Hmm. By day, Ultraman; by night, the world's fastest knitter who sells scarfs on Etsy.

Re: Millennium Question (DC Comics)

DC seemed to try that a lot, using a big event to debut a new superteam. I think that is how the 80s Suicide Squad got started.

This is the plotline which eventually gave us Snowflame, yes?

Re: The most petty thing you'd do as a comics creator

I think there may have been a mention somewhere of that amendment getting repealed, but I may be Mandella Effecting it. As an aside, I always thought the film's opening should have skipped the low hanging fruit of the Grassy Knoll and instead shown Comedian taking out Oswald, with the idea that Kenn...

Re: The most petty thing you'd do as a comics creator

For the longest time, I kept wanting to see a follow up to the original Watchmen where some hero or another stumbles across that reality 20+ years later, and all that is left is Dr. Manhattan and a post nuclear war wasteland. When asked about this, Manhattan would explain that after the initial shoc...

Re: Are there two ages after Iron?

One could, if they wished, include a pre-Golden period - the Newspaper Age, perhaps? - of much of the 30s. The earliest comics were (IIRC) collections of newspaper strips. Arguably, this period would start in 1929 with the debut of Phillip Nowlan's Buck Rogers, Elzie Segar's Popeye and Hergé's Tinti...

Re: The most petty thing you'd do as a comics creator

I think both companies have totally Evented themselves to death at this point. Meanwhile, a very petty part of myself would, if made head of Marvel Comics, probably be a total dick and announce that the people who did that Miles Moralis as Thor comic are now going to be doing every single Miles Mora...

Re: Pissmaker

I've only seen clips on YouTube, and while they are usually at least somewhat amusing, I can't help but wonder what a Peacemaker vehicle which took the original comic book character and played him totally straight might look like. Especially since I don't think Cena is all that terrible of an actor,...

Re: Female Action Figures: Hits and Missed Opportunities

So, one of the biggest TV hits of the early 80s was The A-Team . The show ran from 1983 to 1987, and would be one of the few brands to have figure lines in two different scales at the same time. Galoob made both lines, one in 3.75" scale which used an 0-ring design simian to GI Joe (and a numbe...

Re: Female Action Figures: Hits and Missed Opportunities

Picking up where I left off before work, family stuff, and holidays distracted me. We've talked ThunderCats and SilverHawks, so the natural follow up is TigerSharks . TigerSharks debuted in 1987, mostly shown as part of The Comic Strip, a show made up of four shows shown in short form. All together,...

Re: Are there two ages after Iron?

I feel the major dividing line between Silver and Bronze is 1972, primarily for two things that happened behind the scenes: The changes made to the Comics Code and the creation of the Direct Market system. But for the most part, its an evolutionary process rather than a stark divide.

Re: Are there two ages after Iron?

I would argue that around 1997 or 1998 (I'd have to look up the exact dates, but about the time JLA launched and Heroes Reborn ended)up until around the time of New 52 and Marvel Now were the Alloy Age, trying to combine the better aspects of the previous ages, but near the end also repeating too ma...

Re: The most petty thing you'd do as a comics creator

I think if I were to have Gilgamesh as part of my ideal Avengers team (ten or twenty years ago, when I last really paid attention to comics), it would probably be lead by Captain Marvel (Monica), and include USAgent, Quicksilver, Moondragon (with the joke being that those three actually end up likin...
