The Stand

Post by Camus »

The samurai struggle to his feet, and with his sword already out, attempts to insult Dai Jin, but is soon overwhelmed by the Ming's fierce attack. He parries and dodges, but a deep cut finds purchase under his armour, and he backpeddals a few feet, nourishing the wound. "How dare you attack us, and dirten the name of Lord Inagawa! He had nothing to do with your little firecracker show! I will show you dishonour by not allowing you seppuku! " he man shouts, and then points his underling at Dai Jin who promptly breaks into a charge. He then follows, sword on his back. Both attack her in a combined effort, but Dai Jin parries and deflects their attacks with ease. The samurai then grins, as he hears the hooves of the horses charging from behind. A samurai raider charges in, naginata pointed towards Dai Jin! She manages to deflect the attack from the samurai, much to his surprise.
Other horses ride past Dai Jin and into the melee with the oda soldiers. Both small armies clash, and two raiders go down, speared by the emboldened Oda ashigaru. One of the raiders turns left and charges Yahata, who simple sidesteps the attack. Two ashigaru from the Oda run to his aid, attacking the raider with their spears. Although they manage to hit him twice, his hard armour simply bounces off the tips of the spears.
Farther away from the melee, Kuro is still standing on the horse when two Inagawa ashigaru charge in from the back, one striking squarely in his back with the sharp naginata!

Everyone is up!

Soyokaze opens the bottle just a little and the naginata hit is blown off course..
deflect: 1D20+8 = [12]+8 = 20

He has extended range so Kuro is well within.
and potentially hits the man next to him.
redirect: 1D20+8 = [7]+8 = 15
, if it hits then... DC 20 toughness for the guy next to him. (Might be vulnerable to it since he might not expect it)
Soyokaze will nod at the Darkness demon if he even notices.

Kuroi Kiri
Hp: 0
Cnd: Death reaps it's toll

Kuro bristled with wounded pride that one of the enemy soldiers had gottem the drop on him, let alone that Soyokaze had intervened on his behalf. Never the less, he nodded his thanks to the ancient alchemist.

"Know your place, Imagawa cur." Kuro snarled as he whirled around, his billowing robes seeming to move with a mind of their own as he used them to mask his attack as a clawed hand reached out to gut the enemy soldier.

YAHATA
HP: 0
Condition: Normal (Jingu: Paralyzed)

Inagawa wasn't responsible for the attack on the temple? Well, it did make sense to Yahata. If the rival Lord was the one who orchestrated the attack, certainly he would have coordinated the entirety of his forces to be nearer and ready to ensure a total victory. So these soldiers were just vultures here to pick at the remains of another's actions?

"Stand back," Yahata advised the pair of Oda's soldiers that were engaged with the samurai before them. Partly because he didn't want them to risk their own safety, and partly because the demigod wanted to face him alone.

With a flick of the warrior's wrist, the bow that Jingu had formed flipped into the air. "Focus now," Yahata jeered at the captain. The move was meant as a distraction, with Jingu falling down into its master's hand as a polished blade, just before the god of war slashed at his foe's thigh!
Jingu will take a Move Action to change its Weapon Form to a sword. Same traits as before, only replacing Bow with
Sword: Strength-based Damage 2 (Affects Others Only, Improved Critical, Variable Descriptor: Magical/Slashing; 4 PP

Yahata will Feint Raider Captain 2 as a Move Action using Expertise: Warfare. Based on Agile Feint, it should be opposed by the better of Insight, Expertise: Warfare, or another similar skill. Whether R2 succeeds or fails, Yahata will then use a Standard Action to Power Attack +/-1 with the sword.
Move Action Warfare Feint vs Captain R2: 1D20+10-5 = [20]+10-5 = 25
Sword Power Attack +/-1, Improved Critical vs Captain R2: 1D20+7-1 = [12]+7-1 = 18

That should be a hit, so DC 25 Toughness.
Captain R2 Toughness vs DC 25, 1 Damage: 1D20+6-1 = [1]+6-1 = 6
Well, that may be the best 1 I'll ever roll. That's four degrees of failure.

Hama smiled as she looked over the battlefield. Imagawa's cavalry was accomplishing nothing. Yahata could hold his own, as could Dai Jin and Kuroi. Oda's rank-and-file were clearly of lesser stock then her companions, however. A dismissive flick of her hand sent the two of Imagawa's raiders who were engaged with Oda's soldiers snapping sideways, throwing them into each other.

Soyokaze crosses in front of Hama to stand next to the line of refuge soldiers joining them in watching the battle and emphasizing how awesomely their forces are doing. He waves away some of the dust kicked up by the charge.

A handful of dust releases and spreads unerringly to settle over the foes of the Eternal swordswoman.

As the Oda warrior on the end releases more of his internal wind Soyokaze wrinkles his old nose. "After this have some herbs against flatulence you should use." he promises.

[Befuddle dust over Dai’s 3 opponents. R1,R3, And 3. Soyokaze’s at Q26.

The Stand

Post by Camus »

Although Hama's powers seem to leave her for a moment, as her magic cannot grab hold of the Inagawa soldiers, the swift retaliation of the Oda Clan is devastating. While moving forward, Soyokaze protects Kuro and makes the soldiers fighting Dai Jin try to fight the confounding dust that blows magically towards them. The Ashigaru is hit by the captain, knocking him unconscious. In that same moment, Akihito rains arrows on the enemies, however only the wounded samurai is hit, superficially. Dai Jin uses the opportunity to dash forward and stab the man in the abdomen. The man looks at her, gritting his teeth and dropping his weapon. Seconds after his expression relaxes and he drops dead, painting the sword of the warrior woman red. The death of their leader seems to affect the Inagawa right away. Kuro has no problem opening the belly of one of his attackers.
Further back, Yahata expertly chops the head off one of the samurai, with the ease that only millennia of practice can give you. The oda soldiers are encouraged and charge the two ashigaru that remain in the front, bringing them down with their spears and then promptly stabbing them once they have fallen from their horses.
Seeing the battle turning against them, the remaining enemies turn tail in their horses and speed back to where they came from!

Everyone is up!

Soyokaze agrees, looking with some regret at the bloodshed. It was a sign of the times that such was necessary but it still caused the old man a sadness at the loss of life.

He turns to the temple instead. Had he heard right that the fire was not an artifact of their foes? And the term 'firecracker show' implied something altogether different than a simple fire. Soyokaze approaches it once again trying to suss out what truly happened.
[How prevalent is gunpowder?]
[Will an investigation roll let me determine what all happened here? Wheree the fire started, how it progressed? The involvement of explosives?

Akihito
HP- 0 Conditon-Normal

Ordering the Oda Soldiers to not follow, the Archer started working his shoulder as he said to the other Virtues
"Alright, our first two priorities are as follows:Find out if Lord Nobunaga really is dead, because we're not certain he was even IN the Temple at the time and our next one is to take these survivors to Owari and prepare for a Siege...Honestly,we need to head for Owari now,for as much as it pains me to say it,Lord Nobunaga'll have to wait.Unless someone has a better idea..."
i can't believe that plan ACTUALLY WORKED!

Hama
HP 1, LP 4 : Victorious

Hama roared in triumph as Imagawa's men turned tail, a loud deep cry that seemed entirely too powerful for a woman her size. She walked forward, a grin splitting her face and a bounce in her step, gathering with the others.
"Lead, lead. It will be wet soon, and I doubt any but me will enjoy it." she told Akihito, before setting her gaze on the clouds gathering to the south.

Kuroi Kiri
Hp: 0
Cnd: Blood sates the Beast

Kuro's impassive mask of a face observed Hama's triumphant roar with some measure of appreciation as he flowed back across the battlefield to join the others.

"Yes, let us make haste from this place. Don't dawdle old fool, be done with your poking and prodding quick so you may lead your precious flock to the safety of Owari."

Kuro looked squarely at Soyokaze as he spoke with a mix of familiarity and exasperated annoyance.

Soyokaze

Looking at the wreckage as a whole the old healer tries to piece together where and how the fire started and spread.
