What? :D

I remember there was an actual anime released a few years ago that was kinda decent.

Cry for the Moon!

You know, I always wondered why Japanese theme songs have seemingly random English words in them. Do they actually know what they mean or do they just think they sound cool?

Probably a littlt of both, honestly. The Japanese one they did was ok.Not as groundbreaking as the 90's one,but alright in it's own way....

Apparently they just think it sounds cool. It explains a lot of the "Let's Fighting Love!"-style word salad you see in their titles.

I remember being there on a exchange trip, and the family we were staying with actually asked if the singers were using "good English" when they sang. We didn't even realize they were trying to sing in English! Mainstream pop songs there consistently used random sentences with inexplicable English. Never German or Scandinavian or whatever- just English.

It's hard to know without knowing what the Japanese lyrics are... I suspect the Shock! is just meant as a generic, rock-n-roll style interjection along the lines of "Oh yeah!" or "Whooo!" Maybe the "cry for the moon!" is meant more of a 'howl at the moon' type meaning?
