So, I decided to do something that many Social Justice Warriors seem to avoid: I looked at the facts and did some math.

Not counting Thanos or his "Children of Thanos" henchmen, we have thirty-four heroes or prominent allies. Of these we see that twenty-four are men and ten are women (29%); If we play the game of completely ignoring a character's ethnicity (or, y'know, species) and only look at the actors potraying them then we have 19 Whites (55%), 11 Blacks (33%), and 4 Asians (12%).

Twelve of the twenty-four chracters with male actors die on screen, seven are confirmed to be alive at the end, five are unknown.
Four of the ten chracters with female actors die on screen, three are confirmed to be alive at the end, three are unknown.

So male actors had a 50% death rate, female actors only a 40% death rate.

For Black characters six are dead (54%), two unknown (18%), with only three confirmed as alive (25%) at the end of the film.
For White characters eight are dead (42%), four unknown (21%), with only seven confirmed as alive (37%) at the end of the film.
For Asian characters two are dead (50%), two unknown (50%), with none confirmed as alive (0%) at the end of the film.
  • Male Actors
  • Dave Bautista ( Drax the Destroyer )
  • Jacob Batalon ( Ned )
  • Paul Bettany ( Vision )
  • Chadwick Boseman ( T'Challa / Black Panther )
  • Don Cheadle ( James Rhodes / War Machine )
  • Bradley Cooper ( Rocket )
  • Benedict Cumberbatch ( Stephen Strange / Dr. Strange )

  • Chris Hemsworth ( Thor )
  • Tom Hiddleston ( Loki )
  • Tom Holland ( Peter Parker / Spider-Man )
  • Samuel L. Jackson ( Nick Fury )
  • Anthony Mackie ( Sam Wilson / Falcon )

Since Dave Bautista is Greek (mother's side) and Filipino (father's side) and Pom Klementieff is Korean (mother's side) and French/Russian (father's side) how did you count them?

Personally, I wouldn’t play these silly categorization games to begin with. But, I’m trying to rebut the arguments of people who do... and they all seem to operate on the “one drop rule” used by racists throughout history. For example, Pres. Barrack Obama and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, are always considered “Black,” not “White,” by these folks. I don’t know why.

So Batalon, Bautista, Klementieff, and Wong are the four. Asians by my count, using the silly progressives’ identity politics rules. Mantis and Drax both die, Wong and Ned are unknowns.

I just went see the movie again with my family. Loved it just as much the second go round. On a second re-watch, the only part I found questionable was the fact that it was Peter Parker that came up with the plan to shoot a sentient being out into space where they died horribly in the vacuum of space. Yes, this is a completely evil being dedicated to the murder of half the universe, but it's like watching Batman kill someone, it's just not right. Though they mitigate the idea by having Tony be the one to actually airlock the guy, it was Peter's plan.

Other than that, damned amazing film.

I’m going to assume that rookie hero Spidey just didn’t quite realize how lethal space really is. I mean, sure, he’s a smart kid and a science nerd, so intellectually he knows that the vacuum of space is deadly. But, between pop culture’s overwhelming tendency to depict space as just “more sky” and the fact that only a minute or two earlier Peter had been out there himself... Well, he just kinda forgot.

It could also be that Peter assumed this alien who arrived on Earth without protective space gear might be resilient enough to survive the harshness of space, and thought he'd just be trapping him.

Spider-Man had also seen this guy shrug off everything that he, Iron Man, Dr. Strange, and Wong could throw at him. Back when they had the homefield advantage. Now they were on his turf and one wizard down... They didn't have many options left to end the threat that Darth Squidward posed.
