Rand speaks up. "Hate ta say this, cuz I came up with the original idea and all, but if we swap Shannon and Kal, then both groups have a jedi - swords and weird force powers, AND have someone good with tech." he says.

Amy

"Sounds good to me, I'm mostly for negotiation, healing, translation and beating things up. I've got very few skills with high tech or the occult. Well to be honest, none really. I grew up in Alaska, so there really wasn't a need for it then outside of the basic things you need to live comfortably."

"Alright then." Amy agreed. 'Now seriously. Have you guys spotted any Pokemon or similar critters nearby or on this base?" she asked with a hopeful look.

The next few days are spent in preparation. Your weapons are returned to you, you are given full access to the base or close to it (there is no reason for you to be in ps, so that area is restricted, but pretty much every else within reason is open to you.) You get to know some of the other personalities on the station/ city an you can reconnect with Fairborn if you so desire.

Amy begins to quest in her downtime, querying some of the personnel about the existence of pokemon in or around Atlantis. The first few hours are rather unproductive until she gets an invite from Dr Peter Kavanagh. The man rants about things not being what they seem and it all gets very conspiratorial, but just when Amy is about to leave he summons a minor Pokemon, revealing that he has some skill himself. He brings her to a lower section of the city, and shows her where what appears to be a Pokemon lurks. He claims that while he can communicate with it, it is too powerful for him to tame. He's willing to let Amy master the creature in exchange for some instruction and lessons.

You deploy in groups and through very circuitous routes. Communication tech is understandably restricted, but you all have gmail and yahoo accounts that you can access to send coded messages and the like. You might be able to receive responses, but they will also be coded. Gmail and Yahoo are examples, any number of private servers, public e-mail or even corporate web addresses are provided for the covers you choose.

In the middle of nowhere, not quite a dessert but almost, a structure much like a multi-level shopping mall stands. It has statues on the outside and near the entrances, obviously placed there from other locations. Massive lions and humanoids guard the place. You could swear that some of the statues along the roofline remind you of Gargoyles from the Disney show.

Inside, the bottom level is coliseum of sorts where the fighting takes place. An elaborate arena with seating around. An energy field surrounds the ring, but is only put up in the most extreme circumstances. On the mezzanine is where the simple transactions take place - food, minor drug exchanges, nothing exotic. The upper levels are more restricted.

During one of the fights, your primary mark - the blond - holds court over a series of fights. Lesser metahumans by the looks of it, but no heroes or video game characters you recognize readily.

Go ahead, flesh things out a little, provide your covers and we will work from there. This is primarily a Street Fighter type arena, but most of the fighting games are represented.

Hand-to-hand or weapon matches too? How bloody do they get?
Randin stays is near Niisha, taking his role as muscle seriously. He wasn't sure if the dark elf was supposed to be another bodyguard - one of stealth to counterpoint his own imposition, or if he was an artifact expert working with the 'high roller' felinoid.

Randin knew he wasn't the most intimidating physical specimen but he hoped his armor would do most of that for him.

He tries not to look too closely at the bouts below. His empathic sense would register every blow the brutal fighters would land against one another. He concentrated on the other patron and on the radio traffic he could pick up.

Depends on the combatants. You saw at least one instance of someone behead another competitor with the blades that came from his forearms. Natural weapons only so far, but contestants do walk around with hand-to-hand weapons.

Lindsey

Having no one special to contact, Lindsey spends the time until the mission starts training his swordsmanship. Those who happen to spend a longer time near him notice that he consumes quite a fair amount of beer or, if he can get it, stronger beverages. Not enough to be an issue but something he ought to watch.

Once the mission starts, however, he is all business - or, to be exact, all " I'm a smug jerkass who thinks he is better than everyone else because he's got a law degree". He does his best to not linger anywhere for too long but to be seen nonetheless...

Amy Flashback

The girl sighs as the man rants, she did some basic research on the Atlantis personnel and knew he was basically the show's butt-monkey to be blunt. Just when she about decided to go look somewhere else, he triumphantly summoned a small, pink creature, an Igglybuff!

She laughed in delight as it bounced uncertainly towards her. She gently held out her finger for it to sniff and clutch and it warbled a greeting, sounding like it's name in a high-pitched, shaky voice. Though she heard something like: "Hello,"

"Hi yourself sweetie, is this guy treating you right?" she asked.

The critter nodded. "Yes. Lots of cuddles and sweets," the Igglybuff said happily.

"Hmm." she looked at the doctor. "Igglybuffs are herbivores, a bit like rabbits, they eat fruits and berries and need plenty of water. Sweets are well and good, but you need to vary it up a bit." she said, holding out a little toy and playing with it a little bit. "In order for them to evolve, you need to interact with them alot and you need to teach them to sing."

"Last time she did, she put everyone listening to sleep." he said, retrieving the small creature and cuddling her gently.

The Igglybuff puffed out, looking annoyed. "How can I improve if everyone falls asleep? That's so rude and hurtful! They're big, giant, meanies!"

The girl sighed. "Sweetie, they aren't being mean. Your voice is a weapon, a powerful one. It puts everyone to sleep, they can't help it. With lots of practice, you can turn off the sleep part of your voice and control who you want to put to sleep. It's hard work." she looked at the man. "Praise her and encourage her and she'll improve, just like anything else."

"Show me how!" he half demanded, half pleaded.

"It's hard work you know. Hard, dangerous, sometimes life-threatening work to train and raise pokemon. You can't just quit. It's a life-time commitment that changes you inside-out." she said seriously. "Can you take it? Can you do it?"

"I can try..."

"No. Like with the Jedi, there isn't any try. You do it, or don't. Go half-assed into this and you'll wind up dead." she stood up and got in his face.

"That little, beautiful, cute creature depends on you utterly. You will depend on her as well. It's a symbiotic relationship, as you grow strong, she will grow strong. As you grow weak, she grows weak. Once you begin the trainer bond, you can't ever sever it. Pokemon don't accept whining or complaining. They accept results. Can you do it?!" she asked.

"I.... Yes." he said looking scared.

"It's good to be scared. Do you know what pokemon means? Pocket monsters. Even the cute ones are dangerous, so never forget that." she stood up.

"I think I might have something for you. I found a pokemon down below and while I can talk to it, it's far too powerful for me to tame." he offered.

"It soaked me and threw me against a wall!" the Igglybuff cried. "I just wanted to be friends!"

"Pokemon respect strength, it was likely testing you to see if you could handle it."

"I can take you to it, if you can show me how to be a better trainer." The doctor said earnestly and somehow, she believed him.

"Alright. Let's see this pokemon."

So he took her down into the bowels of Atlantis, where the heard a scuttling noise and a stream of bubbles shot out and dented the bulk-head where Amy would have stood, had she not reacted fast enough.

"Almost got you!"
The pokemon crowed as it bounced out. "So who did you bring down here this time human?"

The man brought out a small device and poked a few buttons on it. "This is Amy. She's a pokemon trainer. A 'dex holder," he clarified hopefully.

"Really?" the small creature looked at the girl skeptically. "I've been beating this guy for months and bouncing circles around them. Name's Ren."

"You are a Azurill," she said in delight. "Can we be friends?"

"Fight me first and we'll see." the water pokemon drew itself up proudly. "I'm not going to waste my time with some weak excuse of a trainer."

"I don't expect you to." She said throwing out both of her pokemon.

"This is Peekaboo and Alma," The two pokemon inclined their heads.

"Peekaboo?!"
he chuckled.

"Hey, don't mock the name kid, I've been taking out worse mons than you since I was a Pichu!" the electric mouse retorted, cheeks crackling with outrage.

"Prove it!" the Azurill said and bounced forward, spewing a long beam of bubbles at the yellow monster.

"Dodge, quick attack!" the girl shouted and the electric mouse blurred forward, butting the Azurill against the wall.

"Not bad big guy," he said, eyes growing big as he tried to exert his will over the older pokemon. "Think you can show me how to do that move?"

"Maybe...." Peekaboo faltered for a moment and shook his head. "Nice try though." he growled.

"Damnit, you're stronger than you look!"

"Never underestimate the little guys, you should know that!" Amy crowed.

"True. Let's see how you deal with this!"
and small beads of hail began to impossibly fall in the area.

Dr Peter Kavanagh yelped and dove for cover, though Amy held firm. "Not going to scare me." she said. "I grew up in Alaska! Our snow is harder than this!"

"Peekaboo, Thunderwave!" She said and the pokemon complied, rubbing it's paws together and sending out what looked like a static charge at the Azurill.

"Hey! What's going on?!" the Azurill cried as it seized up.

"Me capturing you, that's what." she said and threw the pokeball.

A beam of light struck the creature, turning it into motes of energy that the beam drew into itself and the ball fell to the ground trembling back and forth as the creature fought to get out. Finally, it sparked and Amy held the ball up in triumph.

"That's how you do it." She said as she thumbed the release.

"So are we friends now?" she asked as she healed it.

"You're definitely worth my time." Ren said. "Yeah, I think we can be friends."

"Great!" she looked at the doctor. "You can come out now."

"That... That was more intense than the show or the games." Dr Peter Kavanagh said.

"Reality often is." She said and as they made their way to the surface, Amy gave him some more pointers on training and how to treat pokemon in general.

Amy Present:

The girl followed Lindsey, behaving more or less like herself, being friendly and chatting up anybody who was willing to talk, though keeping an eye out for anything interesting and generally getting into things she shouldn't. Like any teenager with far more energy than common sense does.

S & S
Flashback wrote:Shannon was a bit anxious about making the call she was about to. Technically, a Master Chief Warrant Officer was not a lot senior to her in the RMN. And counting her time on the Island, she'd served in Her Majesty's Navy for over thirty T-years. But the men and women who held the highest rating that could be achieved without a formal commission tended to be extraordinary individuals. And Sir Horace Harkness was extraordinary even among them. But there was no one else she knew of and could reasonably trust and reach that she could talk to about this. Others brought to Earth Prime by the Merge might well have the skills and be trustworthy, but she knew with 100% certainty that his primary loyalties were the same as hers, despite possessing a bit more ... moral flexibility... than she did when it came to some RMN regulations.

Fortunately, he was quick to dismiss formalities and get down to business.

"I'd really rather run my concepts by some of the specialists in this sort of thing in my shop, but there's not enough time to get a message back to Manticore. At least not without relying on some other universe's hyperdrive. And the Captain and Sir Lyman okayed me talking to you about this." She said.

"The one good thing about all those medals they gave me." He said. "It's a lot easier to get official permission for something like this."

After a while, they'd hashed out the upgrades to her armor and mini-comp that she wanted.

"Has anyone ever told you that you might have a few too many sneaky genes for a commissioned officer?" Harkness said.

"Not in an official setting." She replied.
When Shannon caught up with Lindsey, she was in what appeared to be 21st century business attire.

"Don't worry," She told him before they departed. "I've just made some cosmetic alterations to my armor; it'll still stand up to light pulser fire."

Amy

When Shannon showed up, Amy held out a new pokeball to show Lindsey and Shannon. "I got a water pokemon!" she said. "An Azurill. He's got some decent defensive moves, an area attack and a pretty good single shot attack." she said, showing them the small creature. "He's still a baby, so I have to work with it to get him up to the level of my other partners, but still he's a pretty good pokemon for his evolution stage."

The small pokemon preened a little under the attention. "Hi, name's Ren."

Amy translated and further explained what he could do before recalling him. "I still need a decent Grass and Fire pokemon." she considered. "The sixth one is up to debate. I'm leaning towards psychic, fairy or dragon." she grinned cheekily at Lindsey. "Both Grass and Fire types are pretty good against undead, especially vampires." she said with some viciousness. "Bullet Seed and Flame-Thrower anyone?" she added as she rubbed her hands in glee at the thought of the damage those things could do to certain types of monsters.

Niisha
Condition: Normal
HP: 3 - LP: 2

Niisha had spent the majority of the prep days they'd been given alternately sleeping, drinking far too much with Lindsey, and harassing Randin while he worked. She didn't bother concocting an elaborate cover story; neither she nor her two companions for this venture were particularly well known in this world (and she'd double checked that fact on the google, after Rand had taught her how). She'd simply be Niisha of Urborg, a flighty collector of curiousities with deep pockets, and her words would do the rest once they were on site and she'd gotten the lay of the land. She knew Rand would play his part well (meaning that he'd mostly stand near her and look intimidating in his armor), and she got the impression that Kal, though almost terminally taciturn, was a very capable individual who required no instruction from her. She did, however, study the provided list of individuals they might encounter.

Her approach was simple; throw around enough money to impress the people in charge. Currency opened doors, that was the same no matter what world you were from. She ordered outrageously expensive drinks and then harangued the serving girls for having poured them incorrectly. She placed exorbitant bets and laughed when her chosen fighters were knocked out. She wantonly caroused through the crowd, gathering small bit of information from those she spoke to as she went.

While she was busy attracting attention and establishing their cover, she quietly asked Kal if he'd be kind enough to locate and speak to their 'friend', Mr. Bryant, to see what information he might be able to provide.

OOC:
Deception Check: 1D20+15 = [11]+15 = 26, to see how effective her act is.

Investigation Check: 1D20+10 = [16]+10 = 26, to see what information she can glean from the crowd about the people running this show and/or their operation.

Kal'annar

If possible Kal'annar arrives via a StarGate albeit escorted by an SG team to insure his "safety". He isn't offended, more amused, thinking the humans are smarter than they look.

Entering the city through doors guarded by massive lion-like statues, Kal offers his services as a sword-sell and sorcerer capable of repairing and even creating magically imbued weapons if provide with the right materials and production cost. So far he has spent most his time around the coliseum looking for work and a team looking to make a big score, in the time being taking small jobs fixing the weapons and armor of those fighting with arcane equipment.

The site reminds you of a small city built up to house the Olympics. With team quarters filling the role of hotel rooms, the various sports complexes either maintaining their functions or serving other needs. It's possible to find just about anything you need or want here. And it's in just the perfect location that no law enforcement agency really wants to claim jurisdiction.

The whole micro city could be taken out by a small missile, but no one has proven bold enough to do so yet as the outside world is mostly unaware of its existence, and those that could deal with it are trying to monitor goings on to keep tabs and let the residents believe they are going about their affairs undetected. For their part, the residents are content to let the powers that be believe that they are watching their movements and know what's going on.

In one of the larger and more opulent rooms in the complex - one now associated with the administration of the city - men (and women) of power mingle and for those not in the know it would be difficult to tell who the actual person in charge is. One of your targets is known to frequent this gathering, Vega is often seen here with her mask off and her claw at her waist. Many strive for a glimpse of the Spanish ninja, and many wish they had not once they get close.

Lindsey's briefcase feels heavy in his grasp, but its just illusion. The cover identity that he assumed in infiltrating the compound was of an arms broker delivering a prototype hand gun that was purported to be cheap and yet more powerful than anything available. And better, virtually undetectable to native tech. His contact, Kano, had arranged to meet in the bar of the lower floors of the building where the bigwigs met. Lindsey has been unable to shake the feeling of being followed, indeed most of you feel the same.

Kal finds himself in an even more unsavory area of the compound, one where production of illicit good happens and none of the powers that be visit if they can avoid doing so. A cyborg takes interest in his work and offerings, a man with half of his face (or close to it) replaced with robotic parts. He was probably quite handsome before whatever that befell him and caused this transformation to be necessary occurred. It's hard to tell beneath the concealing clothing that he wears over the rest of his body, but its likely that he has more mechanical prosthetic than his visible facial reconstruction. The man introduces himself as Antonius Lionmane.

Perception rolls to be able to spot those that are following you, Deception to avoid them noticing you notice them.

Lindsey

Being observant never hurt and Lindsey knew how to spot a threat. One might be surprised how useful such an ability could be in the courtroom or the W&H offices, where 'hostile takeover' was sometimes taken literally. These days were, of course, long past him, but sometimes he could still remember the screams from the great Purge of the Contracts Division, Department D-L.

However, even more important than noticing you were being observed was not letting anyone know you were onto them...
