OOC: Against the Cult of the Reptile God - D&D 5E - Recruiting Closed
Re: OOC: Against the Cult of the Reptile God - D&D 5E - Recruiting Closed
Okay, so what we're learning today is something called the "action economy" and how it relates to groups.
What we're seeing here is that a much higher level opponent can be completely slapped down by a large number of lower level opponents.
This "challenging" fight may be over before he even gets to act if Georgia rolls well.
Thankfully I didn't give you guys any kind of Inspiration use on gaining advantage on a roll, or else I'd be in real trouble.
... oh right, I did.

Yeah this is reminding me of the couple of curb-stomp battles we had back in Project Freedom where the initiative roll sort of decided the battle.

Not looking forward to what bucket-o-nasty a high level priest can dish out on his turn, though. A bonus-action upcast Healing Word will wipe a good bit of that damage away and then some spell to incapacitate or debuff the lot of us... This aint over yet.

Unfortunately Georgia's attack is a miss. Abramo's armor is actually pretty impressive, even if everybody is rolling very high at the moment.
And in line with that I also missed something: Jessica.
She is in this combat, I just forgot to roll her init. Aaaand she just beat out Abramo.
So question is, what should Jessica do?
I'm feeling a little biased as the GM so I'd like your opinions.

I'd say either throw us a buff or hit Abramo with a debuff. Good support/NPC stuff
Either that or

Not sure what spells she has available but a Bless can hit three people with +1 to saves in case Abramo pulls out nasty bad spells (with a bonus to hit, besides).
Though with only one spell slot remaining she may just want to swing away with her morning star.

Her spells can be found here
But basically you guys have hit the nail on the head.
Bless or bash.
Or Guiding Bolt, I missed that on the first pass.

Is it just me or is 4d6 damage for a level 1 spell really high?

Okay, so it's been about a week, time to tabulate the votes.
We've got:
0 votes for attacking
0 votes for casting a buff
0 votes for casting an attack spell.
Okay, guess it's GM's choice. I vote for the most straight forward method which is to move into place and attack.

D'oh. I missed that we were voting. Yes, swinging sounds grand.

I was really hoping you guys would vote for anything else so I could cheerfully spend my next round healing the priest from the 1 HP he was sitting at!
Oh well, there are more fights to come and you guys can't roll that good every time.
Right TM?

I also didn't realize you needed a vote. On the plus side, we've really established this cult as a dire threat

Everybody searching, could you please give me a Perception check with advantage?

It could totally be in that library. I thought it was suspicious to have such an interestingly detailed room right in the beginning there.
