Ector Blagettal
HP: 8/11

Ector let out a pained growl as the bolt punched through his armor and deep into his side.
He wanted to scream and roar, but years on the training grounds had taught him one thing, showing weakness meant that they'd just hit you again. Usually in the part that hurt.

"Ah, Ector is enjoying the spice now," He growled to himself as he slammed his shield into the goblin, sending it's attack wide.

Ripping the bolt from his side he lifted it up into sight and snapped it as he chanted quietly. The wound on his side closed significantly.

"Is good shot. But am thinking now is Ector's turn, yes?" He asks with an evil smile.

OOC: Cure Wounds on Ector (damn those bolts hurt!): 1D8+3 = [1]+3 = 4

Darn. Even a 2 or a 3 would have been nice. Back up to 8 HP.

Evan Roadbound

Evan dodged the crossbow bolt, and closed the remaining distance between them. A swift chop to the back of the knee brought the looming bandit down on one leg, and Evan's sword stabbed through the raider's throat.
Stepping up to Q5, and attacking the B1.
Sword Attack: 1D20+6 = [13]+6 = 19
Damage: 1D6+4 = [4]+4 = 8
Using a bonus action to follow up with an unarmed attack as per martial arts.
Unarmed Attack: 1D20+6 = [16]+6 = 22
Damage: 1D4+4 = [1]+4 = 5

The blow to the knee easily causes the bandit to be brought down to Evan's level making the finishing blow quick and deadly. The bandit goes down with a wet gurgle as they drop their weapon and paw helplessly at their throat before collapsing lifelessly.

Celestina's turn.

Célestina d'Alienor (Tina)

Tina hears Ector's roar over the sound of steel clashing against her kite shield and frowns, hoping her fellows are not seriously hurt. "You can continue cursing," she says in Common, "or you can spend that breath fleeing."

Without giving the goblin any time to consider the decision she feints to the left and attempts to stab her foe through their lowered guard. Evan has already finished off the bandit on her side. If they can deal with the left flank quickly they can wheel back to help Sariel and Ector and perhaps even assist the other wagons.

OOC
Standard action: use longsword again on the goblin G2

D&D Tina attack, dmg vs G2: 1D20+5 = [5]+5 = 10
1D8+3 = [6]+3 = 9

With a 10 on attack that's a miss for sure!

OOC: Yup that's a miss.

B2 takes a shot at Sariel. 1D20 + 3 = [5]+3 = 8. That'll miss.

IC: The Nimble goblin having years of dirty fighting under its tattered belt sees through the feint and avoids Celestina's blow. You can tell it doesn't look happy about how this fight is going though.

Meanwhile the surviving human bandit tries to take aim at Sariel with his crossbow but hands trembling with cold and fear result in a bolt flying wide of its target by a large margin.

Sariel's turn.

Sariel Amastacia

"You live this close to one of the greatest cities, yet instead of trying to find honest work you attack innocent merchants just trying to make a living. You should have just let us go, it would have been less painful." Firing off another ray of intense cold from her wand, she was off-balance from jumping backward when the bandit had taken aim with his crossbow, only for his shot to go wide. It would be by sheer luck if it hit.

OOC: Attack roll with Ray of Frost: Attack roll: 1D20+5 = [8]+5 = 13 Damage roll in case that somehow hits: Ray of Frost damage: 1D8 = [3] = 3

OOC: That will actually hit, dude has crappy AC. He's not dead yet though.
And Goblin turn.
G2 does not like how the tides of battle are going and is going to use his Nimble Escape ability to take a Disengage action before booking it to L4. Because of that ability Evan and Celestina do not get attacks of opportunity against him as he flees.

G3 isn't as aware of things going south and attacks Ector again. 1D20 + 4 = [5]+4 = 9 But is destined for more failure.

----
IC: Sariel's ray strikes a glancing hit on the bandit who shivers intensely. He looks ready to bolt the moment feeling returns to his legs.

The Goblin faced with not only an armored human but now the clearly deadly halfling, can tell the way the wind is blowing and abandons the fight with a suddenness that puts him out of reach before either can take a swing at his fleeing backside.

His companion facing Ector was not as quick on the uptake and continued to flail ineffectually at the Half-Orc's armor.

Ector Blagettal
HP: 8/11

Ector frowns stepping back from the Goblin's next swing, returning an equally awkward swing as the pain in his side makes him flinch.

"Ugh," Ector sighed and his face turned an almost human skin tone for a moment, "Ector is out of practice. Is embarrassing."

"Little man with crossbow would be good to running before Ector remember how it is done. Ector not liking you shoot at his friend."

Ector's swing sails over the goblin's head, harmlessly.

The Human bandit seems to be taking Ector's words under heavy advisement, probably more out of fear of Sariel turning him into an icicle than getting his skull caved in by Ector.

OOC:That'll miss. Evan's turn.

Célestina d'Alienor (Tina)

Tina lets the goblin go. She does not like the idea of letting that one slink away to menace another caravan, but in her heavy armor she knows she will have difficulty catching up with him, and runs the risk of being led into another ambush.

She turns around just in time to see Sariel chill one of the bandits to the bone. Deciding to give Ector some support, the starts running right at the goblin he's fighting, shield up. She wants the nasty little bugger to see her coming. "You," Tina says, and points her sword at him. "Yes, you. Decide whether to join that coward --" she jerks a thumb over her shoulder at the other fleeing goblin -- "before I make you regret laying hands on one of our own."

OOC
Move action: move 30ft towards P11. I should be able to just reach it if I remember correctly how D&D handles diagonal movement, if not I'll stop at P10.

Standard action: Now here's where it gets fuzzy. Tina will intimidate the goblin G3 as a standard action, except I actually can't find any reference for intimidating in combat online (I'm on my phone so don't have access to my docs). Assuming it can be done untrained, here's a cha check. If not, then just consider it flavor (she will still not advance into melee with her remaining action to avoid AOO).

D&D Tina Indimidate vs G3: 1D20+3 = [19]+3 = 22

OOC: They changed how AoO work for 5th edition, I briefly outlined it in the OOC thread but if you move into melee range you won't provoke one. So if you want to to P12 you'll be fine.

As for Intimidating in combat, I don't believe there's specific rules for it so it falls under "What DM says goes". And this definitely seems like a context where it'll work.

I'm gonna give the goblin a chance to not soil his breeches *rolls behind metaphorical DM screen* You know what that's a funny enough roll to show off:
Goblin wisdom save vs intimidation: 1D20 - 1 = [1]-1 = 0
So yeah consider that goblin Very Intimidated. G3 now has the Frightened condition (A frightened creature has disadvantage on Ability Checks and Attack rolls while the source of its fear is within line of sight. The creature can’t willingly move closer to the source of its fear.) and will flee on its next turn.

IC: Something about your words and appearance inspires utter terror in the goblin bandit, even more than might be expected of someone facing down an angry armored paladin and their equally dangerous allies. No this Goblin looks at you as though you were an avenging angel or a vengeful spirit with an army of the damned at your back.

All the fight drains out of the Goblin, it looks panicked. It begins muttering in a rapidly in a language none of you speak (probably its native goblin tongue) but keeps repeating one word that clearly isn't a goblin word. "Delian!" Whatever it means the Goblin is clearly using it to refer to Celestine.

The human bandit has judged that things have gone down the crapper and top priority is getting out of here. He cautiously moves out of Evan's reach and moves away, his flight slowed by the effects of Sariel's spells.

OOC: Human bandit uses a disengage action to be able to move without provoking an attack of opportunity and moves to K15 since his movement is currently reduced by 10ft.

Celestine and Sariel, roll me a History check.

Sariel Amastacia

Seeing the bandit flee, Sariel decides to let him escape to lick his wounds for the time being. No use causing unnecessary deaths, she just hopes this doesn't come back to bite them in the rear later. Though she decides to have a little fun with him as he flees, casting a minor illusion which might make these bandits think twice next time. A booming voice issues forth from thin air. "I heard the sounds of combat this way, men. Reports of bandits in the area, let's show them the guards of this city are no pushovers. To arms!"

OOC: Using her Minor Illusion Cantrip to create the booming voice above, DC 12 to see through the illusion. History check: History check: 1D20+4 = [9]+4 = 13
