You would think a responsible company with any illusions of fairness and justice could wait 24 hours before making statements that would require taking their foot out of their mouth so th next day.

Ah, referring to the Green Ronin comment on sexual harassment and the subsequent followup? Or is this a different company?

Yeah. While I should appreciate the fact similar-ish reaction was the catalyst for Echoes, I just wish the "leadership" there was a bit more thorough before bringing out the big guns. Problem with the internet being what is said can't be unsaid and apologies, retractions and edits can never truly compensate for an initial reaction.

Honestly, I'm not certain whether they actually intended to retract any statement, but rather trying to explain their rationale. I can only imagine that, somewhere out there, someone took offense at what they were saying, and they felt the need to make an official statement rather than "this is what one staff member is saying in the discussion thread".

Although, honestly, I think a bigger problem is that Fildrigar is still their customer-facing guy despite being somewhat harsh to anyone posting threads saying that their attempt to email support is resulting in bounced emails... I had to use the PM system to let one guy know he had to approach such communication with kid gloves, and that he might want to try PMing the other people listed as mods.

I was curious what kind of discussions were going on over at RA and what more has come from this 'evolving situation', but it appears the site is down again.

I've come to the conclusion that GR has some developers that know how to write good games, but the company itself is a mess.

So I didn't realize how big this thing was until I did some searching. RPG.net has a 71 page thread going on about it and there's a few articles or blogs out there too.

One of interesting things I saw were accusastions of Green Ronin deleting Facebook posts from the victims, the victim's supporters, and people criticizing how GR is handling/responding to the whole deal. Brings back unfond memories of 'The Incident' and makes me view GR as huge hypocrites.

FWIW, it's back up again. And the downtime was probably due to some recurring issues with regulars.

Something about the way their official posts you linked to initially makes me feel uneasy, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

As I think I stated before, I think the initial post was probably an attempt to say "Look, we're being responsible!" and the second post is what happened when Legal caught up with them and pointed out that they could not just say these things.

Yeah, this makes Green Ronin look REALLY bad- particularly because they leaped on the guy as soon as he was called-out, possibly shooting their upcoming product in the foot at the same time, then backtracked and said some more stuff. Meanwhile, RPGnet is actively engaging in Moderator outpourings of grief yet again, which makes THEM look bad.

GR really, REALLY needs to work on how they deal with, well, ANYTHING publicly.
