Team Cerberus (IC)

Post by Tattooedman »

Somewhere in the United States:

A Boeing CH-47 Chinook, a twin-engine, tandem-rotor, heavy-lift helicopter for those among you that would know such things, makes its way through the air in the early morning hour where the hint of sunrise is just a vague notion.

Inside the transport, you are seated in the vehicle's large back passenger compartment. a=All of you are still wearing your orange prison fatigues while those of you that possess super human abilities are wearing power suppressing gear. None the less, all of you are wearing of handcuffs that completely englobe your hands paired with ankle restraints that heavily limit your ability to walk. Not that it matters as you are seated far enough away from each other that none of you can speak to each other without raising your voice to be heard over the sounds of the transport. And the very alert group of AEGIS agents, each of whom are wearing heavy armor, are scattered amongst all of you are watching like a hawk, making it clear that there was to be no talking.

Each of you were pulled from your cells in Blackstone Prison in the middle of the night last night and were hurriedly processed for a transfer you were unaware of happening. You were taken to the prison yard where this large helicopter landed, and you were quickly loaded onto. You have no idea where you’re heading but clearly something is afoot given the others you are travelling with.

Effectively, you are all alone with your thoughts for the time being.

Felicity was a little ball of a dozen and more annoyances. The fatigues were too orange, and didn't fit well, and were made of possibly the most uncomfortable material possible, and that was nothing to say of the apparatus on her hands. Unlike the restraints of the others, the device covering the cat burglar's hands was etched with various scratchings of magical nature, not that she understood them, but she did know they were intended to suppress her powers to keep them from causing the helicopter from fouling up, making the trip shorter than expected, among other possible escape plans, and they pinched on her wrists uncomfortably.

So with nowhere to go and nothing else to do, the grumpy-looking cat burglar glances around at the other various miscreants loaded up on the whirlybird, sizing them up, wondering if any of them had some kind of secret ace in the hole for some brilliant escape plan she might piggyback on, recognizing at least a few from where she was sitting, if by nothing more than reputation.

Felicity is broken from her thoughts by a passing AEGIS agent guard. "Hey, don't suppose you'd be a dear and loosen these glove things a little bit? They're digging into my wrists and I think I can't feel my hands very well, maybe cutting off the circulation." she tried a watery smile to put the guard off-guard and was ignored for her trouble, frowning at the guard's back as he continued on. "Well fine, BE that way." she harumphed grumpily.

It wasn't often that you got randomly puled out of your prison cell and loaded onto a helicopter without a single word as to why it was happening or where you were even going. He'd consider himself lucky to be a member of that very special select group of people if it wasn't for the fact this was all probably going to end poorly one way or another. When someone took a prisoner out of their cell well ahead of their release date, it was generally to do something that said prisoner really rather not. He'd heard plenty of stories in the underworld to realize that it's not all that unfeasible for the government to do something secretive and nefarious to criminals like himself.

Dave supposed he'd have to wait and see either way.

Unlike his cell, the lights in here were dim enough that while still unpleasant, at least allowed him to get a good look around at those accompanying him on this amazing journey that was totally not going to end in evil experimentation. Some of them he'd actually heard of before. Legends in their fields, or legends for their lunacy. A couple that seemed more akin to street-punks then hardened super-villains, but appearances weren't everything.

"Well fine, BE that way."

There we go. He'd been looking for an excuse to break the silence, and he was nothing if not an opportunist. "You'd have better luck talking to a brick wall. Would net you similar results in the end."
Am I dead? Am I alive? The answer may surprise you!

Madame Curare

Prisoner #24-601 -- She didn't think of herself as "Madae Curare" in these orange prisoner clothes and she hadn't thought of herslef as "Mary Corey" in nearly a century -- allowed herself a small smile when she noticed the guards who came to scoop her out of her cell weren't her usual Mon-Wed-Thu shift. The fat one was missing. Food poisoning was a petty little revenge, but, she'd been putting up with his attempt at playing the petty tyrant for nearly fifteen years. She'd learned long before that fat guard had even been born that starvation wouldn't kill her, but it did hurt like hell. Being denied a third of her meals wasn't remotely dangerous... But it was uncomfortable. So she'd have to satisfy herself knowing he'd made him equally uncomfortable. Probably scared the hell out of him too.

Helicopter. Big one. she noted as she was escorted into the back of the twin-rotor craft. Never did learn the names of these things. They started using this one back during the Vietnam War, didn't they? So where ever we're going must be close enough not to require a jetliner but too far away to use a van. Interesting.

Prisoner #24-601 complied with her guards' gentle prodding. Offering only enough resistance that they did have to guide her by the elbow, but not enough that they needed to get more physical than that. Never show total compliance, that makes you weak. Never show futile resistance, that makes you foolish. Prisoner #24-601 sat in her seat, eyes closed, and listened for the shift in pitch that indicated the helicopter was no longer climbing but had entered level flight. She scanned the rest of the prisoners with a trained eye.

Quite the little collection they've assembled here.

"You should heed to Mr. Wavaski's words, Ms. Black." she said, breaking her silence, "AEGIS trains its people not to make 'small talk.' Besides, we all know that you know where curiosity led the proverbial cat."

The Orange jumpsuit was a touch tight now(he'd been doing some working out in the yard since they wouldn't let him anywhere near chemical's after that one guy ticked him off and learned the hard way how to make homemade Arsenic...),he'd have to talk to the guards about changing it.....if he even lived past this. This was just all kinds of shady, the shady that spoke of big money&little to no oversite so that meant either Private Sector or Blackout Government(one would be suprised at what a Government Legislatior's Mistress teaches their child)......

"well fine,BE that way."

"you'd have better luck talking to a brick wall.would net you similar results in the end"

Knocked out of his private musings,Alex grinned as he tossed in his two cents(his Revolutionary leanings getting the better of his common sense right now).Nudging the near albino beside him(Tsalmaveth),he said

"Ah,you know these Government Stooges aren't going to tell us anything anyway.i know i'm gonna get into trouble anyway,so #%@$ it....."
Leaning towards the (rather sexy to him) woman across from him that originally complained,he yelled over the chopper sounds

"I know this is gonna sound stupid, but i'm gonna say it anyway:What's a Beautiful Woman like you doing in Blackstone?"

For Jen being yanked out of the cell she was in wasn't as big an inconvenience as it might have been for others. After all to keep her powers under control they kept her room at an uncomfortable 85 degrees Fahrenheit, which meant her orange jump suit was sweaty most of the time and sticky. the last part she was pretty sure intentional on the part of that chain-smoking Jack@ss Bill. the fat bastard had been leering at her a little too much right up until she'd used a slip in the guards routine to give him a blue ball special. That petty bit of revenge had cost her a week in solitary and her tv being turned off.

Still it had been a bit satisfying., and left a smirk on her face every time she saw ole Blue Bill as she snarkily nicknamed him. the name had stuck around the yard. Now she sat in the back of the Helo surrounded by people a lot harder then Bills little toe could ever dream of being, and a group of people in the same jump suit she was in.

She was admittedly curious--who wouldn't be-- but not as much as she probably should have been. After all she was in this for the thrills mostly and unknowns were about as thrilling as it could get. Oh don't get her wrong she wasn't suicidal or anything, you weren't going to find her doing something stupid like bungee jumping or anything, but still seeing someone in a costume coming after you MAN that was fun stuff.

Her ears perked up as the cute brunette across from her made a play at one of the hard cases in Aegis gear. She didnt get very far not that Jen expected her to. She thought about making her own play given that she was pretty sure the guys guarding them were Male and still breathing and thus as susceptible to the feminine charm as anyone but frowned slightly as she recalled that she was wearing those damned Mark 3 Power Dampening Restraints. they literally shut down her powers and worse made it very uncomfortable to even try to use them, and even worse they engulfed her small hands fully. She couldnt even scratch her nose.

Annoyed at the cirumstances she sighed quietly the long exhalation causing the window to fog over completely as her breath frosted the window. she reached up used one of the protrusions on the cuffs to draw a circle followed by two dots and a curved line on the frosted window then turned and smiled angellically at the guards who scowled back at her.

Nathan is quiet as he sits in the helicopter, ignoring all the idiots trying to make trouble. He doesn't even waste his time shaking his head.

Having pulled out of his cell late at night, he was a little grumpy. Getting trussed up in full transport gear was inconvenient to say the least. Being led out to the prison yard 4 inches at a time after some blather about a transfer left him feeling a little sore. The gear restrained his movement and he desperately wanted to stretch his arms and legs.

This whole thing reeked of bad. The helicopter transport and full outfitted AEGIS guards wasn't the norm. They don't usually transport prisoners by air. And where would they take them? Was there another prison qualified to hold him? Did they build a new one?

Or did they plan on a more permanent solution to meta-criminals?

A month before.

After a week in solitary confinement, Genki was placed in the area with the normal prisoners. He was found to have no metahuman powers, despite the claim of the Japanese authorities that he was some manner of demon, or so the researchers performing tests on him told him. He could but grin in his mind. Their machines and devices made no sense to him, and evidently, nor did they made any sense to their creators. These people were blind, blinded by their own ignorance. And it played out better for him. His small frame and his race made Genki and immediate target for the more aggressive inmates, who he quietly subdued without breaking a sweat. Calmly, he would twist their hands and arms until they begged for mercy. He didn't quite understand this new language very well, but squealing sounds alike in all languages. His cell mate was not half bad, and helped him learn some english as well as telling him about the prison and the country he was in. Also some history. Genki was sure he made it to score points with him, no one wanted to be on his bad side; which was good. He needed capable retainers to escape this place. Establishing himself as a Daimyo would certainly fit him, now that the nagging hunger of the sword was not consuming him, he could think clearly and made some plans. The time passed by, and he gained more support each day.

Tonight

Genki's cell door opened abruptly, waking him up. He didn't even manage to lean forward from his bed, before three AEGIS agents surrounded him, and at the voice of "Do not resist!" locked his hands and feet in reinforced steel. Genki knew better than try to resist there. The agents? They would have been dead before saying "not", but he reckoned there were many more from where those three came from. And there was still the Maximum security prison thing all around him. It was surprising to him how much did he came to learn about this new world in these past month of imprisonment.
He frowned, considering all the work he had been planing, and how this interference might jeopardize it all. But he had to play along. Quietly, he followed the guards to the heliport...
There, a beast of black and glimmering carapace stood, roaring and causing a great gust of wind. He had seen other similar beasts, but none like this one. His silvery hair waved in the wind as he contemplated the vehicle. At his sides, there were other inmates. His retainer had spoken of some of them, with words he didn't quite comprehend. He waved off the thought, better to play quite and listen and observe.
He was forced into the vehicle, and it took off with all of them aboard. The ride was much more unstable than when he rode the beast called "plane", but he kept his composure. The rest of the prisoners seemed to be short of patience, and quickly began to annoy the guards and speak among themselves. Genki remained calm and silent for now, observing and listening to the exchange as much as the roaring of the engines allowed him.

Maggie, who'd just had her treatment in the afternoon, looked on with complete cooperation and compliance but the guards were still wary around her. No metal had been allowed within 100 feet until the specially made ceramic plastic polymer dampening collar had been secured.

She looked around the rocking compartment. Despite being pulled up from sleep she looked bright-eyed and eager. Her smile beamed and she didn't hesitate to offer a friendly nod to anyone catching her eye, including the guards which only made some of them grip their weapons tighter. Even if they hadn't been there, they'd been told about it....

Seven months earlier...

There were screams when Violet was first brought in. Margaret Francis "Frankie" Kane was a petite, pretty girl. Her slim and slight frame belied the raving psychopathic personality inside of her. Her size also made an anesthesiologist miscalculate the proper dose and she woke up early - before the new metal-free power -suppressing collar could be fitted and activated.

A primal, Neanderthalic scream issued from her throat before she was even fully conscious and every piece of metal around her vibrated like eager Chihuahua puppies (if the diminutive canines were vicious, razor-fanged remorseless monstrosities eager for human blood and suffering). Violet snarled and a ring of keys broke apart to embed in one guard's face - a hundred locks being opened at one inside his cheeks and eyes. Another guard fell prey to handcuffs spinning like buzzsaws burying themselves in her neck and painting the room crimson. The metal trays served sentinel intercepting attempted shots with the polymer guns issued, in a stroke of rare bureaucratic brilliance, to her guards from the transferring facility, and also the more successful attempts to club at her with ploy-carbon truncheons. There was, most unfortunately and older guard who'd had a hip replacement surgery from an unkind encounter with a super strong meta-criminal. An honorable retirement had been not far off for him. His screams were the loudest, most plaintive, and echoed the longest. Frankie had been subdued finally by a lowly med tech, knocked to the ground in her initial burst and discounted that managed an injection of hastily-drawn sedative and ended Violet's magnetic storm of mindless fury.

* * * * * *

This was the woman that the Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatments had all but eradicated. At the prompting of Dr. Paul Harris, the brilliant psychologist responsible for her treatments, she'd adopted the nickname 'Maggie' and is eager to show her stunning transmogrification to the authorities.

Felicity looked towards the oddly gray-skinned, red-eyed inmate and flashed him a mischevious smirk before looking towards the blonde woman that put her fight or flight instincts on standby. She didn't know precisely *why* the woman did, just some quality that made her feel that caution was probably better for her long-term survival plans. Maybe it was how calm she looked sitting there in the prison oranges. Yeah, that was probably it. "But an overly cautious cat never catches her prey, and let's just say the odds are ever in my favor." she smiles, masking the wariness she really feels towards Madame Curare.

Turning her head back the other way, she takes in the male sitting next in line to Tsalvameth and moves her hands as if to push back her hair over an ear, but frowns when she remembers the encasings over her hands and just turns the gesture into something akin to a shrug with a vaguely flirty smile. "Oh you know, the usual; wearing the latest prison fashions and accessories, waiting for my next lucky break." Felicity places slight emphasis on the word 'lucky', one might entirely miss it.

He'd known of the Madame before. Every killer for hire worth their salt knew who she was, a legend in their field that came with a slew of rumors and stories about just what she can do and what she's done. Not a single ounce of it seemed far-fetched once he had the chance to look her in the eye, an opportunity to see just a hint of that wisdom she had under the surface of her deceptively middle-aged appearance. Dave wasn't at all surprised to hear that she knew who he was, more a testament to her resourcefulness then any personal fame he might have. Especially when the only people who knew his full name were AEGIS and his brother.

A mental note was made then and there to not get on her bad side.

"Ah, you know these Government Stooges aren't going to tell us anything anyway. I know i'm gonna get into trouble anyway, so #%@$ it....."

While the man who nudged him may not've noticed, Dave was saw the feint signs of tensing the moment he started to lean over. He had to admire their restraint, lesser men and woman would've riddled the guy with bullets before he even got an inch close to him. For his part, he merely gave a raised brow as the guy next to him decided to blatantly flirt with the first among them to speak up- Yell up, really. There's no way helicopters were always this noisy.

"Oh you know, the usual; wearing the latest prison fashions and accessories, waiting for my next lucky break."

Leaning forward just an inch, he peered at the woman across from him. "Heard black and white stripes are coming back into style. Can't wait personally, hazard warning orange just doesn't compliment my eyes at all."

The last prisoner to be loaded was, presumably, female- though the short-cropped cap of tightly curled black hair and the lean build (shapeless under the prison uniform) made it difficult to be certain. It was mostly that the other female prisoners had probably seen her before, and the male prisoners had not.

And she had, in fact, BEEN loaded aboard the helo, rather than climbing aboard under her own power. She might have been fully asleep, or heavily sedated, or simply unwilling to assist her captors in any way- whatever the cause she wasn't much of a burden to an AEGIS agent in power armor, and she had been dragged in and slung onto one of the bench seats. Where she had promptly slumped over onto her side, limp and boneless as a cat.

The brief and fitful glimmer of eyes gave her away, to those who bothered to pay attention- the AEGIS team simply didn't care, as long as she didn't try to move. But she was awake, watching each prisoner as they spoke.

Noticing Cat Noir's emphasis on lucky got Alex thinking. With the right chemical mix,he might(and that's a big might) be able to burn through her Power Cuffs.Unfortunately,he'd have to get to a bathroom to do it....
Leaning forward a little bit more, the former College student replied as he gave Cat a grin(and hoped he could get his point across without the guards catching on)
"You know what they say in Chemistry, gorgeous:The right Chemical can make all the difference, luck has nothing to do with it....."

"Heard black and white stripes are coming back into style.can't wait personally, hazard orange just doesn't compliment my eyes at all."
Leaning back in his seat as he noticed the guards started getting nervous,Alex barks a short laugh as he replies
"You know why we wear these right? The Orange coloring has a chemical mix added to it during production that makes it easier to see in Ultraviolet so their choppers can spot us when we try to escape.Black and white stripes are too chemical neutral to use....."

Suddenly noticing the new arrival, alex nudges Tsalmaveth, nodding his head in her direction and saying out loud towards Madam Curare(who seemed to know everyone and whom he'd been polietly ignoring due to not having anything to say to her)

Jen had been quietly bored and about to nap when the last prisoner was loaded. She perked up when she saw who it was too and waved as best she could, which granted wasnt much.

"Kix?" Jen chirped happily

"Yeah she'll be fine, she tends to see the world a little... she tried to think of a good word but settled on "..Differently."

"We were bunk mates for a bit, she got me out of a scrape or two." she shrugged easily by way of explanation. mentally her wheels were turning, if she could get the restraints off Kix, the pair of them could be out of sight before the guards bodies were done hitting the ground.

Oh yeah this was turning out to be interesting.

“Kicks? Mmmm.” she said the name with the sort of look of concentration of a wine connoisseur sampling a new, allegedly rare, vintage. “Kicks.”

She looked over the slumped figure. Thought about it for a moment, then turned back to Tsalmaveth with a shrug. She had to raise her voice to be heard, but still somehow managed to sound like a disinterested patrician who couldn’t remember the name of one of her household staff.

“No. I cannot say I’m familiar with that one,” she arched an eyebrow, “I know my reputation, Mr. Wavaski, that I know everything about everyone. That’s a useful reputation to have, but the truth is that I only know... quite a lot about quite a few.”

“Ms. Kane, you’re looking to be in good spirits today, she noted that a few of the guards seemed to grow tense when she started speaking to the young woman, “I don’t suppose the good Dr. Harris dropped any hints to you about our travel plans?”
