Hildr: Five Years Later

Post by EpicEclipse »

HILDR (Hilda Grims)
HP: 1
Condition: Normal

Hildr had traveled to be here in New York on this particular anniversary. She normally resided in the Canadian Okanagan, so it was quite some distance, but it was an event she had observed over the television news dedicated to the first large appearance of powered individuals coming together to protect the world, one of whom from what she could gather, may well be from Asgard himself.

She hadn't been around at that time, but these had been the same heroes that had fought in Sokovia, so this year she wanted to attend this event in memorial to that day, to honour though who died, innocently or in the line of service during the attacks. The tall woman walked through the crowds where names were being called out with the sound of a bell. She could hear some dissenters, people unhappy with the destruction caused by the battle, some who blamed the heroes for specific instances of damage that hurt or killed someone dear.

This was why she came here in person. She needed to hear people like these, affected by these kinds of battles. If she intended to step forth and wage battle against that which would threaten this world, she needed to remember these people, the ones who suffered when mistakes were made or when a hero failed. The people who died despite a hero's best effort. To remind herself she was not perfect, even with all her training and that there would who may be hurt for that imperfection.

The tall asgardian redhead continues through the crowds, listening to names, bells and the comments and cries of those gathered. Her goal was to be a hero worthy of Valhalla, it was what she had trained for her whole life before being captured by the dark elves, and what she had retrained herself for since the Sokovia incident. The next time something happened that threatened this world, she would test herself and what her training had wrought.

Hildr could feel the mixture of joy and sorrow that permeated the emotions of the crowd on this day. Some things had not changed in the millenia, and the reverence one felt for the fallen heroes was one of them. The Avengers were not this city's true heroes from that day. The day of the Incident. No, these people mourned for the fall of the first responders. The police and paramedics, the firemen and the injured clean up workers who scrambled through the rubble to help protect and serve the citizens of New York.

As you move through the city from parade, to exhibit, to festival you suddenly find yourself in a quiet neighborhood. Strangely quiet on a day like today. A playground beside you, a elementary school a block down and a church across the street. Maybe it's just the silence after hours of carousing but, the traffic and street lights are suddenly dark . . .
Boom

You don't know if anyone is in danger, but if there is, you know there is no way the fire department can make it in time to help. The city traffic at a stand still and most of the first responders are either serving in or taking part in the celebrations

Hildr had been lost in her own thoughts before being jarred from them by the sudden cacophony. Her immediate response was to drop into a fighting posture and look around. What the blazes was that?

Summoning her armor and spear, Hildr leaps upwards to get some altitude where she might better assess the damage and maybe see what happened, noting as well that emergency services are going to have a hard time getting out this way. I don't think there are too many people around right now, but I had best check the area for anyone who might have been injured and try to find out what happened.

With that decided, Hildr leaps off the air itself towards the epicenter of the explosion, eyes sharp in case it was an attack and not an accident while looking for injured civilians or other hazards she can put an end to to make the area safer for when emergency services eventually gets through the celebration traffic to respond.
I am assuming you posted the picture as what Hildr could see, the church steeple window going boom, giving her a direction to move. She "flies"
at about 60mph if I am reading this right for rank 5 flight. I'll also make another Perception check for searching for people to rescue.

Perception to find civilians: 1D20+8 = [16]+8 = 24

Glass rains down upon the street, littering the front steps as the fire rages in the upper story of the old church. The smoke is beginning to build as the old oaken timbers begin to smolder and burn. Your Asgardian physiology protects you from the heat of the flames, but the rising smoke makes it hard for you to breath and see through its blackness. The flames lick about your arms and legs as you glide to the shattered window. At the far end of the room you see a figure on the floor, the rumpled figure of an old man.

You hear him coughing the smoke and fumes adding to the injuries already done to his portly frame from the explosion. You make your way across the room, the damaged timbers already creaking. As you bend down to pick up the old man, from the balcony edge you see two figures below obscured by the smoke. Neither seem to be bothered by the smoke and the darkness as they approach the chancel steps. They appear to be wearing heavy clothing. Your first thought would be fireman but you haven't heard sirens and the nearest fire station in a dozen blocks away.

"Let's get you out of here first.." Hildr wanted to go investigate the two below, but she had to get the civilian out first. Planting her spear, she hefts the man, easily supporting his weight before kicking out a section of the weakening wall for a quick exit, leaping from the tower, using her powers to bend reality and create a solid platform under her feet to slow her decent to several smaller hops downward, easing the man to the ground before summoning her spear back to her hand, the weapon pulling itself clear of the floor and zipping to her out the hole she just made.

Assessing the man's injuries, and of course being no medic herself, decides to err on the side of caution and try to get medical attention coming in this direction before going back in to try and investigate the two others she saw in the lower level. "Worry not citizen, I will have medical assistance summoned immediately. Hold your head up, you have survived the worse of the immediate danger, we will have you tended soon."
Any check needed to find a phone or something to contact emergency services?

"Beware the ... " The plump priest lips cracked and bleeding gasp falling unconscious. His head slides down the wooden shrapnel and concussion of the blast taking their toll on the old man. As he slumps dead on the street another explosion and you instinctively use yourself as a Asgardian shield for the father as the cathedral doors are blown from their hinges tumbling near you.

The back blast from the second explosion greats a great wind sucking air into the sanctuary. The flames in the upper story roar higher and the smoke is all but sucked from the lower level out through the upper windows. It's then that you see ...

Not two but three walking through the smoke ...

You know to whom these three belong. They are without honor, they are the Badoon.

_: 1D20+6 = [5]+6 = 11 Well that could be better.

"What are badoon soldiers doing here?" the asgardian warrior spins her spear, preparing to do battle with the honourless scum.

<"The Asgardian sow tries to interfere with our mission brothers. She must be eliminated if we are ... ">

Is the last of what you can hear from the Badoon foot soldiers before they open up with the high pitch sound of three autoblasters. Two striking the asphalt at your feet, the other one striking squarely upon your Asgardian armour.
Hild'r needs to make one DC20 save.

HILDR (Hilda Grims)
HP: 1
Condition: -1 vs Damage
Toughness: 1D20+10 = [9]+10 = 19 I am assuming you mean Toughness save
Hildr grits her teeth as she is hit, though the damage is minimal, the pain tolerable. She would not not be so gentle in her riposte as she fractures reality slightly around herself, slipping through a crack and appearing near the badoon soldiers, but not simply one of her, several of her, the true Hildr hidden among her dimensional reflections as they all start attacking, spears whirling, though only one of them is true, striking from the deception of the reflections.
Shifting her dynamic array. Reality Slide is down to 4 ranks, 2pp put into Fractured Reality to bring her Concealment online.

Using her Flurry attack's Multiattack to attack all three at a -3 penalty on the attack roll, assuming they are all close enough for her to do so. If they are not in a position she can get adjacent to all three, just use the first roll without the -3 penalty on the badoon that hit her, still likely a miss.
Toughness: 1D20+8-3 = [4]+8-3 = 9
1D20+8-3 = [18]+8-3 = 23
1D20+8-3 = [8]+8-3 = 13

Years of isolation have made you aggressive and the song of battle rings loudly in your ears as you slip through the cracks of reality. Slashing thrusting in a whirling attack working outward to the middle two of the Badoon clumsily back away from the Asgardian spear ... onlt to see their leader practically spitted as you push the blade easily through his armoured shoulder.

The two fire at the multiple images missing as the blast either miss or pass through their ethereal bodies. The third Badoon swings his blaster cracking into the side or your own armored shoulder.
DC19 (yes Toughness) counting the blaster as a club

HILDR (Hilda Grims)
HP: 0 (-1 for Reroll)
Condition: -1 vs Damage
Toughness: 1D20+10-1 = [2]+10-1 = 11 Yeeeeah, not taking a natural 1 against foot soldiers.. HP to reroll
Toughness: 1D20+10-1 = [10]+10-1 = 19 +10 for being below 11 for 29 total, though the 19 alone was enough I suppose.
Hildr shifts her body and flexes at just the right moment to deflect the weapon strike off her armor harmlessly, turning into another flurry of blows against the badoon she had managed to injure, attempting to focus the foe down before turning her attention on the others. Three against one odds wasn't great, so she needed to thin their numbers.
Flurry against the injured Badoon who is apparently the leader. Single Target Multiattack Flurry: 1D20+8 = [4]+8 = 12 The dice are just not with me today.
