"Yup, I am all good. I just hope I got enough pizzas.", says Luke casually. Part of him suspected if the shape shifter or whatever was a hostage they might over take a driver to either flee or take their form. He didn't see any other good way to get all the hostages to the station though.

Harry "The Shield" Mackenzie
HP: 1 Condition: Injured 1

Harry makes his way back out to the others, "I did a sweep for any evidence they might have left behind, but there's nothing left to indicate anything about these people, besides the broken automatons and cyborgs."

"I don't think there's anything else we can do here."

The uniformed woman was mostly quiet and stationary, listening to reports from others with actionable skills at play. Then nodding in acknowledgement when Harry offered his advice about getting someone other than than Zyzzak to handle the social elements involved with managing the traumatized hostages. Luke stepped in before she could direct him towards that endeavor. Dark brown eyes lingered on one of the police cars with a single driver. It wasn't long after the observation of their limited manpower that the office in charge asked about taking the civilians to the station. Evelyn's attentions shifted to him.

"Go ahead Sergeant. If you can give Zyzzak an opportunity to look at their fingerprints, that may help identify one of the criminals. They haven't been leaving any prints behind on objects."

... after that statement he spoke over the coms, making sure that Handmore heard her.

"Zyazzak, Luke, please accompany the escorts to the station. The rest of us will meet you back at HQ."

"Uh, Ma'am? 12 hostages, 12 cars, 12 drivers. This would be a good time for a shapeshifter to try to make a break for it." Zyzzak says over comms to the group.

"I can fly over the convoy with sensors configured to see into the cars but it is possible I'll miss if they make a move on their driver, even replacing them and/or veering off course. Or even slipping out a cracked window and into a sewer drain, Blob-style." he adds.

"Perhaps anyone else capable of flight can help monitor the convoy, look for any cars driving like they're in distress? The rest of the team following in our vehicle so that they might be on hand in a 'pinch'? Though I've never understood that term. What are they 'pinching', exactly? Theoretically, there's still an enhanced being in custody, we just don't know who. It's still our jurisdiction and duty to protect, yes?"

"Agent Barnes, if you could meet at hostage loading and look for any hostage acting suspiciously or eagerly... or maybe even too calmly. I'll memorize what hostage is going with what driver. As I should have looked over hostages when I first got into the conference room. If we can't alter how they're being transported we can at least let the drivers know to be on guard - no cracked windows, AC Vents closed, doors locked at all times. And can Anyone else think of any other precautions?" the alien asks.

Elizabeth listens to the exchange between the police sergeant and Bulwark, followed by Zyzzak's response.

Her own shy nature precludes her from speaking up initially, but as the police begin to separate the former hostages from the group, Elizabeth feels compelled to say something. "Perhaps our team could escort the police to the precinct before returning to HQ. If we all go, then we could each keep our eyes in a couple of cars, the one we're in and perhaps the one just in front of us. We still have our commlinks. if anyone of us notices some shenanigans in our own vehicle or the one in front of us, we can call out."

She pauses to let her suggestion be considered before shrugging her shoulders. "I dunno...It's just a thought."

In terms of how he traveled with the hostages, Luke had already made his mind up to travel in one of the cop cars. He wasn't one to sit int he back on his own. "I can ride along with the person who looks like they are the likeliest suspect. Even if I'm wrong, at least I'll help build some rapport.", says Luke before addressing the rest of the suggestions. "Maybe closing AC vents and no cracked windows is a bit much. If it's a blob like creature I'd hope we see it leave through a cracked window. All of us going might be a good idea just in case, unless anyone has plans for sticking around here or going back to base to do something.", suggest Luke over the comms away from the officers and hostages.

Walking over to where the hostages are, Luke gives them a casual all good smile."Sorry again everyone. Gotta follow procedures here though for everyones safety. Once wee get back to the station it will all be good and get y'all out of their quickly and fed by Filipi's pizza. Officer Durham said it was pretty good.", says Luke while also sizing up the people for best one to ride along with.

Cool Luke

Given the number of people, the level of stress they are under, and complete lack of baseline for anyone makes it impossible to tell who is acting out of character or more suspicious. Some are belligerent, some are extremely anxious, and the rest are varying degrees of compliant. Nobody is acting "extra belligerent" or "overly compliant" as far as you can tell.
Maybe if you were interviewing them one by one you could tell, but you are at too much of a penalty to pass this check based on the number of people involved and what the fake hostage's actual Deception skill is.

Cool Luke and Madame Macabre

You two are riding along in the front seat of your respective patrol cars. When you arrive at the station, a radio report comes in.

One of the other cars reports that their passenger just vanished. The description sounds like how the woman vanished in the bank.

Everyone Else

The others arrive back at the new headquarters. You get a phone call that the van was found a few miles away from the bank completely torched.

Zyzzak just nods when he lands and hears of the news.

"Not an entirely unexpected outcome given the circumstances. I am glad no one was hurt." the technician says.

"There seems little we can do here. To HQ?" he asks.

He adds a note of thanks to Madam Macabre for volunteering her aid when he informed of his doubts in the situation.

"These people are tense. An entire team of meta-humans walking them in is more pressure on top of already volatile emotional states. You can push people too hard in pursuit of a goal. Don't go overboard. Two escorts is enough."

... that had been the response to Zyzzak and Madame Macabre's comments. She didn't brow beat anyone into compliance, or make it a direct order, so when Madame Macabre ignored her and went along with Zyzzak and Luke anyway, Evelyn didn't stop her. But the mystic did get a disapproving look from Evelyn when she headed off to join the two men in escorting the hostages.

At the team's new HQ Evelyn took the call from the police, updating them on the van that was found and torched. After hanging up she shared the news with the rest of her team. Piping in over the coms to let those escorting the hostages to the police station, so that they were made aware at the same time.

"Police called to inform us that the dark van described by the vault crackers was found abandoned and torched."

There was a short pause before she went on.

"I know all of you likely want to do something. To solve this. Get the bad guys. Get some kind of resolution to what happened today. Do what you can, but don't get tunnel vision. This may end up being one of several active cases we have to deal with. Prepare yourselves mentally for that. We have an entire region to protect."

Today just wasn't his day on reading people. Sometimes he swung and missed. Sometimes, he hit a grand slam. Today, he missed. Instead of letting it get him down though, he focused on keeping his word and distributing the newly arrived pizza to the remaining hostages without showing signs of disappointment. He also made sure the cops got some slices as well.

"Sounds good to me.", remarks Luke when the suggestion of returning to HQ was made. Before departing, he asked one of the cops who was particularly enthused with the pizza if he could make sure the reports make it back to the AEGIS provided HQ plus any video footage. It wasn't like he'd go over it, but maybe some of the others might be interested.

Back at the base, Luke still keeps his signature cool. "I am ok with not getting resolution sometime, but this felt like a trick of some sort to setup us up later. That one person who escape can be anyone it seems. That Czarina descendant had some teleportation device primed. I'd be fine not playing detective for a crime, but there has to be something special about us this was meant for.", says Luke.

Harry "The Shield" Mackenzie
HP: 1 Condition: Injured 1

Once he got back to the headquarters he made his way down to see the doctors. The cut he'd received was a minor injury at worst, and would heal up on it's own without much of an issue. But he was being overly cautious after the strange events of that day. He didn't want to find out that there had been some kind of poison or some other kind of weirdness in the blade.

Better to waste some time with some tedious tests ahead of time then to have something surprising show up.

Once he was done he made his way back up to the meeting room to meet with the others.

"I have to agree with you, Luke," Harry nods, "They put in entirely too much time and effort for this to have been meaningless. They put in the time and effort to make it look like a bank robbery, but didn't have any interest in robbing the bank. They gave up before any of their forces had received much more than a scrape. And they self destructed their own forces, which can't be cheap or easy to replace."

Harry leaned forward and steepled his fingers together on the table in front of him, "This could have been a test run of some sort as practice for a bigger attack, a way of checking our reaction times, a way of seeing what forces and powers we could bring to bear, or... something else I haven't even considered."

"I think we can agree whatever happened here is only the beginning. They're going to be back, so we should do what we can to make sure that we've got our best foot forward when it happens."

"Now as far as I'm concerned today was a success. Nobody got hurt, Madame Macabre managed to get all the hostages out in spite of the Judas in their midst,"
He gives Madame Macabre a nod, "Good work. And thanks to Luke for taking the lead with the civilians. It can be some delicate work, but having the public on your side is always helpful. Really, all of you did great today."

"Now the next step is that we, as a team, need to take a look at what happened, see how they caught us off guard and see what we can do to prevent that from happening next time,"
He pulled out a notepad and pen and started taking notes, "Their cyborgs had explosives built into them, the Juggernauts' defensive fields, the teleportation device they used to retrieve their forces, and the master of disguise they had in with the hostages."

"The Juggernauts are the easiest to deal with, if our teammates with ranged attacks can come into play. Failing that we can try to hit them with weaponry provided by the environment, though I'd like to avoid property damage where we can."

"The teleportation isn't something I can help with, but it did seem like they couldn't pull two people out at the same time, and it took them a while to pull the fake hostage out. Either it takes a while to use a second time, or they were waiting for something?"

"Any thoughts on how we might track the teleporter or block it's usage?"
He asks the team, "I'm not sure if AEGIS has any tools on hand for that kind of thing. The simplest solution might be just to hit them with a GPS tracker. And try to trace where they teleported to."

Madame Macabre

HP: 1
Cnd: Normal

Elizabeth is disappointed when the infiltrator manages to escape, but she is not too surprised. A villian with powers that favor deception is difficult to catch, especially whne you encounter them for the first time.

Elizabeth grabs a bite to eat before working her way back to the meeting room. Once there, she takes some time to finish off her hamburger and milkshake while listening to "Cool" and "Shield" talk. When Shield gives her a compliment on how the the hostages were handled, Elizabeth finishes chewing her food just long enough before nodding and saying "Thanks! I heard you performed some fancy feats of fightin' in the bank...a real maestro with that shield of yours."

She listens to the two men converse while drawing on her milkshake. After the two kick around a few ideas about the motive for the villians heist, Elizabeth just shrugs and throws in her two-cents worth. "Maybe they planned to test our powers as safely as possible...kinda like some recon mission or somethin'." The young woman shakes her head. "Maybe they were testing us for themselves....or maybe someone else?"

Zyzzak questions the assessment that he, personally, did a good job, but does so silently.

"The not-quite-Czarina woman was involved in a 1-on-1 duel with Agent Zhao, or so she regarded it. Again, apologies if my intercession was inappropriate but we should really have a hand sign for that sort of thing. Nonetheless, that seems significant" the technician says.

"Going forward, I will continue analyzing the scans collected about their technology."
