Fortinbras

He feels some of the knotted tension in his shoulders lessen as he recognizes the woman he is following. Not sure about the guy at her table, though. Could be business, could be something else. Might even be the honeyed trap that Frank Koch fears is waiting for his own wife some day.

Fortinbras crunches the lozenge in his mouth between wide, flat molars. He's not the kind of p.i. that's great at lurking, so he'll keep his distance for now. He plants himself at a corner of the bar where he can keep a careful eye on his client's wife and her companion. He may not be able to hear what they're saying, but body language can still say a lot. Say she leans in close to him, and a hand disappears under the table to touch his knee. Say her cheeks get flushed and she laughs, or plays with her hair. Or say she recoils and slaps him. Fortinbras is kind of hoping for that one, but he's not expecting it. This is not a story that ends happily for anyone.

When the bartender can no longer ignore the six and a half foot scarred man at the corner of the bar, Fortinbras orders three fingers of Tobermory, neat. That's going on the expense account too. No sense in not enjoying himself a little bit.

*fidget fidget shudder*

It takes a long moment to finally get there, but the strands of the web are easy to follow (one might even say like railroad tracks) until you finally come across the knot.

It's an odd cyst, tightly snarled of the web, a Gordian knot, an offense to the Mother.

It lies before you, tempting towards unravelling it, digging into it, devouring the morsel trapped within.

If opened, it reveals another city, somewhere- where? Why would she show you such a thing?

Phillip-

Warehouse district, after the sun is hidden over the horizon, the shadows creeping and enclosing. No one really comes here this time of night, a few guards, a few people getting lost and driving through on their way to somewhere else.

An old model small sedan is half up onto the sidewalk, a young man leaping up and waving with both hands towards the bus- as if there was anywhere else on this street with anybody on it.

A young woman is beaten and bloodied upon the ground, laying out on a coat. Hard to tell many details from inside the ambulance but it doesn't look good. Car wreck? Mugging gone wrong? Running through a dense forest that isn't anywhere close to there?

Cameron leaps from the bus, running towards the two.
So many details to share, please ask questions to direct!

Intrigued.

That would be the best word to describe Robert`s thinking. In the short time that he had obtained this form he had learned much. There was also much that still perplexed him. Still. No one had yet asked anything of him, he had been free to pursue his own kind of vengeance and agenda against those who had defiled the temple where he had been born.

But this?

Still, a knot was a series of ridges and bumps of folded web, cord or string. Places where folds and holds could form. Robert stepped towards the knot, ever the image of a gentlemen. Until, suddenly, he seemed to turn to liquid and collapse, dropping to the web and the ground as he flowed over the knot, exploring it.

Phillip took a moment to open the back and get the rolling gurney then followed Cameron easily, wheeling the metal contraption at a quickened pace. A minor trickle of his undead puissance let him speed like this with little effort. It wasn't the physics-defying celerity that some of his ilk could call upon, merely an expression of strength. It let him scan the surroundings unburdened by the drain on attention such quick movement would normally draw from one of the 'mortality-enabled'. The darkness posed no barrier for his eyes, his ears would be as sharp as a... well, rat's - not really that much better but the little scavengers could hear over distances well, and his nose could sort out myriads of scents. Which wasn't always the most pleasant in the City but he inhaled regardless trying to overcome the siren call for his attention that fresh-spilled blood always had.

He looked for obvious dangers present of course, listened for the sounds of anything moving in the near, far, or middle distance, and tried to determine what creatures had been nearby recently (or even the scent of a second vehicle in order to rule out car crash).

By the end of the performance, the hardened audience has thawed to you. A sprinkling of applause across the audience overshadowed by the catcalls and yells for encores, some of not so wholesome and family friendly. It's a different crowd, but still they show their appreciation. After all, you did leave them wondering how you pulled that off. It's a fine line though, a difficult lesson, the audience wants to think that they know how something was done, they want to think that they outsmarted the performer.

The stage manager clears his throat, reaching down into his pocket and pulls out a wad of cash, teasing it just out of your grasp.
With a short hop, Alexis snatched the wad of cash from the stage manager's hand and pulled back before he could react. She had experience dealing with his sort, counting the bills to make sure she wasn't shortchanged. "So, is that a typical crowd here most nights or what? Seemed like a few of them weren't even here to be entertained, wouldn't happen to know why, would you."

Fortinbras
I probably should have done a Perception/Sense Motive check on the couple. Does the woman have a name? I feel like Fortinbras should know her name.

First roll on the man: 15 + 9 = 24

Second roll on the client's wife: 9 + 9 = 18

You've seen the singer a number of times in different places, but can't say that you know her. Penny, Candy, Cindy..Legs. Her eyes turn towards you and yours alone, her honeyed voice working into that big heart of yours. Its the voice that distracts, that caused the death sailors in the olden days. No wonder the poor fools around her fall in love, yeah, love is a good word for it.

As your attention is drawn back to the wife, both the wife and the man are sending out mixed signals. Very mixed signals. Could be that they're not even sure how they stand. It's an odd little dance rather than a give and take. On one hand, they look to be into each other, trying to get something out of the other. On the other hand, there's a mutual distaste. A trade? A negotiation? Neither really trusting the other?

The song slips to an end and the voice with the legs starts to prowl towards you, working those shapely hips, every step flashing with a long creamy thigh.

Complex, interwoven, the thread works to close back in on itself as you work at it, trying to kept something inside contained from within and without. Still, there are flashes:

overwhelming obsession
ancient dust
snapshots of a city, landmarks- somewhere on the Northeastern Seaboard? You might be able to recognize them if you searched
a spiderweb walked a thousand times

The center fights against you, repelling you and nearly trapping your legs within as it snaps closed.

With the sound of the collapse, your eyes open again, seeing your current living space

"I won. I won. I won. I won. I won. I won." the girl keeps saying between shuddering breaths, only your keen ears hearing it over the nearby rush of the city.

A trail of blood from the girl to a pair of double doors into one of the warehouses. A manilla folder in front of them, the top open, a colorful commercial dvd case peeking just outside.

The wounds difficult to make out. Hematomas (up to level 4), abbrassions and up and down along her arms and legs. Defensive wounds? Marks more suggestive of running through wilderness without the environment suggesting supporting it? Her arm is held awkwardly across her chest. Burns (temperature and chemical?) Frostbite? Too.. unstructured for torture?

Sweet, sweet blood. She's already so close. Would anyone miss her? It would be so easy to make Cameron forget. Noone has to know.

Once again the image of a dapper and proper gentleman, Robert rose from his chair, instinctively moving as a spider dropped from the ceiling on its web. That was definitely an odd vision.

OOC - Is Robert currently living in the city (recently arrived or otherwise) or does he feel a pull to up and move?

I think Fortinbras is ok, but we''ll see.

Fortinbras feels his head getting fuzzy. He tries to focus on the client's wife and her companion, but that exquisite voice is very distracting. The glass of scotch sits forgotten in his hand. Even when the song stops, he can still feel it sliding around inside his head, almost like a physical thing.

The city seemed to call to him.

But where was it? What was its name? The dream strangely fresh in his mind, Robert began to peruse his library. It was the only area of his lair that was impeccably clean, devoid of webs or spiders. Perusing the shelves and pulling an Atlas, he opened the volume and began to flip through the pages, looking for the topography and area that was in his dream.

Once he found it, he would begin the preparations to move the anchor for his parlor to a suitable apartment there.

The girl's state was confusing. It was like she just completed 3 seasons of Survivor and a UFC tournament all just tonight.

Phillip parks the gurney by the victim stamping down on the urge to lean over her and sate the Hunger. "Stabilize her, there's indications of other possible wounded. As bad as she is this could be a triage situation." He says following the blood trail to the doors and picking up the folder and slipping it into his medical bag. Normally this would be a potential crime scene and he was removing evidence. This was way outside of his duties as Paramedic and he could be drawn-and-quartered, legally speaking. But in these past few months, especially in his forays with Fortinbras, he'd seen things that the police couldn't handle. He suspected this was one of those. Folder secured, he opened the double doors stepping to the side quickly and only peeking in.

He inhaled again to get a read on the situation and check for supernatural influences.

You're pretty sure that you've saw that pumpkin patch before, maybe twice now. Then again, that's one of the problems with being out in the country- if you don't know what you're looking for, a field is a field.. is a field. Maybe would be easier when the sun is up in the sky and shining but..

"Hey DarDar! Smoochies! *giggle* I was just calling to see when you were coming... and see if you could pick something up from Hops to It?

Something big, fast, dark, low darts in front of your car, crossing the road from one field to another.

"Maybe something in the bubbly direction?"
