Intrepid
Condition: Normal
HP: 1

Intrepid entered with a group of Legionnaires, and support staff. She smiled and nodded as she broke away from them to sit next to Horus.

"How are you holding up?" She asks, extending a hand. "My name's Lauren. I go by Intrepid in honor of my uncle, Mon'El's son.

"And about holding up, being in this era I mean. I've been wanting to ask, if you want to talk about it, why you were floating out in space like that?"

She seems a little unconcerned with the imminent mission briefing.

"Main reason I ask is, I'm wondering if you have some kind of temporal shielding. The trance you were in, stasis or whatever you want to call it, it prevented you from aging for almost a thousand years. I think your arrival here could be a good thing."

She pulls out an omnipad.

"Looking forward to working with you. New faces might just be what we need. peaking of which, where's that speedster? Don't tell me I'm faster than her."

RedStreak

When Erica walked into the room, she seemed to be in her own little world until she crossed the threshold of the door to see that two people were already in the room. “Oh.” she muttered as she looked at the other two. “Ok, I guess I am in the right place.”

Erica Lynn walked over to the table and took a seat as she eyed the room. “I guess I am not late and that’s a good thing. I kind of wish I was the first one here to avoid that whole new kid in class look when I walk into the room though. Does anybody know why we're here?"

Hawkangel

He'd been leaning against the wall, arms crossed in the unapproachable demeanor of his mother's people, but approached nonetheless he was.
"How are you holding up?" She asks, extending a hand. "My name's Lauren. I go by Intrepid in honor of my uncle, Mon'El's son.
Shrugging himself off the wall, he dropped his arms in the typical Terran body posture of relaxed openness before accepting her hand.

"Horus...Hawkangel." he replied. He was considering what to say next when she just continued plowing through.

"And about holding up, being in this era I mean. I've been wanting to ask, if you want to talk about it, why you were floating out in space like that?"

She seems a little unconcerned with the imminent mission briefing.
Again he was about to reply, but barely had the thoughts been formed before she piled more onto the plate...
"Main reason I ask is, I'm wondering if you have some kind of temporal shielding. The trance you were in, stasis or whatever you want to call it, it prevented you from aging for almost a thousand years. I think your arrival here could be a good thing."

She pulls out an omnipad.
Well, she certainly was a chipper one. It took the glowing distraction of her screen to get her to slow down...if only for a moment.
"Looking forward to working with you. New faces might just be what we need. peaking of which, where's that speedster? Don't tell me I'm faster than her."
Finally, a pause in her relentless assault!

"If she speaks any faster than you, we'll barely be able to comprehend her," Horus spoke, almost too quickly himself for fear of another interjection. He didn't seem annoyed however, but rather bemused.

"My wings saved me." From his back golden blades sprouted but he didn't expand them completely...just a hint of metal feathers before retracting them once more. "I didn't even realize they could do that, but...they do seem to have some sort of sentience."

"The answer to why I was adrift...I fell in battle, against the Phoenix Force. I'd have perished were it not for the Nth-metal in my body. As to how that's possible...was it a temporal effect, who can say? Not even Apocalypse, with the technology of the Celestials, really knew what he was working with...I daresay the Thanagarians themselves do not fully understand the secrets of their metal."

"I don't blame my friends for abandoning the search...nothing should have been able to survive the utter immolation of the Phoenix. But I did, cocooned in my wings, dreaming my way homeward for an entire millennium...to be honest, I'm still in shock."

He paused. "You said your uncle is from the House of El...are you Kryptonian?"

Meanwhile, the red costumed girl who came in certainly looked the part of a Flash. "Is that the Speedster you were looking for?" he asked.

Maverick
Status: Stealthy
Feeling: Amused
HP: 1

Maverick watched the others enter, silent, observant, gathering information. It was more a compulsion than anything else, after all, pretty much everything mentioned thus far was not new news to him. Mostly he wanted to see how many of his new teammates he could startle by suddenly appearing.

Not exactly invisible, so much as he used his talents and skills to remain in the groups collective blind spots to remain unseen, so long as he made no sudden movements. Instead, he moved with fluid grace, slowly, but surely, and only when necessary. Honestly, it was more like a game to him at the moment, seeing how long he could remain hidden from the gathering team. He figured if they all arrived without any of them spotting him, he won. Three down.... two to go.

"Hm?" She had been listening and speaking, but the question caught her off guard. "Mon-El? he's Daxamite, not Kryptonian. But... I wonder..." Her hand flies over the omnipad, punching commands and searching. Her eyes follow the command so quickly that she seems to be staring vacantly at the screen.

"Excuse me, I need to enter this into the algorithms."

In a heartbeat or two, she's back.

"That would be the one." She says with a smile.

Saturn Woman enters the room.

"Good afternoon, I know what you're all thinking." She says with a smile as she looks around the room, counting heads.

Xao, would you be so kind as to join us? She mentally calls their team leader. You and Rokk need to mend some fences. We need you both right now.

She gestures to the wall, and reaches for Intrepid's omnipad.

"But you are not going to Vega." She continues her train of thought as if the mental summons did not interrupt her. "Brainiac seems to think that you - any of you - coming into contact with earlier versions of yourselves is not a good idea. No, sadly, I have a worse mission for you.

"We need you to go to Apokolips. We doubt a connection, but we need to be insure there is none."
She looks over the omnipad as it pings. Her eyebrows rise and she looks over the data. While she was speaking, the wall lights up and you see an image of the home of Darkseid appears. Most of the firepits are mere shells, deep glowing embers of fading fury. The planet looks like it can't support life.

"Good idea, Lauren. Have the addition to your uniform made immediately.

"And Horus, I'd like to officially welcome you to this century and the Legion. I hope Intrepid's assertions and hypothesis about your temporal inertia prove to be accurate. It would be extremely useful in our current situation."

Redstreak
Redstreak’s eyes widened as she looked at the image of Apokolips. It was void of sunlight, nature, or anything that she would deem regular or normal. “Crap, we’re going to hell.” She muttered under her breath. As Redstreak continued to look at the image she shifted in her seat while leering at the image.

Erica Lynn remembered the name Apokolips in some of the conversations that she’d overheard between Barry and her Father. But, the details that she did manage to hear did not compare to actually seeing this place.
“I know it’s not my place to speak out of turn, but from what I know, Apokolips is not the place you send people to just to check and make sure nothing is happening. How sure are you that there is something there to risk life and limb for? We go there, get eyes on us only to fight tooth and nail and then….we find nothing. Are you positively sure that there might be something there worth checking out? If so, hell yeah sign me up.”

Saturn Woman smiles at Redstreak.

"Contrary to what many think, I do not read the thoughts of others without invitation. So, it pleases me to hear you say that Erica Lynn.

"Unfortunately, we hope that we are sending you on a wild goose chase as the old vernacular goes. Hoping, but not expecting. Apokolips will be dangerous with or without Darkseid's presence."

She sighs, noting that Dragonmage has not made an appearance.

"And I want you all to be aware, Dragonmage is held in high regard by many in the Legion. Myself included. We are not assigning you to a fool`s errand, we do not consider you expendable. Quite the contrary. Whatever Xao may think, and whatever he and Rokk have not resolved, you are all Legionnaires in good standing.

"However, we need you to depart soon, and if he does not join us quickly, we will be forced to assign or choose a new field leader. I believe Maverick to be the logical choice."

Maverick
Status: Visible
Feeling: A little smug
HP: 1

And he took that as his moment to make his presence actually known in the room, seeming to step off the wall as if he had been there the entire time, just not seen, which is essentially accurate. "I'll remember you said that, Imra." he says as he flashes her a wink. Of course, of everyone in the room, Imra was the most likely to have known he was actually there, if not able to necessarily pin point him.

"So we're to head to Apokolips, and snoop out any secret plots. Literally my specialty." he glances around the room at the others, knowing more about them than they would probably feel comfortable knowing about. "Incidentally, I'm Maverick. Just Maverick, no other name I am aware of. You can call me Mav if you need something shorter. My power is essentially a complete spectrum sensory suite. If it can be sensed, I can adjust my perception to sense it, more or less anyways. I'll be your infiltration specialist on this mission."

“If I had my perfect scenario, we’d be in and out of there as fast as possible with no danger and no threats falling in our laps.” Erica Lynn’s eyes darted to the others in the room, looking for some sort of reaction that would give her even a subtle hint of how they felt about the news.
She sighs, noting that Dragonmage has not made an appearance.

"And I want you all to be aware, Dragonmage is held in high regard by many in the Legion. Myself included. We are not assigning you to a fool`s errand, we do not consider you expendable. “I guess that means that we won’t have any getting to know you time.” Erica Lynn said, sitting back in her chair as her eyes fixed on Saturn Woman. “Which means that I’ll have to wait to get filled in on this whole Xoa and Rokk drama that’s going on?”
"So we're to head to Apokolips, and snoop out any secret plots. Redstreak’s head snapped in Maverick’s direction the moment she heard his voice emanate throughout the room.
“I guess that saves me from asking the question of who Maverick is.” She smiled and waved her hand quickly greeting him. “I am Redstreak. You can call me Erica Lynn Allen or Erica. There’s a litany of nicknames I’ve been called,” Erica Lynn playfully winced, “but I don’t think they’re appropriate to fire off here so we’ll just leave those on the bookshelf to collect dust.”

She took her hand and gestured to her costume that was red with a belt designed in the form of a lighting bolt with matching trim on the end of her gloves. “I guess this goes without saying. The Speed Force loves the Allen family.” Erica joked.

Saturn Woman nods and smiles ever so slightly as Dragonmage takes his seat. She doesn`t really address his mental comment about Maverick with more than a momentary raised eyebrow.

"Fast may not be the best option, although I`m sure your speed will be useful." She says to Redstreak.

"As for meet and greet," She adds, addressing the concern, "The trip to Apokolips is not instantaneous, a stargate will only take you so far, so there will be time.

"Looks like you won.'t get to hold me to my offer, Maverick. However your role is still important. We need to know if Darkseid is alive and involved.

"A few moments ago, you heard me mention to Intrepid to make the alteration to her uniform. The notion that she was linked to the legacy of Superman sparked an idea - she will be adding his crest to her uniform to see if there is any credence to the seeming random links to the Man of Steel."

Hawkangel

Horus felt his Nth-metal saturated blood rise a bit with excitement at the presence of a speedster...oh how he loved to pit his winged alacrity against the Speed Force in any century.

He bristled with deadly instinct as Maverick made his "entrance", but quickly calmed himself.

"It is unwise to sneak up on people." he said sternly.

Taking in the group dynamic, it certainly had the overtones of a dysfunctional family that he was used to. Usually such strike teams were molded through many weeks and months of hard training and practice, eventually gelling into an effective and efficient force. Here it seemed as if they were being thrown out of the frying pan and into the Apokaliptan fire, and there already appeared to be conflict and bad blood between members. The more things change...

On the other hand, Darkseid was, despite similarly grey skin, quite the opposite of Apocalypse. The latter reveled in the violent pressure cooker of chaos to drive evolution. The evil New God in contrast sought utter stasis and control. Redstreak's assessment was no less accurate however, despite the fading embers of the fire pits.

"Thank you for the welcome," he replied, resisting the urge to call Saturn Woman 'Mon Mothma'. "I hope I can be of service on this mission."

"I'm more than certain you will be." She says to Horus.

"That said, I expect all of you to extend to Horus the same courtesy and professionalism in the field as you would any other Legionnaire. He is one of our own now, and I hope that long before this mission is over, he understands just what that means."

"You`ll all be relieved to note that although the craft we are providing for this mission may be smaller than those you're accustomed to - no personal quarters, galley or the like - it is equipped with a cloaking device. You will be able to approach Apokolips in stealth.

"Dragonmage, would you like to add anything? Any early thoughts on how to proceed with your mission? Entry points and the like. "
