Tough Stuff doesn't have the Perception bonus that would be needed to hit 25, but I assume she'd be rushing in?

You should probably roll anyway, the GM might be basing whatever is about to happen on our respective degrees of failure, but there’s also the chance of you getting a Natural 20.

If you roll a 20 on the die when making a check you’ve scored a critical success. Determine the degree of success normally and then increase it by one degree. This would turn your zero degrees of success into one degree of success.

Huh. I couldn't find that the last time I was searching (I had a case where I'd rolled a 20 on a Toughness save and I couldn't remember if 3E had a rule for that), although that was probably because I was looking at Damage and Resistance Checks.

But indeed, Critical Success.

Fancy that... Was trying to post last night, but my net connection cut out on my computer so it never went through. |P

For the record, I had abstained from rolling on the very basis of it being impossible.

Which honestly... it feels a bit like the Natural 20 Crit situation where 5% of the time everyone hits, and when they do, it's devastating (which is part of the reason defense shifting can go so badly, with even the best of defenses generally hit on a 20, and then hit with even more damage). 25 is a significant result. *shrug* But, that said, it only happens so often, and I guess it does fit in with a superhero game that 1 in a million odds happen 5% of the time.

Well, a critical success on a skill check only adds one degree of success... if the threshold for the check requires more than that, you’re still borked.

Oh, that is true. Probably not a factor here, but that at least assuages my fear that Joe Superschmoe will hit a 20 and suddenly know the villain's blood type, weak points, and embarrassing middle name. :-P
