Rebecca's new ability open all sorts of very interesting questions.
I suspect this is going to be interesting as the next few sessions go by.

Rebecca's ability isn't really new...except that she's never thought to try it before. While not PL X or anything (because I don't believe in PL X characters), Rebecca's main limitations are her lack of imagination when she's stable and her lack of control when she's not.

At some point in the 2019 year, when she's a senior, Rebecca's sub-plot should erupt into a primary plot and come to a conclusion. I'm hoping it will be fun and traumatic in the classic Oubliette style.

So much strife at the beginning of this chapter.

Well, I've only got about two...maybe three chapters (counting this one) until we time jump to the new school year, so I wanted to start things off with a bang. Set the table and see what gets done. Most of this stuff is sub-plot development, despite everything being so dramatic.

As I mentioned before the end of chapter 6, I do want this period of the game to focus on threats that are more personal and centered on the school, as opposed to stuff like the mountain spirit or the Zoo that the team just sort of stumbled onto. There is a lot brewing at the school that has been in motion since I first conceived of running this campaign. It's time some of it was addressed...plus there's new stuff that the arrival of Gaspar, Anton (and Eve) have made possible.

@Shock- David can take 20 on a history check using the school library. (Using a new, superior source is the only way you can re-roll a Knowledge ck, but taking 10 or 20 is permissible on KS checks).

I re-read my post and maybe you misunderstood, there are markings on both the front and back of the brooch. On the front is Italian bordering the ruby and on the back is Latin. Is he trying to translate both or just the Latin?

Yep, I definitely misunderstood that. I'd like to translate both

Aut Cesare, aut nihil...Either a Caesar or nothing.

I realize Merle is just having breakfast so I don't want to assume I can fast forward that far ahead
At least somebody is looking out for Merle's breakfast! ;~)

Congrats Shock! I knew Aut Cesare, aut nihil (Either a Caesar or nothing...or alternatively translated...All or nothing) would be pretty easy. It's the motto adopted by Cesare Borgia and is pretty famous, but, "A pearl on this Earth", which is how the French nobleman, Chevalier Bayard described Lucrezia Borgia is a bit more obscure.

Have a HP. You deserve it.
