The Merge: Agents and Powers Chapter 2: Agents Abroad

The girl blinks. "That's useful! I think I'm going to practice a bit on the Force Light power when I get a chance. It's got some practical potential for dealing with the darker aspects of our job." she punned as she busily ate her soup starter.

Adeleth tells the waitress to have the chef surprise her. The waitress smiles and eventually brings out a fennel and dill crusted squab with a berry compote. After the meal she tells the waitress to thank the chef.
"So I hope we have few days to recover after this mission," she says during dinner. "I hope we don't have to crawl into a dank underground for a long time after twice back-to-back."

"At least not until we get proper gear to fight unholy agents of decay and the like." Amy agreed.

The girl chuckled. "No argument there. I hate underground places. Everything wants you dead in there!" she joked as she started in on her main course, enjoying it immensely. "Well, at least the underground places I usually wind up in. I'm sure there's some non-lethal undergrounds out there." she chuckled. "In any case, I have a brand new set of nightmares to share with my shrink later."

After your debriefing, Hagen thanks you again and dismisses you until further notice, telling you to enjoy your free time. Those of you who have bank accounts notice that you have been paid. Not overly much - civil service is, in general, somewhat underpaid - but enough to allow for some comfort.

In the week they had to themselves, Amy called her folks, wiring some of the money to them to help out with her rather large family, then talking with her shrink about her newest memories she had uncovered as well as helping out at the local Temple of Light (a Buddhist temple, consecrated to Raiden) in return for room and board. While she'd never be a Mortal Kombat fighter, she still helped out in what ways she could. When she wasn't doing that, she was either studying, working with her pokemon or helping out at the local hospital.
She had learned early on, staying at a temple was always better for somebody like her. The meditation techniques the monks taught her helped her enormously in many different ways and the teachings helped keep her in a healthy mental state (along with regular trips to the department shrink). When Hagen called, she answered. "Hallo. Trouble?"

Lilly Lulabye
Hero Points: 2; Current Condition: Fine
As before Lilly's report to Hagen is in the form of song.
Once she has reported, she asks whether the contamination of the sewers near the nightclub has been dealt with.
She stays in Ministry-supplied accommodation in Hamburg while she spends some time exploring the city both at street and rooftop level, and of course busking in any places that seem good for it that she comes across in her wandering.
Of course she inevitably comes into contact with the street people of Hamburg as part of this, and spends time with them, too. If any of them seem in need of help she will give them money, and ask Amy to come and heal them if they need it.
She goes to see Gumble the Ogryn, because she feels he is something of a kindred spirit. She has no interest in a romantic relationship at this point, but does feel they could perhaps become friends or more in time. If he is willing to leave the apartment perhaps they have a wander around Hamburg, maybe have a drink or several. If not perhaps they can chat and have a drink in Markus' lab.
Without being at all concerned about what other people might think, she spends some time talking to trees and other plants she comes across through the city, exploring her expanded God-Speech abilities.

Re: The Merge: Agents and Powers Chapter 2: Agents Abroad
Hamburg has always been a cosmopolitan city and the Merge has made it even more so. Lilly's talking to animals and plants is something that does not attract too much attention. And the beasts and plants do enjoy the conversation, one notable example being a young tree who is apparently in his rebellious phase and boasts how his roots are so strong they'll just shred the concrete...in just a couple of years...
Flowers of all kinds turn out to be relentless gossips and so are bees while seagulls appear to nearly all have the personality of unruly soccer fans.
The street people are much fewer than before the Merge thanks to the Night War and the predations of other monsters diminishing their numbers. Those who remained, however, have formed a very tight-knit community, slow to trust but ready to defend one another. One or two have even managed to learn a little magic to ward off areas.
Knowing how his friend and assistant needs some time outside, Markus agrees to watch over the lab while Lilly and Gumble go out, visiting the aforementioned Troll bar and some other places. He is a gentle soul, extremely careful with his superhuman strength, and a lover of music, something he apparently even had before his initial enhancement.

Well, Lilly will enjoy her conversations with the various plants and animals of the city!
Despite the justified paranoia of the street people she will try to make friends with them nonetheless. She doesn't have much in the way of Persuasion skills, but she is streetwise and knows a good deal about urban survival, which might give her an in. If they are at least willing to take her phone number she will offer it to them with an offer of help should they need it. If not, well, so be it.
Sounds like Lilly has a pleasant time with Gumble. If Gumble is agreeable they can go out at least once more, maybe listen to some more music. She will sing for him; nothing more than what she does when busking, but then that is very good anyway...
And when, after a week, her phone rings, she of course answers it...

Viv DeLaCourte (Harbinger)
HP: 1; LP: 1; Condition: Normal
It was, all in all, rather a busy week...
A noticeable part of it was occupied by finding an apartment in Berlin, close enough for a reasonable commute to the Ministry offices- and once an apartment was procured, there was the matter of having her belongings shipped there, and the lengthy process of unpacking everything.
This was, of course, fitted in around the time actually spent IN the office, getting to learn to learn the particulars of her new job, and the agency that she was working for. Much of it was not to different from other jobs that she had worked- but some of it was VERY different indeed. There was also the time spent actually doing the job as well- VIv was not simply a field agent, after all.
There were all the reports from their mission to Hamburg, including after-action liaison work with the local authorities. There was a briefing packet for whoever was going to serve as Markus Dibbern's handler, now that he had (at least provisionally) been brought on board. There was all of the documentation about each of the other individuals involved in the case, in whatever fashion- addendums and notes for those who already had a file in the Ministry's database; new files generated for those previously undocumented. Communications exchanged with those within the Ministry who had expertise in any of the relevant areas.
And so very, very much paperwork.
But the job had its benefits as well. There were certain interesting books, related to her hobbyist-level interests in ritual magic, that the Ministry had in its libraries, which she was now able to peruse. And the company of other experts in various fields, whose brains she could pick, as she tried to improve her own skills.
When her phone rang, she was actually in her office, writing up a bit of a briefing for an old colleague- connections, after all, worked both ways, and favors had to be repaid...

" Hey", Hagen says and he does sound rather chipper, " I got something for you that'll need a somewhat independent touch. How do you fancy some outdoors time and some mountain hiking?"

"As long as it's not bunkers or in the jungle. I'm in." Amy replied. "I've been city bound for too long as it is." she said as she held her phone in one hand, while sweeping the floor of the temple with the other. As a passing priest looked at her curiously, she mouthed "work". He smiled and went on his way.

"What will we be doing? The deeper parts of the forest aren't for greenhorns." she said dryly. "Most of the team are city folk. It's a whole nother world out there, especially in this day and age."
