IC: non-M&M SHRPG campaign

Post by badpenny »

Since I'm working on my M&M 2.5 hack, I was wondering if anyone was interested in playing/learning various other SHRPG systems, such as:

Daring Comics RPG (Fate core)
Four Color FAE (Fate Accelerated)
Icons (Fate inspired)
Prowlers & Paragons (target number dice pool)
Sentinels of Echo City (OSR)
Supers! REd (aggregate dice pool)

I've actually played a little of fate already, when were going to use it for a sci-fi game. Never got far off the ground sadly, but I think I recall the rules well enough.

Fate has a lot going for it. I prefer Fate Accelerated (FAE) over Fate Core for supers. If you want the four-color genre, you have it in spades with FAE. Players who need lots of crunch won't find it here.

Good stuff. I've never had the chance to look over the other derivatives of Fate, but I'm sure I could catch on. I've had some experience with Marvel Heroics, which my GM had informed me was based off of something based of of Fate... Fae or Iconics perhaps?

Marvel Heroic is based on the Cortex system. The only Fate (core)-based SHRPGs (I know of) are Daring Comics and Venture City. You can play in the superhero genre with FAE without a supplement (just the core mechanics; it's that cinematic).

Ahh, gotcha. Ahem, regardless, I think my interest is clear. :D It's good to stretch those creative nerons on other systems now and then, so I'd certainly be down for giving it a go. Maybe I'll even base a character on the alien I was playing for the legacy appeal, could be fun.

Own Daring Comics RPG, Icons, and Supers REd myself and would love a chance to play using them. Haven't seen Four-Color FAE but sounds interesting.

This blog covers using FAE for four-color supers. Example characters as well as a conversion of the Avengers-Chitauri fight into game mechanics (which is brilliantly done).

You can also get a PDF of the details from DTRPG (for free) here.

If you're willing to go more pulp than super, Spirit of the Century is an awesome FATE setting.

I actually prefer Young Centurions since it's FAE based and I love the kid angle.

I don't think I've heard of that one before. What's it about?

I'll check out these links in a bit, refamiliarize myself with the system again and such.

I have Fate and Fate accelerated, Icons and Sentinels of Echo City.

I don't have much experience with Fate however.
Icons would probably be the easiest? Since it is based off of the original Marvel game. Sentinels was ok...good for low powered shenanigans.
