The Beckoning Tides v3 Brainstorm & Notes

The Beckoning Tides
Premise: From the depths of time rises a prophecy foretold in salt and sea - a child born of land, water and magic shall rise up to unite the world; or else to drown it in chaos. “The tide beckons Mister Potter, and not even you can escape its pull…”
Required Inclusions:
- Lily Evans must have been a High Born Atlantean from Poseidonis who wound up in the care of the Evans family after fleeing Atlantis due to an attack on the Royal Palace.
- Lily and her son, Harry, must attend Hogwarts due to the fact that they are both capable of using the magic of Atlantis as well as the Magical Humans who dwell on the surface.
- Harry must be a Highborn Atlantean Hybrid, with the other half of his heritage being that of a Highborn Magical Human, giving him a number of abilities that other Atlanteans lack.
- Harry must discover one of those abilities, in this case Animal Dialogue (Aquatic), while on a visit to the Surrey Zoo with the Dursley family.
- Harry’s other powers must include those which are typically found in Highborn Atlanteans, as well as an affinity for Hydrokinesis and Electrokinesis.
- This fic must be set in an alternate continuity to the one which was featured in the recent Aquaman movie, and thus may not feature certain characters from that movie.
Preferred Inclusions:
- Harry should eventually seek out a Queen to rule at his side within the Kingdom of Atlantis, but this shouldn’t happen until he is fourteen, at the absolute earliest.
- The fic should start after the conclusion of Harry’s adventures at Hogwarts, with either Fleur or Gabrielle being the ones to inform Harry of his Atlantean heritage.
- Veela and Atlanteans should have a historical rivalry, if not an outright feud, that causes them to regularly butt heads with one another, though some do eventually get married to each other.
Optional Inclusions:
- A few of Harry’s Ladies could undergo a process that allows them to survive underwater.
- This fic could be set in the Earth-2 universe, meaning that Lily was likely the daughter of Queen Marella of Atlantis, instead of any of the more well known Atlantean royals.
Forbidden Things:
- Following the plot of the DCEU, although Wonder Woman is still viable.
- Harry becoming romantically involved with a male character.
- Harry & his Girls, the Malevolent Emo Doormats.

Complications
- Fame: Harry is famous within wizarding society for the part he played in vanquishing the dark wizard who styled himself as "Lord Voldemort."
- Honor: Harry will always keep his word of honor, strives to uphold the common good, and is never underhanded in his dealings.
- Motivation: Protector: Harry is highly motivated to use his powers to protect others. He willingly puts himself at risk to defend innocents and those he cares about.
- Relationships: Harry retains a strong loyalty to past friends, such as Hermione Weasley (née Granger), Neville Longbottom and Luna Scamander (née Lovegood). He is also the godfather of Theodore 'Teddy' Lupin and as such, is on call in case Teddy's grandmother needs him for any reason.
- Weakness: Spending extended time away from water (about 24 hours) causes Harry to dehydrate and weaken, leading to a situation where he begins gaining levels of Fatigue as per the rules regarding Starvation & Thirst in the Deluxe Hero's Handbook on page 238.

Complications
- Aerophobia: Fleur experiences intense fear whenever she thinks about getting on a magical broomstick and flying about in the air. However, this fear doesn't seem to bother her if she is riding as a passenger on a magical beast, such as a hippogriff.
- Guy Magnet: Fleur's heritage as a Veela means that she is a living and breathing personification of this concept.
- Honor: Fleur will always keep her word, strives to uphold the common good, and is never underhanded in her dealings.
- Motivation: Responsibility: Fleur has been inspired by the likes of Madame Maxime and Albus Dumbledore to fight the good fight and help herald in a future of equality for all the citizens of the Magical World.
- Relationships: Fleur is the newly widowed wife of the eldest Weasley son, meaning that she is the former sister-in-law of each and every single one of Arthur and Molly Weasley's children, as well as their former daughter-in-law. Furthermore, she is the elder sister of young Gabrielle Delacour and eldest child of Apolline and Jaques Delacour. Lastly, the core of her wand is a hair taken from the head of her maternal grandmother, implying that they shared a very close relationship up until Lady Églantine's passing a year before the fall of Voldemort.
- Weakness: Fleur suffers an additional degree of effect when resisting damage from cold-based attacks.

Ragnarok Unraveled Brainstorm & Notes

Ragnarok Unraveled
Premise: To the eyes of Those Who Sit Above in Shadow, the events unfolding within wizarding Britain are of intense interest due to the fact that one particularly special wizard has just awoken to his destiny as the new incarnation of Loki Laufeyson.
Required Inclusions:
- Harry Potter must actually be the newest incarnation for the Loki who died during a Ragnarok event which occured so many centuries ago that the exact date is lost to antiquity.
- Those Who Sit Above in Shadow must be the remaining inhabitants of the version of Asgard from before that Ragnarok event, and they’ll also be the main antagonists for this story.
- Harry’s primary romantic partner in this scenario must be Wanda Maximoff; although, that doesn’t mean his relationship with her will necessarily be exclusive.
- Harry must possess a birthmark in the shape of the Kaunaz rune (i.e. Loki’s signature rune) that serves as an indication of his status as Loki’s reincarnation.
- Harry must encounter the original Loki’s spirit, at some point after starting at Hogwarts, which results in a battle for dominance over Harry’s body that our hero wins by turning Loki into a bird.
- Harry must eventually locate and lay claim to the Asgardian relic known as Laevateinn, at which point he must also ensure that the sword is in good enough shape to use in battle.
Preferred Inclusions:
- The original Freyja and Odin should be two of Those Who Sit Above, with Freyja wishing to revive those loved ones who died, and Odin seeking to regain his lost power and influence.
- Harry should experience dreams and impressions of his past life, rather than outright remembering who he was & should also have an innate talent for illusions and shapeshifting.
- Harry’s encounter with the spirit of his prior incarnation should occur when he is set to begin his fifth year at Hogwarts at the absolute earliest.
Optional Inclusions:
- Harry could use the original Loki’s color scheme when designing his personal wardrobe.
- Harry should use the name “Trixie” as both his Marauder name and his heroic callsign, with the animal form he identifies with that name being a Magpie.

- Destiny: It is Harry's destiny to be the one that ultimately vanquishes the dark wizard who styles himself as "Lord Voldemort."
- Enemies: Those Who Sit Above in Shadows see Harry as either an obstacle to their ambitions, or else as someone who could aid them in achieving those ambitions. Unfortunately, these entities would like nothing better than to see the outbreak of another Ragnarok event.
- Impulsive: Harry is a tempestuous young man, who will often act without considering the consequences, even when he is being advised of those consequences by people who might have some idea what they are talking about.
- Motivation: Protector: Harry is highly motivated to use his powers to protect others. He willingly puts himself at risk to defend innocents and those he cares about.

- Accident: Wanda's Reality Manipulation powers sometimes go out of her ability to control. When this happens the results tend to be unpredictable and it is up to the Gamemaster how these phenomena will impact the scenario.
- Motivation: Doing Good: Wanda wants to help people with her powers, but her temper and the nature of her powers often gets in the way of her doing such a thing.
- Relationships: Wanda is the sister of Pietro Maximoff, otherwise known as Quicksilver, and the eldest daughter of Erik Lehnsherr, who is also the mutant terrorist otherwise known as Magneto.
- Temper: Wanda's temper is so infamous that the only one who can be stated to have worse anger management issues is the Phoenix Force itself. This is something she is trying to fix about herself, but it's not as easy as it might sound, especially since her Reality Manipulation is fueled by her emotions.

Build Comments
I decided to handle Wanda's Reality Manipulation as an Array in this storyline, since I actually found a list of her more standard stunts with that ability. This way, things like the "No More Mutants" fiasco can be treated as Power Stunts instead of things she does regularly and I can get rid of that annoying Variable effect that I usually use to represent the power.

- Accident: If Rogue attempts to absorb powers for more than a single round, then she risks the permanent absorption of the targeted character's powers and personality quirks, which also means that she could potentially incapacitate the target for an indefinite period of time.
- Flashbacks: Rogue often suffers from flashbacks depicting the lives of those whose powers she has absorbed, and has even been known to suffer through brief periods where their personalities overwhelm her own.
- Motivation: Responsibility: They say that with "Great power comes great responsibility", and in Rogue's case that couldn't be any more true, since her powers actually did kill her very first boyfriend. Now, she tries very hard to avoid skin-to-skin contact outside of battle situations, so that she will never risk killing someone ever again.
- Power Loss: Rogue's ability to absorb powers has no effect on machines/robots, people in environmentally sealed power suits, or energy beings. She'll also lack the ability to cast spells when absorbing the powers of someone like Harry Potter, unless the subject's personality takes control of her body.
- Relationships: Rogue is the adoptive daughter of Raven Darkholme, who she is quite close to, but at the same time, she is beginning to comprehend the darkness which resides within her adoptive mother and actively rebelling against it.
- Weakness: If Rogue attempts to absorb the powers of someone with an Effect Rank of 17 or more, then she must make an immediate DC 20 Fortitude check or fall unconscious until the end of that combat encounter.

- Guy Magnet: Jean is the only female member of a five-man superhero team known as The X-Men, and while she is quite popular with the boys on her team, it is Harry Potter who has taken her fancy and run away with it.
- Motivation: I Dreamed A Dream: Even though she dislikes the way in which Xavier forced her into the life of a superhero, Jean does still wish to help the man make the world a better place to live for mutants the world over, and will do everything she can in order to make his dream come true.
- Nemesis: Jean doesn't particularly like Charles Xavier because the man waltzed into her life, brainwashed her parents into sending her to his boarding school for mutants, and then began sending her on dangerous missions to save the lives of people who would be much happier if Jean simply didn't exist.
- Power Loss: Jean suffered through an extremely traumatizing event when she was younger, which has made her telepathic powers remarkably unstable. This means that every power in her Telepathic Potential array possesses the Unreliable (Roll) flaw until such time as the Gamemaster decides that she's sufficiently recovered from the aforementioned trauma.

Hero of the Rot Brainstorm & Notes

Hero of the Rot
Premise: One doesn’t just unite the Deathly Hallows and suddenly become the Master of Death. No, instead what uniting the Hallows does is forge a connection to the Parliament of Decay. The only question is whether Harry Potter will be able maintain his heroic nature now that he is an active Champion of the Rot?
Required Inclusions:
- Harry must succeed in uniting the Deathly Hallows mere moments before eating one of Voldemort’s Killing Curses at the conclusion of the Battle of Hogwarts.
- Unlike in canon, Harry must meet with the Parliament of Decay during his time in Limbo and learn of his new status as the Champion of the Rot.
- The Parliament must inform Harry that he’ll be responsible for hunting down and eradicating fools like Tom Marvolo Riddle, as well ensuring that the dead remain in their graves.
- Once he regains consciousness, Harry must begin using his new powers to make very short work of Voldemort and his Death Eaters. The fate of the Malfoy family is up to the author.
- Once Voldemort is defeated, Harry must tie up all of his loose ends in Great Britain and then travel to and set up shop within the Rot’s stronghold in the Deadlands of the United States.
- Unlike previous Black Avatars of Rot, Harry must attempt to lead a heroic life in spite of how incredibly difficult this will be for him with the powers he now has access to.
Preferred Inclusions:
- Due to an odd twist of fate, Lily Potter (nee Evans) managed to survive her fateful encounter with Voldemort only to be obliviated by Dumbledore and sent to live out her life as Pamela Isley.
- Harry should refurbish the Rot’s stronghold in the Deadlands so that it looks like the palace that it once was, instead of the truly horrific structure it was portrayed as in the comics.
- Harry’s primary antagonist in this story should be Solomon Grundy, who is the single most powerful reanimated corpse in the entire world!
Optional Inclusions:
- Harry and his obliviated mother, if that preference is taken, could form a permanent romantic bond with one another before either of them ever realizes what their actual relationship is.
- The Phoenix Tears in Harry’s blood could explain his ability to restrain his necrotic powers.

Ancient Magic for Dummies Brainstorm & Notes

Ancient Magic for Dummies
Premise: Lost and Ancient Magics are called that for a reason. But how is it possible for an 11 years old kid to use both with a disconcerting ease? The Gods of Olympus really shouldn’t have let young Harry Potter stay on Aeaea with only Circe and her subjects for company…
Required Inclusions:
- The late Lily Potter nee Evans was actually the immortal sorceress known as Circe who was living a mortal lifetime.
- The combined effects of the Killing Curse & Sacrificial Ritual made her memories as Lily seem like a fevered dream, to the point that she’s no longer certain if her husband and son were real.
- One day, almost a decade later, Circe will come to the realization that her son was real and that he survived Voldemort’s attack, leading her on a quest to retrieve the boy.
- Once she finds him and sees Harry's living conditions, all of her previous plans requiring subtlety in order to avoid arousing suspicion will be cast by the wayside.
- Circe’s exact actions will be left to the author’s discretion, but they must irrevocably shatter the protections around No. 4 Privet Drive.
- While Circe has successfully retrieved her son, the fact remains that she’ll be completely out of her depth on how to raise an impressionable pre-teen.
- Once back on Aeaea, Circe must sit Harry down and have a proper family discussion where she explains why she was unable to come for him prior to that point in time.
- Circe must actually nurture and encourage Harry’s inquisitive and adventurous nature after instructing her subjects to keep him safe during his explorations of their island kingdom.
- Harry’s education in ancient magic and mischief-making must leave him ill-prepared for the laws which govern magical society in the world of mortals.
- Harry’s primary romantic interest must be Fleur Delacour, who will also take up the task of teaching Harry how to “properly behave” in mortal society.
- For all of his shenanigans, Harry must be quite intelligent and well-educated for a boy of his chronological age, which will naturally catch several of his elders off guard.
- Harry’s quasi-divine blood must enhance his constitution to an even higher degree than the levels which are normally boasted by the magic users.
- Sadly, Harry is still bound by prophecy to either vanquish, or be vanquished by, Voldemort; but while the Gods of Olympus can’t directly interfere, Circe is not bound by the same rules.
Preferred Inclusions:
- Circe should send Harry to Beauxbatons due to the fact that she has very few memories of her time as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
- Circe should be more than capable of disenchanting the Horcrux in Harry’s scar while still allowing him to retain the knowledge which was once contained therein.
- One of the few rules Circe should impose upon Harry during his time living on Aeaea is that he never set foot on Themyscira for fear of being forcefully returned to the “World of Men.”
- Fleur should lament, at least once, that she is the only sane one in Harry’s close circle of friends and family, which is mostly composed of fellow thrillseekers and/or enablers.
- Circe should come up with an overly complicated plot to trap a male hero on Aeaea until such time as the hero properly explains the Birds & the Bees to her son.
- Harry should manage to save Pamela Isley from the Batman shortly after her transformation into Poison Ivy at the relatively young age of sixteen. Bonus points if she joins his harem.
Optional Inclusions:
- Circe could allow Petunia and Dudley to survive her wrath, even if only barely, while simultaneously transforming Vernon into a Mentally Dominated Bestiamorphs.
- Harry’s adorable puppy dog eyes could be powerful enough to melt the hearts of even the most hardcore of goddesses. Bonus points if they manage to win him Artemis’s heart.
- The 1994 Triwizard Tournament could end up being hosted at Beauxbatons, instead of Hogwarts, with Harry somehow still managing to be the 4th Champion.
Forbidden Things:
- Harry teaching his mother’s magic to more than a single individual.
- Harry allowing himself to be changed into a “normal” wizard.
- Circe teaching Harry how to perform the Bestiamorph spell.

Complications
- Destiny: Circe is the subject of a prophecy which proclaims her death and the return of Hecate will occur on the day that an as of yet unidentified witch is born. For the longest time Circe thought this unidentified witch was none other than Princess Diana of Themyscira, however that may not actually be the case.
- Flashbacks: Circe will frequently experience debilitating flashbacks to her life as Lily Potter, during which time she is considered to be Dazed & Vulnerable. This flashbacks usually last no longer than one or two combat rounds.
- Motivation: Acceptance: Circe is someone who has gone down in history as a vile and treacherous sorceress who is willing to manipulate both men and women into heartbreaking situations. However, now she finds that she wishes to become a hero so that her son has a good role model. Unfortunately, that is something which will be easier said than done.
- Power Loss: Circe loses the ability to use any magic, including her Telepathy and Air-Walking, when in the presence of the mystical herb known as Moly.
- Rivalry: Circe is a longstanding villain for the hero known as Wonder Woman, and even now that she wishes to reform the Amazon has a tendency to butt heads with the Sorceress due to their conflicting opinions on how best to act as a heroic figure.
- Significant Other: The most important person in Circe's life right now is her son, Harry Potter. She would be willing to move the heavens and Earth in order to ensure his safety and happiness, but knows that she also has to allow him the room to grow and be the hero he seems destined to become.

- Destiny: It is Harry's destiny to be the one that ultimately vanquishes the dark wizard who styles himself as "Lord Voldemort."
- Honor: Harry will always keep his word of honor and strives to uphold the common good.
- Impulsive: Harry is a tempestuous young man, who will often act without considering the consequences, even when he is being advised of those consequences by people who might have some idea what they are talking about.
- Motivation: Protector: Harry is highly motivated to use his powers to protect others. He willingly puts himself at risk to defend innocents and those he cares about.

Lord of Tides Brainstorm & Notes

Lord of Tides
Premise: Camelot wasn’t the only magical city which was thought lost to time. Even before King Arthur’s demise, the city of Atlantis had fallen beneath the waves. Now, centuries later, a prophecy arises which speaks of a child born of land, water and magic who shall rise up to unite the world; or else drown it in the tides of chaos. His name? Harry Potter!
Required Inclusions:
- Lily Evans must have been a member of the Atlantean Royal Family that was sent to the surface world in response to an attack on her family’s kingdom.
- Shortly after arriving on the surface, Lily must be found and adopted by the Evans family, who will raise her as one of their own. Whether she remembers her heritage or not is optional.
- Lily and her son, Harry, must attend Hogwarts due to the fact that they are both capable of using the magic of Atlantis as well as the magic of the people who dwell on the surface.
- Harry must be an Atlantean Hybrid, with the other half of his heritage being that of a Magical Human, giving him a number of abilities that other Atlanteans would normally lack.
- Harry must discover one of those abilities, in this case Animal Dialogue (Aquatic), while on a trip to the Surrey Zoo with the Dursley family.
- Harry’s other powers must include those which are typically found in the Highborn Atlanteans of the DCEU, as well as an affinity for Hydrokinesis and Electrokinesis.
Preferred Inclusions:
- Harry should eventually seek out a Queen to rule at his side within the Kingdom of Atlantis, but this search must not begin any earlier than his fourteenth birthday.
- Harry could rescue Gabrielle Delacour and Ron Weasley from the lake during the Second Task by using a Lugia-esque water spout, much to Fleur’s complete and total bemusement.
- Veela and Atlanteans should have a historical rivalry, if not an outright feud, that causes them to regularly butt heads with one another, though some will still occasionally get married.
Optional Inclusions:
- A few of Harry’s Ladies could undergo a process that allows them to survive underwater.
- This story could be set in an alternate universe to the world of either DC Comics or the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Harry taking the place of the aquatic hero from that specific setting.
Forbidden Things:
- Following the plot of the DCEU, although Wonder Woman could be viable.
- Harry becoming romantically involved with a male character.
- Harry & his Girls, the Malevolent Emo Doormats.
