The girl nodded. "That's not a bad idea. I'd rather give them a chance to give up than not."

" The truth?" the woman suggests. " That the base has been busted, the DXDO is coming, the boss has skipped town and...well, neither one of us is in a mood to fight off Coulson's guys."
Well...in reality, they would be Stedman's guys, but he's far less known than Coulson...who, to his chagrin, has become the public face of the DXDO.

Long nods. "We can try that. Again, do you know what your boss might have run to?"

He looks to Torque, "Can you patch the radio system of one of their suits to the P.A. system?"

If so, unless there are any objections, they can try that and get this part wrapped up. Long will ask that they stop once more by the control room where the one external communication hub is and request the team coming in to stop off and get a few steaks for their carnivorous flora friend. Let's get them all the information we know thus far too.

Yeah, this is basically what happens. Coulson does not come personally, having enough stuff on his hands, but a few agents do come in and take stock of everything. The guards do not resist, deciding to take the money they already have and get out of here. As it turns out, you are indeed somewhere in Alaska, in the middle of nowhere. As for the boss - they have no idea, him having always kept personal details and plans away from the guards - possibly for an event such as this.
You folks are taken to a meeting room aboard the roomy - albeit not Bus-expansive - plane the DXDO used.
There, you are greeted by a nondescript man in his early 40s and a woman bearing a striking resemblance to an older Gillian Anderson - and when you read her nametag " Dr. Scully", you realize why.
The man's nametag reads " William Newman" and he is the one greeting you. " Newman, DXDO, formerly Delta Green. Nice to meet you. I assume you are familiar with Dr. Dana Scully? She's not a direct employee but acts in an advisory position in regards to Astrobiology and other related fields."
Dr. Scully gives you a curt nod.

Long's smile is broad. "Big fan of your work, Doctor. Even if most of it were in hour-long episodes."

Torque
Condition: Normal
HP: 0

Torque sits in the cargo hold, his robot form too tall to fit comfortably in the plane without risk of knocking people and things. To maintain communications, he projects the image of his holographic rider to computer monitor or tablet as appropriate. The image is a slightly modified Paul Rudd in a less tech version of his Ant-man uniform/ jacket.

"Big fan, Dr. Scully" He says but avoids going total fanboy, "Looks like we found a base but not much else. Some useful stuff for sure, but do we have any leads to move us closer to the boss?"

"It's very nice to meet you both." the girl said as one of the medics finished patching her up. "About the only thing I can think of is trying to figure out if the BBEG stored anything incriminating in the electronics. Barring that, have a Touch-Know take a look and see what they can read from the area." she shook her head. "While I can see spirits, ghosts and incorporeal critters and can navigate an area blind, psychometry isn't one of my talents or at least that particular gift hasn't made itself known to me yet in any case."

ooc
Touch-Know - A touch-know psychic is a person who can touch an object or person with their bare hands, and gain some kind of knowledge or information just from the energy inside it.

//You do not know. You could ask her...

Scully nods, a slight but very reserved smile on her lips. " Thank you, but I promise you, living through it was far less...entertaining. Anyway...in regards to electronics, the DXDO's specialists are currently analysing the programming to find out who assisted him. What we know is that whoever is behind this whole operation has gathered enhancements of numerous kinds, from Spice to Fire Flowers to even the T-Virus."

Newman nods. " This is well-funded. We are dealing with an individual of considerable means. But our usual suspects like Luthor etc. are apparently not connected to this."

" What makes this at once worrying and interesting is the eclectic nature of the research that went on in this place. Besides the many kinds of enhancements, we also found an issue of Supergod with some notes attached to it that makes it seem as if someone was using this as inspiration to build new superhumans from scratch." Scully holds up a comic paperback.

" What does that tell us? Well, first...our unknown party is not going the easy way and use the...questionable recipes for superpowers found on the Dark Web...that's good. The bad news...they are much more serious about this and are apparently trying to test the enhancements for their applicability to create a select few highly powered individuals", Newman adds.

" Just in case you are not familiar with the comic...", Scully explains, " It is about a superhuman arms race, taking place in a world where, instead of nuclear armaments, the nations of the world instead created superpowered beings...which destroy the world in the end because they are too far removed from baseline humanity to care about mankind."

"Did any of your friends make it through?" she asked sympathetically. "I can sort of relate to the 'living through it not being as entertaining'. My 'relatives' gave me chapter and verse on the Fire Nation's depredations on the Air Nation. It was their equivalent of the World Wars."she shook her head. "All Air benders and all Fire benders now take a very, very dim view of Nazi's and other extremists for that very reason."

"So in other words, we're dealing with a highly intelligent idiot with access to waaay to much power and a desire to make himself or herself more powerful." she sighed. "Barring that...." she looked thoughtful. "He or she could also be trying to figure out a way to depower people en-mass as well, so they they aren't a threat to him." she shuddered. "Let us hope we're not dealing with a Ras-Al-Ghul type."

Hannibal
Condition: Toughness -1, Dazed
HP: 0

In all of the things she listed, the T-Virus stands out the most to Hannibal.

"Damn." He says, "Screw me sideways. We're talking about things that if left unchecked will turn the world into zombies. No cure, no vaccine. Unless the last Alice made it through and she's being guarded better than the Queen's chastity belt.

"What's our next step?"

" We are dealing with a much more serious issue than my friends making it through the Merge", Scully says curtly, her expression telling everyone that that topic is done.

" The Everyman Program as well as most known and...for lack of a better word, tried and true method of creating superhumans are somewhat limited in scope. They can create superhumans of Power Levels 8-10. For reference, Superman is assumed to be at Power Level 15 or 16, the thresholds between levels being somewhat fluid. The cauldron treatments can create superhumans of Power Level 13-14 reliably, fortunately, the group that produced them did not make it through", she states, referring to the Superhuman Power Scale which has become the default measuring system for superhuman power. Interestingly, the program that measures superhuman powers and arrays them in that list just appeared one day, without any hints as to its author.

Still, it was practical and reliable enough to be used.

" The superhumans these people aspire to create would be, if we take the comic as a benchmark, Power Level 16-20. That is...basically on par with Darkseid and other corporeal god-entities..."

"Okay, do we know anything about where they are or where to go from here or how to ruin their collective days?" Long asks, his humor fading slightly with the gravity of the situation.

Hannibal
Condition: Toughness -1, Dazed
HP: 0

Hannibal lets out a soft whistle.

"Sweet mother of vampires."

He processes the information a little more before adding.

"OK, so us grunts have the unenviable task of fighting powerful superhumans, or, if we're lucky, we still have a chance to shut them down. I'm sure the more reputable supers have been warned about the impending crapstorm, but how the hell do you protect the public from something like this?"

He shrugs.

"What, I only play an asshole in movies. I actually give a few chucks. Precisely four of them, but I give them."

"So wait, by source material, they can reliably create beings of power level 13-14 with this process but are aiming for are 16-20. Comparing myself to Superman and not having read the scale, where do we fall? 5? 6?"

Torque does not like where his math is taking him.

"Have there been any examples of late of any success - or failures - getting out into the world?"
