Ariana sighed to herself, how had Maynard thought to bring in someone with this attitude to a team that only had one successful mission on record was a good idea? "Rationalize it all you want, but the authorities might still think a lie of omission is still a lie. We need to go at this as a team, otherwise, the press is going to shred us again. Plus we have members who worked together in the previous incident gone, the press will try to use that against us, point out how can we be a true team if we can't even keep the same roster between two missions. We need to minimize anything they could use against us to turn the public against us. Plus for all we know some of these creeps could be out of costume in the area casing places, splitting up isn't an option until we have more intel."

"We should... réduire... merde... ... uh ... mitigate the problem of our absent members by simply not sending everyone. Then, when asked where the other members are, the honest answer is 'we didn't bring everyone just to look for clues,'" Hercule said. Clearly "mitigate" wasn't on his list of frequently used English words.

"I am thinking, I should work on costume for le Cachalot, anyway.

"Too much talking," Maki says abruptly. "This group needs a leader. Pick whoever you want, I will obey them as long as I am paid and have access to your medical files."

HP: 2; Condition: Fine
OOC: Call Arkrite Johnny 'cause I'm putting him on the spot! :)
"Doc's right," Slyce said. "On every good football I've been on, we always had a good quarterback. That person that no matter how far your team is down, no matter how bad they've playing, you could look them in their eyes and those eyes said 'we're winning this f'n game.' "I saw that look in the bar the other night and I know countless others have seen it over the years, too."

"Harry," he said looking at the Shield. "I vote for you. I know it may not be what you want, but you've been in the game longer than any of us. Rena and I have too much baggage to take the role on, even if we wanted it. The rest are too new. You make the call and we'll go with it. We all go in together, or let Rena do her thing while we keep everyone's attention. I got your back either way."

"Honestly I agree with Silver Witch. We can justify it any way we want, but I doubt the police are going to care about our reasoning. They'll just see the new superhero team sticking their nose where it doesn't belong, and disrespecting them. And it's be harder to work with them in the future."

He leans forward and steeples his hands taking his time to think for a moment.

"I think we should, as a team, go and do some investigating. While I appreciate the approach you're offering, Halcyon, I think we need to hedge our bets on our longterm relationship with the police. If we need to, your option will always be on the table, and we'll use it if we need to. But if we start off on the right leg we might save ourselves a lot of work in the long run."

He didn't doubt that Halcyon could see the value in what he was suggesting, but he got the feeling she wasn't used to working in the same area for long. Probably she came in, did her job and moved on. A situation where her approach was ideal as it was fast, efficient, and the fallout was minimal since her next mission would be undoubtedly anywhere else.

Or so he assumed. What he knew about the woman he could write on the back of a book of matches.

Xavion moved over to The Shield and put his fist out in front of The Shield, looking for some dap. "Word," he said. "That's the plan then. Let's roll before the trail gets too cold."

"But I'm not riding in that raggedy ass truck of yours, Harry," he said with a wink. "But if I have to, I'm damn sure not sitting in the middle. It's Herc's turn!"

Rena merely nodded at Harry in acknowledgement. Harry was one of the few people that when he spoke she listened. whatever cracks or snark she might throw his way out of combat She knew when the crap hit the fan Harry was the one she'd follow into hell if he asked.

Still she needed to take precautions she knew what could happen if certain people got wind of her being there and not just enemies either. There were some Heroes who might make trouble for her new team if she wasn't careful.

There is a slight awkward pause before a confused Harry manages to realize what he's supposed to do, and fist bumps Slyce.

Looking quite a bit like an old grandpa trying to ape the actions of his much cooler grandson.

"And besides, if things do go south, we can just blame it on Neville not doing enough research on her in the first place." He winked at Mayne and then smiled a sly smile at the face on the screen, eagerly awaiting his insulted response.
Neville is shocked and appalled. "Not doing enough resear-- I ALWAYS do enough... hang on..." he says, furiously updating his notes on Barracuda, on whom he'd not done enough research.

Maynard smirks at Neville's frustration, then turns to the group, "You know, I'm liking this brainstorming session- a lot of different voices, some very intelligent ones, all coming together to get a solution working! It's just like the boardrooms with my company, except nobody's sleeping or looking up porn on their phones while I'm talking!" He checks around, making sure nobody's actually on their phones.

Regarding the nomination of the Shield for group leadership, he adds "Now, now, guys... we don't want to PRESSURE our good friend and elder statesman into doing something he's not comfortable with!" he adds a nervous laugh, like he tends to do when he doesn't want to be pushy. "I mean, if he WANTED TO, he could be a great help to our team as a liaison to other super-heroes, or with handling the press, or leading the team in the field... but again... no PRESSURE." he almost visibly winks at the Shield.

"It sounds like a solid plan, though" Maynard adds, "The visible heroes can arrive in a large-ish group to search for clues and talk to the police and witnesses, while Halcyon and possibly Slyce can move in via the back. I never wanted her to be that obvious a presence on the team, anyhow- her past and her skillset are better suited for working in the shadows. Also we needed someone to fly the plane. Halcyon, we need you to fly the plane over there." he adds uncomfortably.

"Are we in sync, here? Le'ts fire up the plane!" And with that, the team should be off.

OOC: Please describe your action plans as you arrive near the dock where the yacht is located. There will be a few police cars out front, harried witnesses wandering around, etc. Presumably you'll park the plane somewhere and move in without Halcyon, who can head out wherever she wishes.

During the flight, Adrien will suggest that, since the plane will have to go into VTOL mode to land, that whomever can (flying or leaping) leave the jet before it lands, to make an even bigger display of the Victory League arriving. Also, since the team is new, their jet can't be well known yet and the sooner the police know that the jet is the Victory League's the better. We don't need to arrive to a bunch of police pointing guns at an unknown aircraft.

Any remaining action plan will based on how well this suggestion goes.

Semilla (Rosa 'barked up' before boarding the plane) seems mostly unsure of what she should be doing. She initially blanches at the idea of exiting the plane while it's in flight. But after pondering a moment she concedes. "If there are structures around I can reach and use to slow or redirect my fall..."

Halcyon
HP: 1; Condition: Foxy lady

As the team started to leave Rena pulled Harry to the side and began talking to him in hushed terse whispers. Harrys response was firm but he nodded at her concerns and spoke back quietly until she at last sighed and nodded in affirmation as Harry put a gentle hand on her shoulder, She gave a quirky smile but then left the room.

Several minutes later she appeared as the group was loading into the transport, She was wearing a her usual jump suit but had made some 'alterations' to it. Namely adjusting the suits camo systems to a dark blood red, and adding a loose Hood to the neck. The suits gloves and boots were black and the full face mask she wore gave the impression of a fox. She sauntered up the ramp pausing only long enough to remove the mask and give Harry a sultry wink as she did before laughing merrily at the memories of their time in Montreal as she sat down at the Pilots chair and began her pre flight checklist.

She was already checked out on the prototype having tested it for Maynard as one of her first tasks for him. bringing the engines up to a dull roar she carefully lifted the plane off the ground gave it a couple of seconds to rev the engines to full power, and then took off like a shot accelerating to top end and putting it through its paces with a hint of recklessness but never losing full control of the craft. She was by no means an ace pilot of any sort bu she could get them where she needed to be and back again that was for sure all while having a bit of fun along the way.

To any questions from the group about her outfit she responded easily in a slightly Canadian version of the French language "Le Renard Rouge enchante."

Harry and Xavion were both of course fully familiar with her alternate identity her having met Harry under that identity during their Montreal misadventure, and Xavion in Paris that one time at the Eiffel tower.

"Halcyon is a name best used among us and in private it brings a certain Baggage with it that I'd rather not burden the group with at this time." she said in her normal uninflected voice as she kept her eyes on the instrument displays "La Renard Rouge on the other hand, is a known if mysterious vigilante who aided the Shield in cracking a terrorist cell a few years back." she continued her voice smoothly sliding back into the lightly accented French.

"Now strap in, were approaching the drop zone if you still want to go for the flashy entrance." she spoke her voice crisp and professional as the plane went into a controlled dive before leveling off with a stomach churning twist as she brought them to where they could execute their arrival.

Couple quick notes

If Ark wants to rp out their convo Id be happy to or I can PM you a quick note its mainly Rena's concerns about being public and Harrys reassurances as he well knows the game and her idea of reusing the old Red Fox identity as a bit of a happy medium between a public appearance and her remaining in the background. Your idea Ark ;)

Jabs call but off hand id say anyone with basic hero knowledge has heard of the Shield shutting down a terrorist group that attempted to use a dirty bomb in Montreal with the aid of a mysterious red vigilante and the same costumed woman showing up in Paris a year or so later engaging in a chase up the Eiffel tower before parachuting off it to thwart an assassination attempt

the costume is mostly fluff and has no distinguishing abilities or differences from her usual costume save the color

Take the transport to the landing zone drop off the group and then land it in safe spot presuming the group continues with flashy entrance plans

Once landed Rena will move in on cats feet and basically investigate the area quietly

Harry gives Maynard a strained smile, not really looking forward to dealing with the media.

He nods to Halcyon's request to pull out a different heroic identity. He didn't see anything wrong with it, and even if he did he wouldn't have had a leg to stand on if he'd argued it. Superhero types hid their identities all the time, after all.

But it was never the costume that mattered as much as what you did while wearing it.

At le Petit Hercule's suggestion, and Semilla's concern he speaks up, "I like the idea, a dynamic entrance could look pretty impressive. But if you mess up the landing, or damage something, the news will be happy to run with it."

"If anybody wants to do a flashy entrance go ahead, but play it safe,"
He says then adds with a smile, "I'll be waiting until the plane gets lower."

He makes his way to the cockpit and sits in the copilot seat, "So, Renard, think you can give an old man a refresher class? I haven't flown one of these birds since... Well, it was quite some time ago."

Once at the site he immediately makes his way over to the police, shield tucked over his shoulder, making his way over with a relaxed confidant stride.

"Officers. May I have a minute of your time?"

Silver Witch

Playing along with the idea, Silver Witch got out of the jet as they neared the site, glowing silver as she floated to the ground in the hopes her distinctive appearance would let the police know it was the Victory League who had arrived.
