It has three quirks: Absorption and Release, which allows it to replicate attacks it has received, Muscle Augmentation, which allows it to increase its muscle mass and physical strenth dramatically, and Tongue Web, which allows it to turn its tongue into various sticky tendrils to immobilize enemies.

Middle-Tier Nomu

Power Level 7 (PL 8 some) - 27 Character Points

Abilities
Strength 3, Agility 0, Fighting 5, Awareness -3
Stamina 4, Dexterity 0, Intellect --, Presence --

Advantages
Benefit - Monstrous: Uses Strength in place of Presence for Intimidation checks, Close Attack 3, Interpose, Ranged Attack 5

Skills
Athletics 4
(+7 total).
Close Combat (Unarmed) 2 (+10 total).

Perception 2 (-1 total).

Offense
Initiative +0
Unarmed
+10, close damage 3.

Defense
Dodge 6, Fortitude 7, Parry 9, Toughness 4, Will IMMUNE

Complications

Brainless: The Nomu are all loyal to All For One and his subordinates, and will obey their every command.

-2 Abilities, 0 Powers, 10 Advantages, 6 Skills, 13 Defenses = 27 Character Points

About: A base build representing the middle-tier nomu, slightly more powerful than the low-tier and presumably being capable of accomodating more quirks easier. The individual power builds for the nomu of this tier we end up seeing are included later on this post.

Appearance: The middle-tier nomu look very similar to the low-tier, but tend to have more vibrant colored skin instead of the pale and dulled color the lwo-tier have.

Winged Nomu

Powers
Quirk - Wings

Flight 2 (Flaws: Winged). [2]

Advantages
Improved Hold

-2 Abilities, 2 Powers, 11 Advantages, 6 Skills, 13 Defenses = 30 Character Points

About: The first middle-tier nomu we are introduced to, the Winged Nomu is a yellow nomu with what seems to be a gas mask of some sort who was part of the nomu squad that attacked Hosu City. Its quirk, Wings, gives it a pair of wings that give it the ability to fly. It's been heavily implied that it was once a childhood friend of Bakugo and Midoriya, Tsubasa, whose grandfather was the doctor who told Midoriya he was quirkless, and, as I mentioned in my Doctor Garaki build, was probably Dr. Garaki himself, which would mean he turned his own grandson into a nomu.

This implication comes from Horikoshi commenting that the Winged Nomu tried to grab Midoriya after the defeat of Stain, where he said that there was a reason for that and paired it with an image of Tsubasa.

Chainsaw Nomu

Powers
Quirk - Tool Arms

Strength-based Damage 4 (Extras: Multiattack 7, Penetrating 4). [15]

-2 Abilities, 15 Powers, 10 Advantages, 6 Skills, 13 Defenses = 43 Character Points

About: The second middle-tier nomu we see, the Chainsaw Nomu was part of the League's vanguard squad during the Forest Training arc, where he was put under the control of Dabi to assist with the squad's attack. It's quirk, Tool Arms, gives it various aditional arms that have various tools, such as saw blades, chainsaws and hammers, in place of their hands, something the nomu used to be able to deliver multiple damaging attacks. He ended up chasing after Awase from class B and Yaoyorozu, heavily injuring the two before being called back to reunite with the rest of the squad, with Yaoyorozu then using her quirk to create a tracker for Awase to weld onto the nomu, an action that allowed the pro heroes to locate and raid the League's hideout later on. I've seen online speculation that this nomu might be based on Chainsaw Man, which would be pretty awesome.

Defense

Complications

Brainless: The Nomu are all loyal to All For One and his subordinates, and will obey their every command.

12 Abilities, 9 Powers, 10 Advantages, 6 Skills, 15 Defenses = 52 Character Points

About: A base build representing the upper tier of nomu, above the common foot soldiers from the low and middle tiers, with a much higher degree of resistance and strength, made to contend to high-ranking pro heroes. Additionally all upper-tier and higher nomu have the Super Regeneration quirk, which allows them to quickly recover from wounds, even able to regrow lost limbs, which paired with their impressive durability, makes them nigh-unstoppable foes. The individual quirk builds for the nom u of this tier who show up in the series are included later on this post.

Appearance: Upper-tier nomu, like all other nomu, have exposed brains and unsettling grotesque features. They have a darker coloration from the nomu of lower tiers, usually being black or very dark tones of purple or blue.

Birdbrain

Abilities
Strength 9, Agility 1, Fighting 7, Awareness -3
Stamina 6, Dexterity 0, Intellect --, Presence --

Powers
Quirk - Shock Absorption

Immunity 20 (Bludgeoning Damage) (Flaws: Limited to 3/4 of effect). [15]

20 Abilities, 24 Powers, 10 Advantages, 6 Skills, 15 Defenses = 75 Character Points

About: The USJ Nomu (whom I prefer calling by the fanbase given name of "Birdbrain") was a nomu designed by Dr. Garaki to counter All Might's powers and sent into U.A. during the USJ incident to hold him off and facilitate in killing him. Its quirk, Shock Absorption, allowed it to partially negate incoming impact damage by absorbing the hits, making it so punches and the like were almost ineffective against it. All Might, however, noticed that he wasn't completely immune to the shock of his attacks, and managed to defeat it by overwhelming it with an onlaught of powerful attacks, sending it flying away from the USJ building into the streets, where the police was able to capture it.

Eyeless Nomu

About: The last member of the nomu trio who attacked Hosu City during the fight against Stain, the Eyeless Nomu was the most powerful nomu on that group. We didn't really get a chance to see what quirks it had before he was capture, sadly, other than the default Super Regen stuff, since it was quickly dealt with by the combined efforts of Endeavor and Gran Torino.

This one doesn't really have anything I can add buildwise to the base, since we don't know what it can do, but I felt like I should give it a bio for completion's sake, LOL.

Near High-End Nomu

Post by SolarOracle »

Near High-End Nomu

Power Level 10 - 63 Character Points

Abilities
Strength 6, Agility 2, Fighting 7, Awareness -3
Stamina 6, Dexterity 0, Intellect --, Presence --

Powers
Quirk - Super Regeneration
Regeneration 8 (Extras: Regrow Limbs). [9]

Advantages
Benefit - Monstrous: Uses Strength in place of Presence for Intimidation checks, Close Attack 4, Evasion, Interpose, Ranged Attack 6

Skills
Athletics 4
(+10 total).
Close Combat (Unarmed) 2 (+13 total).
Intimidation 4 (+6 total).
Perception 2 (-1 total).

Offense
Initiative +0
Unarmed
+13, close damage 6.

Defense
Dodge 12, Fortitude 9, Parry 13, Toughness 6, Will IMMUNE

Complications

Brainless: The Nomu are all loyal to All For One and his subordinates, and will obey their every command.

16 Abilities, 9 Powers, 13 Advantages, 6 Skills, 19 Defenses = 63 Character Points

About: A base build representing the near high-end nomu, who are as powerful as regular high-end nomu, but lack the ability for independent thought, and thus can't really make tactical decisions and the like. They were kept hidden by Dr. Garaki, who only unleashed them during the Paranormal Liberation Front arc in the large scale fight against the heroes, overwhelming many of them due to how powerful the near high-ends are. By the time All For One took control of Shigaraki's body and ordered the retreat, only seven near high-ends were left, allo of which are under the control of All For One and his escapees from Tartarus.

Horikoshi and his assistants clearly had a lot of fun with these guys and the rest of the high-ends, since a lot of them have some pretty out there designs, but we sadly don't end up seeing them in action, only in background shots, which is why this base build doesn't really have any other builds included in the post. Really wish we saw the dog nomu doing stuff, or maybe that one whale nomu that was in Dr. Garaki's lab. So much wasted potential... : (

Appearance: The near high-ends all look exactly like high-end nomu, having completely black skins and an exposed brain, paired with streched, weird looking glowing yellow eyes, tho their eyes do appear smaller than that of the actual high-ends.

Near Brainless: Very few high-end Nomu have a fully developed intelligence, most being limited to speaking basic sentences and stuttering a lot while doing so, having difficulty formulating thoughts and the like.

18 Abilities, 9 Powers, 11 Advantages, 6 Skills, 25 Defenses = 69 Character Points

About: A base build representing the highest and most powerful tier of nomu, the high-end, who are as strong as top ranking pro heroes and possess the capacity for independent thought, tho most, other than Kurogiri, seem not to have a very developed brain, having difficulty formulating sentences. The high-end, like upper-tier nomu, have the extremely powerful Super Regeneration quirk, which allows them to quickly heal their wounds.

Appearance: The high-end nomu have completely black skin and an

Hood

Powers
Quirk - Shoulder-Mounted Jets

Flight 3 (30 Km/H or 15 MpH). [6]

Quirk - Transforming Arms
Feature 13: User’s Unarmed attacks gain the Multiattack and Reach 3 extras. [13]

Quirk - Power
Enhanced Strength 4. [8]

Quirk - Storage
Summon Nomu 6 (Extras: Active, Horde, Multiple Minions 3 - 8) (Flaws: Source - Nomu). [60]

18 Abilities, 96 Powers, 11 Advantages, 6 Skills, 25 Defenses = 156 Character Points

About: The fisrst high-end nomu we're introduced to (if you don't count Kurogiri, of course), Hood was a powerful nomu that ambushed and fought against Endeavor during the Pro Hero arc. He had four quiks other than Super Regeneration, those being Shoulder-Mounted Jets, which allow him to release jets of air from his shoulders to fly around and maneuver in the air, Power, which gives him an increased strength, Transforming Arms, which allows him to reshape his arms into multiple extending tentacles he can use to cause great destruction when paired with his super strength, and Storage, which allows him to release nomu he had previously stored to assist him in combat. He ends up having a very bloody battle with Endeavor, even scarring the left side of his face, but ends up being overwhelmed and beaten by the hero's great power.

Hood also appears on Vigilantes, showing up during a flashback in the Underground Masquerade arc, where he fights off against O'Clock, Rappa and a young Mirko, and ends up being beaten by the trio.

Woman

Powers
Quirk - Rupture
Feature: User may detonate their limbs at will. [1]

Quirk - Liquification: (5) -- [6]
Insubstantial 1 (Liquid) (Flaws: Limited to lower body). (4)
Elongation 2 (30 ft.) (Flaws: Limited to lower body). (1)
  • AE: Rupture + Liquification: Ranged Damage 5 (Extras: Multiattack) (Flaws: Side Effect 2 - User loses their legs). (5)
Advantages
Ranged Attack +3

Skills
Ranged Combat (Rupture) 4 (+13 total).

18 Abilities, 16 Powers, 14 Advantages, 8 Skills, 25 Defenses = 81 Character Points

About: Woman is one of the nomu that was inside of Dr. Garaki's lab during the Paranormal Liberation Front arc. She had two quirks other than her regeneration that were shown, those being her Liquificatuion, which allowed her to turn the lower portion of her body into water and manipulate it so she can strech herself out for mobility, and her Rupture, which allows her to violently detonate parts of her body, which combined with her regeneration and Liquification, allows her to explode the lower portion of her body as a huge blast of water projectiles and then regenerate her lost body parts. She and the rest of the laboratory nomu fought off against Mirko and other pro heroes, trying to hold them off on capturing Shigaraki's body, and ended up being destroyed on that fight.

Man, I wonder who was the guy who originally had the Rupture quirk, poor dude. Being able to blow yourself up without being able to regenerate it seems like a very sad quirk to have. Also, did he even know he could do that without ever activating it? Or did he, like lose an arm or a leg or something when his quirk first developed? I've been wondering that for a while, LOL. Also, wasn't there an X-Men with a similar gimmick at some point?

Ribby

Powers
Quirk - Bone Whips
Extra Limbs 4. [4]
Elongation 3 (Flaws: Limited to Bone Whips). [1.5]
Increased Strength 2 (Flaws: Limited to Bone Whips). [2]
Enhanced Advantage 4 (Improved Grab, Improved Hold, Fast Grab, Improved Trip) Flaws: Limited to Bone Whips). [2]

Quirk - Bone Armor
Protection 4. [4]

18 Abilities, 22.5 Powers, 14 Advantages, 8 Skills, 25 Defenses = 82.5 Character Points

About: Ribby is another nomu from Dr. Garaki's underground lab. His quirks, aside from regeneration, were his extendable antennaes, which I took the liberty of calling Bone Whips, which allowed him to extend his antenae greatly and separate them into multiple strands that were reinforced by blade-like bone plates, which allowed him to deliver powerful attacks, and his second quirk, which I took the liberty of naming Bone Armor, allowed him to expand his ribcage outward, allowing him to form an armor of sorts. He, along with the other high-end in the lab, was defeated by Mirko and the other heroes.

Robot

Abilities
Strength 5, Agility 2, Fighting 5, Awareness -1
Stamina 6, Dexterity 2, Intellect -3, Presence -2

Powers
Quirk - Eye Beams
Ranged Damage 8. [12]

Quirk - Spatial Distortion
Perception Range Damage 5. [15]

Advantages
Ranged Attack +4

Skills
Ranged Combat (Eye Beams) 2 (+14 total).

Defense
Dodge 14, Fortitude 9, Parry 11, Toughness 6, Will 5

16 Abilities, 36 Powers, 15 Advantages, 7 Skills, 27 Defenses = 101 Character Points

About: Another of the nomu on Dr. Garaki's lab, Robot was a nomu with a very square and machinary appearance, wearing a helmet that hid its exposed brain. He had two quirks shown, the first, which I called Eye Beams, allowed him to shoot VERY powerful blasts of energy from his eyes, which could cause massive destruction, and the second, which I called Spatial Distortion, allowed him to distort space from afar by moving his hands, creating miniature black holes of sorts that carved out pieces of his targets and harmed them. Feels kind of reduntant to give him two long range quirks, gotta say.

He ends up being killed by Mirko, when she performs her Luna Fall super move on him, dodging his beams and then crushing his head.

Image

Chubs

Powers
Quirk - Body Expansion
Growth 6 (Mass +6, Intimidation +3, Dodge and Parry -3, Stealth -6) (Flaws: Limited to not increasing Strength or Stamina). [6]

Quirk - Mouths
Strength-based Damage 2. [2]

18 Abilities, 17 Powers, 11 Advantages, 6 Skills, 25 Defenses = 77 Character Points

About: Chubs was a high-end nomu that was trying to block off the passage of the pro heroes as they were charging through the city the Paranormal Liberation Front was hiding in. He had two quirks, one being his Body Expansion, as I decided to call it, which allowed him to augment his body, something he used to block off passage of others in tight corridors, and his other quirk, which I called Mouths, which gave his body multiple other oversized mouth that had strengthened teeth, which, presumably, he could use as weapons. He ended up being killed by Crust and other pro heroes who ran into him.

Image

Eleph

About: Eleph was a high-end that looked like an elephant and was another one of the nomu in the underground lab. We sadly don't really get to see what quirks he actually had, him only using unarmed attacks with great strentgh against Mirko, but it could be assumed that he had some sort of mutant elephant quirk, since he had a trunk and all. But yeah, since we never got to see if that was the case or not, I decided not to include anything like that, as it could just be an aesthetical thing, since nomu have pretty out there appearances that aren't necessarily related to their powers.

Nice Nomu builds! They're so damn unsettling, especially Kurogiri after his big origin reveal. I had no idea about Tsubasa being the Winged Nomu, and it's so messed up that Garaki did that to his own grandson. It really shows how vile he is.

The villain builds have been great, and I can't wait for more! I'm hoping that maybe next we'll see this thread..."Stained."

The Nomu's always reminded me of the kind of freaky stuff that would escape from an Umbrella laboratory in Resident Evil. Only now the freaks had legit superpowers in addition to the pseudo-superpowers their weird mutations gave them.

I can just imagine standard superheroes fighting these things. "Man, I miss the good old days when the bad guys just threw killer robots at us. Now we've got to fight something that looks like it was designed by Clive Barker or Steve Cronenberg."
"My heart is as light as a child's, a feeling I'd nearly forgotten. And by helping those in need, I will be able to keep that feeling alive."

Brainless: Johnny, like other low-tier Nomu, has seemingly no clear will of his own, and blindly obeys orders given to him by All For One and his subordinates.

Tonsillitis: It’s been stated by Doctor Ujiko that, if Johnny uses his Warping quirk too many times without rest, he will develop severe tonsillitis.

Relationship: Doctor Ujiko: Johnny is a personal pet of Doctor Ujiko, who has a lot of fondness for his creation. Johnny seems to hold the doctor in similar regard, with whatever limited brain capacity it has.

-38 Abilities, 43 Powers, 2 Advantages, 3 Skills, 1 Defenses = 11 Character Points

About: Johnny was a small low-tier nomu who was usually seen at Dr. Ujiko's lap or side. He had the Warping quirk, which allowed him to teleport other people around, something that was of great benefit to the League of Villains, but, according to Dr. Garaki, after using it too many times in a row, Johnny's quirk causes him to have very severe tonsillitis, tho that could have been a lie he told Dabi to discourage them from trying to evade their fight with the Meta Liberation Army.

Johnny first appeared when the League of Villains first met up with Dr. Garaki, where he sat on the doctor's lap the whole time and was the one to warp the League into the lab. He then periodically appears a few times throughout the rest of the Meta Liberation Army and the Paranormal Liberation Front arcs, usually accompanied by Dr. Garaki. He finally dies during the battle between the Front and the pro heroes, when Mirko enters Dr. Garaki's secret lab, sending the door flying and unceremoniously killing him before he was able to warp the doctor away.

Johnny sort of ends up bringing an interesting thing up as a character, since he ends up showing off a bit how Dr. Garaki cares about his creations in a weird way, treating Johnny and Mocha like pets and all. The helmet he wore was sued to manually activbate his quirk, with the wiring on it clamping down on him and the helmet pressing down on his head, which looked pretty cool and grotesque.

Brainless: Mocha, like other low-tier Nomu, has seemingly no clear will of his own, and blindly obeys orders given to him by All For One and his subordinates.

Progressively Weaker Doubles: Mocha’s summoned copies are weaker than the original, taking a slight penalty to their Toughness. The second summoned copy is even weaker, taking an even higher penalty determined by the DM.

Relationship: Doctor Ujiko: Mocha is a personal pet of Doctor Ujiko, who has a lot of fondness for his creation. Mocha seems to hold the doctor in similar regard, with whatever limited brain capacity it has.

-36 Abilities, 618 Powers, 2 Advantages, 3 Skills, 1 Defenses = 588 Character Points

About: Mocha is a small low-tier nomu who was another of Dr. Garaki's experiments. He was given Twice's quirk, Double, which allows him to summon duplicates of people and objects they know the measuments and physical characteristics of, presumably due to how much of an asset that quirk was and how useful it could be to have another user of it as an ally of Shigaraki's group.

Mocha first shows up in the background of a picture of Dr. Garaki's work station at the hospital, which was what made the heroes suspect his involvement with the League of Villains. He used his quirk to create a double of the doctor to work at the hospital while the original could stay hidden away in his secret lab working on his nomus.

When Mirko invaded the lab and was attempting to destroy the machinery inside and attack the Dorctor, Mocha sacrificed himself by taking her kick head on to save the doctor, giving him enough time to retreat and liberate the rest of the high-end nomu to attack Mirko.

Mocha, like Johnny, has a pretty interesting design, as a small lap-animal sized creature the doctor treated as a pet and stuff. It makes a lot of sense for him to have been created, seeing how useful Twice's powers are, and it was pretty interesting to see it willingly sacrifice itself to save his creator.

Post by SolarOracle »

I had somehow forgotten to post those last two up for whatever reason, LOL. But now, we're finally done with the League of Villains builds!!

Next up, the entire rest of the villains and villain groups in the series... yeah, this might take a bit. I'm still not sure what order I'll do them in, but I was thinking of maybe doing them by the order they show up in the series (so start off with the giant villain from the first chapter, then do the sludge villain, then Habit Headgear, then Stain, etc.), taking breaks to post them whenever I hit a "milestone" or something, like when I reach the Shie Hassaikai or whatever. Also, the movie villains would go in there somewhere, I don't know, LOL.

Not sure if that is the best order to do them in, all things considered, maybe doing the groups first would be better, so if anyone has any other idea or any preference on this, I would appreciate the feedback.

I think posting them in order of appearance and taking a break at milestones is a good idea!

The author was really pushing for a horror theme with this last characters. Aside from the Nomu, I think that Mustard is one of the scariest despite being so simple.
"You're right. Sorry. Holy shit," I breathed, "heckhounds.”

I still stand on this being one of THE GREATEST moments in anime Chris MFING Sabat just blows it and the Nomu out of the park with this performance
Dr. Silverback has wryly observed that this is like trying to teach lolcats about Shakespeare

I just keep looking at those things and I wonder why nobody tries to go for more headshots. I mean, even with zombies you have the dang skull on the way.

Doesn’t matters that they have like the capacity to dodge attacks at Mach 1 or whatever. It just doesn’t makes sense for nobody to at least try.

Seriously, in that whole list on the above posts, there are exactly TWO Nobus with some kind of head protection.

I think the ultimate irony about that is the fact that Robot, one of the few nomu that did have a helmet, died from an attack to his head, heh.
