Do you need me to re-send that one?
Re: Eldritch City (Recruiting, 3E MM)
It just came through. Lots of nifty ideas.
I really need to sit down and dig deep into characters in the next few days.

So, whats of challenges (external threats, internal threats, etc) do people want to go with their characters?

I set up Senator Raymond to be a potential villain; I see him as sort of that classic 1970s horror movie character, the charismatic but corrupt politician who made a deal with the Devil to rise to power. He doesn't have to have a lot of screentime; his influence can be more behind the scenes, with him casting a shadow over Eldritch City in which dark forces can thrive. Also his old law firm might be similar to Wolfram & Hart from Angel in that they defend bad guys and have access to magical stuff.
As far as internal threats go, Darlene is fairly straightforward in terms of her motivations, but she might be tempted to exceed the law if she's dealing with an 'untouchable' bad guy who just smirks and gets away with shit all the time. Her hotheadedness might also get her in trouble with someone who knows how to push her buttons.

For Joshua, the most obvious external threat is hostile spirits and ghosts. Among the living, he no doubt has people unhappy with his work with ghosts ("You've gotta be wrong! Sylvia loved me. You're lying when you say she claimed she was having an affair with Bill and he killed her when she tried to break it up..."), or people involved in his crimes ("Ghosts, my ass... he fed us a line of bull when he told us that that door was always unlocked. We start our escape, get to the door, locked as tight as my wife's legs..." "It seems, gentlemen, that we have someone who can send invisible spies against us... we have to eliminate that risk before The Reaving can commence."). Outside of that, this seems like the sort of thing where a massive cosmic threat is in the works and the Trenchcoat Brigade gets called in.

Ooh, something I just thought of; what if Darlene still works for Raymond's old firm? He of course paid all her medical bills, but now she's back at her job, not knowing who to trust, while still trying to dig up more dirt and fight it from within! She might even pretend that she doesn't remember the events that lead up to her little 'accident'.
Edit: or would she dare to get a job at his Congressional office in EC? Hmmmm...

Layla, as a servant of the Winter Court, is tasked with attending to their interests in the realm of humans. This could go from meeting with their contacts and brokering deals to even fullfiling missions of assassination against people and monsters they deem a threat to The Mask. She's also almost guaranteed to become involved with their internal political struggle in one way or another, and the Four Courts aren't exactly on friendly terms.
She also has her life in the Human World that she feels a need to protect from the Supernatural, the most obvious aspect of that is her human boyfriend. Layla herself could be at danger as well, both from those elements and even from humans who hunt things that lurk in the dark.
Am I dead? Am I alive? The answer may surprise you!

I have to say I love the diversity of character types that people have submitted so far, at least the ones we've seen in this thread; each is an original take on a classic type, and I can readily imagine them all in the same world.

Re: Eldritch City (Recruiting, 3E MM)
for my character, despite not being fully built yet, he's basically dedicated himself to hunting supernatural threats that mean harm to humanity, so that's like as not garnered him a note of infamy among that crowd and no few enemies I would imagine. He also has the dark entity within himself that wants freedom, and his body, which vague as the entity makes it out to be, doesn't likely bode well for the mortal soul, but persist the entity does, trying to constantly to tempt him to relinquishing his body while he tries to resist and maybe even one day redeem the entity to a true force of good.
Also, unlike all these paralegals and investigators, I picture my character as more of a bar tender, or some other mundane day job.

That's funny, because I have her own day job listed as a waitress to a bar & grill. Same one, perhaps?
