, with his interesting worldview and plans, and with how menacing he feels due to how powerful his combine usage of quirks is, and his crew is also pretty cool, both in design and in concept and powers.

So yea, not really a must watch, but still a very nice treat. I think I like the third movie more than this one, but I'll have to rewatch it sometime before deciding that concretely.

Of the three, I think this one is my favorite of the MHA movies. While the first one has the epic moment of All-Might and Midoriya working together and the third one had some decent emotional scenes, this one overall felt like a solid self-contained superhero adventure. And I agree, one of my favorite moments is just seeing Class 1A doing non-crime fighting hero work. It's a nice reminder that while fighting superheroes is the action packed/fun part of being a superhero, that there's more to the job than that. People make fun of Superman for rescuing kittens out of trees, but to me there's a reason why the Incredibles included a scene of Mr. Incredible doing just that: it's a classic example that for a real hero, no job is too small, because the job is "helping people".

The fight scenes as well felt very inventive and creative. In terms of action it felt like the best X-Men-ish style action set pieces we're ever likely to see. A lot of fun team work, people with single powers achieving a great deal via team work, actual tactics and strategy being used, etc. I do wish that after all the planning and team work the solution in the end wouldn't just be "overwhelm the last bad guy", but the emotional pay off and sacrifice to get said overwhelming power is still something to see. Deku being willing to give up his power, no hesitation at all, just makes me love the character more. And the emotions that run through Bakugo's face when he realizes just what Midoriya is asking him to do shows just how much you can convey in animation. It's up there for me with Omni-Man's face during the "You, dad. I'd still have you." scene.

Like I said, overall it's probably my favorite MHA film. This just feels like a solid self-contained story with villains that made for fun antagonists, and we got to see Class 1A helping people in ways that involved no punching at all.

Nine's Crew

Post by SolarOracle »

Image

The antagonists of the second movie, Nine's crew is composed of him and three other villains who, despite possessing very powerful quirks, had to live on the edges of society due to the legislation around quirk usage. They all seem to firmly follow Nine's ideology, of power and strength being the supreme determining factor in one's position in society, and that those who possess strong quirks should be the one's controlling society.

I really like these guys in general. They don't really have much to their character and personalities or anything, but they all make up for it with their interesting powers and aesthetic and stuff. Nine himself is probably the only one of these guys I don't really like.

The group is lead by Nine, a powerful man with a very strong weather manipulation quirk who underwent experimentation by Dr. Garaki to be able to have multiple quirks, but who suffers from a degenerative disease that gets worse whenever he uses too much power. The other members of the group are Slice, a red haired woman who is able to manipulate her own hair, turning it into blades and needles to deliver extremely powerful attacks, Mummy, a white haired bandaged man who is able to control his bandages and any non-living thing that get's wrapped by them, and Chimera, a muscular blue wolf-man whose quirk gives him the characteristics of various animals (including breathing fire, somehow).

I've heard that Slice might be a homage to Marvel Comic's Medusa, given her ability to control red hair, her purple costume and her being associated with a powerful, stoic, mostly quiet tall man in black and silver.

In fact, the group themselves might be a nod to the InHumans. A small group of outcasts living outside society, with powerful, monstrous abilities, etc.

Huh, the Medusa comparison was one I was kinda familiar with, but never thought about the parallels between Nine's gang and the InHumans. Pretty interesting.

Motivation: A World Ruled by the Strong: Nine believes that strength and power should be the sole factor in determining the hierarchy of the world, detesting society due to seeing it as the weak ruling the strong. He wishes to use his immense power to topple over governments and authorities in order to create a world that matches his ideology better.

Motivation: Survival: In order to make his dream come true, Nine wants to survive no matter what, and is willing to hurt, kill and steal quirks from others to do so. He will stop at nothing to be able to acquire Shimano Katsuma’s quirk to be able to cure himself.

Nine Quirk Limit: Despite having a copy of the One For All quirk, Nine’s body is not able to freely harbor stolen quirks like All for One’s, and had to go through extensive experimentation and modification to be able to house up to nine quirks, making him have to be very selective about what quirks he steals or not.

Degenerative Quirk: Nine has a degenerative disease that comes from his quirk factor and that is slowly killing him. That, combined with the experimentation he went through by Dr. Garaki to make his body able to house All For One and up to a total of 9 quirks puts a heavy strain on his body, especially when using his abilities. Every round, Nine must pass a DC 10 Fortitude check, with the DC increasing slowly, as the DM sees appropriate, the more he uses his quirks, or become Immobile, Stunned, Disabled and Vulnerable until he succeeds on a Fortitude check. His support item allows him to automatically succeed on this Fortitude save once per fight and resets the DC back to 10.

40 Abilities, 252.5 Powers, 17 Advantages, 18 Skills, 20 Defenses = 347.5 Character Points

About: The main antagonist of the second movie, Nine is a quiet, calculated and cold individual who thinks society should be ruled by those with powerful quirks instead of having regulation around quirk usage. He suffers from a cellular degenerative disease that progresses the more he uses his quirks, and desires to get a cellular activation quirk to be able to halt this disease and continue his plans of collapsing hero society, having gotten the ability to hold up to nine quirks from Dr. Garaki of the League of Villains and a copy of All For One's quirk so he could get a quirk like that. Nine's original quirk, Weather Manipulation, allowed him to control the weather to create rainfall, heavy winds and powerful lightning strikes, mostly using it in combat by striking his enemies with lightning and using wind to trip them.

Additionally, he also has a copy of All For One, which allows him to steal other quirks, tho his body can only store up to nine quirks, a quirk I took the liberty of naming Air Wall, which allows him to create circular shields of solidified air in front of him to block incoming attacks, a quirk I too the liberty of naming Finger Lasers, which allows him to shoot powerful energy beams from his fingernails that can bend in midair and cause significant damage on his enemies, a quirk I took the liberty of naming Scanning, which allows him to discern the quirk of people he looks at, a quirk I took the liberty of naming Hydras, which allows him to summon blue dragon-like creatures attached to his back that he can use to bite and immobilize others or to hold onto objects to pull himself to places, and, lastly, Cell Activation, which allows him to "activate" cells in order to regenerate and heal others, but, sadly for him, who has type B blood, only works on people of type A blood, meaning he can't use it to stop his degenerative disease.

Possibly due to having an extremely powerful quirk, since a young age, Nine was bothered by the way authority worked, thinking that quirk usage being legislated made no sense and seeing people without powerful quirks in power as something that went against the natural order, believing that those with power should be in control of society, and that the "weak" forbidding them from doing so with laws was something unfair and repugnant that needed to be reverted.

However, at some point, Nine discovered his disease, which caused his cells to degenerate the move he used his quirk, making it impossible for him to implement his plan. So instead, Nine went around finding people with powerful quirks who were being oppressed by society and invited them to join him in his fight, assembling a crew of four with Mummy, Slice and Chimera, who kept on the move trying to find a way to reverse Nine's disease.

Eventually, Nine was approached by Dr. Garaki, a known associate of All For One, who was interested in conducting an experimental operation to modify Nine's body to be able to hold on to multiple quirks and give him a copy of All For One's quirk, which Garaki was most likely experimenting with to be able to do the same with Shigaraki later on. Nine accepted this proposal, since that would allow him to get a regeneration quirk to stop his degenerative cells. After the conclusion of the experiment, Nine was transported back by the League of Villains to meet up with his crew, and despite their transport truck being attacked by pro heroes, Nine managed to escape them and meet up with Slice, Mummy and Chimera, now able to start his plan, leading to the plot of the second movie.

Nine and his crew started hunting down pro heroes with useful quirks, getting his Air Wall, Laser Fingers, Scanning and Hydras quirk from them, in order to become even more powerful. Eventually, he was able to find out about Mr. Shimano, a man with a Cell Activation quirk that would allow him to stop his degeneration, and ambushed him by attacking his car and stealing his quirk. This, however, failed to cure Nine's condition, as he discovered Shimano's quirk only works on people with type A blood, deciding then to hunt down Shimano's children on Nabu Island in case one of them has a different version of the quirk. How they figured out the kids live on Nabu is anyone's guess.

Nine's crew then proceeds to hijack a ship going to Nabu Island, and upon arrival, Nine asks his group to cause as much chaos as possible so he can more easily track down Shimano's children, having Slice attack the other ships with her quirk, Chimera destroy the island's communications tower, and Mummy attack the commercial district. Nine himself goes to Shimano's house, and upon finding it empty, destroys it. Leaving the house, he finds the Shimano kids terrified, as they were making their way back home to hide, and he slowly starts approaching them, using his Scnaning quirk to discern that the younger brother, Katsuma, has a cell activation quirk that would work on him. As Nine starts trying to steal Katsuma's quirk, Midoriya appears to attack Nine, telling the kids to make their escape.

Due to his immense power, Nine easily keeps up with Midoriya, and after scanning him, determines that Midoriya has a powerful quirk that is worth stealing, and tries to do so after grabbing hold of the hero, but is unable to steal One For All due to it containing multiple quirks, as it would go over his nine quirk limit, deciding to instead just kill him.

As the fight goes on, Nine completely overwhelms Midoriya, using his multiple quirks in combination to respond to Midoriya's attacks in ways the boy can't react to properly, greatly injuring him with his lasers. Running into the Shimano siblings again, Nine stops fighting a now immobilized Midoriya to try to steal Katsuma's quirk, but the boy is saved again by the sudden arrival of a 1-A student, this time, Bakugo, who arrives after his fight with Mummy to assist Midoriya on the fight.

However, Nine immediately summons a bolt of lighting, incapacitating both Midoriya and Bakugo, surprising the hero students with the immense power Nine can wield, but this also causes Nine's disease to progress, causing him so much pain, he is paralyzed and forced to crouch down, grunting in pain. Slice arrives, worried about Nine's condition, but the villain tells her to grab hold of Katsuma as soon as possible. She tries to do so, but is unable to due to a huge group of birds Koda called over with his quirk, allowing the kids and heroes to be rescued by the remaining 1-A students.

Being affected by his disease, Nine's crew is forced to retreat so he can rest up and recover, with Slice shooting up a flare to call Chimera over. As the group rests, they note how Mummy didn't return, probably meaning that he was captured, and also comment on how the heroes have sheltered all the civilians, including the Shimanos, on the island's ruins, and decide to make their way there to take on the 1-A students.

Prepared for the villains, the 1-A student set up an ambush as they start approaching, as Aoyama and Yaoyorozu use their quirks to attack all three villains from afar. Though the attack seems to have failed, as the villains manage to dodge and deflect all incoming attacks, they end up falling for the students' trap, as they end up separated, each being forced to fight a different group of hero students to hold them off while Nine has to continue his frontline assault on his own.

This, however, doesn't seem to concern Nine at all, as he is able to easily overcome and block all the traps and attacks from the 1-A students, defeating them one by one as he makes his way towards the entrance of the ruins, but ends up having his disease acting up again due to him overusing his quirks, as he reaches the top of the ruins with Midoriya and Bakugo waiting for him. As he uses his suit's life support drug to stabilize his condition momentarily, Nine, now extremely pissed off, immediately attacks Midoriya and Bakugo with a bolt of lightning again, which seems to work in taking them down, as Nine finally starts making his way towards Katsuma.

With his disease still causing him great pain, Nine uses Mahoro Shimano as a hostage, telling Katsuma to surrender or he will kill her, causing the younger brother to charge towards the villain, yelling that Nine should let his sister go, as Nine immediately reaches towards Katsuma, finally victorious and prepared to steal his quirk, but is intercepted by Midoriya and Bakugo yet again, who survived the lightning by having Kaminari absorb the attack with his quirk.

Panicked and in great pain, Nine goes all out, summoning an immense fire tornado around himself and lightning storms around the island, ready to finally take the pair of heroes down. Despite them trying to fight him off, Nine proves to powerful, and Midoriya and Bakugo are easily taken down and held down by Nine's Hydras. Needing a last resort, Midoriya gives Bakugo his One For All quirk, allowing the pair to go all out and finally overcome Nine, defeating the villain as he falls on the sea.

Nine eventually arrives at a nearby small island covered in flowers, where he find Shigaraki Tomura waiting for him. Nine pleads that he needs more time and another chance to be able to topple society once and for all, but Shigaraki simply replies that Nine doesn't need to worry, since he will do that himself, and proceeds to kill Nine with his Decay quirk.

As I mentioned on my movie synopsis and my team summary, I really don't like Nine. His quirks are all cool, he feels menacing with how many powerful abilities he has, and his worldview is pretty interesting, but he is just so bland and boring as a character. The rest of his team are just much, much more interesting, both visually and in personality. I also think it would have been more interesting to go a different direction with his character, since he is motivated by the fact that he is slowly dying, and it could have been cool to have him be a somewhat likeable character or reluctant villain who was doing what he was doing out of necessity or whatever instead of doing them as a full on kuudere psycho like they did, but who knows, I( guess.

All that said, I like his villain name being Nine, since it not only references the quirk limit on his body, but also as a reference to his weather powers, due to "cloud nine" being an expression and stuff. I thought that was clever when I realized that, tho I have no clue if it was intentional or not.

I kind of realized after rewatching the movie that Nine could easily have joined up with the Meta Liberation Army, since their goals line up a lot and stuff, that could be an interesting concept. Shame he died, I guess. I also think the way he used All For One is kind of dumb, since he just uses it to take quirks for himself. He could have given the rest of his crew copies of his powerful quirks temporarily, since we know non-modified people are able to temporarily use various quirks without it causing them great damage, like we see with Lady Nagant and other AFO associates. He also could probably have depowered Bakugo, since he, like Midoriya, also has a very powerful quirk and Nine had that opportunity. Oh well.

For his build, like I mentioned, he only seems to use all For One to take powers for himself, so I only built that part of the quirk for him. I kind of wanted a separate entry for each of his quirks, and I managed to do that for all of them, except for his Laser Fingers, which I ended up putting on the array. Nine is a HUGE threat, ending up at PL 13, able to take down Midoriya AND Bakugo simultaneously without much effort. It's kind of unclear if his nine quirks limit is including All For One or not, so I'd leave that to the discertion of whoever is running him. Oh, also, I decided to include the type A Cell Activation quirk on his list of powers because I thought that would be funny, heh.

Outfits: Nine constantly wears a large black bodysuit with shiny purple lines, which he needs to administer a stabilizing drug whenever his disease starts acting up. This suit also includes a mask and headpiece. Over the bodysuit, he sometimes wears a purple suit with an open blazer and a brown belt.

Oh yeah, here's a fun game:

These are all the pro heroes Nine stole each of his four additional quirks from (those being Finger Lasers, Scanning, Air Wall and Hydra):

ImageImageImageImage

Which of the quirks do you think each one had? Personally, I'd guess that the robot hero had Finger Lasers, because it seems fitting for a robot; the hero with the pilot mask had Scanning, since a sensory/support quirk like that seems to fit his design, not sure why; the ninja hero had Hydra, because it seems to fit his aesthetic; and the metal jaw hero guy had air wall because he seems like someone who would have a defensive ability or something.

That’s a really slick Nine build, good job!
Though I agree that he wasn’t terribly interesting, and his crew were much cooler. I also agree that he could have had some interesting interaction with the Meta Liberation Army, even if they didn’t end up working together. Instead though, he was simply…I guess a test? Or a dry run? To see how transferring All For One to Shigaraki would go?

And Ares, I never thought of him and his crew as a homage to the Inhumans, but that does make a lot of sense, and I feel like I should have caught it sooner, haha

But I’m looking forward to Slice, Mummy, and especially Chimera!

It's not an exact parallel, but I can see where Nine has some similarities to Black Bolt (tall, mostly quiet guys all in black with a wide range of powers), while Chimera COULD be seen as a nod to Gorgon, both being named after mythical creatures, being 'the heavy' of their teams and having weird features, up to and including reverse joint legs at one point. Mummy kind of throws that off, as there aren't any good parallels unless you view him as a nod to Maximus, the telepath who can control people, with Mummy controlling people and objects.

They don't work in a purely "Hyperion is Marvel Superman" sort of way, but I could see them being nods to the InHumans in the way All For One has some nods to Darth Vader and the like.

Complications

Motivation: Nine’s Dream: Hasaki is a devout follower of Nine and strongly agrees with his ideology, willing to risk herself for the sake of her team, and often being worried about Nine’s condition when his disease progresses too much.

Hair-based Fighting Style: Slice incorporates her quirk in her fighting style, using it to parry and block incoming attacks. Due to this, if she is somehow unable to use her quirk, such as because of an enemy destroying her hair, she takes a -2 penalty on her active defenses.

36 Abilities, 26 Powers, 10 Advantages, 15 Skills, 23 Defenses = 100 Character Points

About: One of the members of Nine's crew, Slice is a very agile combatant with a generally taunting and calm personality, but who is also prone to getting annoyed. Her quirk, Slice, allows her to control her hair at will, as well as harden and sharpen it, allowing her to use it as blades to attack others and parry incoming attacks, which, when combined with her agile fighting style makes her very dangerous, and also allows her to shoot it as a barrage of needles that is powerful enough to sink ships.

Hasaki always had problems fitting in with society, due to her powerful quirk, and ended up having major trust issues after being "betrayed by someone" (the wiki is really vague about it, and the bonus chapter where we see the backstory of Nine's Crew only really depicts it as she being crouched down in a destroyed room, so make of that what you will). Eventually, she met up with Nine and the rest of the crew, who were sympathetic to her past, and she ended up joining them, adopting the ideology of tearing down society to implement a system where those with strong abilities stay in power instead of being subjugated to regulation.

As Nine underwent treatment to get All For One's quirk, in an attempt to find a way of him curing his disease, Slice and the rest of the group initially objected, concerned for Nine, but their leader calmed them down by saying it was the only way for their dream to come true, to which the group reluctantly agreed with.

After the experiment was completed and Nine was transported back by the League of Villains, Slice and her teammates help him in tracking down heroes with useful quirks and taking them down so Nine could steal their quirks. Eventually, they finally turn their focus on finding a quirk to stop Nine's cells from deteriorating, leading them to Mr. Shimano, who has a Cell Activation quirk. They successfully ambush the man and steal his quirk, but end up finding out that it only works on people with blood type A, deciding to instead track down the man's children on Nabu Island in case one of them has a version of the quirk that works on Nine.

Arriving on Nabu, Nine tells his group to spread chaos as a distraction while he tracks down the kids, leading Slice to use her quirk to destroy all ships on the island's port, preventing potential escape. As the situation continues to develop and the rest of the group continue to fight the UA students who were staying at the island, Slice runs into Nine again, who had failed to get the quirk he needed and was suffering from cellular degeneration after fighting Midoriya and Bakugo, as he tells her to capture Katsuma, the child with Cell Activation, but Slice fails to do so due to Koda summoning a swarm of birds to block her path, forcing their group to retreat, as Slice shoots a flare to the skies to summon Chimera and Mummy back.

The group takes refuge on an abandoned shack so Nine can rest, but they notice that Mummy still hasn't returned, meaning that he was probably captured by the heroes. The group talks about how the heroes are stationed on the old ruins of the island, and how they are also sheltering the civilians, including Katsuma, in there, and prepare for an assault the following day.

As the trio approaches the ruins, Aoyama and Yaoyorozu deliver powerful ranged attack to disperse the group, causing Slice to fall into an underground cave, where she finds Tokoyami and Ashido awaiting her, but the pair quickly finds themselves overwhelmed due to Slice's great agility and striking power, keeping Tokoyami's Dark Shadow at a range with her attacks and dodging Ashido's ranged attacks. Eventually, however, Dark Shadow is able to open her guard, allowing Ashido to land an Acid Shot on Slice's hair, partially melting it away and making it so she couldn't use it for melee combat, with the villain becoming extremely angry and shooting a barrage of hair needles on Ashido, hurting her leg considerably.

Angered for his friend being harmed, Tokoyami ends up losing control of Dark Shadow, who, due to the darkness of the cave, is extremely powered up, and proceeds to overwhelm the villain with its furious strikes, with Slice partially collapsing the cave with her hair needles before going down, knocking out the pari together with her. However, they seem to not have been severely harmed, as they proceed to be rescued by the pro heroes who arrive at the island later, and Slice is taken in by the police.

I really like Slice, with how menacing her quirk is and how interesting her design is. Like Ares mentioned before, there are some pretty obvious parallels between her and Medusa of the Inhumans, both being redheads with hair manipulation powers, though I like how Slice uses her hair more as a slicing weapon with long range and stuff, instead of binding other like we usually see with Medusa. I also think it's kinda neat how she uses bladed weapons in conjunction with her hair when fighting, as it makes her more acrobatic and mobile and stuff.

For the build, I had her bladed gloves and boots be a small boost to her hair attacks, since she uses them in conjunction with those, though I guess it wouldn't make sense for them to benefit from Reach. Still, felt like a neat way of doing it. Her hair needles are VERY powerful, at 7 damage, since we see she using them to destroy a bunch of ships and stuff, and is her only PL 9 attack, with her melee stuff, which she seems to prefer, being PL 8. I also though it was a good idea to make her losing Parry and Dodge when her hair is destroyed as a complication instead of as an effect of her power, since it keeps the sheet cleaner and I think it would be fair to give her a Victory Point if that were to happen. Otherwise, this is a pretty straightforward build.

Outfits: Slice's villain costume is a violet shirt with frilly cuffs with a purple dress over it, a pair of maroon gloves, a thigh high pair of dark purple socks and a pair black boots with stylized red bands around her knees. She also wears a black choker around her neck as well as a pearl necklace. On her face, she wears a simple black domino mask and wear three sets of belts around her torso.

Complications

Motivation: Loyalty: Kon spent most of his life being persecuted because of his quirk, seen as a monster by those around him, and yet unable to fight back due to the structure of society, despite seeing himself as stronger than those around him. Kon firmly believes in Nine’s dream and the world he wants to create, and will do all he can to help him and the rest of the group achieve that.

Not Even My Final Form!: Chimera has access to a power up in the form of his Monster Form technique. He seems to have some kind of limitation on the usage of this, since he doesn’t use this enhanced state normally in fights, though what that limitation is isn’t made clear. As such, it is up to the DM’s discretion the limitation on this power’s usage and if it has any form of setbacks associated with it or not.

36 Abilities, 98 Powers, 13 Advantages, 16 Skills, 19 Defenses = 170 Character Points

About: The strongest member of the group aside from Nine himself, Chimera is an extremely serious and reserved person, who serves as the muscle of his crew. His quirk, Chimera, grants him features of various animals, giving him the appearance of a large wolf- creature with talons and a lizard's tail. Aside from this boosting his physical abilities, it also allows him to breathe fire, as well as amplify even further these animal features to further strengthen himself.

Like the rest of Nine's crew, Chimera grew up as an outcast on society, being discriminated against due to his monstrous appearance and eventually turning into a villain due to his resentment and hatred of society. One day, he met Nine who had saved him from the local authorities who were trying to arrest him, who explained to Chimera that he believed someone with a strong quirk like him should rule over society instead of being subject to the laws of those weaker than him, and asked the man to join his group to make a world like that a reality, an invitation Chimera accepted.

However, despite their great power, Nine's illness was holding the group back due to his limited time and him becoming closer to death the more he used his quirk, leading him to seek experimental treatment through Dr. Garaki, who planned on giving the man a copy of All For One's quirk and alter his body to be able to hold up to nine quirks at once. Chimera, like the rest of the crew, initially objected to this, but Nine still went through the experiment, saying it was the only options to bring the group's dream to reality, meeting up with them again once the experiment was completed successfully.

Chimera then helped Nine track down heroes with useful and powerful quirks to empower his leader even more. After that, they tracked down Mr. Shimano, a man with a Cell Activation quirk, and attacked his car in an ambush so Nine could acquire his quirk and cure his condition. However, unfortunately for the group, the quirk only affected those of blood type A, meaning it was useless on Nine, fo0rcing the group then to try to track down Shimano's children on Nabu Island in hopes one of them had a similar quirk that would work.

Upon arriving at the island, Chimera was tasked with destroying the local communications tower so the locals couldn't call for help, and after doing so, he proceeded to terrorize the people at the beach to create a distraction for Nine, who was trying to track down the kids. As Chimera is doing so, he is confronted by Tokoyami, Ojiro and Shoji, who try to stop him, but quickly find out they are no match for the villain, who easily overwhelms and mocks them, despite the hores' numeric advantage and the three being some of class 1-A's best hand-to-hand fighters, forcing Tokoyami to retreat and ask for help while Ojiro and Shoji continued to distract him.

Eventually, as Shoji and Ojiro are getting too tired to continue fighting, Tokoyami returns with backup to take down the villain, bringing Iida, Sero, Todoroki and Sato with him, but the group still ends up being unable to defeat the villain, who manages to keep up with the heroes and deal heavy blows to them. As the fight continues to develop, Chimera notices a signal flare on the skies, his crew's signal to regroup, and he retreats, telling the heroes that they got lucky.

As he meets up with Slice and Nine, who failed to acquire the quirk, Chimera discusses with the group about how Mummy hasn't returned, meaning that he was probably captured. They also talk about how the heroes have sheltered all the civilians, including Shimano's kids, on the island's old ruins, and that they will do a frontal assault there the following day.

The next morning, the group arrives at the ruins, and is ambushed by class 1-A, who had set up a trap, being greeted by Yaoyorozu and Aoyama's quirks attacking from afar, which separates Chimera from his group and causes him to fall down a nearby waterfall, where, at the bottom, he finds Kirishima, Todoroki, Iida and Asui waiting for him.

Chimera is initially unconcerned with his opponents, overwhelming them with his great strength and easily blocking and withstanding their attacks. The heroes initially try to make him fall in the nearby river so Todoroki can freeze him underwater, but that ends up failing, as the villain breaks the ice with ease. As he continues to fight, however, Chimera notices that his body feels sluggish and funny, with the heroes then revealing to him that they have coated their weapons on Asui's toxic mucus, which has started to take effect and cause Chimera to paralyze. This pisses Chimera off extremely, as he empowers his quirk more, entering his monster form, increasing in size, growing a pair of horns and immediately blasting his opponents with his energy beams, scorching the nearby valley.

As a last resort, Iida distracts Chimera with his Recipro Burst, creating an opening for his classmates to advance towards the villain. When Chimera notices their plan, he tries to respond by shooting his energy beam on Todoroki, but is blocked by Kirishima's Unbreakable super move, allowing Asui and Iida to hold him down as Iida closes the gap between him and the villain, powering up his right side as much as possible and completely freezing the villain over, finally ending the fight. Later on, the pro heroes and police arrive at the island, arresting Chimera and the remainder of his crew, taking them back to the mainland so they can be imprisoned.

Chimera is probably the most popular character among the original movie guys, probably due to how unique he looks and his sheer power, being so big a threat he can withstand a bunch of 1-A students at once without breaking a sweat and only being defeated due to the heroes relying on strategy and cheap trickery. It's honestly kind of a shame we won't get to see him again, as he is a pretty interesting villain with a relatively unique personality.

Man, this build ended up really ugly and crap. I'm not sure if my approach to it was the best one, all things considered. I initially wanted to make his monster form a separate build, but that felt like overcomplicating it way more, so I just settled for having this one really polluted build, I guess. His monster form is a considerable power up, boosting his PL by 2 and giving him some pretty devastating ranged attacks, as he was able to use his energy beam breath weapon whatever thingy in various ways, like straight area attack beams, smaller ranged attack ones and even stuff like multiple shooting smaller orbs of energy. He is also pretty good defensively, being having a pretty high dodge and parry, but also having a lot of Toughness, all of which are also further boosted by his monster form.

Outfits: Chimera usually wears a plain dark grey shirt with black social pants and a brown belt, with his signature brown trenchcoat over it. He is also usually seen smoking a cigar and wears black social shoes. When on his monster form, he grows a large pair of horns on his head, grows larger and more muscular, sprouts wing-like feathers on his forearms and has the tols on his feet and hand grow even more, which partly rips most of his clothing.

Re: Solar's Build Thread - Boku no VILLAIN Academia Update

Very cool builds of Slice and Chimera. I think you’re too hard on yourself with calling Chimera’s build and some others sloppy/ugly, I don’t think they are at all. Some of them are complicated, no doubt, but you do a great job of making them work well!

As for Chimera, he is very cool and definitely the most interesting member of Nine’s crew. His flame breath is a bit tacked on, but I get that they were making him a real reference/homage to the chimera of Greek mythology.

Keep up the good work!

Complications

Motivation: Nine’s Dream
: Makihara strongly believes in Nine’s cause, also desiring a world ruled by the strong where quirk usage is free. He is extremely loyal to Nine and his comrades, refusing to put them at risk by revealing their location and plans even when he was interrogated.

May Only Control Inanimate Objects: Makihara’s quirk cannot directly control living things, and relies on instead manipulating the clothing and objects held by those he binds with his power. This means that Mummy cannot use the controlled condition to its full potential on living beings, being unable to make them do much more than hit others with pure brute strength, and cannot force them to do things like activate their quirks or speak against their will, for example.

32 Abilities, 80 Powers, 7 Advantages, 14 Skills, 26 Defenses = 159 Character Points

About: The final member of Nine's crew, Mummy is a lanky man of few words, always covered in red bandages, who seems to have a cold and calculated demeanor. His quirk, Mummification, allows him to control the bandage wrappings around his body to envelop and ensnare other objects and his opponents, and not only allows him to move those around himself to hold his enemies back, but also allows him to control the ensnared objects, including the clothing of others.

We don't know much of Makihara's life before joining up with Nine, only that he seems to have been oppressed due to the limitations around quirk usage imposed by society, and all we're really shown is him getting into fights with others on the streets. He agreed with Nine's ideals and joined his crew. Like his teammates, he was initially apprehensive about Nine agreeing with participating in Dr. Garaki's experiments, but agreed with Nine that that was the only way for their dream to come true.

After Nine reunited back with the group, with the experiment being successful and allowing him to store up to nine quirks, Mummy helped the crew in hunting down heroes with powerful quirks for their leader to steal, making him even more powerful than before. After that, they tracked down Mr. Shimano, who had a Cell Activation quirk, thinking that it could counter Nine's illness, but after finding out the quirk only worked on people with type A blood, they decided to instead track down Shimano's children on Nabu Island.

Arriving at Nabu, Mummy was charged with causing havoc on the urban zone of the island while Nine tracked down the children, and proceeded to use his quirk to animate various objects there as mummies and attack local buildings. Eventually, Aoyama, Mineta and Hagakure arrive to stop him, but are easily held back by Mummy, who uses his quirk to distract them with various wrapped up objects, keeping them far away and slowly tiring them away. Eventually, when the trio is exhausted from fighting, and Mummy is about to take them down with his endless onslaught of puppets, Bakugo, Kaminari and Kirishima arrive at the scene, telling their classmates to retreat while they deal with the villain.

While the students are making progress in breaking Mummy's animated objects, the villain manages to capture Bakugo with his bandages, animating his hero costume and forcing him to attack his friends, but the hero manages to break free by activating his Grenadier Bracer, destroying the bandages around himself, and allowing him to fly towards Mummy and take him down with a point blank AP Shot, knocking out the villain and allowing class 1-A to capture him.

Afterwards, Mummy is questioned by class 1-A to reveal information on Nine and where the rest of the team could be hiding, but the villain didn't give them any answers. Eventually, when Nine is defeated and law enforcement arrive at the island, Mummy is also captured and taken in.

Man, I really like Mummy, and not for any real reason. He's just cool, with a unique power, sword and interesting design. If I'm being critical tho, he's a bit of a boring character, since he doesn't have much going on personalitywise, but I guess his power kinda makes up for it.

As for the build, I tried to capture the way we see him fighting, mostly relying on using his quirk to make an enormous barrier of puppets by ensnaring nearby objects and floating them around to hit his opponents from afar. I considered making his power some kind of summon, but I felt like Move Object and Controlled captured it better, adding the fact that he can't properly control other people as a Complication. Like I did with Mimic, I took the liberty of giving his power Affects Objects, even tho, by RAW, that can't be given to Will effects.

Outfits: Mummy's villain outfit is a pair of black sneakers, a pair of tactical grey pants, with brown holdsters around his belt and thighs. He also wears a black tactical vest with many pockets. In addition to that, his body is wrapped up in his quirk's bandages.

Sorry for taking a while to post this guy. I was feeling a bit lazy the last few days. Hopefully I won't take as long for the next few posts, LOL.
