BACKGROUND
Real Name: Unknown
Occupation: former Soldier
Legal Status: Existence has been scrubbed for national and international databases
Identity: Secret
Other Known Aliases: Sun King
Place of Birth: United States
Marital Status: Married
Known Relatives: Midnighter (husband), Jenny Quantum (adopted daughter)
Base of Operations: The Carrier
Past Group Affiliations: Storm-Watch, formerly The Authority, Stormwatch Zero, Supermen of the Multiverse
Present Group Affiliation:

KNOWN POWERS:
Solar Godling: Apollo's powers are dependent on the Sun needing only exposure or access to sunlight to activate. His body behaves more like a battery as his powers are far more directly dependent on the sun.
  • Body Resistance: Amazing (50), Apollo has a high resistance to injury.
  • Resistance – heat, cold, radiation: Cl 1000, He has walked and survived in the Sun with-out any sign of discomfort.
  • Life Support: CL 1000, Apollo does not require food or drink as his body is entirely sustained by his solar energy. He can survive in anaerobic environments indefinitely (he flies in space, by the simple method of not breathing).
Flight: Shift Z (500) in an atmos-phere, Cl 1000 in space. He can fly at great speeds. He has been shown to easily cross the entire globe in seconds.

Solar Light Generation: Apollo can release the solar energy stored in his body.
  • Laser Vision: Amazing (50), His eyes are constructed to channel solar energy into laser like blasts, literally concentrated sunlight.
  • Energy Projection: Amazing (50), Apollo can also release his solar energy from other parts of his body like his hands or omnidirectional from his en-tire body.
WEAKNESS:
Solar Depletion: Apollo can drain himself through overuse of his powers since living on the Carrier does not provide him with a constant exposure to solar energy. However, even when drained he will be able to fly(barely) after 20 seconds in direct sunlight, though it would take him 2 hours to be at full charge. This can be somewhat circumvented by transporting into close proximity to the sun. Apollo will die if he completely depletes his solar stores, and his strength / resilience drop accordingly when weakened to the point where he's essentially normal. It has been seen that his power can be easily depleted when he is blocked off from solar energy when it has no way at all to reach him and he ex-pends energy. The signs of this are he becomes increasingly withered and aged.

TALENTS: Espionage; Leadership; Martial Arts: B, C; Military

CONTACTS: The Authority, Midnighter, Stormwatch

HISTORY
Apollo was a former U.S. soldier and the leader of a black ops StormWatch team so secret that no-one but the first Weatherman, Henry Bendix, knew of its existence. Apollo was a normal human, bio-engineered by Bendix to have fantastic abilities including super-strength, heat vision, and a high degree of invulnerability. Apollo derives his power from solar energy, and becomes vulnerable to attack when that energy is depleted.

Of the seven-member team, only Apollo and Midnighter, Apollo's future husband, survived. Due to circumstances surrounding the mission, they went rogue and spent the next five years fighting undercover for a finer world in the alleyways of America.

After Bendix's fall in 1998, Chris-tine Trelane discovered files hint-ing at the existence of Apollo and The Midnighter. Jackson King, formerly Battalion, now the new Weatherman, ordered them found, not sure if they were heroes or villains. Apollo and Midnighter were tracking weapons made in the "Nevada Garden", a leftover of the first Engineer. He ordered Fahrenheit and Hellstrike to tag them with fetishes so they could be trans-ported into SkyWatch. At first, Apollo and Midnighter attacked the StormWatch team, believing them under Bendix's orders. However, they ceased the attack once they were told Bendix was dead. With King's help, they destroyed the Nevada Garden, and Trelane gave them new lives away from Storm-watch.

In 1999, Jenny Sparks convinced both Apollo and The Midnighter to come out of retirement to join a new team, dubbed The Authority. The Authority distinguished itself from other super-human teams in that it answered to no governing body or external authority, such as the United Nations. Rather, for the first time, these were super-humans fighting for a better world on their own initiative.

Throughout the course of their membership in the Authority, Apol-lo and Midnighter's relationship was revealed further. Apollo also developed a friendship with Jennifer Sparks, who felt comfortable confiding in him.

On December 31, 1999, Jennifer Sparks died. Her spirit was reincarnated in an infant girl born the next day in Singapore. As soon as the child was identified, a bloody battle broke out between competing forces--including The Authority--for control of the child, code-named Jennifer Quantum. Apollo was severely beaten in the course of the battle. After the battle, the Commander raped Apollo. Consequently, the Midnighter gored the Commander with a jackhammer.

When the Authority battled a renegade Doctor, a powerful shaman who usurped the powers of the Authority's Doctor and ended up regretting his crimes and repenting, Apollo fried him to a crisp with his eye-beams.

When Seth Cowie defeated and captured the entire team (minus Midnighter), Apollo was depowered and kept on board the Authority's Carrier which was then used by the G-7 nation's Authority. The Authority's replacements were, in reality, government lapdogs and were cruel, homicidal and masochistic. Apollo was used as a punching bag by two of the villains, Teuton and Last Call, who were his and Midnighter's respective re-placements. Teuton almost raped him before the Midnighter appeared and shot Apollo's assailant through the back of his skull. Apollo then fried the head off Midnight-er's replacement and later did the same to The Machine, who had taken the powers of Apollo's friend the Engineer. After having killing the G7 Authority and the miserable defeat of Seth Cowie, Apollo and Midnighter were married and adopted Jenny Quantum. From this point on, Apollo was referred to as The Midnighter's husband, and vice versa.

Apollo participated in the beating of Kevin Hawkins, an SAS agent and rampant homophobe. Apollo had forgiven Kev for actually killing the Authority in the past but this was one step too far.

The U.S. President ordered an assault on The Authority which resulted in doubts, depression, and human foibles overcoming them. The Midnighter kissed another man, but when he confessed this to Apollo, Apollo became enraged and struck him, sending him through a wall. This is the first time that Apollo and The Midnighter became physically violent with each other.

Following a deadly mistake by US leaders, Authority team leader Jack Hawksmoor decided that the time had come to remove the US executive branch and run the country their way. The takeover went smoothly, but the occupation did not go as planned. Shadowy forces intervened to destroy the Authority and put corporate interests back in power.

During this Apollo and Midnighter were sent to raid the base of Stormwatch: Team Achilles, but they found it booby trapped. After narrowly escaping with their lives, their next mission was to eliminate the US military's super-human training camp. Midnighter returned with the declaration that the pro-gram was "Not so special."

The Midnighter received a revelation about the future which compelled him to leave The Authority, permanently. He left Apollo and Jenny Quantum without an explanation and returned to the under-ground. Following a humiliating nuclear incident in Washington, DC, Hawksmoor resigned as President of the US and announced elections. The Authority disbanded. From 2005 to 2008, Apollo raised Jenny alone in San Francisco, under the watchful eye of the US Government.

When Jenny was eight years old, a series of events propelled her to take matters into her own hands and rebuild the team. She caused herself to jump in age to fourteen, precipitating a verbal confrontation with her father, Apollo. With Apollo's support, she set about to round up the surviving members of The Authority, including The Midnighter. In a painful moment between Jenny, Apollo, and Midnighter, Jenny told Midnighter that she was "the product of a broken home."

In the battle that followed, Henry Bendix revealed that he had gained control over The Midnighter through a Trojan horse strategy which delivered nanites into Midnighter's body. The Midnighter then fought Apollo and Jenny. Midnighter told Apollo that he must kill him if he got the chance, but Apollo refused. Midnighter, with the aid of a device stolen from Dr. Krigstein's laboratory, defeated Apollo in bat-tle, but Jenny was able to engage Midnighter long enough that the Engineer could remove the mind-control implants and restore Midnighter.

Apollo (along with Midnighter and Jenny Quantum) battled Captain Atom and his allies (notably Grifter) in a attempt to stop the destruction of the Wildstorm universe. He killed Grifter in the battle by incinerating his head, but he was later killed by Captain Atom in retaliation. Afterwards, Void recreated the Wildstorm universe, and Apollo lived on.

While recharging himself, he was taken down by U.S. Military forces during his attempt to aid injured people in Afghanistan.

During the events of World's End, Apollo was separated from Midnighter and the rest of the Authority when a thick layer of smog covered the Earth, preventing sunlight from reaching the surface. Apollo was forced to remain in the photo-sphere to absorb the radiation he needed to survive, visiting the surface in brief periods to help the team. While on the surface, environmental conditions sapped his powers, giving him a gaunt appearance and limiting his ability to fight.

He was later infected by the Warhol Fever, a super power-inducing virus that evolved and became sentient by incubating in his body. Claiming to be "The Burn", the virus overrode his mind and at-tempted to escape into The Bleed. The Authority was forced to put Apollo in suspended animation, frozen and in an anaerobic room to keep the infection from spreading.

When Kaizen Gamorra and his forces attacked the Carrier and stole its technologies, Apollo was released into Gamorra Tower from the rest of Gamorra Island, causing pure havoc. Apollo confronted Kaizen and killed him by incinerating his head. Apollo was sealed inside Gamorra Tower and the entire building was dropped into the Norwegian Trench so The Burn would go dormant in the cold environment.

Apollo was subsequently cured of his infection after Midnighter trav-eled to Scotland where he stopped a mad Habib Bin Hassan and was given an apple by Gaia Rothstein that cleansed Apollo's infection. The couple finally embraced after a long time. He and his husband later decided to stay on Earth after the Carrier left the planet, subsequently separating from the Authority, as Apollo's life depended on Earth's sun. Both Apollo and Midnighter then helped the heroes of Earth in battling the Knights of Khera, in which Apollo fought the Majestic-level Sebastian and was beaten when the Kheran warlord punched him to a un-sunlit Wales.

Fortunately, he was teleported out of Wales by Stormwatch technician Link over five miles above the North Pole where he was fully re-charged and able to destroy the Kheran's terraforming machines.

CONTACTS: Order of St Dumas

HISTORY
Ascalon is a robotic entity created by the Order of St. Dumas as a replacement for their fallible Azrael soldiers, capable of learning through the experiences recorded by the advanced artificial intelligence inside of the Suit of Sorrows.

When Jean-Paul Valley, Sr. the Order of St. Dumas' leader deemed the Order to be corrupted by human thoughts, he loosed Ascalon upon the vast majority of the monks of the Order, with only Brother Kodo and Nomoz escaping the initial attacks. Ascalon followed Kodo to Gotham City in the Iceberg Lounge.

There, it proceeded to assassinate the monk with cyanide despite the best efforts of Batman, Batwing, Batwoman, Clayface, Orphan, Zatanna Zatara, and the latest Azrael Jean-Paul Valley before re-treating in confusion over how the latter identified himself as a separate identity from Ascalon.

Confused, Ascalon returned to the Red Cathedral in the Swiss Alps, where it acknowledged confusion over the difference between itself and Azrael to its "father". After showing what had happened through a hologram, it allowed its "father" to remove all restraints on its processes to let it pursue its mission without issue. Thereafter, it returned to Gotham City, and at-tacked the Belfry, overriding a collection of Batwing Suits and allying itself with the brainwashed Azrael.

While acting as the System inside of Jean-Paul Valley, Ascalon, in the form of a small child, tried to convince him to accept his role as the agent of the Order of St. Du-mas, though without success. Meanwhile, the robotic Ascalon used the Batwing Suits to hack into the Foxtech mobile system to locate Nomoz, learning how corrupt Gotham City truly is in the process before going to attack Clayface and Nomoz at the Belfry with the aid of ten Batwing Suits around the perimeter.

While the System was distracted by the new artificial intelligence based upon Batman in a new Batsuit built by Luke Fox, Ascalon faced off against Clayface. Though defeating him, it tried to find Nomoz, only to see Batman and Zatanna out-side, destroying the Batwing Suits. Fighting the recovered Azrael in the Batsuit, Ascalon was heavily damaged, but broke Azrael's back across its knee before fatally wounding the newly arrived Nomoz. As Nomoz told Azrael who had sent the robot, the revelation induced a complete, albeit temporary, overthrow of both the Batman artificial intelligence and the System in favor of anguish and rage. Over the course of the fight, Azrael also punched straight through Ascalon's chest, causing the Bat-man artificial intelligence to infect it, but also allowing Ascalon's programming to manifest throughout the computer of the Belfry, having spread through every electronic device in Gotham City to learn of their corruption. However, upon being given the Gnosis Sphere by Zatanna, Ascalon calmed down. Focused on gaining any knowledge, it brought the childlike System version of itself to it, and, before disappearing due to the magic of the device, allowed Bat-man to know that Timothy Drake was still alive.

HISTORY
Big Barda was an Apokoliptian soldier, the Doyenne of the Female Furies and a loyal servant of Darkseid. After falling in love with Mister Miracle, she defected from Darkseid's side and became a hero, establishing a life with him on Earth.

Some time ago, when a royal Tamaranean ship crash landed on Apokolips, Barda and another soldier witnessed its only survivor, K'li of the Earth 2 universe, butchering a horde of Parademons. They took the child to training alongside others in order to find a suitable Fury for Darkseid, with Barda as their combat instructor. As the child was introduced to Darkseid, she slayed her "sister" Eila and Barda's partner Kazana because she loved them,
and she could only love Darkseid.

Before Apokolips' war on Earth 2, Barda and Mister Miracle were dragged as prisoners, with Barda disguised as Miracle's friend. Four years later, Miracle managed to break both he and Barda free from Steppenwolf and the two went into hiding.

They went to Gotham City looking for the new Batman when they were ambushed by Fury, who was hunting Miracle. They fought until Scott
told Barda to leave, to which she compliantly agreed.

She was, however, found and captured by Bedlam who, alongside Fury, was being mind controlled in order to prepare Apokolips' counterattack
on Earth.

Barda and Fury were keeping Miracle under surveillance when a message from Apokolips arrived which, in fact, was Miracle's distraction to
release himself and his allies from Bedlam's control, who in turn released him from his captors.

Barda, Fury and Miracle were being held by the World Army for interrogation, but Barda was growing impatient and broke free alongside
Fury, releasing Miracle in the process. Tearing through the entire World Army HQ, Terry Sloan called a cease fire and Commander Khan proposed a deal: help them infiltrate Apokolips and they would return Miracle's Mother Box, with only Barda agreeing. As they prepared, Mr. Terrific presented them his new invention, the Boom Spheres, weapons capable of killing even a God. Before they could begin their invasion, the remnants of the Fury
of Famine's power began consuming their human allies, forcing Miracle to teleport them to war.

Finally arriving at Apokolips, Miracle was behind the Mobius Key that would open the door to Apokolips' heart, just as Barda thought he would in order to reach Darkseid. Barda easily tricked Miracle into using the Boom Spheres to release Darkseid and join him in the fight against Earth, betraying her previous allies. She fought against Fury but was nonetheless defeated by her, losing the title of Fury Doyenne to her. However, after Fury's defection, Barda was again appointed as the new Doyenne of the Furies.

Darkseid commanded her to prepare the Earth for Apokolips, so she went straight to DeSaad who created a new breed of Protofuries for her, planning to use them to exterminate the remaining humans when the son of Darkseid arrived.

Barda and Kalibak arrived on Amazonia to butcher the remaining human forces when a mysterious boy appeared to confront them. He defeated
Barda before being taken down by Kalibak, who noticed he was a New God. After Barda was defeated, Kalibak turned against Barda for her weakness to which she decided to escape and hide among the humans. She came across the fallen Fury K'li who told her they must continue to strive and survive. Before leaving, a desperate man begged her to look after his son for him, to which she agreed, and took the child with them.

CONTACTS: Dormammu

HISTORY
In the aftermath of the First World War, Baron Nikolai Mordo of Transylvania grew angry at the modern world. Desiring for his native land to return to its former glory, he asked Miarka, Witch Queen of the Romani to teach him the ways of black mag-ic so that he may achieve his goal. Viscount Heinrich Krowler of Bavaria, himself seeking revenge upon the Allied powers, learned of the Baron's emerging skill as a magician. Krowler had already reached the limits of his mystical potential so he attempted a spell of transference to steal Nikolai's abilities. Unfortunately for Krowler, the spell could only work on a member of his own bloodline. Changing plans, Krowler sent his daughter, the Baroness Sara, to Transylvania to marry Nikolai. Nine months after her wedding, Sara gave birth to a son: Karl Amadeus Mordo.

Karl Mordo's childhood was a lonely one. He was often ignored by both his mother, who considered him to be little more than an element of Krowler's scheme, and his father, who was too busy pursuing his own goals of Carpathian supremacy. Fearing the Baron's plans would interfere with his own, Krowler ordered Sara to kill Nikolai. Following the murder, Sara and her son moved from their castle in Varf Mandra, Transylvania back to Bavaria. Krowler began to teach his grandson in the ways of black magic. Mordo became an apt pupil. One night, Mordo learned of his father's murder as well as his grandfather’s plans for him. Alone in his room, Mordo swore to avenge his father, as well as carry out his plan of a perfect feudal world, with Karl ruling over it as the second Baron Mordo.

At the age of 18, Krowler sent Mordo to the mountains of Tibet to find the fabled Ancient One.

Mordo began his tutelage under the Ancient One as early as the 1930's. Already an adult, residing in the Ancient One's lair brought him reduced aging. The Ancient One realized that Mordo's lust for power made him dangerous but chose to teach him anyway feeling that he could at least keep a watchful eye on him. While poring over old scrolls and parchments, Mordo learned of an entity called the Dread Dormammu. The Ancient One ordered Mordo to not seek Dormammu and forbade him from discussing the matter any further. One night, Mordo defied the Ancient One and made contact with Dormammu. Through the spell of transference, Krowler himself learned how to summon Dorma-mmu. In 1943, Dormammu possessed Krowler's body but he was eventually driven out by a time traveling Doctor Strange, leaving Krowler's mind and body destroyed. Mordo learned of his grandfather's condition and, after placing a spell on the Ancient One allowing him to leave undetected, returned to Bavaria. Mordo captured his mother and grandfather and sacrificed them both to Dormammu (after some deliberation just as to which demon he would sacrifice them to).

The Ancient One knew of Mordo's actions and resolved to train a sorcerer of great power to stand against Mordo. Decades later, Stephen Strange arrived in Tibet seeking the Ancient One.

Mordo was immediately resentful of Stephen Strange when he began studying under the Ancient One and magically restrained him from speaking when Strange accidentally walked in on Mordo's plot. The plot failed, Strange became the Ancient One's disciple, and Mordo eventual-ly left.

Mordo continued his studies and became a fierce rival of Doctor Strange. They battled many times, in an early account Baron Mordo used his powers to try and eliminate the Ancient One. Baron Mordo con-trolled the Ancient One's assistant to poison the Ancient One. Sensing his master in trouble, Strange bat-tled Mordo in his ectoplasmic form, preventing Mordo from ending the Ancient One's life. Strange was soon targeted by Mordo directly, who lured Strange to England to aid mystic Sir Clive Bentley. Strange only found Clive's daughter Victoria Bentley, a latent mystic herself, and fell into Mordo's trap. When the Baron attacked Strange, he was still no match for Stephen's superior mystical abilities and was forced to flee the scene. Mordo soon struck again, this time tricking Strange into leaving his body in his spirit form. Knowing that if Strange was sepa-rated from his mortal body for more than 24 hours he would die, Mordo trapped his ectoplasmic form. Seeking the Ancient One's aid, Strange was able to recover a mystical ring that allowed him to break Mordo's spells and return to his mortal body, banishing Mordo once again.

Mordo created a miniature replica of the Sanctum and planned to transport Strange and his home into an unknown dimension. Seeking the spell's source Dr. Strange travels in ethereal form to the home of Baron Mordo where he falls into another trap, a bottle like prison. Mordo arrives at the Ancient One's house only to discover that Strange has reached there before him. Mordo's magical prison had no floor. By descending downwards through the Earth Strange had eventually weakened the spell enough to break free. In the following magical battle Dr. Strange's good powers defeats Mordo's evil ones. Mordo stole Strange's body when he was in the Astral Plane, in hopes that Strange's body would die without its soul. He then sent an ectoplasmic warrior to attack him and put his body on display in a wax museum. They battled in the astral plane, and Stange wins who then traps him there, and places Mordo's body on display in the wax museum. Mordo kidnapped the Ancient One. Strange searched the world over trying to find the Ancient One while simultaneously trying to prevent Mordo from capturing him. Finding and freeing the Ancient One in ancient Aztec ruins, Dr. Strange confronts Mordo and defeats him in a mystic duel.

Dormammu also employed Mordo as a pawn to try and enter Earth. He sent Mordo and his minions to attack the Ancient One. Mordo then sent out a message to all evil mys-tics to help destroy Strange. He sent his minions to kill Strange in Hong Kong but he escaped them. When Strange returned home, Dormammu infused Mordo with his mystical might and sends him to battle Strange allowing him to easily defeat him. He sends him to the Dark Dimension where Mordo was forced to fight Strange again when he return home. Clea helps Dr. Strange gain the upper hand by unleashing the Mindless Ones in order to keep Dormammu busy long enough for Strange to bind Mordo and his minions in molecules. Mordo sent one his minions to do his bidding, channeling his mystical powers through him. Mordo's min-ion was easily defeated. Mordo arrived shortly after to find that his opponent has escaped. Baron Mordo kidnapped the unconscious body of the Ancient One, and transported him to the Dark Dimension, and is now being held hostage along with Clea. Strange is then told to duel Mordo for their freedom. Mordo loses the battle from the Dark Dimension. Fed up with Mordo's constant bungling, Dormammu trans-ports Strange, Mordo, and the Ancient One to the Dark Dimension. During a battle with Dormammu, Strange was blasted in the back by Mordo. Furious that Mordo would interfere in an honor battle against Dr. Strange, Dormammu banishes his minion, but it was too late and Strange defeated the demon, forcing him swear to not to invade his dimension.

When Dormammu was defeated by Eternity, Doctor Strange was able to reverse all his spells returning Mordo. But he trapped him back in a mystical prison.

Mordo escaped from his prison teamed up with a group of mystics freed after the defeat of Zom. They formed a group known as the Circle Sinister. Dr. Strange tracked down the Circle to their meeting place where he battles Mordo. However, Strange was able to convince Mordo to help collect all the evil mystical essence, via a rite of Exorcism. In order to collect all the fragments together, they must be contained in a human host, a role which Mordo agrees to take. After the exorcism is complete, and all the evil power unleashed by Zom is collected into Mordo's body, Mordo turns on Strange, striking him down. Easily overpowering Dr. Strange with his new found power, Baron Mordo banishes the Doctor to another realm. Strange returned with the Staff of Polar Power and battled Mordo, the staff absorbing Mordo's excess mystical powers and banishing him to another realm.

Mordo took over the identity of Dr. Strange when the original was powerless during a battle at the Sanctum. But Strange regained his powers from the Ancient One. He then attacked his impostor once more, and easily defeats him. Unmasking him, Strange finds that his imposter is none other than his mortal enemy, Baron Mordo.

After pursuing the 31st century wizard Sise-Neg into the past and offering him to become his disciple, Mordo went insane after witnessing Sise-Neg recreating the universe.

Baron Mordo had been at the Sanctum since he went insane. Probing his dreams, Strange finds that Mordo is being terrorized by Nightmare. However, before Strange can stop Nightmare, Mordo goes unconscious, severing the link to Night-mare's realm. Strange seeks the aid of the Aged Genghis, but finds that he has gone completely insane due to Nightmare's machinations as well. As Mordo awakens from an-other nightmare, Mordo himself reached out to the Aged Genghis in his astral form. Mordo regained his mind and invaded the world which Eternity has sent Strange, attacking him with the very madness Mordo was infected with. Clea arrives to attempt to help Strange, however Mordo has engulfed the world with his madness causing it to destroy. Mordo robbed the San Gabriel Ar-chives at the Vatican. Strange learned Mordo was now free, and learned Lord Phyffe was now working for Mordo who intended to cast a spell to open the Seven Gates of Chaos, which will ultimately destroy the Earth itself. Mordo offered Phyffe a new home in the new uni-verse that Mordo intends to create once he succeeds. Phyffe was killed in a car accident, but was resurrected by Mordo, who then transformed Phyffe into a new form which he christened Asreal, and sent him after Strange. Mordo sent Man-Thing to kill Doctor Strange. He gathered together thirteen people for sacrifice to the Chaos Demon. Jennifer Kale, Man-Thing worked together to defeat Mordo.

Mordo returned and spied on his old enemy. He attacked him at Morga-na Blessing's apartment. Mordo's powers have been boosted to near infinite levels by his time away from Earth. Mordo seemingly defeats Dr. Strange. He then turns his attentions to Morgana and is about to kill her when he is attacked by Morgana's cat. This cat is in reality possessed by the astral form of Dr. Strange, who uses the moment of distraction to unleash the full force of his power, casting a mighty spell that seemingly destroys Baron Mordo, and restores everything to normal. Morgana approached her cat the next day, but it was really Mordo in disguise. Mordo had survived the battle, killed her real cat, and taken it's place so that he may sneak into Strange's Sanctum. Mordo attacked Clea and Wong, and the attack gets the attention of Dr. Strange who was easily stopped by Mordo, who teleported away with Morgana and Clea as his prisoners. He traveled back to England in 1943. He and Mordo are taken prisoner by that era's Dormammu. Viscount Heinrich Krowler used his grandson, Karl Mordo, as a pawn to achieve great mystical power. Casting a spell on the young boy that would send all his mystical knowledge back into the past for his grandfather to utilize, he would use his mystical influence to help boost Adolf Hitler's bid to power become second to the Nazi leader himself. When the adult Mordo would traveled into the past, he had played into his grandfather’s plan who overpowered him and would use his magical might to assist Dormammu, who hopes to gain access to Earth in it's past during a time when Doctor Strange was not around to stop him. When Krowler asked Dormammu to spare his grandson, Dormammu refused, and transformed Mordo into his most basic mystical form. Using Dormammu's past-incarnations own power against his present self, Strange casts a love spell through his body, connecting it to everyone in the room destroying the spell and seemingly destroying Mordo and Dormammu, and driving Krowler mad in the process.

Mordo was recruited into Mephisto's Legion Accursed.

Baron Mordo discovered he had cancer and made deals with anyone one he could to find a cure. Mordo attacked Strange and stole his soul. Doc reverses the spell and traps Mordo and the kidnapped Sara Wolfe in a tiny soul sphere. Mordo had promised a soul to both Satan-nish and Mephisto for a cure, so Strange had to battle them both. Mordo talked Sara into freeing him from Doc's basement. When freed he knocked out Strange and Clea. Mordo, Doctor Strange, Clea, and Umar fights Dormammu. Umar tricks Dormammu into ruling part of the Dark Dimension (over the Mind-less Ones) while she and Baron Mordo rule everything else. After sometime, Clea deposes Umar and Baron Mordo, only to unleash Dormammu.

Baron Mordo discovered he had cancer. It is not clear whether Astrid Mordo was born before or after Mordo's magical studies, but he apparently instructed her in magic. When he later became ill, she at-tacked Doctor Strange. Attempts to heal this failed, and he returned to Tibet to seek forgiveness from everyone, including Strange. He was forgiven, and died at peace.

However, after Spider-Man and Doctor Strange were involved in a time traveling adventure, it seemed that a younger, evil Mordo existed.

Baron Mordo was picked at some point in the past by the Collector, among others, when he settled a bet with the Grandmaster. The Collector teamed up Red Hulk with Tiger Shark, Baron Mordo, and Terrax against Hulk, Namor, Doctor Strange, and Silver Surfer. Eager for revenge on his counterpart, Red Hulk agreed to take part in the fight, dubbing his team "The Offenders". Mordo confronted Strange and Dormammu but was killed by Rulk as all the participants. They were all resurrected and sent back to their time-lines with no memories.

Later, Mordo located to South America. He helped an army of followers kidnap Monet St. Croix's father, Cartier, in order to make her come to him, and giving her energy to cure his cancer. Confronted by M and her teammate of X-Factor Guido Carosella and targeted by the M.R.D.'s bombers, he agreed to teleport the heroes and Cartier to X-Factor's hideout, in exchange for Monet's energy once the teleportation done. M tricked him into believing he killed X-Factor and was cured, and let him go, half crazy.

After his corpse was seen by Kang in Brazil, where Thor's magical axe was being held, apparently killed by that weapon, Baron Mordo re-turned, empowered by Dormammu, and with the objective to kill Doctor Strange on his superior's behalf.

When Manhattan became sur-rounded by Darkforce following Hydra's takeover of the United States, Baron Mordo was been ap-pointed as Manhattan's caretaker, taking up residence in the Sanctum Sanctorum. In addition, he had the Elder God Pluorrg stand guard out-side the Sanctum Sanctorum.

HISTORY
Lucas "Luke" Fox was born into a family of wealth and prestige, his father Lucius Fox was president and CEO of Wayne Enterprises and a genius scientist and inventor. Lucas, it seemed had inherited his father's natural intellect and was extremely intelligent. Luke graduated MIT with double degrees in engineering and business management and soon had hundreds of job offers from around the world even one from his father’s company of Wayne Enterprises. However, Lucas had other aspirations seeking to gain the attention of the Batman (Bruce Wayne) he took to MMA and cage fighting, hoping the Batman would notice his skills and intellect and recruit him into the new fledgling Batman Incorporated which gained him the scorn of his father, who was distraught that his son was ignoring so many prospects to go fight in "Barbaric cage-matches".

Luke's dream came to fruition after the previous Batwing, David Zavimbe retired from the cape and cowl for personal reasons. Batman, stat-ing Luke was his "first choice" quickly tried to recruit him as the new Batman of Africa, Batwing. Luke eagerly accepted, disguising his new job by saying he wanted to take a yearlong trip to the mother-land. His father, upset at his seemingly reckless antics argued with him which resulted with Luke leaving forcefully in a huff.

Batwing helped Jim Corrigan investigate recent events in Arkham Asylum, where the Joker's Daughter was using the spirits of the inmates to resurrect what she believed to be the Joker in the body of Maxie Zeus (although it is revealed to be Deacon Blackfire).

Luke Fox began a romantic relationship with Barbara Gordon, also fighting crime together as their alter-egos Batwing and Batgirl.

Originally, Luke had chosen to put Batwing on hold while he focused on his company. However, after the death of Tim Drake, Batman called him in to use his tech expertise to repair the Belfry and finish the up-grades Tim was making. When Luke gets drawn into the conflict with the Victim Syndicate, he decides to join Batman's new team as tech support and as Batwing.

During the League of Assassins attack on Gotham, Luke reinforced the Batman Family in their battle against the League, but is captured alongside Azrael. When he is freed, Luke disarmed a mini nuke meant to destroy the city.

Batwing was accepted as an official member of the Batman Family and joined his fellow Bat-colleagues in taking down the Penguin, who was in the midst of a police chase.

Realizing that his friend Jean-Paul is risking his sanity by wearing the Suit of Sorrows Lucas begins to construct a new suit in secret. How-ever, he realized the only problem was attempting to find an A.I with both a benevolent morale code and the strength to resist the hostile A.I Ascalon. Unfortunately, during the midst of his work Jean-Paul succumbed to the spirit of Azrael. And in conjunction with Ascalon took over several of Lucas' Batwing suits in an attempt to kill him, Orphan, and Batwoman and establish 'Di-vine Justice' over Gotham. However, after a quick fight, ending when Zatanna and Batman arrived, Jean-Paul was subdued and Lucas finally figured out the solution to his prob-lem. As the Batman Family discuss what to do with Jean Lucas decides it's time to unveil his plan and reveals the new suit for Jean-Paul while explaining that he plans to use Batman as the new A.I template for Azrael.

Reality Manipulation: Class 1000 ability to restructure a section of its surroundings into whatever shape and nature it desires. This power initially affects a single area, but the zone of effect increases by 1 area per turn. The maxim um area of effect is a sphere 2000 miles in diameter. The effect lasts for two years. In truth, the restructured area is act actually a pocket dimension that over laps the real, unaffected area.

Everything and everyone within Beyonder’s immediate vicinity is transferred to this pocket dimension and remains there until the effect ends. As the zone increases in size, more beings are automatically transported into this pocket uni-verse. Beings al ready within this region perceive it to be infinite. If they wander beyond Beyonder’s area of effect, they are automatically transported to the parallel dimension that most resembles the conditions within the pocket universe. When the effect ends, all beings affected by Beyonder’s power are safely transported back to their home reality, in locations relative to their previous locations within the pocket dimension.

By using this power on itself, The Beyonder is able to change its apparent form and apparently use any power it chooses, even those it did not previously possess. Such newly generated powers have Class 1000 rank. The effects of such changes or his powers only exist within the current pocket dimension.

HISTORY
The being known as the Beyonder is, in fact, a young member of an ancient otherworldly race known as the Beyonders or Ivory Kings. He was dragged to Earth by the super-villains geniuses group Intel by a tachyon beam meant to attract a Vibranium meteorite.

The Beyonder observed Earth for a number of years and was fascinated to discover that the beings living within Earth's reality were not each a creation complete unto them-selves. Within his universe the Be-yonder was complete; indeed he was all of his reality. As a consequence, he was naturally surprised to discover that Earth's beings were merely a part of a greater whole making up their universe; one that was itself but a member of a larger collection of universes, perhaps of infinite extent, called a multiverse! Hence, each sentient being on Earth was, in the Beyonder's unique point of view, inherently "incomplete" and thereby [he assumed] must strive to find some way to remedy its incompleteness. For this reason the Beyonder decided that the driving force of all sentient beings must be desire—an emotional state previously unknown to him—which manifested itself as a longing to grow; to be; to evolve into some-thing that one is currently not in order to achieve a sense of completeness. Indeed, upon the realization that he (as he heretofore thought) was not all that existed, he began to view himself as incomplete, and, as a result, found that he too now felt desire.

To investigate the nature of desire, the Beyonder undertook an experiment. Various adventurers based on Earth, most of them possessing superhuman powers, including the Hulk, Spider-Man, and members of the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men, went to New York City's Central Park to investigate an enormous circular construct which had materialized in the park's Sheep Meadow. Upon entering the construct, the adventurers (as well as the construct itself) were teleported to an area of space-time near a galaxy far from the vicinity of Earth's. Similarly, a large number of costumed criminals, including the Absorbing Man, Doctor Doom, Doc-tor Octopus, the Enchantress, Kang, the Lizard, the Molecule Man, Ultron, the Wrecker and the rest of the Wrecking Crew, as well as the planet-devourer Galactus, found themselves in another construct within this same area of space-time. Aboard the constructs the passengers watched in awe as the galaxy nearest to them was annihilated by an unseen force, except for a single star. Then, before their eyes, a planet, which became known as Battleworld, was created to orbit that star. Finally, a rift opened in space-time, from which poured a blinding light, and the passengers within the constructs heard a voice telling them, "I am from beyond! Slay your enemies and all you de-sire shall be yours! Nothing you dream of is impossible for me to accomplish!" The passengers were then sent to Battleworld. There, over the next several days, they engaged in a "secret war" among themselves; most of the criminals sought to destroy the heroic adventurers in order to gain the prize that the Beyonder had promised.

In the course of the "secret war," Doctor Doom used technological means to steal the Beyonder's apparently unlimited power and absorbed it into himself. Too weakened to strike back against Doom, the Beyonder secretly took possession of the body of Klaw, who had been resurrected on Battleworld after his seeming destruction by Dazzler. The Beyonder took control of Klaw's subconscious mind and thus motivated him to encourage Doom's fears of his superhuman opponents in the "secret war" as well as playing upon Doom's own deep-seated doubts over his ability to control his newly gained powers. The Beyonder also had Klaw persuade Doom to grant him part of his power. Then, when Doom was struggling to control it during a bat-tle with Captain America, the Be-yonder left Klaw's body and re-claimed his full power. The Beyonder then vanished, and the participants in the "secret war" returned to the various places from which they had been transported.

Charles Xavier had initially planned to use his powers to make everyone fall asleep and thus to buy both him and Reed Richards time to formulate an escape plan, but did not because of a justifiable fear of the Beyonder's wrath.

Months later, the Beyonder arrived on Earth to continue his study of humanity and of desire. He had never possessed a true form of his own before, but now he created for himself a physical form that resembled a composite of the bodies of various participants in the "secret war," in order that he could walk among humanity and fulfill his own desire for experience in this world. Next he gave himself a body identical to that of the Molecule Man. To study the effects of enabling someone to fulfill his fantasies, the Beyonder transformed television writer Stewart Cadwall into the ar-mored Thundersword. Cadwall ran amok in his new identity, and was opposed and defeated by various costumed adventurers.

Subsequently, the Beyonder gave himself a body identical to that of Captain America. He thereafter encountered a number of costumed adventurers, but found it difficult to understand — even to relate to — counsel offered him about the nature of life by some of them. The Beyonder then met an underworld figure named Vinnie, whom, seeking to make use of his superhuman powers, became his "guide" to the world. Under Vinnie's influence the Beyonder sought wealth, pleasure, and power over others. He further altered his physical appearance, giving himself black curly hair and maintained this form for most of the rest of his existence on Earth.

The Beyonder finally parted company with Vinnie, and used his powers to take complete control of every mind and even the very at-oms making up the matter on Earth. However, the Beyonder was dissatisfied with this and found neither pleasure in, nor a point to, the servitude of others when they were compelled through subterfuge to act like automatons. Hence, he re-leased everyone and everything on Earth from his control; wiped out even the memories of his conquest of Earth — although he did allow some few of them to retain a vague reminiscence of it.

The Beyonder continued to experiment with experiencing love affairs with human beings. On a journey to the Andromeda Galaxy to locate the Avengers, he was responsible for the escape of their foe Nebula. To study the effects of the desire for revenge, the Beyonder transformed Thor's enemy, the Dark Elf Algrim into the powerful menace Kurse. He also saved Elizabeth Twoyoungmen, then known as Talisman, from entrapment in an other dimensional world. The Beyonder sought to make Alison Blaire (Dazzler), his lover, and even went so far as to bestow half of his power upon her so that they would be equals. How-ever, she was not in love with him, and the disappointed Beyonder, once more in possession of his full power, parted from her.

Now the Beyonder's mood began to change. He found desire a nuisance, and wondered whether he should continue to study it or just return to the Beyond-Realm, where he would feel complete unto him-self. He briefly had the young superhuman mutant called Boom-Boom as a companion, and terrified her when he threatened to destroy the entire universe on a whim. She alerted the Avengers as to his threat, and they in turn informed other superhuman champions.

Deciding he could not simply return to the Beyond-Realm and forget that he had ever experienced desire, the Beyonder remained on Earth but fell into despair. The sorcerer Doctor Strange advised him to find a purpose in life, and so the Beyonder decided to become a champion of life like Strange him-self. He acted as a "super hero" both on Earth and on other planets, but still seemed uncertain of his role in the universe, especially after Captain America and Mister Fantastic advised him of their fears that humanity would become overly dependent on the Beyonder to solve their problems for them. Encouraged by his aide, a journalist named Dave, the Beyonder overcame his own doubts. He then obliterated Death itself from the universe, thus earning the wrath of Mephisto, the "satanic" ruler of dimensional realm of the dead. The Molecule Man, however, convinced the Beyonder that existence was meaningless without death, and so the Beyonder brought Death back into existence by using his power to kill the report-er Dave, who willingly sacrificed his life.

The Beyonder went to a South Seas island to contemplate. While there, an army of superhuman criminals assembled by Mephisto at-tacked him, but he was saved by the Thing. Inspired by the Thing's heroism, the Beyonder decided to inspire others in turn to find their true role in life. But, again, the Be-yonder used his powers to control the minds of others to do so. After the Puma failed to kill him, he be-came convinced that he was wasting his time in trying to enlighten others.

Furious, the Beyonder now believed that he had no role in the universe at all, and decided that he would be happier if he destroyed the Multi-verse so that he would be alone once more. His powers were feared by the gods themselves. He slaughtered most of the New Mutants and did battle with the Avengers and Rachel Summers, a.k.a. Phoenix. Finally, many of Earth's costumed champions joined forces to stop the Beyonder once and for all, but none succeeded.

In an underground sanctum sanctorum deep beneath the Colorado Rocky Mountains, the Beyonder decided that perhaps he could find the contentment he sought by be-coming a mortal being. The Beyonder created a vast machine necessary to bring about this transformation and tested it by resurrecting the New Mutants that he had killed earlier. He then turned it on himself thus becoming a mortal being with no superhuman powers. He was then (not surprisingly) immediately confronted again by the vengeful Mephisto. The Beyonder quickly reclaimed his tremendous power and immortality, and decided that, in order to protect himself from his foes, he would use the machine to transform himself into a mortal be-ing—but one who still retained his full power. The Molecule Man and the assembled costumed heroes then attacked the Beyonder in his sanctum, but he defeated them all. Ultimately, the Beyonder entered the machine and was transformed by it into a mortal infant and which then began transferring the Beyonder's vast power into this newly created form. The machine was then to rapidly age his infant form into an adult and release him. Believing that he must take what seemed to him the only chance he might have to save the multiverse from being destroyed by the Be-yonder eventually, the Molecule Man destroyed the machine, there-by killing the infant within. The machine's destruction unleashed the Beyonder's titanic energy, which the Molecule Man projected into anot-er dimension. Hence the Beyonder's energy caused the creation of a new universe.

In this universe, the Beyonder was anything and everything. All of the religions therein were warped around him and he was the center of it all. Then the Fantastic Four, with the Thing, She-Thing, Human Torch, and Doctor Doom, showed up in his universe. This disturbed the Beyonder because he was finally content with his existence and wanted to forget about the other universe that he had once lived in. After easily subduing all of them, he ended up in a fight with the Shaper of Worlds and Kubik. After barely succeeding with the help of Molecule Man, he was told that his creation was actually the result of the creation of a faulty Cosmic Cube by the extra-dimensional Beyonders, and he finally submitted to being reshaped into a Cube, which evolved into the entity called Kosmos.

Upon the death of Kosmos the Be-yonder was free again, though at a much lower level of power than his previous incarnations. He began by reaching out through the multiverse and discovered the Incursions. Having also gained the attention of the Ivory Kings. The Ivory Kings wanted to end the experiment of the multi-verse.

The Beyonder relayed this information to the Shaper of Worlds. Together with Kubik they hoped to stop their creators from destroying all reality. They failed. They were engaged by a single Ivory King and defeated. During the battle a severely wounded Beyonder grasped for one last hope at existence. Realizing that the Ivory Kings were linear beings unable to travel back-wards in time, he sent his essence into the past.

The Beyonder merged with an ad-dict, Robert Reynolds. He became the Sentry personality. Unfortunately the merging was not perfect. It created 3 distinct personalities with in Robert. Robert himself, The Be-yonder as the Sentry, and the Beyonder’s madness as the Void. Robert was eventually subsumed by the Sentry personality, only coming out at times of extreme power loss.

HISTORY
Richard Grey, Jr. (AKA Thomas Wright) was the original Black Condor, a founding member of the Freedom Fighters. His power of flight was caused by exposure to a radioactive meteor, though he erroneously believed he had developed it naturally after being orphaned in the wilderness as a child and raised by a flock of wild Condors. Returning to civilization as an adult, he stumbled upon the murder of Senator Thomas Wright (to whom he bore an uncanny resemblance) and took on the dead man's identity. He began leading a double life as both Senator Wright and the crime busting Black Condor, eventually joining first the All-Star Squadron and then the Freedom Fighters, whom he fought alongside throughout World War II and afterwards.

His ultimate fate is unclear, but in recent years a ghostly apparition which appeared to be Grey/Wright began manipulating Ryan Kendall, the second Black Condor. He claimed at one point that he lived "with some friends, at the top of the world" but this remark was never explained.

Place of Birth: Morris, Park, Bronx, New York
Marital Status: Single
Known Relatives: Anita Cartelli (mother), Frank Cartelli (father, de-ceased)
Base of Operations: Mobile
Past Group Affiliations: Project Pegasus
Present Group Affiliation:

KNOWN POWERS:
Originally, Blue Shield derived his powers from the micro-circuitry-lined belt that he wore when in costume. The belt heightened his physical abilities and allowed him to project a personal force field. Over time, exposure to the belt (or perhaps its unknown power source) apparently mutated Cartelli's genetic structure to the point where he no longer needs the belt to use his powers. The origin, designer, and current status of the belt are unknown. Blue Shield displays these powers:
  • Force Field: Blue Shield is able to project a personal force field of AM (50) strength around his body. The field is impervious to all harmful gases and toxins while allowing Blue Shield to breathe normally. The field also provides him with IN (40) resistance to heat and cold-based attacks.
  • Lightning Speed: Blue Shield's heightened metabolism allows him to move at GD (10) land speed, 4 areas per round.
TALENTS: Martial Arts B, C, Acrobatics, Tumbling, and Law enforcement.

CONTACTS: Dazzler, She-Hulk, Captain America, Quasar, Project Pegasus, & the Avengers.

HISTORY
When Frank Cartelli was murdered, his son Joe vowed to avenge his father by waging war on crime. Acquiring a belt (from sources as yet unrevealed) that generated a force field, Joe fashioned an identity-concealing costume and went into action as the Blue Shield. In his civilian guise, he even worked his way into the crime syndicate, eventually becoming the assistant to the crime boss. He once had to help Alison Blaire (also known as the Dazzler against the crime boss Bo Brannigan who was controlling the Terror Tank. After the battle, Alison Blaire told him she was to give a message to Joey from his mother and Joey later visited his mother in hospital.

Joseph later attempted to join the Avengers, alongside Mechanaut, Speedball and Gladiatrix. When Captain America, who was trying them out for the team, was called away, Hydrobase, where the Avengers were then based, was visited by the Soviet Super Soldiers, who were considering defecting to the United States. Thinking the Soviets' appearance was a test, Joseph and the other auditionees attacked them, only to quickly lose the upper hand. Before they could be beaten, Captain America intervened and stopped the fight. Joseph and the other prospective Avengers were not offered membership.

Joseph later became the head of security for Project Pegasus, and briefly resigned from the job after he failed to stop an alien threat from the Omnivore (Omnivore killed fifteen of Blue Shield's security staffers before being stopped by Quasar), before taking up the role again, in time to confront the fugitive Angler.

After the Civil War, Joseph was considered as a potential recruit for the Initiative program.

Blue Shield has since been working alongside Jackpot, and has clashed with Spider-Man.

HISTORY
At some point in time, Darkseid managed to manufacture a clone of Kal-El in almost every facet. This clone had all of Kal's memories, including his upbringing with the Kents. However, it does not appear to have any memory of Val-Zod.

As Brutaal, the Superman clone fought the new Wonders and de-feated them alongside the other Hunger Dogs. He would then spare the heroes for an unknown reason and would go to Steppenwolf's aid during the World Army's invasion of Dherain. The new Wonders eventually returned after being healed by Doctor Fate and would help evacuate the remaining World Army Soldiers. The clone would soon aid Steppenwolf in his fight with Green Lantern and ended up defeating him. The clone then killed Steppenwolf, as the latter was declaring himself the master of Earth rather than Darkseid, and then removed his costume, making everyone mistakenly believe him to be the original Superman.

The clone continued his assault on the World Army's Arkham base, but soon came in to conflict with Doctor Fate who came to stop him. After a very brief battle Superman got the upper hand and managed to crack Fate's helmet. Just as he was about to kill Fate, the Flash arrived and took the beaten Fate back to the World Army's base. After defeating Fate, the Superman clone continued to attack the base and man-aged to cause most of it to cave-in. Just as he prepared to enter the destroyed base, Flash stepped in and tried to distract the clone, by forcing him to chase him. The clone eventually caught him, but spared him, saying that he could be useful to Darkseid. The clone eventually returned to Arkham with an unconscious Flash and told Mister Terrific and Terrence Sloan that Darkseid had need of them and then told Doctor Bedlam to release the horde of Parademons to attack Earth.

The clone, after releasing the Parademon horde, took Flash, Mister Terrific, and Sloan to Washington, D.C., where he took the Washing-ton Monument and threw it into the White House. The clone then declared that everyone should be thankful, for Darkseid had decided to make their Earth into the "New Apokolips" and he needed Sloan and Mr. Terrific's help to do it.

The clone later left Sloan and Terrific with Bedlam and continued with exterminating the remains of the World Army. The clone ended up in Moscow, where the remaining members of the World Army were be transported to safety by Sand-man. The World Army's Wonder the Atom tried to hold off the Superman clone, but was quickly defeated after the clone used his heat vision to remove Atom's right arm and used it to knock him. Even though he defeated Atom, the clone was unable to finish off the remaining World Army forces, who escaped through Sandman's portal.

After leaving Moscow, the clone met up with the Beguiler and dis-covered the Space Ark, which was the last hope for humanity to sur-vive, while the remaining people on Earth were left to die. Beguiler offered to destroy the ship, but was stopped by the clone, who decided to make an example. The clone then proceeded to break the ship open in the vacuum of space, killing all of the passengers inside. After killing all of the passengers, Bedlam contacted Superman and told him that he discovered Sloan was hiding a Kryptonian. The clone would then return to the location where they were holding Sloan and attempted to interrogate him, but he was stopped by Doctor Bedlam, who revealed that the Kryptonian's name is Val-Zod and he was held at the World Army's Arkham base. After seeing some footage of Val's es-cape, the clone notices Batman and mistakes him for Bruce Wayne. The clone then tells Bedlam to send some Parademons with him to Gotham believing that's where he will find Val.

Upon arriving in Gotham, the clone began to search for Val, whom he quickly found. The clone managed to overpower Val and attempted to kill him, but was stopped by Red Tornado, who revealed herself to be Lois Lane. After revealing herself to the clone she got hit by one of the Parademons' blasts, which then caused the clone to attack them and then goes back to evil berserk way before Lois snaps him out. The clone and Lois then leave and go to the Kent farm where Superman kills Pa Kent because he stood up against him and Darkseid.

When the clone clashes with Val-Zod, now wearing the symbol of the House of El, Val realizes that the clone was not the real Superman. He realizes the scars around the clone's eyes are not scars, but cracks in his skin. He cracks the skin to reveal a broken, haphazard being with an inverted House of El symbol. Lois destroys what is left of the clone and it decays into dust.

HISTORY
Born in 1925, James Buchanan Barnes lost both his parents early in his life; his mother had died when he was a child and his father had died in an accident while in basic training at Camp Lehigh shortly before Christmas in 1937. He was separated from his younger sister Rebecca, who was sent to boarding school while he persuaded officials into letting him remain at Camp Lehigh as a ward of the state due to sharing his father's love of the armed forces. He was eventually considered the camp mascot. During World War II, he set up a profit-able endeavor providing soldiers with various non-requisition sup-plies. He soon began to receive select assignments as a special military operative, having received hand-to-hand combat training with British Commandos under the tutelage of William Essart Fairbairn and Colonel Rex Applegate. It was possibly linked to operations conducted by the mysterious Romulus, a figure involved in worldwide espionage. He met and befriended a young and somewhat naive private Steven Rogers, who had recently become the government operative Captain America. He was assigned to ac-company Rogers, but was initially unaware of the true nature of his work. One night, Barnes happened into Rogers' tent just as he was changing to his masked identity. Sworn to secrecy, Barnes joined Captain America on his first mission against the Red Skull, freeing many Nazi prisoners. For several months afterward, Barnes underwent an intensive training program under Captain America's tutelage. When he finished, he received his own costumed identity as Bucky and was designated as a counter-example to Hitler Youth. Although he was able to work with his mentor for most of his missions, James was trained to carry out missions the government officials did not want Captain America to be openly involved in. He was cynical and slightly dubious of the idealistic Ste-ve Rogers, but they soon became the closest of friends.

When America entered World War II after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 1941, Captain America and Bucky abandoned their military identities for most of the war to devote their full energies to serving as costumed freedom fighters. They soon found themselves allied with the Sub-Mariner, the original Human Torch, and his young mutant partner Toro, in a team that Winston Churchill dubbed the Invaders. Bucky served Captain America and the Invaders capably and faithfully, leaving the team only temporarily in 1942 to organize and lead his own team of teenage soldiers, the Kid Commandos. Once, to rescue the Invaders from the Red Skull, Bucky assembled a team of costumed super-humans who operated on the home front, a group that would re-main together until the end of the war and was known as the Liberty Legion. He also worked with another group of teenagers, the Young Allies.

In late 1945, toward the end of the war, Captain America and Bucky were in London, England, on the trail of Nazi scientist Baron Heinrich Zemo. They discovered Zemo in the process of stealing an experimental drone plane built by the Allies. In the ensuing battle with Zemo's powerful humanoid robot, both Captain America and Bucky were rendered unconscious and strapped to the drone plane to be delivered to Hitler in Berlin. Unable to stand the sight of their patriotic costumes, Zemo dressed them in U.S. Army uniforms. Managing to escape be-fore Zemo activated the plane, the two American champions saw the drone plane begin to move just as they jumped off. Quickly, Captain America and Bucky grabbed a motorcycle and tried to catch up with it. Just before it flew out of reach, the two leaped for the plane. Bucky leaped first and managed to get a grip on the plane's wing. Captain America missed, and shouted to his partner to let go in case the plane was booby-trapped. Bucky was unable to comply with his partner's commands because his uniform sleeved snagged onto the cockpit of the plane. The plane exploded, seemingly killing Bucky instantly. Captain America plunged into the English Channel to undergo the process of suspended animation, but Bucky's remains were never recovered strengthening the belief that he was killed in action.

HISTORY
In 1942 Fred Davis was a bat-boy for the New York Yankees. The Invaders had been captured and brainwashed, leaving only Bucky free. As part of a plan to capture the mind-controlled heroes, Bucky asked Fred to impersonate him, which the patriotic lad did without hesitation.

Three years later, Bucky and Captain America were reportedly killed. President Truman realized that the news of their deaths could be a severe blow to allied morale and asked William Nasland, the hero known as the Spirit of '76, to assume the identity of Captain America and for Fred to once more wear the costume of Bucky and operate alongside the Invaders to maintain the pretense that America's premiere heroes were still alive. The new Captain America and Bucky finished the rest of the war and continued to fight crime with the All-Winners Squad. Naslund was killed in 1946 fighting the android Adam II, and Captain America's identity passed to Jeffrey Mace, the Patriot.

Davis assisted Mace until 1948, when he was shot and wounded, forcing him to retire and leaving him with a permanent limp.

In 1951, Davis joined the V-Battalion, a secret organization that hunted war criminals, and eventually became one of its leaders on the Penance Council. He served the V-Battalion in both a leadership role in the Penance Council, and as an engineer.

  • The Super Soldier variant he was injected with is degrading and his immune system was going haywire. Jack spent most of his life battling mentally in-stability.
EQUIPMENT:

TALENTS: Acrobatics; Espionage; Martial Arts: A, B, C, D, E

CONTACTS: Captain America, SHIELD

HISTORY
Jack was born on December 7, 1941 in Clutier, Iowa, on the day that Imperial Japan launched their attack on Pearl Harbor, signaling the United States official entry into World War II. Jack grew up in a town of Nazi sympathizers, and he and his sister were beaten by their parents. In 1944, Jack discovered that his father secretly kept Nazi paraphernalia. Furious that the boy could jeopardize their family secret, Jack's father beat him. By 1949, Jack lived a relatively normal life outside of his abuse and the secret the town kept. He and his friends bullied an overweight boy named Bartholomew Ingrid, whom they teased by calling Ingrid Bergman. One day Bartholomew stood up to Jack by fighting back but Jack easily beat him. The young boy fled the fight vowing to get revenge against Jack. Not long after, Jack secretly grabbed a swastika armband from his father's collection and took it to school for show and tell. He was taken to the principal's office and the FBI was alerted. His parents were arrested and executed as traitors. The FBI uncovered the entire town's Nazi secret. Due to the trauma of the abuse and the arrest of his parents, Jack and his sister, like all the children in town, were separated from their families and placed into foster homes. Jack sup-pressed these memories.

Jack was relocated to a foster home, not much is known about his activities in the following years. By 1953, Jack was living in New York City where he attended the Lee School. He took an avid interest into the lives of Captain America and his partner Bucky. Jack idolized Cap's young sidekick so much that he began calling himself Bucky, who disappeared and were presumed dead in 1945. While attending the school he was taught by William Burnside, who had legally changed his name to Steve Rogers, and get-ting plastic surgery to resemble the original Captain America in a failed attempt to get the government backing him as the next Captain America. "Steve Rogers", learning of Jack's love of Captain America, he confided in the boy and told him that he had also redeveloped the Super Soldier Serum from Nazi documents. Jack tried to convince William to become the new Captain America, even making him a costume, but Burnside decided to hon-or the government's wishes that Captain America was not needed at that time. This changed on the day that the communist Red Skull at-tacked the United Nations Building in New York City, "Rogers" decided that it was time for Captain America and Bucky to return. When they arrived at the UN Building, Burnside injected himself with the Super Soldier Serum and decided to give Jack an injection as well. The two were enhanced by the Super-Soldier Serum being given enhanced strength on top of being brought to their physical peaks. The pair then successfully defeated the Red Skull. However unknown to the two at the time, their Super Soldier treatment was incomplete without a needed bombardment of Vita-Rays, the repercussions of which would not be realized until over a year into their careers as Captain America and Bucky.

Believed to be the original Captain America and Bucky, the two heroes found themselves welcomed by both law enforcement and government. They were asked by the military to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to prevent a new experimental atomic bomb trigger from falling into communist hands, and prevented it from being taken by the Execution-er. Next Captain America was contacted by Dr. Standish to give lectures about the dangers of communism. Cap and Bucky were unaware that Standish was really a communist spy seeking to inject Captain America with a drug that would make him a loyal communist. Deducing this, the Super Soldier Serum in Cap's body neutralized the drug and Cap played along with Standish, giving pro-communist lectures and even going so far as to destroy an American military base in Alaska to earn his trust and at-tacking Standish's leaders and sending them fleeing back to Russia.

The Red Skull soon returned to trouble Captain America and Bucky again, this time capturing the pair and trying to force Cap into showing him the location of a secret government facility. Instead, Cap tricked the Red Skull's minions into crashing their truck and the Red Skull was seemingly slain in the crash. However this Red Skull, like his predecessor, would prove hard to kill. By this time Burnside and Monroe had left the Lee School and enlisted in the army where they met Betsy Ross who was a retired government agent who worked with the previous Captain America and now a reporter. Ross was unimpressed by this new "Steve Rogers", but soon sought Captain America's help when she stood to face treason charges when she was accused of leaking government secrets. Captain America and Bucky revealed that it was really her photographer and editor who were the real communist spies, clearing Betsy's name. Deployed to a neutral country courting both sides of the Cold War, "Rogers" and "Bucky" exposed a plot by the Secretary of War to try and discredit the American Embassy for his communist benefactors. Relocated to Indochina on their tour of duty, they learned that communist agents were drugging American prisoners of war and forcing them to make pro-communist radio broadcasts. As Captain America and Bucky the pair smashed this operation. The pair were next relocated to Egypt where they were invited into the home of American loving millionaire Adu Bey, and as Captain America and Bucky ex-posed communist agents working out of Bey's family tomb.

Returning to the United States, the pair investigated communist activities along shipping routes and ex-posed a ship captain as a com-munist agent smuggling supplies to communist spies in South Africa. Returning home they stopped communist spies from forcing the inventor of a new atomic sub to give over his plans by threatening his blind son. In New York's Chinatown, the pair assisted Detective Wing search for the communist agent known as the Man with No Face who was blackmailing Chinese-Americans to send money back to communist China or their loved ones back home would face torture. Captain America clashed with the Man with No Face, learning that he was the detective’s twin brother Philip. Preferring death over capture Philip Wing threw himself off a building to his death and Cap decided to keep his true identity a secret. Due to their heroics, Captain America and Bucky were awarded the key to New York City by the mayor. When news that North Ko-rean prisoners of war were poisoning themselves to make America look bad, Captain America and Bucky traveled to Korea to administer an antidote and expose the plot.

Stationed in Korea in their capacity in the military, "Steve Rogers" and "Bucky" were assigned to transport released prisoners of war home, including Tim Potter who unknown to them was drugged by his captors to weaken his courage. The pair sprang into action as Captain America and Bucky when they were at-tacked by gorilla forces but ended up being captured. Thankfully for them, Tim snapped out of drugged conditioning and helped rescue them. While still in Korea, the pair failed to stop a communist spy from fleeing into China with a list of defectors from the Korean War. Sneaking into China as Captain America and Bucky, they recovered the list, apparently with the help of the mystical Green Dragon.

Returning State side, Captain America and Bucky came home to a parade being thrown in their hon-or in New York City. The celebration was marred when the Russians sent their operative Electro to try and kill the two heroes. The pair overloaded Electro's powers seemingly killing the foe. When communist agent Chuck Blaine used his public notoriety to plant a bomb in the UN Building that threatened to destroy half of New York City. Captain America and Bucky forced a confession out of Blaine and disarmed the bombs before they could go off. Not long after this, the Red Skull revived Electro and attacked the UN Building in an attempt to recover Adolf Hitler's strong box, which reportedly contained the plans to a secret weapon. Captain America and Bucky rushed to stop them, foiling the Red Skull and seemingly slaying Electro again.

By about 1955, the impurities in their Super Soldier treatment be-came apparent: Both Captain America and Bucky were becoming paranoid schizophrenics, beginning to see "communist spies" in just about anybody, in particular visible minorities attacking African-Americans in the Harlem and Watts area. Learning of this the United States government intervened and attempted convince Cap and Bucky to surrender, but they refused forcing the government to neutralize the pair and place them in cryogenic suspension.

HISTORY
Franklin Richards was the target of a reborn Onslaught, who planned to kill Franklin so that he could more easily take over the main Marvel reality. Franklin revealed a green orb; this contained a copy of the Heroes Reborn universe that he had created so he had somewhere to escape to. Despite being identical to the previous Heroes Reborn universe, all the heroes were native to this new pocket Earth. Here he met another version of Rikki Barnes, this reality's version of Bucky. She helped the heroes of this world defeat Onslaught. During the fight with Onslaught, both Rikki and Onslaught were trapped in the Negative Zone, with Rikki assuming she was going to die.

Within the Negative Zone, however, both Onslaught and Rikki survived. Onslaught became aware of a small tear in reality that lead to the main Marvel Earth, but didn't have enough power to transport all of his energy there. Instead, he possessed Rikki, wiping her memory of the time after she was transported to the Negative Zone and sent her through the hole in the Negative Zone to Philadelphia, planning to use her as a tether to eventually return to his home reality.

Rikki, unaware of the portion of Onslaught that she carried inside her, attempted several times to con-tact the current Captain America, who, unbeknownst to her, was James Buchanan Barnes, the 616 counterpart to her own grandfather. Rikki, while still using the identity of Bucky, ran into the Young Avengers member Patriot. Eventually Rikki came to the attention of James Barnes' girlfriend, the Black Widow, who told Rikki to not contact the current Captain America.

Later, Black Widow gave Rikki a new version of the Nomad costume. Rikki began to fight crime under the name Nomad. During her adventures, she met the hero Araña, and the two became fast friends and crime-fighting partners, eventually revealing their civilian identities to each other. Nomad also finally met with this reality's version of Steve Rogers, who had vague memories of his time in the original Heroes Reborn reality.

During one adventure, Nomad and Araña battled the Bastards of Evil, a group of young super villains claiming to be the illegitimate children of the world's most dangerous criminals. Eventually the girls are captured by the Bastards, who planned to kill the two young superheroes and broadcast their executions on the internet and television. Other young heroes rescued the girls, including Gravity, Firestar and El Toro. With their combined efforts, they were able to defeat and cap-ture the Bastards.

After defeating the Bastards, No-mad suggested that the heroes group together and form a new superhero team; the other heroes, however, seemed reluctant, especially when Nomad suggested Young Allies as a name for the group. Still, the five became fast friends, and El Toro even became Rikki's roommate, with Rikki at-tempting to teach Benito English and Benito teaching her Spanish. Rikki secretly held some romantic feelings for Benito, due to a previous relationship with his counterpart in her universe.

Soon after Benito moved in with her, Rikki began to have nightmares about a powerful entity attacking her in Colombia. After El Toro was kidnapped by El Dragon, Rikki along with the other Young Allies and the Secret Avengers investigated an abandoned Roxxon facility in the South American country. Once there, Onslaught revealed himself, possessing Rikki's body and attempting to use the energy he had stored in her as an anchor to pull himself back into the main Marvel Earth. Revealing to Rikki that she had been sent here solely to serve as his tether, she began to fight back. Eventually, Rikki had Gravity seemingly kill her so that Onslaught could not return and destroy Earth.

Despite the fact that Rikki seemingly died, Steve Rogers began to have nightmares similar to the ones Rikki had before, suggesting that enough of Nomad's (and Onslaught's) energy may have survived to escape death and now seek a new way to return to the main Marvel reality.

KNOWN POWERS:
Inter-dimensional Energy Conduit: Formerly his abilities are powered by inter-dimensional energies which are concentrated around the British Isles of each reality and also in Otherworld; moving too far away from the field will cause eventual power loss unless a power-enhancing costume is worn.

Currently, Brian's powers are sustained by his own confidence and heritage as the son of a denizen of Otherworld. Thus, the more confident he is, the greater his powers are and vice versa.
  • Flight: Shift X (150) Speed.
  • Force Field - Personal: Amazing (50) rank
EQUIPMENT:
Captain Britain's Uniform: stores inter-dimensional energies, acting as a battery for when he is away from the matrix which surrounds the British Isles. His costume has also at times been able to generate a protective force field (originally, this power came from his quarterstaff) and a more recent version is also able to adopt a 'stealth mode' which helps him operate more unobtrusively.

TALENTS: Acrobatics; Engineer-ing; Martial Arts: A, B, C; Physics

CONTACTS: X-Men, Avengers, Illuminati

HISTORY
Brian Braddock was born at the Braddock Manor, his family's ancestral home in the town of Maldon, Essex, England. He was the son of Lord James Braddock and Lady Elizabeth Braddock. He grew up with his twin sister Betsy Braddock and his older brother James Braddock, Jr.

Brian was a graduate student in physics, in advance of his years, at London's Thames University. His parents had been killed years be-fore by a creation of his father, the Mastermind computer. Working under his mentor Dr. Travis at the Darkmoor Research Center during the holidays, he was present when the mercenary Reaver and his men raided the facility to kidnap the scientists there. Escaping with the intention to get help, Brian fled on a motorbike, but was run off the road.

Bleeding to death, Brian was approached by Merlin and his daughter Roma, who told him that he could live if he became Britain's next great champion. They offered Brian a choice: The Amulet of Right (Life) or the Sword of Might (Death). Being a scholar and not conceiving of himself as a warrior, Brian chose the Amulet.

He then became Captain Britain, complete with costume and super-powers, as well as a staff, which was later replaced by Merlin with a 'Star Sceptre' that enabled him to fly. Moments later, the Reaver arrived and, claiming the sword, was transformed into an armored knight with tremendous strength. Captain Britain nonetheless defeated him, meeting his first challenge as a hero with courage and surprising skill.

Over the next few months, Brian battled such foes as the Vixen, Hurricane, the Mastermind computer, Lord Hawk, Doctor Claw, Dr. Synne, the Highwayman and the Manipulator (Basil Crushstone), the Lurker from Loch Ness, Nykonn, the Black Baron and the assassin Slaymaster as well as teaming up with Steve Rogers against the Red Skull. His activities made him popular with the public, which became especially apparent when he was believed killed in an air raid, though he was considered a vigilante by the police. This was especially true for Chief Inspector Dai Thomas, who dedicated himself to capturing and unmasking Captain Britain. Thomas's subordinate, Detective Inspector Kate Fraser, was more sympathetic to the novice hero.

Eventually, Brian came to America on a study abroad program. By a strange twist of fate, he ended up rooming with Spider-Man at Empire State University. Parker also had a secret identity, namely Spider-Man, and after battling the assassin Arcade together, the two began meeting for nightly patrols and training; Peter quickly deduced that his English roommate was also the new English hero in town, but Brian remained unaware that Spider-Man was his roommate. Brian began to drink heavily, and it affected his performance both as a student and as a hero, but soon stopped after inadvertently inflicting serious injuries on an opponent because he had fought them in an inebriated state.

Returning to Britain, Brian was subjected to a psychic attack while travelling on a plane over the English Channel. He jumped from the plane and was washed ashore on the coast of Cornwall, where he lived for some months as an amnesiac hermit until he was found by Dane Whitman, the Black Knight, who restored his memories and accompanied him to Otherworld to save Camelot from the evil Mordred and the demon lord Necromon at the behest of Merlin. During the course of this adventure, Brian died but was resurrected by Merlin.

Also at some point during this period, Captain Britain and the Black Knight were both briefly abducted by the Grandmaster to participate in his 'Contest of Champions', but were subsequently apparently re-turned to their former place and time with no memory of the event.

Once this mission was completed, Captain Britain and an elf named Jackdaw were apparently sent home by Merlin, but accidentally ended up on a parallel Earth (after colliding with the Time traveler Ralf in the void) where they met the mysterious Saturnyne and fought the insane mutant Mad Jim Jaspers. Jackdaw and Brian were both killed by the cyborg monster called The Fury, but Brian was resurrected by Merlin again, this time on his own Earth, where he and a number of others including his sister Betsy, the dimensionally displaced Captain UK, Saturnyne and the alien mercenaries known as the Special Executive successfully defeated both the Fury and Earth 616's version of Jaspers (the other version, and his entire dimension, were later erased from existence by the Dimensional Development Court). Merlin was seemingly killed in the final battle.

Sometime later, Brian gave up the Captain Britain identity, allowing his sister Betsy to take up the mantle. Unfortunately, Betsy was unprepared to be Captain Britain, and lost her eyes in a battle with Slaymaster. Brian felt his twin's pain through her telepathy and a special bond they share, and rushed back to fight Slaymaster, whom he then killed. Brian then resumed the mantle of Captain Britain, and fought evil as Britain's premier superhero.

Then, when the X-Men appeared to die in Dallas (see “Fall of the Mutants”), Brian was disconsolate over his sister's death. He drank heavily, and scared away his lover Meggan, who went to find Nightcrawler, an acquaintance of hers on Muir Is-land. Meggan arrived at the same time as the Technet, an interdimensional band of mercenaries who were looking for Phoenix (Rachel Summers). When Meggan and Shadowcat were captured by the Technet, Nightcrawler went to enlist Captain Britain's aid. However, Kurt found Brian deep in a drunken stupor, completely depressed and un-interested in doing anything any-more. So Nightcrawler pitched Brian over the edge of his lighthouse's balcony and into the ocean. When Brian recovered and flew back, Nightcrawler convinced him to help him find the women. At the successful conclusion of that mission, Cap joined with the other mutants to form Excalibur, Britain's premier super-team.

When Phoenix abruptly rushed to America when New York was engulfed in the Inferno, Excalibur fol-lowed. After his costume was destroyed, Captain Britain discovered that his powers were linked to Britain, and would diminish if he left he country for too long. This weakness was partially alleviated when Excalibur went dimension-hopping during the Cross-Time Caper when Captain Britain received the magical costume of Captain Marshall (the Captain Britain of that world) which acted as a battery for his arcane power.

Months later, Brian suddenly began to grow larger as his body absorbed more and more energy as different realities came into alignment, heralding a Cosmic Convergence. The team learned that Necrom was planning to use the convergence to become omnipotent, but using Shadowcat's powers the team merged into Brian's enormous body and fixed the damage Necrom was doing across the multiverse. Then, on Roma's secret cue, Meggan drained Brian of all his excess energy, returning him to normal size, and fired it at the tower which was the linchpin through all the dimensions of the multiverse.

Brian and Meggan took some time off from the team and got engaged, but they and the rest of Excalibur were soon captured by the R.C.X. and Brian was severely beaten when he resisted. Dying, broken and bloody, he was healed by Roma, who fixed the arcane circuitry in his costume to match his body's frequencies, and who also removed a "blunder factor" she had cast over him, ensuring that he would need the help of a team until he saw the innate value in it.

Immediately afterwards, Phoenix reappeared and Excalibur journeyed to the future to save it from the Sentinels. Unfortunately, on the way back Brian was lost in the time-stream. No one had a clue how to find him until his body parts started appearing in the same space as Rachel's, first his arms, then his chest, for brief flickers. Meggan confronted Rachel about Brian's whereabouts and with Daytripper's help they opened a rift in which Brian and Rachel switched places. Rachel was flung to the far future to become the Mother Askani, and Brian returned home. However, he was flooded with memories of the far future and seemed disconnected for the real world. He called himself Britanic for some time, but eventual-ly re-acclimated himself to his old life.

After receiving a message of impending danger from Jean Grey, who had found Alistaire Stuart running from Black Air, and one from Shinobi Shaw regarding Mountjoy's infiltration into the London Hellfire Club, Brian went to the Club and claimed his father's position as Black Bishop, defeating the con-tender for Red Bishop with one punch. When Black Air and the Club made their move, Brian was attacked by the Black Queen and Scribe, who was possessed by Mountjoy. Luckily, Brian was in his newly-refurbished costume, complete with projectable force-field, and he defeated them both.

He appeared to have come to terms with both his scientific and superhero sides. Soon afterwards, however, in a battle with the Dragons of the Crimson Dawn, Brian expended all of his power to stop a dimensional portal from opening. He left the team for a while, but returned to fulfill his dream of marrying Meggan. At the ceremony on Other-world, the rest of the team decided to return to the States, so Excalibur disbanded, leaving Captain Britain and Meggan as Britain's foremost heroes.

Brian soon went back to work at the Darkmoor research facility, and it was during one of his tests (on the new blade and armor of his friend the Black Knight) that Widget reappeared with warriors who attacked him and Meggan, tracking Captain U.K. stating that Roma ordered it done.

The heroes (including Psylocke, who was also visiting in England) drove the attackers off, then fol-lowed them to Otherworld, where they discovered that that Captain Britain Corps had been decimated. Together with the survivors, Crusader X and Captain U.K., Brian and his comrades had to stop Roma, using his troop who revealed to be the R.C.X. Warpies and Cherubims tortured and modified as soldiers, from acquiring the Sword of Might, Excalibur, which together with the Amulet of Right (which had returned to Otherworld when Brian lost his powers) could remake the cosmos. Brian went in search of the sword, and ended up finding a computer-filled shrine in a cavern built by his father.

A hologram of James Braddock, Sr. explained to Brian that he was the savior and rightful heir of Other-world, and had the innate right to wield Excalibur. The hologram re-activated Brian's powers, and Brian drew the sword, which generated a fiery St. Andrew's Cross (from the British flag) as a mask on his face. Brian then confronted Roma, who was revealed to be his father's sentient and insane computer Master-mind, and defeated him together with the real Roma. Roma then relinquished control of Otherworld to Captain Britain, and he and Meg-gan remained in Otherworld as effective rulers of the multiverse, with as first action their use of the Excalibur sword to restore the integrity and humanity of the Warpies. Unbeknownst to Brian, the events leading up to his assumption of the Otherworld were orchestrated by Kang the Conqueror and Widget, for reasons yet to be revealed.

Recently, Brian and Meggan appeared to Kelsey Leigh, a British mother who had died protecting her kids and Captain America from the Wrecking Crew with Captain America's own shield, and offered her the choice between the Amulet and the Sword, making her into a new Captain Britain upon her choice of Excalibur. Brian himself was captured by Morgan le Fay, who hoped to kill him, thereby destroying Britain via Brian's mystical connection with the land, but since his power was transferred to Kelsey, the plan failed.

After discussions with Doom and Namor, the Black Panther and his wife Storm tried to recruit Brian in their movement against the US Super-Human Registration Act.

He declined the proposition and was flustered by Ororo for his complaisant attitude toward the system. He also claimed the return of the Ebony Blade as part of the British legacy, but this was denied by T'Challa, as it was been used by the Vatican's Black Knight against him (the Sword was later given back to Dane Whitman by Storm).

Captain Britain was forced to come back to Earth to stop the House of M reality from coming into existence. During this time, his wife Meggan apparently sacrificed her life to save a rip in time from destroying the Earth. This had result-ed in Brian becoming active as Captain Britain again and the formation of the all new Excalibur, along with Pete Wisdom, Sage, Juggernaut, Dazzler and Nocturne.

During the Secret Invasion Captain Britain and MI-13 believed that the Skrulls planned to invade Avalon through the Siege Perilous. In tak-ing the magical realm of Avalon the Skrulls would control the Earth's magic. To keep this from happening Brian tried to stop a Skrull nuclear missile head on by sacrificing him-self. As British military, MI-6 and Avalon where making their last stand Merlin resurrected Braddock. Immediately Brian entered Avalon and pulled out Excalibur from the stone. Upon arriving at Britain’s last line of defense attacked the Super-Skrull Commander. After the battle going in favor of both sides Brian threw the final blow. At the same moment Satannish, who had given Wisdom one wish in exchange for letting him free on Earth, destroyed all Skrulls in the British Isles and any that have and will try to enter.

Following the events of the Skrull invasion, as the new members of MI-13 attempted to adjust and Brian began to grasp how his new powers worked, they were sent to assist Captain Midlands, who was investigating one of the threats that Pete Wisdom had unleashed to defeat the Skrulls, Plokta.[citation needed] MI13 later went on to defeat the vampire lord Dracula's attempt at subjugating Britain, and are currently Britain's first line of defense, with Captain Britain and the now recovered Meggan firmly at the heart of the team.

During an international meeting between Commander Rogers and MI13, Captain Britain was offered a job with the Avengers. Captain Britain accepted despite mixed reactions from his MI13 teammates. He was first made a reserve member, before later being made an official member of the secret team of the Avengers.

Otherworld came under attack by a mysterious force, led by a Goat-Demon, who revealed later to be an aspect of his brother's personality, Jamie Braddock.

Sharing Psylocke's memories during X-Force's confrontation against Archangel, thanks to their siblings links, he saw the murder of the Apocalypse boy by Fantomex and organized his abduction, leading a Captain Britain Corps' commando.

He also abducted Psylocke to make her again a member of the Corps, to defend Otherworld.

Brian intended to make Fantomex pay for his crime, but also to wipe him off the Multiverse, seeing as a unique and dangerous anomaly (although we know a few alternate, but all from the future).

When Psylocke finally discovered the identity of the invader, she ordered Brian to kill Jamie, and facing his hesitation, she took the control of his body and made him kill his older brother.

When it was revealed that the Phoenix was heading towards Earth, Braddock was a member of the Avengers sub-team led by Thor to stop it.

Captain Britain and an army of British heroes defeated Mys-Tech/Techno-Wizards in battle; the agency came close to sending all of Britain to Hell in order to pay off their debts to Mephisto. Following the battle, S.H.I.E.L.D. was secretly called in to clean up the remains of Mys-Tech's bases and technology as MI-13 didn't have the resources to do it. Brian was made a member of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s European Division. Years later, Pete Wisdom learned about this and sarcastically re-marked he was proud that Brian was acting like him.

Brian, MI-13, and S.H.I.E.L.D. began investigating a suspected re-turn of Mys-Tech but he was swiftly beaten down and captured by Death's Head II. This was actually a ruse by Death's Head II to plant a tracking device and find out why the Psycho-Wraiths wanted the Captain (he didn't bother to tell Brian).

The Prime Wraith wanted the hero to be part of six living batteries for a monotrace core, opening a portal to Hell for Mephisto's armies (led by the brainwashed hero Killpower) to ravage the Earth. Captain Britain was freed and fought to hold back the Demons, and tried to find a so-lution other than killing Killpower. "We're heroes, we don't kill--" was all he could say before Killpower was gunned down by the anti-heroes Major Hauer, Death's Head, and Colonel Liger. Afterwards, on a whim Captain Britain placed a union flag on top of a damaged Big Ben, deciding that surviving the battle gave them "the right to celebrate a little".

When the Captain Britain Corps began actively investigating the reality-destroying phenomena known as incursions, they managed to capture a Mapmaker and experiment on it. Saturnyne had the Corps turn the Mapmaker into a beacon to lure their creators, and possibly whoever was behind the incursions. The Ivory Kings sent all of their forces against the Corps, and they were destroyed in a matter of hours. Before being cast out of Otherworld to Earth-616 by Saturnyne, Brian Braddock, who had lost an eye in the fight, was embedded with all the secrets of the Citadel.

After returning to Earth-616, he joined the Illuminati to work with them on finding a solution to the incursions, and went into hiding with them due to the Avengers being on the hunt for them.

Sometime after the incursions problem had been neutralized, Braddock became the leader of the Champions of Europe, one of the several superhero teams that gathered after Steve Rogers revealed himself to be a Hydra sleeper agent and established a Hydra Empire in the United States of America. His team fought valiantly alongside Enigma (Aikku Jokinen) and Squirrel Girl (Doreen Green) against the Hydra takeover and, after Roger's regime was overthrown, they sought to eliminate the remaining Hydra terror cells.

When all was taken care of, he somehow regained his missing eye and had a child alongside Meggan. Because of this, he rebuilt the old Braddock Lighthouse in order to provide his daughter with a decent environment to grow.
