Intrepid
Condition: Normal
HP: 1

Intrepid stared at the wall, and it was if time stood still.

She was suddenly there, watching but unable to help, as Dawnstar and Wildfire fought valiantly against three of the giant robots on a remote planet in UP Space. They were outmatched, but they fought to buy time as denizens of the world attempted to flee, saving as many of their people as they could.

So few made it.

Intrepid made a point of remembering the planet's name, even though it was gone. Thundera. She hoped the survivors would find a new home.

She watched in horror as Dawnstar and Wildfire were effectively neutralized and then the giant cloud appeared. It appeared almost from nowhere, absolutely enveloping the planet like a blanket. It squeezed shut, the planet was crushed and it disappeared just as fast. In the rubble of the planet floated a loan woman. Intrepid could see it was Dawnfire.

Forward days or weeks, and fights across UP Space with more of the robots. But the Legion was better prepared, better equipped, and no more planets fell. Until the Vega system. A battle with an army of the robots. The Legion and the Science Police allied with races normally thought of as criminals and enemies. It made no sense. To make it worse, A time displaced being claiming to be a descendant of Superman appeared to help. The day was won, but at the cost of Interpid (the original) and countless Science Police.

Time rolled forward for the Half Daxamite, and she saw another battle, and in her own arrogance she took the colors and name of her uncle. But according to most, she earned the right to keep them. The memory of standing toe-to-toe with Supergirl, against Dawnfire caused to reach out toward the statue of Wildstar. Her hand was inches away from the stone. A joint blow from Supergirl and Intrepid brought Dawnfire down.

Interrogations. A broken mind control over the woman that would be herald to the World Killer. The robots would return from time to time, but they were scattered through time. Teams were dispatched. Intrepid found herself taking her namesake's place with the very squad that had defended Vega. They fought more of the robots, alongside another Superman. And when they had won, her teammates fond themselves displaced - their minds having jumped seven years of their own lives, joining her in the far future.

The so-called World Killer, the Omega, end of all life. He wanted the universe. But not just now. In the past, in the future. He wanted all of reality to end. And he was just getting started. Time was running out somehow.

There was a connection of some kind to Superman. Not Kryptonian, Daxamite, Viltrumite, Hydrosian or anyone else who fit the so-called Krypton Protocols. Actual bearers of the mantle of Superman. Somehow. It was Quantum Kid that suggested the Source Wall. And he had been onto something.

Lauren was aware of Dream Princess' sudden appearance, and it startled her. But she continued to float towards the wall, her fingers reaching slowly towards Wildstar. And then Quantum Kid took action.

"Ahhhhh!" She screamed.

Fortitude: 1d20+10 27 I guessed Fortitude?

Bladewind said he was going to post that summary, but since I was on the computer, he asked me to...

Quantum's rather drastic move severs whatever hold the wall had on Intrepid.

I need an Init roll from Quantum, and Intrepid. Dreamer can either roll an init as well, or choose to aid Quantum.
Unusual, but it's to see if Intrepid touches the wall before you all stop her.

Unfortunately, Solar Hawk is successful in boosting the signal and you all feel the effects of Quantum literally reaching into the Daxamite's mind.

Yes. The telepathic circuit is up.

Dreamer will assist since her own init modifier isn't amazing but she does have the Teamwork advantage for better aiding. +5 to Quantum Lad if successful assist. Initiative: 1D20+3 = [10]+3 = 13

Uh oh... :P
Wait! If the Teamwork stacks, that's a tie! So we go to Agility... and it looks to me like it's still tied between Intrepid and Quantum Kid. So Awareness - where QK beats Intrepid. This is actually super close :!: :!: :!:

Close does not even begin to describe it.

Everything seems to happen at once, Quantum Kid reaches towards Intrepid, trying to distract her and ultimately prevent her from touching the Source Wall. His knowledge on the Wall seemed the greatest at the moment - or at least his knowledge of the myths and legends surrounding the Great Barrier seemed the greatest - no one truly knew what touching the wall would mean. Absorption? Passing through? And for the first time in recorded history there was appeared to be a doorway.

Dream Princess attempted to distract Intrepid for a brief second as Quantum Kid made his move.

Intrepid's scream goes unheard in space - but not through your telepathic relay. Quantum Kid is knocked back, Intrepid is pushed away from the wall.

And Quantum Kid finds himself floating towards the blank space that makes up the dormant portal. A faint ripple of energy plays over it, and at this proximity it looks almost like the stone surface is more liquid than stone. The wall calls to Quantum once more.

Back on Earth, in the year where your mission began, Legion HQ is coordinating assault and defense. In the away team's absence, they also seem to have become a hub for coordination not only in the now, but through time itself. Legionnaires are few and far between in the halls of their HQ, mostly coming and going on various missions. One of the constructs housing a portion of Brainiac 5's consciousness walks beside a

"No. We have not heard from the Source Wall mission and that concerns me." The construct's tone and demeanor are devoid of emotion, and don't convey any sense of concern. "With a Time Sphere at their disposal they should have reported by now."

The Brainiac 5 construct stops to key something into a wall panel and a door opens. It gestures for his two companions to follow.

Even at this distance, Xiao could feel the pain through the telepathic earplugs. Dammit, this is not going well. he hated being leader and this was why. Still he was damned if he was going to let his team get hurt.
“Solarhawk, you are in charge here until I return,” he ordered, “Dawnfire, do not leave the ship.” Last thing he wanted was for her presence to complicate matters.

He concentrated, index finger and thumb on his right hand slowly at first, but steadily getting faster over a period of a few seconds , making a circular motion. The image of a dragon head appeared in front of him, its mouth steadily widening, what appeared to be flame held inside.

He stepped into the fire and appeared a second later outside of the ship. Holding the same two fingers against his forehead, a pair of firey dragon wings burst from his back and he flew as fast as he could towards Quantum Kid who was perilously close to the portal, intent on catching him.

The psychic backlash is enough to keep the pull of the wall from affecting Dragonmage, he reaches Quantum Kid, but he passes through the insubstantial form of his teammate.

Intrepid is prevented from touching the wall in any form, but as QK turns in his efforts to protect Intrepid and naturally moves as Dragonmage enters his personal space, the insubstantial Legionnaire brushes against and into the empty area that is between the forms of the probots. There is a flash of light, it is blinding to almost everyone, leaving spots in your vision.

Solarhawk watches Dawnfire, the latter simply staring at the event and she wonders exactly what Dragonmage expected her to do if Dawnfire decided to leave.

As your vision clears, QK and Dragonmage feel as if reality has turned inside out. Instead of the blackness of space, there is whiteness. The vastness is hard on the eyes and you turn away to see the Source Wall. It must be the source wall considering its length, and color. But, the wall is smooth. Blank. Save for mortar lines and the odd crack in the surface, it is a blank canvas.

Through the telepathic earplugs, you can hear your teammates (and they can hear you) . But they are muted. Distant and difficult to hear clearly.**

*There are a couple of typos in Interpid`s summary of events, mostly in Wildfire's name.
** The best analogy that comes to mind is from Hunger Games: Catching Fire when Katniss and Finnick are on one side of a barrier and everyone else on the other. They`re banging on what seems to be glass, and can sort of hear each other but barely. There are likely other examples, but that was the first to come to mind.

Dragonmage

“We’re not where we should be. Are you okay?” he asked QK.

He was sure that what was on this side wasn’t actually white, but what his brain was interpreting in order to prevent him from going insane. Something was clearly on this side judging from the fact that a portal had been created to allow passage. Interestingly, he couldn’t see the gateway. Did it actually lead through the Source Wall or was it from somewhere else?

He hammered on the wall for a moment to test the reaction, hoping they might be transported back to the other side.
“We are alive, just on the other side of the Source Wall,” he mentally transmitted to their teammates on the other side, “do not touch the wall under any circumstances unless I say otherwise. We do not need more people trapped over here.”
He closed his eyes, mentally adapting the spells he knew to analyse the wall from this side. He doubted he could just blast their way out, but anything they learned would be useful.
Expertise:Magic
Variable – analyse the wall chemically, structurally, magically
He may not be able to understand the information, but QK might.

Intrepid moves back to the wall and immediately touches it to see if there is any effect. There were stories... stories of those who attempted to breach the barrier. They never came back. Were the three of them statues on the other side now?

Quantum Kid is unresponsive, and for the first time in her life Intrepid has an odd feeling of emptiness as for the first time she has no sense of the passage of time. It`s not like losing one of your major senses but it is disconcerting.

It seems that the Dragonmage`s theory about dealing with the unimaginable is correct, because slowly - or quickly, you really can`t tell - the white fades to a reddish hue:

Image

Analysis of the wall suggests that it is laced with Radion, Gold and a number of heavy metals in addition to stone.

One Month Ago

With half the team on one side of the Source Wall, and the other in normal space on the other, Dragonmage's mission was no closer to bringing answers. Their Legion Cruiser was downloading information at a phenomenal rate with Solarhawk doing her best to keep the details in some semblance of order. With their two missing teammates trapped in the source wall and the apparent, offspring for want of a better word, no closer to giving or getting answers it was still a strange and frustrating mystery that faced the Legion.

That's when a ship arrived in the Bleed. Those trapped on the other side of the Wall were brought on board where they were greeted by a winged man who identified himself as Apollo. His features were vaguely reminiscent of Earth-Born Native Americans. He introduced you to the only two other crewmembers on board, a woman he identified as Captain Danvers and a young woman by the name of Rachel Palmer. Their ship, he explained was a timeship and was known as the Pheonix.

The Pheonix crew was trying to fix ripples in time that were affecting the multiverse. You weren't their mission, but the Source Wall energies were anomalous in this time and along this particular reality's wall. Their was no evidence of any other timeline experiencing attacks by the so-caled Killbots.

Dragonmage's team was returned to their side of the Source Wall, and the Pheonix's AI added her database's knowledge about the mysterious gate. IT seems the Killbots reminded the AI of Parademons from the Pheonix's home reality. You returned to Earth and have been working with the other members of the Legion to decipher the reams of information that were downloaded.

It would seem that Darkseid is involved somehow after all, and a team will be dispatched to explore that avenue.

* * * * *

At roughly the same time that Dragonmage and his team were being picked up and returned to Earth, Vanguard* located what at first seemed to be a stasis pod floating in the asteroid belt near Ceres. It had apparently been there for several hundred if not thousand years. No connection to the current crisis was found, but Solarhawk and Vanguard have been acting a little weirdly around the figure found within. Hawkangel, a little known (in this era) hero from the 21st century was found in stasis within! He was vetted, questioned and debriefed and when Dragonmage protested about him being assigned to his team, that's exactly what happened.

* * * * *

During their downtime, rest and examination of all the details that they had uncovered, Dragonmage's team found themselves cooling their jets. Interpid was to the Time Institute to study some readings, Kid Quantum did not return (Dragonmage has felt accusatory stares, real or not, over the matter) and Dawnfire has been seen staring at the image of her "parents" almost begging to return to the Wall.

* * * * *

Now:

Dragonmage's assignment, is about to be given along with other missions regarding the incursions.

As the other missions are being assigned and away-teams are formed, Dragonmage looks down at a datapad with his latest team. One which he had no real say in its composition. Red Streak, perhaps a welcome addition, is a speedster from the Flash lineage. Maverick was one that Dragonmage would likely feel stuck with - another outsider, perhaps allowed to join too easily, one he might not have chosen if he needed a thinker on the team. Intrepid and Solarhawk were solid additions, and perhaps the only two members that Dragonmage might welcome. It was the addition of Hawkangel that rattled though, and it might be worth protesting if not for the fact that Solarhawk seemed very interested in the young man.

*Vanguard is a Legionnaire in good standing, boyfriend of Solarhawk and son of Jenni Ognats (Xs) and Dyrk Magz (Formerly Magno)
** I am presuming a lot here for Dragonmage, feel free to "tone it down" or change it up a bit. I wil give the group a chance to interact a bit before giving the assignment as such. The scenario is much like the Rebel briefing in RotJ, with Brainiac 5 taking the role of Mon Mothma and Admiral Akbar's role filled by the current Legion leader, Saturn Woman.

Hawkangel

Leaning back against the back wall of the briefing room as tall muscular figure. His costume was a kind of semi-glossy graphite in color, banded with burnished gold. He wore the hawk helmet of a Thanagarian, albeit in an ancient archaic style, and lacked the natural-born wings of that warlike race. What little skin could be seen around his mouth was a lighter grey than his costume while intense golden irises surveyed the situation room.

Rumors had spread about the mysterious man, that he'd been found floating in the outer reaches of the solar system, apparently adrift for a very long time. Still he sported a Legionnaire flight ring so the higher ups must have vetted him to their satisfaction.

With nothing better to do, he'd reported early, first in the room it would seem, awaiting the next arrival...
