Cameron glances your way again, a little stiff nod. Her fingers tap three times on the wheel again. "Of course they didn't tell you. You're just his partner." eyeroll, "Plotz? Micky (sic)?" her jaw sets as she stares at the road, bearing down it as her knuckles turn white on the wheel, "They didn't tell me much either. Your regular guy is in the ER. I stepped back last."

The bouncer frowns at you, arches a brow, starts to speak...is handed the bill, pauses.. and opens the rope for you. A shake of his bald head. "Good luck buddy, you'll need it."

If you were expecting a heavy bass thump, eardrum shattering music, flashing lights.. you'd be disappointed. In the center of the room is a grand piano, a stacked blonde poured into a brilliant scarlet dress showing off her nightingale voice and legs that reach forever. Around there are layers of booths radiating out from the center. Dark, smoky, cozy.

The waitresses aren't bad looking either. Curiously, a few of them are sitting with the patrons.

"Ahem, may I take your coat sir?"
"Just point me in the direction of the bar," Fortinbras says around the lozenge. He's not looking at the speaker, his eyes are scanning the crowd, trying to spot his client's errant wife. A small part of his awareness notes that the singer has nice pins and better lungs, but he's on the clock and business comes first.

He feels a bit flat-footed and out of place. At least the lighting is dim. Maybe no one will notice how plug-ugly he is in the dark.

Can I do a Well Informed check to see if Fortinbras recognizes the singer or pianist?

What is my client or quarry's name?

The audience starts out cold, hard. Why did they even come tonight if it isn't to have fun? The tennis ball of audience participation thunks against the hard wall and drops to the ground.

But as your performance continues, things begin to thaw and flow, the audience giving back to you, the energy building with the transaction. Maybe not the most welcome of crowds, but they are reaching out for your hand.
Would Lexi try to please the entire audience? Would she be challenged by certain people that aren't looking to be having fun (hint)? Tell me about how she would deal with the trade back and forth.

Tough crowd here, especially those who seem here for anything but fun. What is up with that, don't tell me there is a deal going down here. Either that or could these guys be connected to the biker gang that trashed my regular club. Keep an eye out for trouble, but I need to amp up my performance before I lose the rest of them. Can't always please everyone. Pulling out one of her more impressive tricks, no one had figured out how she pulled it off yet, if only because she used actual illusions for it.

A large target board was brought out and she began to toss playing cards at it, embedding the cards one after another until the shape of a dragon formed. The cards appeared to burst into flames as a dragon leaped from the board, letting out a powerful roar and breathing fire over the audience, before exploding into a dazzling display of fireworks. She hoped this would please most of the audience, but kept the act going with her next trick.

Pulling out some throwing knives, she began to toss them into the air, one after another. They began to snake about, moving together in a serpentine pattern, controlled by a near-invisible wire linked to Lexi's hands. Keeping them in the air with minute, yet complex motions, she had the blades dance into the air before forming a circle around her and dropping to the stage. In a flash of fire she disappeared, already planning how to return to the stage or should she end her act early for the next act to take the stage. Something just felt off tonight, was it her, was it the crowd, was she still rattled from the biker trolls attack on her regular club, a second home to her.

Phillip's eyes widen in shock and he turns to face her. "No... what... what happened?!" No wonder he'd been given such a cold reception; getting a rep as a 'jinx' was bad in any business where you depend so heavily on a partner. After Jodi's disappearance and now Marty's... whatever... Things weren't looking good. Worse yet, he'd actually grown to like the funny little man and his polka obsession (okay, that *was* kind of annoying, but Phillip could deal). He hated to think the man was infirmed. Immediately he wondered if the [several] times that Phillip had used his lullaby-on-steroids power to keep Marty unaware of his less-than-legal and nowhere-near-mortal dealings were contributory to whatever had him laid up but he reigned in his self-recrimination until he knew more.

"Do we know anything?" his voice contained a hurt plea to his erstwhile partner.

But something further away tugs at your interest, a jerking and twitching of something that has fallen into your web. Disturbing the balance. An annoyance.
Robert sat up, human eyes looking around. The only place webs formed like that were in his personal realm, and only those that he invited were permitted within its confines. He had yet to encounter anyone powerful enough to enter without his permission. Was this a premonition?

He had become accustomed to this form in the last year or so, of using its abilities and mobility to his advantage, but he still had much to learn.

They'd tell you if it was serious, right? Maybe they just got rushed and didn't think to tell you. It happens, right?"

Marty really hadn't mentioned anything. His kids, Junior and Mary, teens now, were the source of endless proud papa stories. Wife, Margaret, was a source of endless frustration that he couldn't give her as much as she deserved. Nice guy. Really nice guy. Nothing that would support needing to be in the hospital. Something sudden? Why no calls?

Frank Koch, nice guy, smart (an.. accounting clerk if your notes are right), could stand to work out more, could do with a better combover. His wife, Lauren, way way over his league. Way he described her, he has no idea on why he's on his arm rather than on some millionaire's. Hard being in that position. Most guys keep wondering when their luck is going to run out and screw it up. Sometimes they're right, something is rotten in the state of Denmark. Every once in a while, the story ends up okay in the end.

Scanning the crowd, you know the kind, up and comers, wealth to be, promise, potential, future. Not like Frank, the poor schlub.

There she is, sitting with a man, stylish and groomed, handsome. He's talking, she's listening. Hard to make out much more from over here.

By the end of the performance, the hardened audience has thawed to you. A sprinkling of applause across the audience overshadowed by the catcalls and yells for encores, some of not so wholesome and family friendly. It's a different crowd, but still they show their appreciation. After all, you did leave them wondering how you pulled that off. It's a fine line though, a difficult lesson, the audience wants to think that they know how something was done, they want to think that they outsmarted the performer.

The stage manager clears his throat, reaching down into his pocket and pulls out a wad of cash, teasing it just out of your grasp.

This web is not just yours, but Hers, the way in which She speaks to you, if you could call it speaking.

The flaw in the web tugs again, only making itself more entangled.

If you do not investigate and gobble up the treat, will another?

This was intriguing, to say the least. Not sure if was dreaming or not, Robert glanced around. He could definitely walk on webs as easily in Spider form as in Human, but it was more comfortable in spider, even if he preferred to avoid the giant spider form for practical reasons.

Resisting the urge to call out or even split into thousands of smaller spiders, he began to move towards the flaw.

What roll, if any can I make for this?

If you want to make an Insight roll, I'd let you start to ask some questions.
As you skitter across your web towards the tug, you have an odd sense of greater movement- passing over areas with wider spaces between the threads, other spots where the web twists tightly in on itself, hills and valleys.

Insight/Int check: You start to realize that the weave of the web corresponds to the geography of the real world and you're moving from where you were towards the US Northeastern seabord.

That nagging spot of tension, pulling at you, tight and fidgeting grows closer and closer.

Phillip was quiet as he thought. He watched the streets go by lit in staccato by the rig's lights the sirens only blared whenever they were coming to an intersection or faced by an oblivious driver not responding to the lights.

The radio squawks a few more times. Sounds like one of those nights where you just sit.. and wait for the next call coming in. The calm before the storm? Of course, traffic is absolute hell, why does it take five times longer to get anywhere in EC than it should as the raven flies?

"We're about a minute out. What's the plan Philip?"

Phillip shakes his head to clear it from his thoughts.

"After our standard scene safety checks, dealing with the trauma patient depends on how she's dressed and what her vitals are. Dressed for a club scene we need to be prepared for alcohol, which would thin her blood and prevent clotting, and/or other drugs that'll interfere with accurate vitals. No one said whether the patient was conscious or not. Not might be our best-case if drugs are involved." Lord knows they didn't need a confused, semi-coherent woman pulling at her bandages or resisting treatment. "But if not we become Nancy Drew to look for evidence of such on her person."

"If it's a traffic accident or mugging or some such it's likely a simpler wrap-and-go job - a topical hemostatic should control the bleeding if it's an extremity, tranexamic acid (TXA) should be good for torso or suspected internal bleeding. The latter would be a guess as to the dosage based on her size. Too much and we risk thrombosis and a stroke, best to err on caution and use a combo of the TXA and bandages if needed." please let be a simple job.

"Regardless, standard shock protocol - Heated Oxygen and a blanket. Elevated feet as we load her into the rig."

"We'll call ahead to Mercy General. ER folk will be waiting. Their a good bunch but sticklers about knowing what we've done in minutiae."

"Either way, it's a woman so, to avoid any questions of... anything, you should ride in back with her. I'll drive." Besides, if there were drugs involved Phillip wanted to remove his own temptation to 'sample' from the victim - who knows how whatever was in her bloodstream might affect him.

"Just make sure to record the transport vitals or they'll ding us on the paperwork."
