If you get Icons, then you get Fate. Probably the hardest thing to get from Fate is when/how to use Create An Advantage. The other maneuvers are straight ahead. Fate Core is probably the easiest to jump into since it uses skills, and it's straightforward. Fate Accelerated is a little tougher (for some) because it's all about HOW you do things, not WHAT you can do--which makes it perfect for supers.

My issue with Icons is that, while I love the mechanics, the powers are really built around random character creation. The tacked-on point buy system isn't really fleshed out. Some powers are more or less containers for several effects, e.g. Aquatic or Absorption, and aren't balanced against other effects, let alone everything costing one point/rank. It's fairly easy to just overlook things and get on with it, but it's hard to turn off my internal editor.

I probably shouldn't be thinking to hard about a potential hero concept just yet, when the system hasn't even been decided upon just yet. ;P I think I'd be fine with any of the provided options, I admittedly didn't get as much experience with the FATE system as I woulda liked, but I get things well enough, and I've proven myself to be quick at adapting to new systems. What do you think you may end up using, Badpenny?

The system with the most mentions so far is Icons.

For anyone without the Assembled edition, you can peruse the Basics chapter of the OGL version here.

Well, I had a character in mind, but randoming is fun too. Might actually be better in getting me used to a new system.

Okay, here's what I got in the end. I love the near perfect spread of abilities, with prowess at eight. My first thought when I looked at this was "loki", if only because of illusions, power specialty, and his great abilities. If Life Support didn't roll out as a seven, I'd consider dropping it for better illusions... Tough call, as it is now. I'll fluff it up later on, and consider what kinda hero this'd really be.

We'll see if anyone else is interested enough to submit a character.
