The same Bleed from The Authority (one of my favorite modern comics!)?

I've been down after a breakup, but not out. Still working on my new character slowly but surely in the background.

Mostly the Bleed from DC - essentially the buffer zone between parallel dimensions.

Yeah, the forum seems to have gotten very slow in the past few weeks. At first it was just the holidays season, but then it's like some just haven't come back after. :/

I've been doing some background and worldbuilding for my new character, but don't want to get too far ahead of myself if the game is just going to get summarily cancelled again.

Between this game and the Amalgam Young Avengers League on the other board our little coterie seems to be having a difficult time building adequate steam.

Now to ask the hard question: Do we try to get this one rolling here? Do we scrap it and start fresh with a new, possibly collaborative idea that can really get us all juiced into it? Or do we just throw in the towel and Bladewind moves on to other things in life?

What's our honest take?

My personal take leans towards choice one or two, as I think Bladewind has some great storytelling chops, and a fantastically fleshed out Amalgam Universe. I have struggled a bit with both games and all three characters so far though, in large part because the games have been so plot heavy that I feel more like a character's personal motivations and drives take a backseat to just doing whatever the plot needs me to do at the moment, which has been somewhat passive so far. One way to deal with this is if we go with option 2, is to start from a more collaborative character creation process where the players figure out what will be most engaging as a group, and then Bladewind can build out a campaign to best fit the characters instead of us trying to do the reverse.

Thoughts?

Apologies.

I'm horrible on the weekends.
Without Starguard I'm kind of stuck unless I just pull out of that scene.

I kind of like Tek`s suggestion to revamp the team a little. What do y'all think?

And thanks for the props Tek.

I'm kinda in that area of "I like my character, but have no real idea what to do with her in regards to the plot", so yeah, I like the idea of something a bit more collaborative.

And I agree regarding Bladewind's chops as it were. I remember some of the stuff he ran back on ATT.

Honestly, I feel bad for not being able to be a better driving force to keep things moving, but i think that has a lot to do with coming in late to the story. In any case, I am alright with whatever we want to do to rectify the situation, whether it's new plot same universe, new characters, or different universe all together.

It's not that the team needs to be revamped so much I think as that we need some character development both as individuals and chemistry between the characters in order to feel the stakes of the plot. It's a tricky narrative balance to achieve I admit, but really is the sweet spot in role playing.

So, what are we doing guys ?

Do I skip forward and use handwavium on the Bleed, and perhaps re-open the floor to potential recruits ?

I think it might be best for us all to get on the same page about what the game actually is, and perhaps most importantly, I think it helps when the PCs all have some kind of connection with each other. I think the turnaround in the middle of the plot has really hurt the game in a way since we're all basically strangers thrown together into a situation we don't understand.

And that`s a fair point.

 Your characters have been bouncing through time fighting these Killbot things that initially showed up right before Dawnfire was created. And other than an excursion to the Source Wall, that's all you've really done!
 The source of these has never actually been determined - when Dawnfire was defeated/ depowered/ recruited into the Legion, she lost a lot of her memory. No telepath has been able to access it since - honestly, if Satur9 was still part of the group she might have had a go of it.
 Your Away Team is the first to discover the portal on the Source Wall.
 There is also some connection to those that wear the S Shield of Superman, not Kryptonians or descendants, but wearers of the symbol.
 The attacks happen at intervals throughout time. On both sides of the timeline, the size and power of the invading force seems to diminish each time from the original attack. The original attack being the vanguard that took Dawnstar and Wildfire, as well as the battle in the Vega System. As you go back in time, the attacking forces are weaker the further back you go. As you go forward in time the same phenomena presents itself.
 Darkseid is NOT the big bad. There has been nothing to support his involvement, and any of the remaining New Gods in the Legion`s time (from New Genesis or Apokolips) have any inkling of Darkseid`s involvement and although baring similarities, the Killbot tech is not New God technology. (If you still had a GL with your group, this would have been apparent).

Hmm. You give me an idea. I could have Brainy call you all back to compile findings. Brainy (or others in the Legion) could want everyone to have the hole picture as its currently known.

Then, once back together, you might get some ideas from the NPCs on where to go next and how to bring this fight to the next level - as in, start acting instead of reacting.

 As for getting characters on the same page and developing links, that would be a great idea. Dragonmage provides a link to the original LSH, Intrepid is a direct legacy, as is my NPC Solarhawk. Princess and Tekhed`s new character are the newest recruits to the Legion.
 I would very much like Solarhawk to be a full fledged PC. At which point I'd add Vanguard (her boyfriend) as an NPC. (Although I really doubt anyone would really want to take on an OC designed by someone else.)

Well, I'm more comfortable with Intrepid's powerset than Satur9's, but if you want me to play her for a scene I definitely could.

Only thing is, I don't really get how she would succeed where her sister didn't...

As for the other suggestions, I think we're (the GM and I) finding our groove here in terms of playing and posting considering I have "live action" access to him and we don't want me to outshine the rest of the team. (I think we're overly worried about that myself, but Blade keeps mentioning it...)

Well my new character is a telepath, so he could be sent in as a specialist if that helps move things forward.

If there is a way for us to get some downtime and character development/social time that would be awesome. Think of the Marvel movies where some of the character interaction is just as good as the action. One way to do that is to provide hooks for characters to have rapport, or even conflict, i.e. Steve Rogers and Tony Stark who value each other, but also have some deeply conflicting ways of viewing the world. That's the juice right there, for me at least. Helps us to connect with our characters more than just being mouthpieces or cogs for the plot.
