Build Comments: As noted in the Snake-Eyes posting, Storm Shadow has been shown to be just a tad less bad-ass than the silent one, so he gets a PL10, really more PL9.5, noting that he is close to a peak human combatant, but not as good as Snake-Eyes generally. It doesn’t take much to push a fight in his favor, though, and most fights with them should be a toss-up.

Secret Origins: Storm Shadow, born Thomas Arishikage, was Hard Master's nephew and student who first met Snake-Eyes, who he thought was a thief, and fought with him. Hard Master was impressed by Snake-Eyes' skills and became his favorite student. This caused Storm to be jealous and he escaped from the dojo. Snake-Eyes discovered that Hard Master was murdered, with Storm Shadow being the main suspect.

The Story so Far: Storm Shadow wandered the world for years, becoming a feared assassin who eventually caught the attention of COBRA and he became one of their top operatives. This brought him into conflict with his long-time rival Snake-Eyes and the two have had many battles over the years. However, there have been times when Storm Shadow has renounced his criminal ways and assisted his “brother” when the need arises.

He is currently estranged from both COBRA and Snake-Eyes and is pursuing his own path.

Characterization: Storm Shadow is an aggressive and ruthless man who was capable of committing murder without a second thought. In his youth he was jealous of Snake-Eyes, because the other boy was their Clan Master’s favorite . Though it has not been confirmed, it's possible that Shadow was responsible for the murder of the Clan Master. Storm Shadow believes that fear is a good way of keeping people in line and holds no qualms about killing innocent people.

Storm Shadow is also very confident in his abilities and believes that he is capable of killing Snake-Eyes, though the other ninja eventually emerges victorious during most of their battles. His fighting style is more aggressive than Snake-Eyes' style, which suits his aggressive personality.

Friends and Foes: He and Snake-Eyes have a long and complicated relationship. They have a fierce rivalry which went all the way back to their childhood. Interestingly, Shadow once called Snake-Eyes "brother" despite the fact that they are not related. It's possible that the members of their Clan called each other brother though this is unconfirmed. At times they are the most bitter of enemies and at other times they are like brothers. Regardless, Storm Shadow is the closest thing Snake-Eyes to a true rival in ninja ability.

Classically the only difference between Storm Shadow and Snake-Eyes was that Snake-Eyes was a slightly better swordsman and Storm Shadow was a slightly better marksman, especially with a bow and arrow. In all other respects they were basically equal. Larry Hama said he wanted to get away from the idea that "Only Asians can be good in martial arts", so he specifically made Snake-Eyes white and had him go through the same training as Storm Shadow. Since the both of them were the most driven and hard working students, they were the best ninja of their clan, with the differences in their fighting styles boiling down to personal preferences and natural talent.

Reading the classic G.I. Joe series, it was pretty clear that Storm Shadow and Snake-Eyes were Hama's favorite characters, followed closely by Stalker and Scarlet. Stalker was basically shown to be THE military expert and could be relied on to explain the proper military action in any situation, or why what someone was doing was wrong.

Always liked the dynamic between the two Storm was acknowledged as the better archer while Snake was the better martial artist and blade wielder/

the brother dynamic and even in some ways dark mirror which is even more neat because of the color contrast with snakes wearing black as the ""good guy"" while storm the ""bad guy"" wears white

Build Comments: The leader of the brothers, Leonardo. I was originally going to keep all the brothers at PL8 but I went PL9 for him. He's the most skilled turtle and I wanted him to be more than able to handle any of his brothers, even Raph. Despite what happened in the CGI movie, he should beat Raph more often than not but in general, I see all of them very close in overall skill.

Secret Origins: Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki were members of The Foot ninja clan om feudal Japan. Saki, a high-ranking member, ordered that in addition to assassinating the lord they were hired to kill, they should wipe out anybody else they come across. Yoshi refused and Saki marked him for death. The Foot killed Yoshi's wife, Tang Shen, but Yoshi fled with his and Shen's four sons. Some years later, Saki and the Foot found Yoshi and his children, and slew them all.

The Story so Far: Their story did not end there. Saki, through mystic means, lived for hundreds of years more, ruling The Foot Clan with an iron fist. Eventually, though, he ended up being ousted by new high ranking members of the clan and put to death. His granddaughter, Karai, had him resurrected and with several loyal followers, including his lieutenant Tatsu, they came to America. After recruiting and training several more new members, Saki forged a suit of armor and changed his name to The Shredder and set about taking over the New York underworld.

But an old foe awaited him. Yoshi and his sons were reincarnated as a rat and four turtles in a research laboratory called Stockgen owned by Baxter Stockman, a scientist who had secretly allied himself with General Krang. April O’Neill, who worked at the lab, named the rat Splinter and the turtles after legendary artists, Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Raphael. Members of the Foot Clan broke into the facility one night to steal some mutagen. The animals are taken by mistake and after dropped into a sewer with the mutagen. They, and an alley cat that tried to make off with Raphael, are covered with it and transformed into enlightened, humanoid beings.

Yoshi, now called Splinter, remembers his past life and begins to train the turtles in the art of ninjutsu in preparation for their destiny: battle with Oroku Saki. And drawn by cosmic forces none can truly comprehend, their battle was rejoined and has continued for years.

Characterization: Leonardo is the most serious and focused of the team. Being the designated leader of the group, Leonardo is very enthusiastic about his role. For the most part, he tries to be the mature and responsible sibling, but there are times where he can be as childish as his brothers, such as teasing Donnie for losing to a mutant monkey or trying to be too much like Splinter, although Leonardo often tries to comfort his brothers when they are scared or upset, mostly Mikey.

He comes up with most of the plans and strategies while he and his brothers are fighting bad-guys or training in their Lair.

Leonardo is shown to be quite selfless when it counts.

Friends and Foes: Leo is closest to Donatello among his brothers and most often at odds with Raphael, due to their contrasting natures. He has something of a crush on Karai, developed during their time of truce with The Foot, but loves his brothers more.

Since moving to Bludhaven, he has become good friends with Nightwing, going to him for advice on leadership and crime-fighting on many occasions.

Build Comments: The brains of the TMNT, Donatello. I really like his role on the team in the new Nick series, so I leaned more towards that than regular canon.

Secret Origins: Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki were members of The Foot ninja clan om feudal Japan. Saki, a high-ranking member, ordered that in addition to assassinating the lord they were hired to kill, they should wipe out anybody else they come across. Yoshi refused and Saki marked him for death. The Foot killed Yoshi's wife, Tang Shen, but Yoshi fled with his and Shen's four sons. Some years later, Saki and the Foot found Yoshi and his children, and slew them all.

The Story so Far: Their story did not end there. Saki, through mystic means, lived for hundreds of years more, ruling The Foot Clan with an iron fist. Eventually, though, he ended up being ousted by new high ranking members of the clan and put to death. His granddaughter, Karai, had him resurrected and with several loyal followers, including his lieutenant Tatsu, they came to America. After recruiting and training several more new members, Saki forged a suit of armor and changed his name to The Shredder and set about taking over the New York underworld.

But an old foe awaited him. Yoshi and his sons were reincarnated as a rat and four turtles in a research laboratory called Stockgen owned by Baxter Stockman, a scientist who had secretly allied himself with General Krang. April O’Neill, who worked at the lab, named the rat Splinter and the turtles after legendary artists, Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Raphael. Members of the Foot Clan broke into the facility one night to steal some mutagen. The animals are taken by mistake and after dropped into a sewer with the mutagen. They, and an alley cat that tried to make off with Raphael, are covered with it and transformed into enlightened, humanoid beings.

Yoshi, now called Splinter, remembers his past life and begins to train the turtles in the art of ninjutsu in preparation for their destiny: battle with Oroku Saki. And drawn by cosmic forces none can truly comprehend, their battle was rejoined and has continued for years.

Characterization: "Donnie" is extremely intelligent and technical, always working on a strategy whether building machines or battling villains; the complete opposite to the free-flowing Mikey. He talks a lot in order to describe or explain a situation or theory in full, even when in the face of danger. He is also more short-tempered, getting frustrated easily and shouting when angry, although Donatello is usually kind, caring, and compassionate.

Friends and Foes: Donnie is closest among the Turtles to Leo, even though he sometimes struggles with being the smartest, but not the leader. He likes to hang with Mikey and play computer games and he and Raph get along, but Raph likes to tease him about his brainy-ness, which irks him at times.

He has grown fond of Nightwing since they moved to Bludhaven since Grayson’s technical skill allows him to converse with Donnie on topics he enjoys. He is close to April because of her chemical knowledge as well.

Build Comments: Gotta have comic relief in anything you do, and that role Mikey fills on the team. But don't let his laid back style fool you, he's a great asset to the team, hitting hard with his Nunchakus and being a great team player.

Now I have to note that I feel like I've been going a bit Advantage and Point heavy so far in my 3E builds, but again, I am trying to keep most of them the realm of the DCA builds so far, so I may come back and lighten them up as time goes.

Characterization: Michelangelo was initially depicted as fun-loving, carefree, and, while not as aggressive as Raphael, always ready to fight. Mikey is the youngest and least mature of his brothers. Enthusiastic, positive and adaptable, Mikey is extremely creative and goes with the flow. He loves pop culture and yearns to be a part of the real world. He loves pizza and skateboarding and generally functions as the comic relief of the team.

Friends and Foes: Mikey is closest to Raph, although he spends a lot of time with Donatello. He greatly respects Leo’s leadership, but loves cracking jokes just to try and get him to lighten up a bit. He, like the other brothers, have no love lost for Shredder and The Foot.
