It took a few seconds before Imperious connected the idea of children to the Demiogres. He hadn't considered that they might be perceived that way by the Ogre. It alleviated some concerns he had about them being considered part of it or possession. Imperious looked the place in the Hollow where the Dead Lords had been arrayed by the survivors of the conflict that had mortally wounded the Ogre. They were all corpses now. Lucas didn't know much about animals. But he tried to think about the mentality of a herd or pack animal as he considered the Ogre's perspective.

"They died saving you and their herd inside of you. You are not alone though. There is still a herd inside of you. Take care of them. They are not well."

I. MUST. STAND. I. MUST. GET. UP. UP. UP. UP.

With that urgent statement, a resounding BOOM echoes everywhere as the Ogrestructure tries its best to get on its feet. It is slow, slow and clumsy, and falls or almost falls several times. It’s interior Hollow, like a gyroscope, stays level, even as the rest of the great beast struggles to rise up, anew. It is cacophonous, loud and moonshaking, but, slowly,, it rises uneasily to its feet.

There it stands, swaying slightly.

Imperious braced himself as best he could during the Ogrestructure's movements. As best he could from his seated position at least. After the Ogre-quake had abated he rose to his feet as well.

"Do not go far. The sickness needs to leave you before you roam. It will make others ill. The machines will attack if you carry the sickness."

There was a brief pause as he transitions from warning the Ogre aloud, to speaking with Shi'Halal in the privacy of his helmet.

"Monitor the TEGS infection in the Ogre. It is going to need sustenance as well. Do you have an idea of a viable source that is nearby?"

I will monitor the mega-organism as best as I can,” Shai’Halal confirms. “As far as sustenance, that issue has already solved itself.” TITANIC crunching noises reverberate throughout the Ogrestructure: metal tearing, glass breaking, plastics melting. “It is eating every building around it. Ravenously, I might add. It is safe to say the creature is experiencing extreme hunger. I am also now detecting an active fusion reactor, presumably of organic nature. I believe this organ, wherever it is, is the beast’s stomach.

"It eats buildings."

Lucas repeated, blandly amidst the sounds of destruction and consumption that reached them. If it required manufactured materials present in buildings, that would not be good. It would bring the Ogre into conflict with the inhabitants of said building.

"Are the buildings populated?"

He expected the former occupants to have died from TEGS exposure, or to of been evacuated long ago. Imperious couldn't leave it to assumptions, however. When Shi'Halal told him about the fusion reactor Lucas thought of the deformed Immortals who lived at the Winter Palace. Prolonged exposure to a leaking reactor had ruined their population.

"Is the reactor leaking anything dangerous out into the populated areas of the Ogrestructure?"

Yes. It appears capable of digesting just about anything. No, the buildings are not populated. The Tlolkku were apparently very good at cleansing the area of life, to stop the spread of TEGS. And, no, reactor-leakage is diminishing moment by moment. I think it’s ‘stomach’ is healing, too. At its current rate, all radiological leakage will cease in 24 Rustdeity hours.

"We need to make sure people stay clear of the irradiated areas until then."

So saying Imperious pressed his hands down on the ground to help push himself to his feet. Having risen to a stand he leveled off his head, then panned his vision from right to left, taking in the changes to his surroundings. After he had done that Imperious returned to gathering place he had encountered the deformed priest. Where Baffe, presumably, still remained during his thanks giving pilgrimage. As he went Imperious looked through the wall-flesh of the Ogrestructure, checking for activity from the deformed inhabitants. Imperious wanted to speak with an authority figure and the priest was the closest thing he had encountered to a leader in the community.

The pitiful, deformed inhabitants of the Ogrestructure are lost in religious frenzy, praying and gyrating and ululating with simplistic joy. To them, the promised day of days, it seems, has come at last. The priest weeps pitifully, painfully down on his knees, face, so utterly deformed, lost in rapture.

Baffe laughs. “God not dead,” he remarks. “Is good. Is strong god, not weak god. Any god better than no god, but strong god better than weak god. All know this thing.”

When he came upon the scene of the jubilant deformed populace caught up in religious ecstasy Imperious came to a stop. He paused to observe the scene. He had mixed feelings. All of which he kept to himself. Later, after joining Baffe, he listened to the Beastman's observations on the rousing of the Ogre. The response he gave was brief.

"I have healed it, but it is still recovering."

For a second he thought about informing Baffe that it was hungry. But if the Beastman, or the religious community of mutated Hollowfolk took that the wrong way, they could start sacrificing people to the Ogre. Or getting rid of resources they needed to aid in the creatures' recovery. If the Ogre could feed off of anything, it didn't need such offerings when there was a ruined world to sate it. Imperious' head turned to look at the crowd.

"How long have they been like this?"

Imperious was inclined to give them time to celebrate, but if they had been at it for hours already, he did not mind intruding so much. After Baffe had time to respond, another question was posed to the Beastman.

"Have you been able to determine who their leader is?"

Baffe shakes his head. “Too divided. Many herds, no chieftains; only shamans. Is good, for shamans speak for gods. But mortals must be led by mortals. Living too close to gods is to be burnt by light. Best to keep distance.”

Imperious could agree with Baffe's idea about standing apart from powerful beings. He had a limited exposure to the Solar Lion and in that briefness he and Shi'Halal had been greatly hindered. The society here, if one ventured to call it that, was tribalism on top of a primitive, rudimentary, culture and superstition. Very much like the majority of Rustdeity.

Falling silent he observed the gathering for a couple minutes, giving it the chance to die down before he intruded. Even if it didn't, his interjection came. Pacing away from Baffe, he approached the prostrate shaman. With one hand he reached out, hooked his finger under the man's armpit, and brought him to his feet. With the other he made a swift cutting motion, as if to cut through the noise made by the crowd. At that point his voice raised to be heard by the deformed mass.

"I am Imperious. I have come from the blue orb across the black sea in the sky to unite the people of this world, and join them with mine. To make one people out of many. I have restored the Dead God to Life. In time this Risen God will bring life to the lifeless soil outside. It will bring air to the airlessness. You can aid in these great works. Join me and help us build a better future for your children."

You...have...done...this? I will serve. All will serve! Will...will...the Great Lords waken, too?

Though only Imperious can hear it, Shai’Halal answers, “Sadly, not a single Demiogre is showing the slightest sign of recovery. These people will have to make do without paranatural leadership.

Imperious regarded the priest's immediate pledge. How readily would that spread to the other groups, he wondered? What too, would be the repercussions of this religious dedication? How far would it spread? Lucas' mind was troubled by these thoughts, but he anwsered the preist. His voice remaining at a volume meant for the entire assembly to hear.

"The Great Lords will remain as they are. Their time has passed. You must find a new greatness in yourselves."

After that declaration Imperious turned his head slowly, though his eyes flickered over the expanse of the Ogre. Searching it's interior, and peering past walls of flesh for signs of the fusion reactor Shi'Halal had indicated. Still, he spoke to the group.

"The creature you live within is still healing. While it recovers parts of it may be more harmful and must be kept away from. One such place is it's stomach. It burns like a great fire and the faintest touch of it's heat, even it is does scald the skin, can make one ill."

OOC:
Search: Ahhhh, there it is! It’s a roughly oblong organ the size of a 20-floor apartment complex in a major real-world city. It’s pretty efficient. It’s also beginning to churn out atmosphere, though this will take forever to cover the whole of Corrosion.

Imperious released the shaman from his grasp. Then, turning his left hand palm up, a three dimensional map of the Ogre structure's interior passageway formed in his hand. With his right hand he pointed out the Hollow they were in, then the stomach-reactor, and the areas around it that would be dangerous while the Ogre was recovering.

"Stay away from these places for the next twenty-four hours."

The map was left visible for anyone who wished to study or copy it for themselves. These people lived here. They should know the interior of the Ogre better than he did. But he did not know what they had explored and what they had shied away from due to their belief system. Turning his head to the shaman he provided further instructions.

"Make sure the other tribes know as well."
