It is a remarkable dichotomy. In many ways, Clark is the most human of us all. Then... he shoots fire from the skies, and it is difficult not to think of him as a god. And how fortunate we all are that it does not occur to him. -- Batman

Other important people in his life include his mother and father, Martha and Jonathan Kent, his cousin, Supergirl, his clone Kon-El, and friends and co-workers Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, and Catherine “Cat” Grant. In the superhero community he is close to Batman, Wonder Woman, Captain America and Thor. And of course, his loyal dog, Krypto..
Responsibility: Superman feels a strong sense of responsibility to use his powers for the benefit of all.
Secret Identity: Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for the Daily Planet.
Vulnerable: Kryptonians are as vulnerable to magic as anyone else. They lose their ranks of Protection and their Toughness is not Impervious against magical attacks.
Weakness: Kryptonite...Its radiation saps the Strength and powers of Kryptonians, leaving them impaired, disabled, and eventually debilitated in terms of Strength and power effects. Long-term exposure (usually a matter of minutes, less for a large enough amount) imposes the dying condition and may lead to death.

Abilities 118 + Skills 13 (26 ranks) + Advantages 27 + Powers 112 + Defenses 15 = 285 / 285
I took Superman down a PL after doing to build reviews, finishing up my current fantasy playtest adventure and doing some rereading of some of the old threads on the ATT. Wordmaker and BARON's 2E fights are the gold standard IMHO and even though 3E runs a bit differently in actual combat, it really feels like having the PL structure flattened a bit makes for better fights. So Diana will drop and the just posted Doctors Fate and Strange will come down a bit. Not sure if I will do anything with my mid-level builds at all but I might. Having multiple options for my different PL moods was my original plan when I rebooted, but somewhere along the line, I got back into "gotta get a lot of builds up again!" mode and I strayed. Expect some new versions of a lot of the builds I've already done in the new future.

Abilities 68 + Skills 35 (70 ranks) + Advantages 37 + Powers 92 + Defenses 11 = 243 / 243

Build Comments: I'm still trying to figure out why Marvel killed off Professor X the way they did and then had the Red Skull steal his brain to gain his powers. There's so many thing off with that last part, I don't know where to begin, but regardless, I hated it. I don't know if it was part of the whole vendetta against Fox for the movie right or what, but dang.

Anyway, not a lot of changes from my last run at him. He's still the 2nd most powerful telepath in world (after a fully unleashed Jean) and he's still a top player in the superhero universe overall.

Secret Origins: Charles Francis Xavier was born in New York City to the wealthy Brian Xavier, a well-respected nuclear scientist, and Sharon Xavier. After Brian died in an accident, his science partner Kurt Marko comforted and married the grieving Sharon. When Xavier's telepathic mutant powers emerge, he discovered Kurt cared only about his mother's money.

After the wedding, Kurt moved in with the Xavier’s, bringing with him his son Cain. Kurt quickly grew neglectful of Sharon, driving her to alcoholism, and abused both Charles and Cain. Cain took out his frustrations and insecurities on his stepbrother. Charles used his telepathic powers to read Cain's mind and explore the extent of his psychological damage, which only led to Cain becoming more aggressive toward him and the young Xavier feeling Cain's pain firsthand.

Sharon died soon after, and a fight erupted between Cain and Charles that caused some of Kurt's lab equipment to explode. Mortally wounded, Kurt drug the two children out before dying, and admitted that he was partly responsible for Brian's death.

The Story so Far: With help from his powers and his natural genius, Xavier became an excellent student and athlete, though he gave up the latter, believing his powers give him an unfair advantage. Due to his powers, by the time he graduated from high school, Charles lost all of his hair. He graduated with honors at the age of 16 from Harvard University. In graduate studies, he received Ph.D.s in Genetics, Biophysics, Psychology, and Anthropology with a two-year residence at Pembroke College, Oxford University. He also received an M.D. in Psychiatry while spending several years in London. He is later appointed Adjunct Professor at Columbia University.

At graduate school, he met a Scottish girl named Moira Kinross, a fellow genetics student with whom he fell in love. The two agree to get married, but soon, Xavier is drafted into the Vietnam War. He carved himself a niche as a soldier in search and rescue missions and witnessed Cain's transformation into Juggernaut when he touches a ruby with an inscription on it in an underground temple. During the war, he received a letter from Moira telling him that she is breaking up with him. He later discovers that Moira married her old boyfriend Joseph MacTaggert, who abused her.

Deeply depressed when Moira broke off their engagement without explanation, Xavier began traveling around the world as an adventurer after leaving the army. In Cairo, he met a young girl named Ororo Munroe (later known as Storm), who was a pickpocket, and the Shadow King, a powerful mutant who is posing as Egyptian crime lord Amahl Farouk. Xavier defeated the Shadow King in psychic combat, barely escaping with his life. This encounter led to Xavier's decision to devote his life to protecting humanity from evil mutants and safeguarding innocent mutants from human oppression.

Xavier visits his friend Daniel Shomron, who runs a clinic for traumatized Holocaust victims in Haifa, Israel. There, he met Erik Lehnsherr (who would later become Magneto), a Holocaust survivor who works as a volunteer in the clinic, and Gabrielle Haller, a woman driven into a catatonic coma by the trauma she experienced. Xavier used his mental powers to break her out of her catatonia and the two fall in love. Xavier and Lehnsherr become good friends, although neither immediately reveals to the other that he is a mutant. The two hold lengthy debates hypothesizing what will happen if humanity is faced with a new super-powered race of humans. While Xavier is optimistic, Magneto's experiences in the Holocaust lead him to believe that humanity will ultimately oppress the new race of humans as they have done with other minorities. The two friends reveal their powers to each other when they fight Nazi Baron Wolfgang von Strucker and his HYDRA agents, who kidnap Gabrielle because she knows the location of their secret cache of gold. Magneto attempted to kill Strucker but Xavier stopped him. Realizing that his and Xavier's views on mutant-human relations were incompatible, Magneto left with the gold. Charles stayed in Israel for some time, but he and Gabrielle separate on good terms, neither knowing that she is pregnant with his son, who grows up to become the mutant Legion.

In a strange town near the Himalayas, Xavier encountered an alien calling himself Lucifer, the advance scout for an invasion by his race, and foiled his plans. In retaliation, Lucifer dropped a huge stone block on Xavier, crippling his legs. After Lucifer leaves, a young woman named Tessa (Sage) heard Xavier's telepathic cries for help and rescued him, bringing him to safety, beginning a long alliance between the two.

In a hospital in India he is brought to an American nurse, Amelia Voght, who looked after him and as she sees to his recovery, they fall in love. When he is released from the hospital, the two moved into an apartment in Bombay together. Amelia is troubled to find Charles studying mutation, as she is a mutant and unsettled by it, though she calms when he reveals himself to be a mutant as well. They eventually move to the United States, living on Xavier's family estate. But the night Scott Summers moves into Xavier's mansion, Amelia leaves him, believing Charles would have changed his view and that mutants should lie low. Yet he is recruiting them to what she believes is a lost cause. Charles tries to force her to stay with his mental powers, but immediately ashamed by this, lets her go. She later became a disciple of Magneto.

Over the years, Charles made a name for himself as geneticist and psychologist, apparently renowned enough that the Greys were referred to him when no other expert could help their catatonic daughter, Jean. Xavier trained her in the use of her telekinesis, while inhibiting her telepathic abilities until she matured. Around this time, he also started working with fellow mutation expert, Karl Lykos, as well as Moira MacTaggert again, who built a mutant research station on Muir Island. Apparently, Charles had gotten over Moira in his travels to the Greek island of Kirinos. Xavier discussed his candidates for recruitment to his personal strike force, the X-Men, with Moira, including those he passed over, which are Kurt Wagner, Piotr Rasputin, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff, and Ororo Munroe. Xavier also trained Tessa in order to spy on Sebastian Shaw.

Xavier founded Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, which provided a safe haven for mutants and teaches them to master their abilities. In addition, he sought to foster mutant-human relations by providing his superhero team, the X-Men, as an example of mutants acting in good faith, as he told FBI agent Fred Duncan. With his inherited fortune, he uses his ancestral mansion at 1407 Graymalkin Lane in Salem Center, Westchester County, New York as a base of operations with technologically advanced facilities, including the Danger Room - later, Fantomex mentions that Xavier is a billionaire with a net worth of 3.5 billion dollars. Presenting the image of a stern teacher, Xavier mades his students endure a rigorous training regime.

Xavier's first five students were Marvel Girl, Cyclops, Beast, Iceman, and Angel, who become the original X-Men. After he completed recruiting the original team of X-Men, he sent them into battle with Magneto.

Throughout most of his time with the team, Xavier uses his telepathic powers to keep in constant contact with his students and provides instructions and advice when needed. In addition, he used a special machine called Cerebro, which enhanced his ability to detect mutants and to allow the team to find new students in need of the school.

Among the obstacles Xavier faces is his old friend, Magneto, who had grown into an advocate of mutant superiority since their last encounter and who believes the only solution to mutant persecution is domination over humanity. When anthropologist Bolivar Trask resurfaced the "mutant problem", Xavier countered him in a televised debate, however, he appeared arrogant and Trask sent his mutant-hunting robot Sentinels to terrorize mutants. The X-Men dispatch them, but Trask sees the error in his ways too late as he is killed by his creations.

When the X-Men are captured by the sentient island Krakoa, Xavier assembled a new team to rescue them, including Cyclops' and Havok's long-lost brother, Vulcan, along with Darwin, Petra, and Sway. This new team, composed of students of Dr. Moira MacTaggert, was sent to rescue the original X-Men from Krakoa. However, after rescuing Cyclops, McTaggert's former students were seemingly killed. Upon Cyclops' return, Xavier removed Cyclops' memories of the death of Vulcan and his teammates, and began assembling yet another team of X-Men.
Xavier's subsequent rescue team consisted of Banshee, Colossus, Sunfire, Nightcrawler, Storm, Wolverine, and Thunderbird. After the mission, the older team of X-Men, except for Cyclops, leave the school, believing they no longer belong there, and Xavier mentored the new X-Men.

Since then, Xavier has been involved with several plots, adventures and epic events that are too numerous to count. He has died, been reborn, left the school, returned, had fallings out with his students, betrayed and saved the X-Men on several occasions. Currently, Charles’ legs are healed and after seeing how being the mutant leader affected Scott, and some of Scott’s questionable decisions, he has taken back over as the leader of the X-Men, working very closely with Magneto who remains in the X-Men camp (for now) to re-form bonds across mutant-kind and the world at large. With his new perspective and desire to make up for past mistakes, even Scott has acknowledged that he seems to be a better leader, and man, than ever. He’s even gone out on more field missions, which has almost rendered the rest of the teams moot at times with his unparalleled mental capabilities. And when he and Magneto are working in concert, they have been beyond devastating.

And don’t think that hasn’t been noticed by Waller, Fury and Stedman and other world leaders.

Characterization: Xavier’s goals are to promote the peaceful affirmation of mutant rights, to mediate the co-existence of mutants and humans, to protect mutants from violent humans and to protect society from antagonistic mutants, including his old friend, Magneto. To achieve these aims, he founded Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters (later named the Xavier Institute and now the Jean Grey Institute) to teach mutants to explore and control their powers. Xavier's students consider him a visionary and often refer to their mission as "Xavier's dream". He is highly regarded by others in the superhero community, respected by various governments and trusted by several other superhero teams, including the Avengers, Justice League and the Fantastic Four. However, he also has a manipulative streak which has resulted in several significant fallings-out with allies and students.

He often acts as a public advocate for mutant rights and is the authority most of the superhero community turns to for advice on mutants. Despite this, his status as a mutant himself and originator of the X-Men only recently became public.

Friends and Foes: He has had many relationships over the years but his greatest love has been Princess Lilandra of the Shi’ar empire, but he was also very close to Moira McTaggert. He has many allies in the mutant community, including nearly all his former students and even sometime rivals like Sebastian Shaw.

His greatest friendship and rivalry has been with Magneto. At the time being, they are working together and Charles hopes that it is permanent this time, although even he believes that Erik will return to his villainous ways at some point.

I like him with the hair, even though we know Xavier as being bald.

I did not like his bald look on him. And to me, he did he not look like Prof X when bald.

I still think one of the best parts about the new X-men movies has been James McAvoy as Charles. I feel like he's done a really good in that role. I also find it hilarious that he had shaved his head for X-men First Class before being told that he wasn't supposed to be bald yet .

Yes, that is why his hair was much shorter in that film. I didn't like that look on him, either!

I do really like his Prof X look in the shot above.

Me, too (obviously). I'm thinking of changing his Thorpocaverse background to include a swap into a younger body so that pic can be "canon".

In July, Marvel will be running 10 mini-series called Generations, where all 20 characters in this sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet Alex Ross art will be teamed up in adventures. So Steve Cap and Sam Cap will have a book, Banner Hulk and Cho Hulk will have a book, Clint Hawkeye and Kate Hawkeye, and so on. They haven't explained how Evil Cap will be working with Good Cap or how they're going to deal with the dead characters like Mar-Vell, Eath-616 Jean Grey and Wolverine, but it sounds all of them will be coming back, at least for this series.

In preparation, I'm going to do a Generations run at J-Mart over the next week or so, encompassing some of these combinations and some from DC as well. I'm not sure if I'll get started tonight since I've got a busy few days coming up and I am pooped, but I wanted to drop this while I had a moment. Should be fun!

Ah what the hell, let's boogie! 8-)

Relationships: His loves, Betty Ross, the late Caiera and Jarella; his sons Skaar and Hiro-Kala, his cousin Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk), the Warbound.
Temper: Believe it or not, he can get a WEEEEEEEEEEE bit angry at times, causing him to do lots of damage.

Abilities 62 + Skills 13 (26 ranks) + Advantages 6 + Powers 99 + Defenses 15 = 195 / 195

Build Comments: Even though I really liked the more intelligent Hulk that was rolling for a while, the classic always seems to be the best to me and I really liked the last Indestructible Hulk series. In that book, Banner made a deal with SHIELD to work for them and try to use his top 10 intelligence to make up for all the damage that Hulk had done and all the time he had wasted trying to rid himself of the Green Goliath. He finally came to realize that they are eternally bound and that he could best serve the world by using SHIELD resources to advance science while letting SHIELD use The Hulk as a weapon. It started out like a good plan, but of course, what kind of comic would it be if everything went according to plan?

Anyway, the Savage Hulk is who is roaring through the Thorpocaverse now with Banner being able to exert a little influence over him when he really needs to. Otherwise, he’s generally good to the people that treat him well, but if you don’t…

And I like this pic of Banner without his purple pants. :D

Build Comments: This is the Hulk as he was recently when the Hulk series rebooted where he and Banner have split. This grants him greater strength in his calm state, much like his Green Scar persona, but overall, he doesn’t seem to be any more effective than the Savage Hulk right now, so he stays at PL15, unlike my PC version of him (which I need to fix) that is at PL16.

Secret Origins: Robert Bruce Banner is the son of Dr. Brian Banner, an atomic physicist, and his wife Rebecca. Although Rebecca deeply loved Bruce, who returned her affection, Brian hated their child. An alcoholic, Brian was driven by an insane jealousy of Bruce for being an object of Rebecca's love. Further, Brian believed that his radiation work had altered his DNA and given him a mutant son. Brian abused Bruce and finally murdered Rebecca and was placed in a mental hospital. Bruce became a highly withdrawn, intellectually gifted youth, in fact considered a child prodigy. He was raised by his aunt, Mrs. Drake, and he internalized his great pain and rage over his childhood sufferings.

After graduating from Science High School, Bruce studied nuclear physics in Navajo, New Mexico, at Desert State University as the star student of Professor Herbert Josiah Weller. He also studied for a time at Pennsylvania State University, where he met Walter Langkowski, who would later become the Canadian superhero Sasquatch. He obtained his doctorate in nuclear physics at the California Institute of Technology alongside Phillip Sterns.

Eventually, as an adult genius in nuclear physics, Banner went to work at a United States Defense Department nuclear research facility at Desert Base, New Mexico. There Banner met General Thaddeus E. "Thunderbolt" Ross, the Air Force officer in command of the base, and his daughter Betty Ross. Banner and Betty eventually fell in love with each other. Banner designed and oversaw construction of the "Gamma Bomb" or "G-bomb," a nuclear weapon possessing a high gamma radiation output.

Banner was present in the instrumentation bunker at the test site for the first underground test detonation of the Gamma Bomb. Observing that a civilian had breached security and entered the restricted test area, Banner told his colleague Igor Starsky to delay the countdown while he tried to escort the civilian to safety. Starsky, secretly a Soviet agent, did nothing, confident that Banner would die in the explosion, bringing the project to a halt. Reaching the civilian, a teenager named Rick Jones, Banner threw him into a protective trench.

Before Banner could get himself to safety, the Gamma Bomb detonated, and intense waves of radiation reached the surface. Banner was irradiated with highly charged radioactive particles. Due to an unknown genetic factor in his body, Banner was not killed by the radiation, which instead caused him to frequently transform into the vastly powerful, gray-skinned, humanoid monster named "the Hulk".

The Story so Far: At first Banner changed into the Hulk at sunset and reverted to human form at dawn. However, Banner's body eventually changed so that his transformations into Hulk were triggered by the release of adrenalin when he became excited, no matter what time of day or night it was.

Usually the Hulk possessed little of Banner's memory and intelligence and was easily enraged. While the military attempted to contain Hulk, he thwarted their every attempt, with Rick Jones, feeling responsible for Banner becoming the Hulk, trying to help keep him away from the military. Hulk ultimately thwarted an attempt to destroy America by the Gargoyle, another being mutated by gamma radiation. Hulk changed back into Banner and help cure the Gargoyle, who helped Banner escape back to the U.S., where, with the help of Rick Jones, he maintained his identity as Hulk a secret and attempted to keep the Hulk contained at night.

When Bruce next turned into the Hulk, his skin was green, a skin tone that has remained the most constant for the Hulk. He went on a number of rampages, drawing the ire of Thunderbolt Ross, who would hound Banner for years, trying to stop The Hulk.

Hulk became a pawn of Loki who tricked Hulk into battling his half-brother, Thor. This plot was foiled, leading to Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Ant-Man, and the Wasp joining forces to form the Avengers and defeat Loki. Hulk was a founding member of the group and has been affiliated with the team on a number of occasions.

Banner’s fractured personality has led to him manifesting different versions of the Hulk over years from the Savage Hulk, the Joe Fixit Hulk, Professor Hulk, Devil Hulk, and the Worldbreaker Hulk. From the simple-minded Savage Hulk to the brilliant Professor Hulk, each represent a different part of Bruce’s personality and each have presented different challenges for Banner as well as his friends and foes.

A couple of years ago, Banner sought refuge and peace in Alaska where he lived as a hermit loosely connected to the town community. He was eventually tracked down by Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D., who required his help in defeating the HYDRA space weapon called the Godseye which could detonate all the nuclear bombs in the world. Sent up as the Hulk, he discovered that the Godseye was actually a rogue S.H.I.E.L.D. weapon that could match the strength of any enemy. In the ensuing battle, the Godseye found that though it could try, it could not match the increasing power of the Hulk, and it exploded.

A S.H.I.E.L.D. commissioned space shuttle was sent to retrieve the Hulk, or so he believed. Seizing the opportunity to be rid of the Hulk, a group of superheroes known as the Illuminati decided to jettison the shuttle into space to a planet with no intelligent lifeforms. Unfortunately, there was a navigation error, and the Hulk landed on the planet Sakaar, a world filled with barbarian tribes, gladiator battles and ruled by a corrupt empire. The planet was situated near a portal, which gave it access to several different cultures and technologies. The Hulk was captured and became a gladiator. Hulk ushered an uprising, overthrowing the current regime.

Installing himself as king, the Hulk met and fell in love with a queen named Caiera Oldstrong. Together, they ushered in a new age of peace and prosperity for Sakaar. Caiera became pregnant with the Hulk's child, but died when the shuttle that brought the Hulk to Sakaar suddenly exploded, killing millions of people. Driven to new heights of rage and fury, the Hulk swore revenge against the Illuminati, whom he held responsible for the death of Caiera Oldstrong. With his allies, the Warbound, the Hulk rode atop the prow of an alien warship as it set course for Earth.

Reaching the moon, the Hulk defeated the Illuminati member Black Bolt (who was actually a Skrull impersonating Black Bolt and not the real one). The Hulk then proceeded to New York City, where he demanded that the city be evacuated and the presence of the Illuminati. As the time limit for the evacuation of New York had passed, Hulk defeated Iron Man and Stark Tower was destroyed in the process.

The heroes engaged the Hulk and his Warbound but were defeated. After Hulk became allied with Hercules, Namora, and the Angel, General Thunderbolt Ross called in the U.S. Army to dispatch the Green Goliath. Despite the army's best efforts, including the use of adamantium bullets, Hulk defeated them. Alongside his Warbound, he transformed an area near Madison Square Garden into a gladiatorial arena.

Doctor Strange, mystically invoking a powerful old enemy, Zom, battled the Hulk. Barely holding back the demon Zom, Dr.Strange began to exhibit some of the demon's traits. Strange sent the Hulk crashing into a building that crumbled upon himself and the innocent bystanders who had gathered to watch the fight. The Hulk had protected the innocent bystanders. Distraught by his actions almost killing innocents, Dr. Strange stopped fighting, and an uncaring Hulk gave Strange a lesson on control and pummeled him into the ground.

After implanting Sakaarian obedience disks in all of the captured heroes, the Hulk set The Illuminati into the arena and had them fight each other. In the end the Hulk spared them, declaring he intended justice and not murder. Hulk planned to destroy New York City and leave the Illuminati to their shame. Soon, a nearly insane Sentry arrived on the scene and a cataclysmic battle ensued between him and Hulk. Sentry unleashed forces that nearly destroyed what was left of New York, but ultimately, it was a stalemate between the two. The Hulk then briefly reverted back to Bruce Banner and the Sentry reverted back to Bob Reynolds, and in their human forms, Bruce Banner was able to knock out Bob Reynolds.

Warbound member Miek impaled the Hulk's longtime friend Rick Jones, and revealed he intentionally allowed the mass deaths on Sakaar to happen, knowing they were caused by former followers of the Red King and not the Illuminati. The Hulk and the Brood No-Name attacked Miek in retaliation. The betrayed and enraged Hulk unwillingly began releasing energy that threatened the Eastern Seaboard, and prompted Tony Stark to activate a series of satellite devices that opened fire and eventually left the Hulk in his Bruce Banner form unconscious. S.H.I.E.L.D. imprisoned Banner in a facility three miles underground, and the other Warbound members were placed under U.S. custody.

After more adventures, including the discovery of his sons, Skaar and the villainous Hiro Kala, adventuring with The Hulk Family and others, Hulk resorted to Doctor Doom in order to separate himself from Bruce Banner, hopefully freeing both from the conflicted life they’ve led. It resulting in Doom removing the portion of the brain controlled by Banner and moving it to a gamma-free cloned body of Bruce Banner. Hulk moved underground, where he lived with a tribe of Moloids until Commander Amanda von Doom (no relation to Victor, she says) contacted him for help to hunt an insane Bruce Banner.

Hulk helped Doom's team to assault an island which Banner used as a base, where he created gamma-mutated animals experimenting to become the Hulk again. The attack resulted in Banner's vaporization in a gamma bomb, which resulted in Bruce Banner sharing Hulk's mind once more, but still with his insane mind, and Hulk wouldn't have any memories of his time as Banner. Bruce Banner lead the Hulk to a journey in different locations of the word, which ended with Hulk waking up strapped to a chair with a needle pointed above him and Banner talking on a video screen. The recording of Banner revealed that he had finally discovered the cure for the Hulk, the components of which was what Hulk had been gathering all his "journey". However, Banner also revealed that he was no longer interested in controlling the Hulk, having come to recognise that he was a better person with the Hulk than he would have been without it, prompting the two personas to join forces once more in investigating Doom's latest plan.

Weeks after his reunion with his Banner persona, which caused the Hulk persona to lose intelligence as well as his Banner persona to become good again, the Hulk exiled himself to the American desert until an aquatic villain stole from a convoy of the army, forcing Hulk to face him. In order to know who this villain was, Hulk took a torn piece of his suit to the Avengers, revealing that he was a member of the new Zodiac, which were revealed to be the pawns of a returned Thanos, who tried to use a human-created Cosmic Cube stolen from the Army to rule the universe, but because it was human-crafted, it wasn't a real Cosmic Cube, thus not very powerful. Thanos was finally stopped by the Avengers with the help of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

After a few time back to his exile, Hulk was asked by Captain America in Colorado to help the Avengers win the war against Cyclops and the X-Men. Hulk agreed to do so, saying "Hulk will smash for you." Because of his invaluable help, he was offered to return as an Avenger as well as he offered his help to S.H.I.E.L.D., so his Hulk persona would be controlled at the same time he could use his vast intellect as Bruce Banner to create new technologies with the necessary resources to help humanity.

Characterization: Bruce Banner suffered severe trauma inflicted by his father, and repressed it in his sub consciousness. Because Banner's mind is incredibly complex, the original trauma associated with the event that triggered Bruce Banner's transformation into the Hulk stimulated the emergence of various aspects of his personality, directly corresponding to different stages of his life. Each fraction of his complex mind represents a peculiar archetype fragmentation of his multifaceted psyche.

Because of that Banner is often trying to hide his emotional damage, resulting predominantly in social isolation. At the same time he is pursued by the destruction that Hulk causes, what culminates in more complications in his life. However, Bruce Banner is a self-sacrificing, heroic person. Endowed with a super genius intellect, he is also one of the most brilliant and resourceful minds on Earth. Banner is constantly undertaken his career as a superhero while trying to find a cure for his condition. Currently Banner has strategically acting in consonance with his Hulk persona, thus giving the Hulk a purpose. Banner himself has also stated that the Hulk's reasoning and intelligence tend to vary depending upon a number of factors at the moment of transformation.

Friends and Foes: Over the long history of the Hulk's adventures, many recurring characters have featured prominently, including his sidekick Rick Jones, love interest and former wife Betty Ross and her father, the often adversarial General "Thunderbolt" Ross. Both Banner and Hulk have families created in their respective personas. Banner is son to Brian, an abusive father who killed Banner's mother while she tried to protect her son from his father's delusional attacks, and cousin to Jennifer Walters, the She-Hulk, who serves as his frequent ally. Banner had a stillborn child with Betty, while the Hulk has two sons with his deceased second wife Caiera Oldstrong, Skaar and Hiro-Kala, and his DNA was used to create a daughter named Lyra with Thundra the warrior woman.

The Hulk's has had a long rivalry, sometimes friendly, sometimes not, with the Thing. He and Superman have also had a number of memorable battles, although usually they end up on the same side in the end. In his early years, The Hulk was pursued relentlessly by General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, who tried to capture or destroy the Hulk. Ross' daughter Betty loves Banner and criticizes her father for pursuing the Hulk. General Ross' right-hand man, Major Glenn Talbot, also loves Betty and is torn between pursuing Hulk and trying to gain Betty's love more honorably. Rick Jones serves as the Hulk's friend and sidekick in these early tales.

He has also faced many radiation-based villains, like the Gargoyle or the Leader, along with other foes such as the Toad Men, or Asian warlord General Fang.

Abilities 32 + Skills 24 (48 ranks) + Advantages 12 + Powers 164 + Defenses 14 = 246 / 246

Build Comments: My man, Amadeus Cho, the Totally Awesome Hulk. I got the TBP of the first 6 issues and it's a hoot. It's good old fashioned, find the monsters and let the other monster fight them. And I love that the Hulk drive mixed with his teenage dude hormones makes it a constant battle for him to focus when there's women around. It's fun stuff.

And he and Herc were such a great combo, it almost wasn't fair. I've carried on before about what a great book the Incredible Hercules was/is and I will keep doing so until every single one of you buy every trade there is and join me in praising its awesomeness, too!

Secret Origins: Amadeus Cho was not your average teenager. Above average was insufficient to define this extraordinary teen. Cho made history on an internet game show called "Brain Fight". After winning the five hundred thousand dollar prize he became known to the world as Mastermind Excello, teenage super-genius and the "7th Smartest Man in the World".

The man behind the contest, Pythagoras Dupree, was a lonely, paranoid genius who planned to search the planet for other hyper-minds and eliminate them. He claimed to be the "6th Smartest Man in the World". He destroyed Mastermind's home, killing his family. Mastermind ran away with his only companion being a coyote pup.

Amadeus Cho has stated to Hercules, just before he first encountered Athena at her house, that he is Korean American, and mentions to Athena later at an Olympian dinner when questioned about his namesake that, due to his parents' love for Mozart's music and Methodist beliefs, they named him this.

The Story so Far: While on the run, SHIELD Agents tracked him down but not before Amadeus ran into to another misunderstood genius with awesome power: the Hulk. The Hulk protected Mastermind, who then considered him his friend.

Sometime later, a terrible accident involving super-heroes in Stamford, Connecticut killed 612 including the school children. The "Stamford Incident" gave rise to the Superhuman Registration Act. S.H.I.E.L.D. went to apprehend the unregistered Mastermind Excello. After outsmarting some S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Amadeus discovered a hide-out in New Mexico that once belonged to his friend the Hulk. There Amadeus hacked into the Baxter Building security network and discovered that a group of heroes called the Illuminati. including Mr. Fantastic of the Fantastic Four and the Avenger Iron Man, had sent the Hulk into exile in outer space. Using a special phone line, he informed Reed Richards about his discovery. A satellite revealed that the Hulk wasn't where the Illuminati thought they had sent their former friend. Amadeus left Reed thinking about his betrayal of his former ally and friend while Amadeus set off to find the Hulk.

The Hulk soon returned to earth with his Warbound looking for revenge. Cho restored She-Hulk's powers after finding her de-powered by Tony Stark's S.P.I.N. tech. Cho tried to recruit her to his cause. She-Hulk declined, choosing instead to get revenge on Stark using the legal system, but put him in contact with Hercules and Angel who owed the Hulk due to an altercation from when they where part of the Champions. Cho used Angel’s money to buy a submarine. The trio went off to recruit Namor. Wanting no part of the Illuminati’s plot to begin with Namor dismissed Cho's idea. Namora decided to join the three in her cousin's place.

Cho’s group offered their help to Hulk and he dismissed them but was forced to accept help due to General Ross's attack. S.H.I.E.L.D. eventually recruited Cho’s team to protect the non-evacuated civilians. Cho eventually met Rick Jones but didn't see eye-to-eye with him. Cho’s group met up with Scorpion to find and free the heroes captured by the Warbound. Seeing the way the heroes were being treated caused Cho to confront the Hulk alone. Cho attempted to show Hulk that he wished to create a safe haven for him but he was attacked, causing Hercules and his crew to come to Cho’s aid. The Hulk left after Cho’s argued that his anger was what killed his loved ones and that Banner was what kept them loving him. When Zom possessed Stark’s Hulkbuster armor, Cho and his crew captured the demon with Wong's help. When Hulk was defeated Cho and Hercules became prisoners of SHIELD.

During his imprisonment SHIELD decided that Cho’s intelligence was going to be beneficial in moving the evacuated New Yorkers back to their homes. He declined, believing that if he did they would eventually make him a tool their militaristic plans. Hercules also didn’t like SHIELD's plans for him so he rescued Cho and escaped. With Ares on their trail, his coyote dying, and Hercules hallucinating, Cho became fed up with all that SHIELD had done. He used Hercules' crazed state to take over a SHIELD vessel and upload a virus that would destroy all SHIELD tech. When Hercules regained his sound state of mind he convinced Cho that he was in danger of being labeled as a villain for the rest of his life. Cho restored all SHIELD tech and continued on with Hercules.

Upon meeting up with Athena the trio set out to San Francisco to assemble a team of gods from Earth (Snowbird, Tecumotzin, Amatsu-Mikaboshi, and Atum the God Eater) to battle and defeat the Skrull Gods Kly'Bn and Sl'gur't. In route to Skrull space through the dream realm, they battled Nightmare and received his map of the dream realm.

Cho found himself in the crossfire when Red She-Hulk attacked the Mighty Avengers in an attempt to capture Hank Pym. While considered a possible target for the Intelligencia's hunt for the eight greatest minds of in the world, Bruce Banner confirmed Cho's drop to tenth. However, Banner would retract his statement, claiming Cho was always one of the eight. Cho helped Banner disable War Machine's armor, saving Pym's life, only to have the super-scientist stolen from under their noses. Later Cho joined Banner and a select team of superheroes in an assault on the Intelligencia's secret headquarters in an attempt to save Betty Ross.

After many more adventures with Hercules, including being a key to helping end the Chaos War along with being the new Prince of Power for a time, he and Herc decided to “retire” from superheroing for a while. After their short vacation, Hercules and Cho assisted Wonder Woman with battling some demons in Los Angeles. The three of them bonded and after some more adventures all of them decided to base themselves in LA and deal with the recent rash of mystical events that had been occurring there.

During a trip to the underworld with Diana and Hercules, Amadeus learned that his sister, Madame Curie Cho, was not dead but had been captured by the Dupree and had been mind-wiped. With Bruce Banner and Hercules’ help, he was able to locate her and restore her memories and intelligence.

Eight months later, once the problem the Illuminati were tackling, the incursions, had been neutralized, Amadeus became a gamma-powered monster and the new Hulk after absorbing the power to transform into Hulk from Bruce Banner using special nanites. This was to prevent Banner from melting down and killing countless people after absorbing excessive amounts of a new type of radiation. With the help of his sister Maddy Cho, he started hunting down different dangerous monsters that were on the loose across the planet.

Characterization: Amadeus Cho's brain operates like a hyper computer, performing an infinite number of simultaneous calculations. This has been described as a "hyper mind." It allows him to identify the variables and quantum possibilities in any situation, and he uses this information to adjust the outcome to whichever is most favorable to him. Though this gift does come in handy when escaping, the strain of his mental calculations leaves him exhausted and famished.

Friends and Foes: Cho is good friends with Hercules and The Hulk and is close to his sister Maddy. He has gotten to be close to Wonder Woman and has made friends with several members of the mythological and mystic communities

No. I know what you are. But let's talk about the hypercomputer..capable of performing simultaneous infinite calculations...taking into account not just the binary of 0 and 1, dead/alive, black/white, German/Japanese...but the whole panoply of probabilities in any given situation, every possible quantum state...and through that act of measurement, that act of observing...he can determine the state, however unlikely, most favorable to him! ... You're not just trying to prevent me from finding this "hypercomputer", Pythagoras. You're trying to prevent me from realizing...that that's what I naturally am. - Amadeus Cho

Toughness +4 (+1 without Defensive Roll), Fortitude +4, Will +8

COMPLICATIONS:
Power Loss: His intelligence requires him to consume lots of junk food to feed his brain. Denied of it for too long and his incredible mental abilities go away.
Relationships: Herc, Kirby (even though he let him go), Bruce Banner and his sister, Madame Curie (Maddy) Cho.
Reputation: Some ancients think that he is Herc's…um…boy toy...

Abilities 32 + Skills 24 (48 ranks) + Advantages 6 + Powers 73 + Defenses 15 = 150 / 150

Build Comments: Cho became a great character during the original Incredible Hercules run. From being a bratty kid that wanted to destroy SHIELD (even though he kinda had a good reason) to his first love and then to replacing Herc as Athena's champion when she double crossed Herc and he "died" for a while, he had a helluva run and did it will with true geek style.

As a build, I think I might have gone overboard, but I don't care. As long as he can do the math, he can do just about anything humanly possible and with some smart power stunting off his Enhanced Intelligence and Senses, he can go beyond that. I hope if I play him to do it right because it should be a blast!

Abilities 116 + Skills 16 (31 ranks) + Advantages 20 + Powers 138 + Defenses 16 = 306 / 306

Build Comments: The Mighty Thor, given a new, shiny new rebuild. Not a lot of changes but some tweaks here and there and a little trimming of fat points-wise. I need to test him again for sure. Sending him up against Lobo was a lot of fun over at the old ATT. I’ll have to find someone new for him to rumble with once I get more of the builds over here. Or heck, maybe the Main Man will get a rematch. ;)

Secret Origins: The Ragnarok cycle of Earth -0 created numerous versions of Thor's origin story, and the fact that Asgard was a place of myth did not help matters when trying to keep track of all of the different stories and personalized descriptions of events. What is known is that Thor is the blood-son of Odin, All-Father of the Asgardians. It is believed that his birthmother is Jord, who was also known as Gaea, the goddess who was one of the Elder Gods. Odin sought to father a son whose power would derive from both Asgard and Midgard, and hence he sought to mate with Jord.

Odin created a cave in Norway where Jord gave birth to Thor. Months after the infant Thor was weaned, Odin brought him to Asgard to be raised. Odin's wife, the goddess Frigga, acted as Thor's mother from that time onward. Not until many decades later did Thor learn that Jord was his birth mother.

The young Thor was raised alongside Loki, who had been adopted by Odin after Loki's Frost Giant father Laufey had been killed in battle. For all of their childhood, Loki was jealous of Thor. Loki's jealousy, which grew to hatred, resulted in a desire to kill Thor. Thus began Loki's enmity for Thor, which persisted for centuries.

The Story so Far: Thor led an active, adventurous life in Asgard, doing battle with Frost Giants and other enemies of the Golden realm. He became Asgard’s greatest warrior and became legendary throughout the Nine Realms. However, Odin watched Thor become more and more arrogant, and tried several times to teach him humility. Over the years, Odin grew increasingly dissatisfied with Thor's headstrong behavior and excessive pride. On one occasion Thor violated a truce between the Asgardians and the Frost Giants, thereby nearly starting another war. Finally, while Thor was engaged in a brawl in an Asgardian tavern, Odin summoned him to his presence.

Odin decided that it was time Thor truly learned humility. Odin had Thor surrender his hammer, Mjolnir, to him, and then sent him to Earth in the mortal guise of a crippled young medical student named Donald Blake, stripped of his memory of his true identity. As Blake, Thor learned the value of humble perseverance in dealing with his injured leg, and he came to care for the sick and dying, first as a medical student, and later as a successful physician. After leaving medical school, Blake opened a private practice in New York, and quickly gained renown as a great surgeon.

After Thor had spent ten years in the role of Blake, Odin planted within Blake's mind the suggestion to take a vacation in Norway. There Blake encountered a party of alien Kronans, also known as the Stone Men from Saturn. Blake fled from the Kronans into a cavern, the very same one that had served as Thor's birthplace millennia ago, where Odin had left Thor's hammer in the enchanted form of a wooden cane. Trapped in the cavern by a great boulder, Blake struck the boulder with the cane in frustrated anger, and was transformed back into his true godly form of Thor. As Thor he escaped the cavern and drove off the Kronans.

At first Thor still had no memory of his past life as an Asgardian god, although as months passed, more of his memories returned. Finally, a few years later, Odin revealed to him the false nature of the Blake identity and the reason for it. Thor maintained his Blake identity on Earth and continued his medical practice. Part of his affinity for Earth was his subconscious realization that his maternal heritage was of this world. The other part was simply his love for humanity and his need to experience those things that only mortals could know. Thor came to divide his time between Earth and Asgard, and does so to this day.

After many more adventurers, Thor became unworthy of the hammer once again and Jane Foster became the new Thor. After becoming worthy again, Thor took up the Mjolnir from the fallen Thor of Earth-218, allowing Jane Foster to continue using his original hammer so that she could protect Midgard and Thor Odinson would serve the Ten Realms and cosmos as a whole.

Characterization: Thor has mellowed over the millennia, but still possesses a fierce pride and has never, and will never, hesitate to go into battle. He is loyal and honorable and one of the greatest heroes in the universe.

Friends and Foes: He has many allies and foes in the Nine Realms and beyond. To list some, he is close to his family and the Asgardian people. He is closest with Balder, Sif, The Warriors Three and Heimdall. He has several close friends in the superhero community including Superman, Captain America, Bruce Banner and Wonder Woman. He has a centuries old friendly (mostly) rivaly with fellow god Hercules.

His greatest rival has been his brother, Loki, who has attempted to kill, embarrass or discredit Thor on countless times over the centuries. He also has great enemies in the Midgard Serpent and Fenris Wolf.

Thor (Jane Foster): Earth-T1

Post by Thorpocalypse »

We've got the companion piece to previous GENERATIONS SPECIAL that's hitting the Aisle 2 shelves!

Image
I don't like having to sneak and hide. It makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong. But all I'm doing is what I swore I would do... When I was a little girl... standing over my mother's grave. I hide because I won't be stopped. And they would try to stop me... If they ever learned the truth. The world needs a Thor. That's all that really matters. We need a God who understands what it means to be humbled. To be mortal. A God who knows how precious life is. How delicate. A God who struggles everyday to live a worthy life. Who suffers so that no one else will have to. A God who loves the Earth enough to die for it. I am Dr. Jane Foster. And I will not stop being The Mighty Thor.

Even though it is killing me. - Thor

Power Loss: Jane can turn back into her mortal form at will, but also when separated from Mjolnir for an extended period of time. In her normal identity, she loses all powers and her stats drop to STR 0, STA 1, AGL 0, FGT 2.
Relationships: She remains close to Thor Odinson.
Responsibility: As she put it, "the world needs a Thor".
Secret Identity: She has kept her identity as Jane Foster a secret so far.

Abilities 106 + Skills 12 (24 ranks) + Advantages 0 + Powers 145 + Defenses 7 = 270 / 270

Build Comments: So a few months ago, we were given a new female Thor, who, after months of speculation, turned out to be Jane Foster. Not a surprise, but a fun angle. I haven’t read anything with her yet, but the general reviews seem to be positive and except for the usual “why, it seems like Mjolnir likes her better” type of moments that always seem to get thrown in to give new characters cred. It’s not like it’s the first time classic Thor has been replaced and it won’t be the last so we’ll ride it out as long as it lasts.

Secret Origins: Jane Foster was a nurse hired by Dr. Donald Blake to assist him in his private medical practice. Actually, the crippled Dr. Donald Blake was the human identity used for many years by the Asgardian god Thor. Jane and Blake traveled to San Diablo during a civil war communistic fraction and a democratic fraction. Because of the fighting, there was a shortage of medical help in San Diablo, and several American doctors. The Executioner (Santiago Rivera ) tried to destroy the medical supplies. Thor was ale to stop him and they helped the people of San Diablo. Blake fell deeply in love with Foster, who was unaware of his dual-identity. She was infatuated with Thor, whom she had not yet met in his godly identity, but took a protective attitude toward him, worrying about his health and frailty. She would regularly gush over Thor's exploits much to Blake annoyance. He wondered if Jane would ever love a normal man like him.

The Story so Far: Jane was involved in many adventure with Thor and Dr. Blake, and although Thor was in love with Jane, his father, Odin, forbade him from revealing his dual identity to her and later forbade him from marrying her. He finally defied his father and after more trials from Odin and Thor’s foes, they were finally together.

After some time together, they decided to split and each went their separate ways. Over time, they became good friends again and Thor visited her frequently on his visits to Midgard. While Thor was away fighting Gorr, Jane was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was dating a man named Walter. She later accepted Thor's invitation to represent Midgard in the Congress of the Worlds on Asgard while she underwent therapy, but refused magical treatments.

During a battle against Nick Fury, Thor lost the ability to wield his hammer Mjolnir. The hammer remained on the Moon, where Thor and the Asgardians remained for some time, as he was unwilling to accept his loss, and attempted numerous times to lift the hammer to no avail. Soon after Thor and the rest of the Asgardians had left the Moon, Jane Foster came and picked up Mjolnir, becoming the new Thor.

After several adventures as Thor, Jane's cancer eventually brought her to the brink of death as she turned back into her mortal form in order to allow Thor Odinson, who had again become worthy of Mjolnir, to wield it once more to defeat the Midgard Serpent. After finally accepting her true heroic nature, Odin was able to save her. After communing with Mjolnir, Thor Odinson presented it to her, noting that he never forged the bond with it that Jane did, allowing her to continue as Thor. She remains on Midgard while the Odinson focuses on Asgard and the other realms.

Characterization: Jane is a strong willed and highly principled woman, which is why she has been considered worthy of wielding Mjolnir. She is a highly skilled nurse.

Friends and Foes: She is close to Thor, and when available, Dr. Donald Blake. She is friends with astrophysicist Erik Gulsvig and her former roommate, Darci.

Build Comments: Duke Thomas first showed up in the Zero Year run of Batman a few years ago. He then became the lead in the We Are Robin book during Batman’s absence after the events of Endgame. After losing his parents, Bruce took him in as his new partner with a yet to be given codename (although an Elseworlds story showed in the future as Lark) but for sure, NOT a Robin.

Although, again, another future timeline shows him as Robin. Sigh…DC continuity…

I haven’t got a great feel for him yet, but he seems to be more in the Tim Drake vein of sidekick, which, if handled right, it’s a good niche to have. It will be interesting to see where they go with him and I have heard that he has really been getting some good development in All-Star Batman so I may have to start picking that up.

Secret Origins/The Story so Far: When the terrorist known as the Riddler shut off all the power in Gotham, the madman challenged the city to get smart or die by natural selection during what would later be called the Zero Year. Riddler told the city that if anyone could ask him a riddle that he couldn't answer, he would restore power to Gotham. Duke Thomas, a confident student at the time, began to train his mind with brain teasers in anticipation of accepting the Riddler's challenge. Duke and Bruce Wayne met for the first time when the Thomas family rescued the unconscious billionaire when Hurricane Rene began its rampage on Gotham simultaneously during the Riddler's plot. Thanking Duke for his kindness, Wayne departed to take on the Riddler himself.

Several years later, the Joker had returned to Gotham with an endgame for Batman in mind. Figuring out the vigilante's secret identity, the Joker kidnapped Duke and his family and planned to recreate Bruce Wayne's parents' murders right in front of him using the Thomas family. Batman managed to rescue Duke from the murderer, but Duke's parents succumbed to the mind controlling gas Joker had released.

Shortly thereafter, Bruce Wayne took him on as a new ward and partner.

Friends and Foes: Duke is forging relationships with the rest of the Bat family but is particularly close to Claire Clover, Gotham Girl.

Let's just be honest here -- this country is as divided as it's ever been. Red and blue, black and white, Republican and Democrat, North and South -- feels like we are constantly at each other's throats. We don't trust each other. We no longer see ourselves in our neighbor. And this is not some intellectual debate -- people are dying. Our streets are burning. Inequality is soaring. It feels like things are about to break wide open. And it used to be -- even if we didn't agree on what to do in our communities, we could at least unite in fighting common enemies. Everybody's okay with beating up Hydra. Even that's not so simple anymore. The good guys -- S.H.I.E.L.D. and the N.S.A. -- are getting caught doing things we never dreamt the bad guys would do, even in our worst nightmares. But the even bigger, scarier problem for me? In all these struggles, all these debates, and all these things tearing us apart -- I have a side. That's right. I have opinions. Strongly held beliefs, even. And here's the thing -- the more I saw the people I believed I was standing up for being walked on -- the more I heard a noise machine spouting intolerance and fear, drowning common sense out -- the more I wondered -- shouldn't Captain America be more than just a symbol? Steve always tried to stay above the fray, and I respected him for it. He took a stand when he had to, but as far as politics went -- he played it close to the vest. But if I really believed I could make a difference -- if I really believed I could change some minds, do some good -- then wasn't I obligated to try? - Captain America

Abilities 62 + Skills 35 (70 ranks) + Advantages 31 + Powers 79 + Defenses 13 = 220 / 220

Build Comments: Ol’ Sam was one of my earlier builds in 2E but it took me a while to get him in 3E the first time around, but I’m not waiting that long here on the new board. I like him as Captain America, and at first I didn’t see it lasting, but I think it might for a while as Marvel continues to go with a more diversified top tier. And Steve is back as Cap, now anyway, so there’s room for both for a good while.

Sam is a different Cap. He’s an effective brawler and goon sweeper, but he needs help against real threats. When working with someone like Steve or with the Avengers, he really shines with his Set Up and Teamwork and with his Avian Control, he can gather a lot of intel quickly, or make things really uncomfortable for a foe with a swarm of birds at his command.

Secret Origins: Sam Wilson grew up in a tough Harlem neighborhood. His father, a minister, had been killed trying to stop a fight. Sam did his best to try and do the right thing, but his grief and anger eventually led him down a criminal path. He took on the name of "Snap" Wilson while working for the mob.

The Story so Far: After an assignment, on the way to Rio de Janeiro, Sam's plane crashed on a remote Caribbean island named Exile where the Red Skull and his henchmen were hiding out. The Red Skull sought to use Wilson as a pawn to attack Captain America (who was currently on the island) with. He used the Cosmic Cube to revert 'Snap' into Sam, and give him the ability to telepathically communicate with birds, especially a bird that Wilson had bought named Redwing. After their initial skirmish, Cap was able to shake Wilson of the Skull's programming. Together they defeated the Skull, and the Falcon became Cap's partner for a long time. The Falcon ultimately left as Cap's partner when he was named the leader of the SHIELD Super-Agents.

Later, as one of the few black superheroes active, he was drafted to join the Avengers by Henry Peter Gyrich to fill a quota. Resenting being a "token," he quit at the first opportunity.

Later, again as the Falcon, Wilson received help from the Black Panther, who created a harness for Wilson, allowing him to fly. When Rogers briefly abandoned his Captain America identity, others attempted to take up the mantle, including a young man named Roscoe whom the Falcon mentored. When the Red Skull eventually killed Roscoe, Rogers again became Captain America.

Then at another point, a Sentinel chased him believing him to be a mutant, but this was later debunked and the Sentinel is presumed to have been malfunctioning. Shortly following this incident he came across, fought and defeated the super villain named Electro.

The insane Scarlet Witch accidentally destabilized the Falcon's mind, pushing him back towards his "Snap" persona, and while he continued to work with Captain America, their relationship became strained, until, finally, Cap felt that he had no choice but to stop working with him. While Falcon argued, a man who the "new" Falcon had forced from his home to use as a safehouse shot Cap in the back (while aiming at Falcon). Thinking Cap dead, Falcon cleaned himself up and went after the so-called "Anti-Cap," who had been causing problems for them both.

He helped Cap track down the Winter Soldier. He was the first to join with Captain America against the Superhuman Registration Act, and played a leadership role in the Secret Avengers. Following Captain America's assassination by the machinations of the Red Skull, the Falcon registered with the government and was made responsible for Harlem, although he remained in contact with the underground New Avengers.

Afterward, S.H.I.E.L.D. recruited the Falcon and agent Sharon Carter to investigate the Captain's assassination by locating the Winter Soldier and tracking down the Red Skull.

Falcon helped the Avengers in their conflict with the Mutants of Utopia. He was sent to keep an eye on the Jean Grey School together with She-Hulk and Moon Knight. A fight soon breaks out however, after Frenzy goads Moon Knight. After She-Hulk injures some kids in the belief that they were greater threats, the conflict becomes full blown and the rest of the faculty attack.

He later rejoined the Avengers in Tony Stark's initiative to expand the team's roster. After the Iron Nail drained Steve Rogers of his super soldier serum, turning him into an old man, Sam took over as Captain America. Steve has since been cured, but has allowed Sam to keep the mantle while continuing as Captain America in his own right.

Characterization: Sam is a well-respected member of the superhero community and a devoted champion of the good fight.

Friends and Foes: He is best friends with Captain America Steve Rogers and has become friends with Bucky Barnes and Black Widow as well other members of Cap’s inner circle, like Sharon Carter.
